Manchester United Thread 2015/16

It's that double edged sword again - great that we're not the only ones playing like *****, but that nagging sense of what could('ve) be(en).

andy Goldstein on the sports bar/talksport who is involved with MUTV stated about 30 mins ago there will be a big announcement form OT tomorrow

the positive/optimistic options-

is LVG getting the bullet or has he done the decent thing and fallen on his sword?? :D

is jose on his way in?

are the club going to announce pep will be taking over in summer

negative

board are going to state 100% they fully support LVG and he is going to see out his contract no matter what

giggsy taking over

rooney signs new £500k a week contract for 10 years;)

or something to distract from the pile of poo we have to watch week in week out(this most likely)

but hoping its good news

I'd imagine it'll be the grand unveiling of our new official North African insole partner.

yes lol:D

I hope its a change LVG looks a broken man even if he gets it right ie wins boring it still isnt what most Utd fans want we want style and substance, think he will go if not now in the summer he has had enough

Best case would be LvG stepping down at the end of the season with Pep coming in I think.

But we've almost certainly got a new South American mechanical suction-based floor cleaning partner.

think pep is going elsewhere, hope I am wrong but it is city or Chelsea

so looking like jose or giggsy with ancelotti going to Bayern, the board has to act now either get an agreement with pep in place(but its too late sure its done that's why he has announced he is leaving)so if its to be jose he is free go for him now

there cant be anymore mistakes so go for the best option and NOW

it wont be pep...................99% its going to be giggs, and that will be the biggest mistake of them all, didnt want to be jose but we have missed klopp/ancelotti and dont think pep will come so its got to be jose but think the board will get it wrong AGAIN

The possibility of Giggs vs Pep / Klopp / Simeone / Wenger next year is quite frightening.

If it is Giggs, he will have to bring in someone hugely experienced next to him and not one of the '92.

Best scenarios:

1) mourinho takes over immediately

2) giggs takes over until end of season then pep takes over

Worst:

LVG stays for the rest of season.

Giggs now for Utd would be like Neville in Valencia now, a recipe for disaster. Man Utd need someone experienced at this stage, its not like they have already a winning foundation that someone else can just take over.

I would be fine with Giggs until the end of the season. Can't be much worse than LvG.

Why don't we just get rid of both LvG AND Giggs? Heard he was the one who vetoed Thiago's transfer to us eventhough Moyes wanted him because Giggs claimed he wasn't a "United" type of player. Not sure if its true or not, because he sure should've stopped Fellaini's then.

Either way, seems like Van Gaal while doing pretty terrible at the moment, is constantly getting riled up by Giggs in his ear. It must get frustrating having an assistant who thinks he knows better when he has no experience at all. Just get Mourinho in and let him bring an assistant he wants.

LVG constantly getting riled u by Giggs in his ear? Since when... apart from Norwich Giggs always seems very much like the silent partner..?

Is there still supposed to be an announcement today?

My money on Jose.

The moreI think about it, the more I want Pochettino.

Proven good work at 2 clubs, young, hungry and plays attractive football.

Bring in the Poch.

Pretty sure there were reports of Giggs arguing with LvG in training over styles of play and player selection amongst other things. If he's not riling him up on the pitch, I doubt he will keep silent behind doors.

Won nothing. Not even close to being qualified. Not to mention he's going to do what every other Spurs manager does after a reasonably bright and hopeful start and start to crumble.

We shouldn't be looking at someone with a slightly inferior record at Spurs than Tim Sherwood and Villas Boas.

Whatever happens, I think any manager needs to get rid of Giggs. He has been a millstone around LVG & Moyes, & if Mourinho comes in will be a millstone around his neck. The thought of having him as Manager is frightening. Dagenham are looking for a new manager. That will be a good challenge to prove himself.

And this is why we'll end up with Mourinho, the same Mourinho who has lost the dressing room in both of his last jobs.

We need patience, youth and forward thinking. A coach from the new breed of managers, Not someone only here for 2 years to win trophies - mainly because we don't have a squad anywhere good enough to challenge for trophies.

So only Pep or Mourinho are ever going to win stuff?

Anyways, LVG has gone apparently.

There are other options, less ideal or guaranteed ones. But someone isn't going to go from being a middling manager at Spurs to being good enough to achieve what Man Utd want to achieve.

That's very belittling of what he has achieved at Spurs. He's an excellent manager and transformed that team.

What Man Utd want to achieve is completely the problem. No one, I fear, is going to be good enough for what we want to achieve in the short term, it's completely unrealistic. The club needs a complete overhaul - we need a long term solution - not one here to win a few trophies and then bugger off and not one that's nearing retirement with outdated methods.

What United need to do is stop the rot first. While keeping tabs on managers coming through. The ideal of managers sticking around for 6-7 years is a rarity in truth. The only chance of that is one of the old boys, and none are currently ready for that. Maybe Neville, which we will find out at Valencia.

He's transformed the team from one that wins nothing to? Oh yeah... one that wins nothing.

We need a manager who knows how to win. Winning breeds winning and the longer we go without doing it the harder it is to start again.

Can't see Jose starting for the Chelsea game. That would be mental, and a game he would need to win. Better to wait until after that game.

Excited. Love Jose

Don't think I'd want him here if he didn't want to manage against Chelsea. He's got a perfect working knowledge of their squad and we have a shot at the title, can't be giving away points just because it might be a bit awkward.

It also doesn't seem like Jose at all, the man loves a confrontation.

If we get tonked by Stoke he will be gone which is a shame in a way but once we went down the route of sack and splash cash, we were on that train. Next guy will splash more cash and have us no better and then get sacked. With the guy after him, we will rein in the spends which will doom his reign and so on and so on. Welcome to reality of football that SAF shielded us from

The quick turnover of managers was never going to be stymied once we hired a guy considering retirement. Get Jose in to win some pots and dispel this idea that Fergie is some sort of irreplicable god and then get the long term guy in when it all goes to ratshit.

I mean it hasn't done any harm to literally every other club in existence apart from Arsenal over the last 20 years has it? Managers are plenty capable of bringing about short term success, if a club can't survive a change of managers and remain successful it's a very badly run club.

This idea that we're doomed if we don't find a replacement for SAF is silly, stick with good managers and success will come. If someone special crops up then nab them, if not go for the next safe pair of hands. What we need to do is sort upstairs out, we can't allow every manager to come in and change everything and "rebuild", that is over now. What we need is managers who will come in and improve on what we have.

Whether Jose is that guy or not is a matter of opinion, but the idea that you can't be hugely successful while chopping and changing managers isn't true. You don't go for a long term option unless there is a viable long term option available and those are exceptionally rare.

Has anyone been consistently successful changing managers without putting shitloads of cash behind them though? Which is harder to do both for us under Glazer and relatively to other teams in the division like Chelsea and city.
