QPR perhaps not doing as badly as I would've hoped this season, probably not enough to get Colback sacked at this point. I'd have hoped clubs like Arsenal, Brighton and West Ham would've been better as they're not really putting much pressure on clubs like QPR with the points totals they're on.

Queen of the South are in a good position to go down and potentially get their manager sacked. Although I'm still a bit concerned about what managing a Scottish League 1 club could do to my reputation in the long run even if it was only for a year or two.

In Scottish League 1 itself it looks like Queen's Park are in a decent position to go up via the play-offs. It could even come down to them against Queen of the South in the final maybe.

Adam did well in his 6 month spell at Atletico CP in the Portuguese 3rd tier, he started 16 games and pulled off his highest overall AVG Rating to date - of 7.41. An impressive stat and it seemed like he finally found his level. Unfortunately for him I have now sold a few back-up midfielders for money so I've had to recall him to use as a back-up option for the rest of the season. Although he might get some more trophies to add to his collection if things go to plan, so it's not all bad news for him really.

January

556a3618321eed93616e45542c44d6bb.png

3 players left in January. Killian Morillias and Tinguinha had been upset about being back-up or not playing matches for a while so I let them both go. I didn't really want to sell first choice CB Andre Luis but he was desperate to go and his contract only had 18 months on it, so I was worried we'd lose him next season for nothing if I didn't let him go.

08526e72fac8e6681449e1c6f147ee5a.png

We've sort of traded back-up CM's with Zenit which is a bit odd as Antonio Perugini replaces Tinguinha. We spent £10M on Mario to replace Andre Luis, Mario looks a good player and should do well.

We did enough to get through to the Semi Final of the League Cup.

6d76ff89527d4a8a0e2afddaf2a80473.png

Not the best month really. We picked up our first loss of the season away to Vit Guimaraes which ended up an embarrassing 3-0. We also dropped points at Academica this month. Felipe Blanco was on form to make sure we at least won 2 of the 4 league games though.

We're down to 3rd but have games in hand that can see us go top.

We're through to the League Cup final thanks to a very very late last minute winner from Gustavinho.

9959015a7c21e59b2f5fc4b72594e4a5.png

We beat Basel pretty comfortably 5-1 on aggregate to progress to the next round of the Europa League, with Filipe Jose in fine form.

30a93c409b324cfb794138a85fd2c0a3.png

A pretty good month in the league, we could only draw away to Madeira despite scoring 3 goals, but they're a decent side so a point isn't the end of the world at their place. We also picked up a big 1-0 home win against Benfica.

We're 10 points off top with 4 games in hand. Sporting Lisbon are doing well though and it will take us winning all of them games to go back to top.

March

We lost 1-0 to Acedemica in the first leg of the Portuguese Cup Semi Final, there's a return leg at their place where we could get ourselves back in the tie though.

625544c307f092c7fab5edf9b7d66b96.png

We progressed again in the Europa League with a 3-2 aggregate victory against FC Groningen, Felipe Branco was in fine form in the second leg to score the goal which took the tie to extra-time, where he then found the winner to see us make the Quarter Final.

ee9b864f1f96155c1c1c49f02e2b0c17.png

Not the best month in the league really, we slipped up at home to Rio Ave and then lost to Sporting Lisbon which could be a huge loss in our bid for a 3rd title in a row.

73b2665f25198acfaf558fcb40648e08.png

We're now 15 points off top spot but have 4 games in hand which would take us to 2nd if we win them all.

Well it's been a while, but yes, BET-PH71 is back in business! I was happily trodding along at Porto when I saw a news item that one of the Q managers had been sacked. I did fancy staying on at Porto as despite possibly being out of contention of the league title, we did still have the Europa League and the League Cup as possibly trophies, but ultimately I thought **** especially after we lost to Sporting Lisbon.

My last pound on Queen of the South.

Actually, forget that. I think it's QPR. But I'm not going to bet because 1/5 is hardly worth risking my last pound on! I'll wait for the next round. :D

Tactical betting. I like it!

£9 on Queen of the South for me please.

You were thinking about staying which for me means you had to think about taking it. If it was Queens Park Rangers you wouldn't have thought twice about it...I wish I put this much thought into my real betting.

Congratulations to jim owen, Maw74 and ExeChris who all correctly guessed Queens Park Rangers! There were minimal gains made due to the poor odds on offer but Maw74 and ExeChris do rise slightly in the rankings, with jim owen definitely now posing a threat to apchivers and SounessTash.

QPR sacked their manager which at first came as a bit of a surprise as they were doing alright at Christmas.

f77dfea9e0ed7ec3d97741903408f983.png

A closer inspection showed that Jack Colback and QPR had picked up just 4 points from their last 9 games, so it was no surprise they'd fallen so far. I was a bit skeptical initially about taking over as I was doing alright with Porto and felt we could've still won the league and maybe the Europa or the League Cup too, but once we lost to Sporting Lisbon that's when I decided **** it I'll take it now.

5b309128f697a952ee6eba1227d6ed33.png

My original plan was to try and delay my contract starting to the beginning of next season, I'm not sure if this was even a possibility though as I never attempted it. It did help that QPR's next 4 games all come against sides no higher than 12th, so in theory it should be feasible to get some points from that lot. The last 4 games of the season come against Man City away, Spurs away and Liverpool and Villa at home though, they're all quite good so we'd be lucky to get anything from those games.

There is a very real risk that we will get relegated and my reputation will take a hit. But hopefully it won't come to that!

Porto have since lost the League Cup final and been dumped out of the Europa League which makes me feel a bit more justified in my decision to leave when I did.

Season 25 (P)orto

In all honesty it was a sub-par season at Porto for me. We still had a side good enough to win the league but selling Marcelao probably wasn't the best move for me in hindsight if I'd known I was gonna go at the end of the season. I weren't sure how long I'd be stuck in Portugal though so at the time cashing in with 18 months left on his contract was the sensible move. Martins was a decent replacement but he was a bit injury prone and didn't score enough for us to be as competitive as we were with Marcelao.

Tim Hart was a great signing to be our new GK though and Mario who joined in January to replace Andre Luis was more than good enough. The likes of Felipe Branco, Filipe Jose and Emerson Luiz all had good seasons for us despite our relatively poor showing in the Portuguese PL and the cups. I still think I would've had a decent chance in the Europa League as apart from Inter Milan and Schalke there weren't really any sides left that I was that worried about. We also would've come 2nd I think and not the 4th that we were when I left due to having games in hand left over.

When I took over the Q.P.R. side was devoid of any real morale or form. I came in and tried to up spirits a bit. I couldn't use my standard tactic due to their being no DM's or CAM's at the club of note so I've had to resort to a good old 4-4-2. I had no idea what strategy to go with against West Ham, but a quick look at their results and they'd only won away from home twice all season, so I knew we should at least be aiming for a point. I went for a standard tactic and we did well with it, coming out of the match with a huge 3-0 win and an even bigger 3 points.

My next game was against Sunderland who are the best team of the sides in this 4 game run. I went a lot more defensive against them and we took the lead just after half-time through Neil Geddis. I couldn't believe it and thought I'd get two wins in a row but unfortunately they equalised late on which was really gutting. We then faced Watford in a relegation 6 pointer as they're right down there with us. I went into this really wanting a win and we took the lead just before half-time which was fantastic. Unfortunately we just couldn't hold on for the 3 points like against Sunderland so it ended in a 1-1 draw and a point a piece.

The last game with Exeter was one I was really hoping we could win, Exeter look safer than most but they're still down there and they actually have the worst away record of anyone in the league this season. We went 2-0 up through a brace from Neil Geddis and I was on cloud nine thinking we'd nailed 3 massive points. Exeter came roaring back and within 20 minutes, the worst side in the league away from home had put 3 past us at our place and we were set to lose. I went all out to avoid this happening and luckily Keith Yates popped up in injury time to equalise and save us a point.

It's really tight down there and despite us picking up 6 points in our last 4 games, everyone else around us is picking up points and winning too. I don't think we can stay up if we don't get a few points from our remaining games but they're all top sides apart from a huge clash with Spurs who are directly below us that is a massive must win game if we are to stay up now.

Well the unbeaten run is over. We lost 4-2 at home to City who look set to be crowned Premier League champions. No shame in losing to them but it was gutting as Neil Geddis made it 2-2 in the 73rd minute. The trouble I have is that against a side like City we're not good enough defensively to waste time and contain trying to hold on as we probably won't be able to anyway, but then if I keep attacking then we'll get caught on the counter. City made it 3-2 again soon after we equalised and then when trying to equalise we got done on the counter.

We're 16th with 3 games to go, although that loss did nothing to help our goal difference. Whilst Arsenal, Watford and West Ham all failed to win, they all did draw and picked up a point edging them closer and closer to us. Brighton have a game in hand at home to 8th place Everton and they could cause all kind of problems if they win that one.

Watford (managed by Jaap Stam) have now beaten Exeter and leap-frogged us in the process, putting even more pressure on our next match with my ex-club and currently 8th place Liverpool. This has also brought Exeter back into the mix, they probably thought they were safe but not anymore you would think.

A pretty awful game against my old side really. We were 2-0 down at half-time and whilst we were probably out of the game we weren't getting embarrassed. One of our CB's got a red card in the 50th minute though and it really wasn't great viewing from then on. There was no point going all out attack as we would've just messed up our goal difference with only having 10 men, but we still managed to let another 3 in which meant we lost 5-0 overall.

We're back in the relegation zone now and we really really need to get something at White Hart Lane.

fingers crossed for you. Although it would be pretty interesting seeing ou in the championship next season, absolutely dominating

Yeah I'm hoping we can stay up so I have a clean slate of never having been relegated on my CV but it would certainly be interesting to return to the Championship and challenge for promotion, certainly something different to what I've been doing the last few years.

Yeah not great. Not great at all.

We have 5th place Villa at home on the last today of the season and the only way we're staying up is if we win it. Villa need to win if they want top four so it's not like they have nothing top play for. Should be a very difficult game.

We gave it our all against Villa. It was a tight game but despite a hat-trick from on loan striker Neil Geddis, we couldn't beat Villa who were desperate to win to make top 4, they did and that meant that we have been relegated.

Season 25 (Q).P.R.

I've only been here 8 games so can't really give a full review but despite my best efforts to keep us up we've sadly been relegated to the Championship along with my ex-side Arsenal and another London club in West Ham. Nobody was that good really apart from on loan striker Neil Geddis from Man United - if we could get him on loan again in the Championship next season he could do some real damage down there.

Despite me saying I didn't think I could win the title with Porto they actually did manage to go on and pip Sporting Lisbon to win the league so funnily enough since I gave him 10 substitute appearances, Adam picked up his 3rd Portuguese PL winners medal and in the process has won more of them than me.

He's unhappy at Porto though due to lack of game time over the last few years and he was desperate for a new start and a new challenge. That's where QPR comes in and he will join us in the summer and in the Championship next season.

It's also a very sad season as it sees Roy retire from the game at 67 years old

We had some great times and success together at Ipswich, Juventus and Manchester United so it's very sad to see him retire :(

I've just been offered the Rangers job after they sacked their manager. It's not something I'd thought about and would've been a decent option I guess as I haven't been to Scotland yet. I may have taken it if I'd kept QPR up but it doesn't feel right jumping off the ship without rectifying the relegation first.

Elsewhere... Real Madrid did in-fact win La Liga which means their manager Pedro Emanuel is the first Madrid manager to keep his job after one season for like 8 years.

As I said Rangers sacked their manager. If he doesn't do better than the 7th place finish of last season in the SPL then he may well be replaced. Real Madrid my obvious first choice but they may well have found a manager that can do well for them now - hopefully they don't retain La Liga. Although who knows maybe my reputation might have taken a hit and I'll be unable to get that job. Raith are another possibility in Scotland, they've established themselves as a mid-table side in the SPL and I'm yet to manage in Scotland. Ross County too are in the SPL but are a relegation candidate so are less appealing at this point.

Real Betis, Recreativo and Real Sociedad also of La Liga are possibilities too, neither as appealing as Real Madrid of course, but both are decent sides with Real Sociedad regularly flirting with a top 4 finish. Rio Ave are a possibility if I fancied a return to Portugal again in the Portuguese PL.

Rubin in the Russian PL would be an option, so to would the Russian National Team job if their manager has a poor showing at the 2040 Euros and gets sacked. Romania are also an option if they even manage to qualify - interestingly they're currently managed by Adrian Mutu.

The other option is returning to Italy with Roma. They're the current Serie A champions though so I'm not sure how likely it is that their manager will get sacked as they seem to be a lot more tolerant with their managers than Real Madrid are.

Summer Transfers

We made about £35M in player sales from 3 guys which was pretty great. Leo Gillet far too good for the Championship and we couldn't turn down £18M for him. Scarfone wasn't good enough to help keep us up so he was gone, as was LB Francesco Canas, who whilst being good wasn't worth missing out on £8M for.

Yeah so we've signed a lot of players! Far too many to go into too much detail but I've packed out the squad with a primarily English core. The biggest signing though was resigning Neil Geddis on loan from Man United, he should hopefully bang them in for fun this season in the Championship.

We've signed a few more players, both who are probably too good for the Championship. Emilio Vegar who is a very decent Spanish CAM from Real Madrid and the man the myth the legend himself that I first brought to Liverpool... GRANT GRANT!!
