FFS he could've done with retiring last year :D

Meanwhile Real Madrid have departed with their manager for the 5th consecutive summer  Zidane is favorite for the job which would be pretty cool to see tbf. Although I don't want him to go there and do too well in-case I never get the job once I'm at a 'Q' side!

QPR did alright this season which has kept Jack Colback in the job.

Queen of the South and Queen's Park both had decent seasons in Scottish League 1 too which means I'll almost certainly still be at Porto next season.

Maybe the Qatar NT?

Cheers,

Bitner

Would certainly be an interesting option that I'd be up for, but doesn't look like the game I've set up allows me to manage the Qatar national team, like many others it hasn't appeared in the job centre screen which is a bit disappointing.

Meanwhile in Madrid...

X looks like the only one where there will just be one to choose from as Xanthi are currently the only ones. Xerex don't seem likely to become playable.

Y is the next worse off one, currently just Yenisey of the Russian PL and then League 2 sides York and Yeovil. Bit of a shame for Yeovil as they briefly had a time where they were a mid-table side in the Championship, but this since went down for a second time and are back where they started at the start of the game in League 2.

You should definitely load the Swiss league. Xamaz Neuchatel, Young Boys, Zürich - you could stay there for a long time... ;)

Definitely a possibility. Although I still have several countries loaded that I've not even visited yet - namely France and Scotland.

August

We had a very quiet summer. The board gave me a fair bit of money to spend last year, that seems to have caught up with them because as a result of that I was given a very small budget even with Champions League football. I spent most of budget renewing contracts of some of the better players who were moaning once bigger teams came in for them. Marcelao was well courted by a whole host of clubs but nobody would pay up the £40M price tag I stuck on him, so nobody got him. I think I've done well to hang onto the players we had before, whilst we haven't strengthened, the team was already decent and there's some younger players who will be better next season. I don't think we'll be worrying too many teams in the Champions League though.

We got some revenge over Estoril who somehow managed to win the Portuguese Cup last season. They did take us to extra time again but luckily Marfona and Adam got goals that prevented it from going to penalties.

d31ce3c7abc4f29294591f7d94f2e90f.png

A terrible start to the season saw us play a very tricky tie away to Benfica. We were 2-0 up after 5 minutes and I was in dream land, that quickly turned to a nightmare as by half-time it was 3-2 to Benfica. They got another one late on despite us mounting some sort of a comeback and very nearly equalising. It was a really gutting way to start the season. We spent half of last season unbeaten so to lose in our 1st game of the season was a massive wake up call. We've thankfully come back from that and smashed Academica 5-0 and Gil Vicente 3-0.

Overall a pretty good month. A bit disappointing to drop points at home to Braga, but we smashed Vit.Setubal and then came from behind to beat Madeira away which is a huge result considering how well they did last season.

I said we probably wouldn't trouble anyone in the Champions League and well, we haven't really. We lost 2-1 away to Galatasaray which is a terrible result considering their the weak link in our group. We did manage to salvage a point at home to a still very good Man United side.

459702a9faa847208fcd1ac07891425c.png

It's anyone's guess as to how this group goes. Barcelona aren't that great but I'd have thought they're better than Galatasaray. We might not even end up getting 3rd if things don't go our way :D

We got a decent point at home to Barcelona.

We're bottom of the group though, which isn't that decent.

We did pick up two easy wins in the league though.

We're up to 2nd place, just 2 points behind Benfica.

Another nice easy win in the Portuguese Cup.

A disappointing loss at the Nou Camp, followed up by a resounding 2-0 victory against Galatasaray at home.

A really big ask to even get in the Europa League now though, as we have United at Old Trafford in our last match. Think we lost it by losing in Turkey.

A good month as we won all 3 with relative ease.

Benfica top of the league on head to head at the moment, didn't realise it wasn't goal difference, hopefully that Benfica loss doesn't come back to haunt us later if we finish on level points.

Well that was an exciting final Champions League group game!

We took a surprise lead at Old Trafford in the 34th minute through Marceloa!

7cc008077302caeb0f00d2b1d9ef3cfc.png

This put us up at 2nd and qualifying to the knockout stages against all odds at Man United's expense!

United fought back though and got an equaliser through none other than Paterne Kabongo...

3c11f216307c19b8df5d4dba4f7eaf80.png

This put us all the way to bottom and United back to the top of the group :(

We had nothing to lose at this point so I just went all out for it, and then Marafona managed to grab a 2nd for us to put us back in front!

a6d0d49c9965f03860d277d82aed2660.png

And once again we were qualifying at United's expense!

I thought we might be able to hang on but after 5 minutes of injury time, Lorenzo Fedele, the man I brought to United popped up with a stunning strike to break our hearts...

As I've said it was a pretty good performance and a great result at Old Trafford, especially as it meant we avoided defeat against my old side twice. It was just a shame we messed up in Turkey as that cost us the chance to have any European football.

A good month in the league. Not great to drop points to Sporting Lisbon, but far from an easy place to go.

The slip up to Sporting Lisbon does mean Benfica now have a 2 point advantage over us going into the new year

Q.P.R. aren't doing as well as they were last season, but they're still 6 points above the relegation zone at the moment. I could really do with them going on a poor run. I've decided to declare interest in both of their strikers. I have no interest in either of them and tbh I can't afford either of them either, but hopefully they get annoyed and stop scoring goals :brock:

6ca445ce7bb417db39fbcf722577f1b8.png

Meanwhile in Scottish League 1... they literally couldn't be doing better if they tried :D The only silver lining is that if they both go up then one of them might get relegated and have their manager sacked. Scottish League 1 isn't appealing though :(

Maybe one of them will quit, I just lost to Leeds in the Play-Off Final then I was offered the job after their manager decided to retire.

Haha! That is hilariously devious. Reminds me of my old CM0102 Dagenham & Redbridge save where I bought my two promotion rivals' best striker then left them rotting in the reserves. (I'd edited it to give D&R loads of money)

Maybe as well when it isn't real. :D

I agree. On an unrelated note...what is your mother's maiden name?

What?! I was so excited with my winnings

I have a feeling your going to be at Porto for a few more seasons yet!

Yeah it does look like I'll be here for another season or so at the minimum

We live in hope! Or maybe Jack Colback will get a better job offer and leave QPR. Not sure how likely that is though.

They did show initial interest and got annoyed they weren't allowed to leave. They're still scoring though and I can't afford to buy them /o\

A 3-0 win over Olhanese sees us make the Portuguese Cup Semi Final. We now have the small task of having to face Benfica over two legs...

45bba1cd1fee7f1f7ad697e770eb9f16.png

A decent win but we've lost to our bogey side Estoril yet again, this time at home. Our new signing Lucky Mashego got on the score sheet but we weren't lucky enough to get another one.

It would be very annoying to go out of a cup to Estoril again even if they are 7th this season

A pretty poor month really. A disappointing loss at home to Benfica and then we followed it up with a loss away to Academica.

The pressure is certainly on now and it will be an uphill struggle to retain the league, we do have no European games which should boost our chances a bit.

An excellent month in the league though as we won all 5 of our games, including an impressive run of 4 straight away victories.

It's very very tight at the top of the table but we're back on top, above Madeira on results against each other.

We dropped points a couple of times this month which was annoying, but we ended the month on a positive with two wins where we got 3 goals in each, with Marcelao in great form.

eed55af359ec64ef67b5bc0da61037c0.png

Bit worried about Benfica's 2 games in hand. They do have a League Cup final and two Europa League semi final matches to worry about though. They've also got a harder run than us, as they still have to play Madeira away. Fingers crossed Madeira can do us a favour there and we win our remaining games!

Season 24 (P)orto

55c628e3ad64a964934b37e3446e8d11.png

Overall a very good season. Bit annoyed to go out in the League Cup so early, but being absent from that probably helped with fixture congestion later on in the season. Gutted to go out the CL and not even make the Europa, we royally messed that up, we did have a tough group though tbf.

Squad 1, Squad 2

GK - Palinha had another good season in goal. We managed to hang onto him despite interest from a whole host of decent clubs, they'll come back for him in the summer I'm sure but I won't sell unless it's silly money.

DR - Emerson Luiz went from strength to strength this season and had another great year. Brazil must have some very good RB's for him not to be getting caps.

DL - Leanardo Gamboa, a 19 year old from the Academy, over-took Alex as the first choice LB this season. His performances were impressive enough to gain him a regular place in the first team and a debut cap for Portugal.

DC - Our CB pairing of Andre Luis and Caio Henrique had another good year together, long may it continue.

DM - Graziano Mondo was our DM again this season as I didn't have any money to buy a replacement. He was pretty good this season tbf, much better than last season. I'd still replace him in the summer if I could though.

MC - Tinguinha suffered from a lot of injuries this season which lead to Javier Ruiz playing a lot. He was okay, not great though.

AMR - Felipe Jose had another fantastic season and was one of our best players once again. He ended the season with 24 assists and 20 goals, a great return.

AML - Felipe Branco usurped Gustavinho as first choice left winger this season. The versatile Colombian was impressive, getting 17 assists and 11 goals.

CAM - Killian Morillas ended up playing at CAM more than the young Bruno Lourenco this season, the 27 year old Spaniard was a back-up last season but he put in better performances this season. He weren't great but he was better than Lourenco.

ST - Marcelao had another spectacular year. He ended the season with 54 goals and 9 assists in 52 games. We held onto him last summer despite him wanting to leave, he's got 2 more years left on his contract so unless I get offered silly money I doubt I'll sell this summer.

Adam had another season as back-up CAM. He got a bit restless during the season but doesn't seem as annoyed now. A few of his stats have gone down a bit but a fair few of the mental ones have gone up a bit so not all bad news. He didn't get as many sub appearances this season due to less games played and the fact we were under pressure a bit more in some games this season.

Q-Watch

QPR slacked off majorly towards the end of the season and a poor run saw them drop from comfortably mid table to 17th. It seems though that due to Sheffield Utd, Southend (:() and Reading being so much worse, that they were never really in much danger of going down. Jack Colback is still secure as QPR manager so I won't be going there this summer unless he ends up leaving. I think QPR will definitely be one to watch next season though especially if their poor form continues, as Arsenal and Brighton stormed the Championship so should both be quite strong, especially Arsenal. They'll be joined by the surprise package of the Championship this season - Exeter City.

Meanwhile in Scottish League 1...

Queen of the South went up as Champions and their manager is now very secure. Queen's Park finished 2nd, though failed to qualify through the play-offs. Their manager is still at least secure though, so it looks like I'll at least be starting next season at Porto.

Not only did our star striker, Marcelao, leave in the summer, but so too did our Goalkeeper, Palinha. I thought that £24M for him was too much to turn down so he went. I didn't get that much money to get in reinforcements this summer due to wage increases, a 20 percent transfer fee allowance as well as spending money on agent and signing on fees for the two players I signed to replace the departures.

Gilson Martins joins from Zenit to replace Marcelao. He's not as good on paper as Marcelao, and is far slower, but he does have the benefit of being far greater in the air than his predecessor was. We'll see how he gets on. A familiar face in Tim Hart joins us to be our new GK. Tim is 33 now and has 36 caps for England. He United spent big money this summer to replace him, so he was available at a very decent price.

He was delighted to be reunited with me  The son I never had!

We beat Sporting Lisbon to claim the Super Cup. Gilson Martins scored an impressive brace on his debut to help seal the game for us.

A very promising start to the season with 9 points from 9. We very nearly dropped points at home to Academica but Felipe Branco popped up with a late winner.

Adam has gone on loan to 3rd tier Portuguese side Atletico CP. It was a move that he wanted and asked for as he was frustrated at lack of first team football in the last season, so fair play to him and let's hope he can do well down there! I'll be keeping an eye out.

A pretty good start to our Champions League run. We demolished my old Greek sides biggest rivals AEK Athens 6-0 at home. We went to Shakhtar and things got off to a terrible start, we were 3-0 down within half-hour. We came back into the game in the second half though, and thanks largely to a Luis Serrao brace we pulled off a huge comeback to get a point.

We've been drawn against my old side United once again. I'm looking forward to the double header with them, it will be great to see Roy again a few times before he retires. Kabango is 36 in January so he probably doesn't have too long left either, though he does have 4 in 9 games so far this season.

A good month sees us win away at Trofense and comfortably at home to Madeira. We avoided defeat against Benfica away from home with a 1-1 draw which is a decent result all things considered.

A bit of a disappointing loss at home to United.

We're still in a decent position in the group though.

We couldn't get anything at Old Trafford but we won 3-0 in Greece.

We'll be through if we beat Shakhtar at home in our final game

Meanwhile we had a lackluster month in the league we dropped points in both of our games.

Our League Cup campaign is off to a good start.

We've been very lucky in the Portuguese Cup. We've struggled in our two away games, we only beat Moireirense on penalties, though we did well tbf as we won 11-10 on penalties with keeper Tim Hart scoring the 11th and then saving their final pen from his opposite number.

We could only draw with Shakhtar which sadly puts us out of the Champions League.

AEK were **** though so we comfortably made our way into the Europa League this time at least.

2 games, 2 wins this month. We got lucky away to our bogey side Estoril though, Marafona came off the bench to bring us from 1-0 down. Absolute scenes at the end.

We're down to 2nd but have two games in hand on Sporting Lisbon.
