FM15: Tottenham Hotspur - Always Take Lamela With You

I am in a bit of a bind, I like Ben Davies, he has performed well for me and I know he has great potential. The problem is, I have always thought of him as upgradeable, and I thought about 30 million pounds would be about the right price. Am in the winter transfer window of the second season and Barcelona have bid 30 million for him, I have accepted and now I need to replace him. I have Benjamin Mendy as his back up, but I need another guy. I would prefer not to spend all the money I got from him on his replacement. Any ideas?

Jose Luis Gaya could be a good shout

Five pages! Keep it up, guys.

Wow if this was IRL I would hate supporting Tottenham!!! Ha! No offense I think what your doing is brilliant and the young players coming through is very very impressive but no signings!!!! I couldn't live without making that one signing you love!!!! How is the bank balance????

Ha, I know! The crazy silly seasons are definitely an important part of following Spurs. However, if the club keeps buying duds like Soldado, they might as well go down my route. Or maybe it's me following Pochettino. Either way, I felt myself becoming Wenger last season: "I believe in ze kids" when everyone around us could see the obvious need for reinforcements. Thankfully, no Mourinho can brand me a specialist in failure after the league finish.

My biggest problem with the transfer market is that I'm always anxious that I haven't scouted enough, that I will miss that great bargain. Now I don't have to worry about none of that.

The bank balance is pretty healthy. We had around £225m at the end of the season.

What happens in 2017? Does the club move somewhere else while the final year's work is done on "New White Hart Lane" or do they just stay at WHL?

Some players have reported the club hiring or even buying Wembley!

Me, I removed the stadium move in the pre-game editor, since everything seems up in the air IRL. Instead we're playing at an expanded 45k White Hart Lane, which seems to be the max capacity.

£600k! £600k! My transfer budget for summer 2017 is £600k :(

It's Daniel Levy - what did you expect?

I'd let you have some of mine if it only was possible.

Jeez. What am I doing wrong on the financial front??

Ha he hasent spent any money the crazy fool! Lol! I couldn't do it!!! Going to have to stick to one save I think, the 3 I am doing are taking some time. Interestingly, my newest save is looking towards improving and bringing through youth. Odegaard play's when I feel

he could be needed. I have bought a few big signings to allow this. Broke the bank for Kovacic once I got rid of Vertonghen,Adebayor,Paulinho and Lennon. Along with Kovacic came Insigne,Balanta,Joe Gomez,Coric,Bonazzoli,Alper Ademoglu,Odegaard,Ajer,John Saeter,

Norbay and Vellejo. Vellejo is storming Ligue 1 with Metz at 17 years old taming Zlatan in a 1-0 win! Bonazzoli is @ Bristol City with 12 goals in 20 games. Coric is destroying teams with Swindon and Ajer/Saeter/Ademoglu/Norbay are doing the bizz with Azzuoui in the

under 18's!!! Interestingly unlike previous saves Thomas Glover only has 2* potential where Onomah has 3.5*!

I always tend to favour bringing through youth - unless I have the youngest average squad age in the league I feel like I'm doing something wrong! Even my signings tend to be young players - in this save I have Gabriel Barbosa, James Wilson, and Kristoffer Ajer all becoming important players. I also have a couple of newgens around the squad, as well as Bentaleb, Kane, Onomah, Azzaoui, Veljkovic, Archer and Glover.

It's quite exciting having a handful of youngsters at the club that could actually become good first team players. Players like Kane, Mason, Bentaleb, Townsend etc have always tended to have their potential vastly underrated until they break in to the first team IRL. Shame it's not tended to be spotted by the researcher.

What DosSantosFC said.

In four years I've bought players for £40m in total, sold for £75m. We're contiously playing in the CL, an improved profile means more sponsorship monies and we've had an average attendance near 44k for the last couple of years.

To be fair, I also edited away the big ass loan (is it £340m?) before starting, since I assumed it had to do with the new stadium.

+1

Must say that Townsend is really good this year, if you find a suitable role. I discovered how awesome he can be when I signed him as a panic buy on deadline day for QPR in another save. After that, I give him all the playing time in the world for Spurs too.

Link to post

Not to keen on Townsend. Found him to be really inconsistent, like Chadli though, always seems to do really well for me and is always being linked with big clubs after half a season with me, same applies with Chiriches, don't understand why people get rid of him! I am

feeling a fun save coming on where I'd create myself as a youth player and just play him with a -9 potential just to see how good I could get him as well as others and try and base a team around him. Also, thought b good to see if you could potentially have 1 world class centre back, centre mid and possibly a centre forward and field the rest as youngsters and see how well you can do as well as how much they improve being around those sort of players

Link to post

Wow that is impressive, really looking to press on with my plans on that save to focus on youth whether that be buying in or through academy. Just into March and low and behold, a 15 year old centre mid. with 4* potential! The rest are awful!

Have you signed them up yet? Sometimes the youth gets a bump in their ratings once they've signed a contract.

First season double(Capital One Cup, League) and it came down to the final day. Can't believe I was cheering on West Ham! Good lads...

Still got the Europa League final against Roma up next.

Star Performers :

Really surprised with Dembele, he's been unplayable at times and I'm happy I kept a hold of him. Lamela really suffered from a couple of bad injuries which allowed Ocampos and Depay to really step up. The main men are of course the combo of Eriksen & Kane, Kane could have gotten a lot more I reckon but I gave Adebayor a lot of games and he managed 16 goals in 16 games so not too bad.

Will try and get a proper update after the Europa League final and preseason is done, really enjoying playing as Spurs, think i'll play this long term.

AMAZING! All this talk of him on here made me pretty excited to see he got his real life first team debut last night.

Yeah, I'm pretty stoked myself. Think it's the first time ever one of my players wins that award, so it feels pretty special.

Sadly, I'm afraid he won't become quite so special IRL.

Very well done.

Got a screenshot for your tactics/first XI?

Yeh I left it to Thomas Albeck my Youth Development coach to pick. Ive been search using a little trick I found on sortitoutsi (should I be saying that) where you look at the young wonderkids and go to their agent or a regened agent and they should have some good young players on their books. It works, ive found 2/3 Chilean 16 year olds with 4* potential.

Something I do is, on the day I get my new youth intake, I ask my scouts to produce team reports on all the good teams and those with well respected youth academies. This means when you go to the team report for their youth squad you can see the rough potential of all their kids and, if you're quick about it, offer the good ones contracts before their team does. It only works about 30-40% of the time - I guess they're pre-disposed to signing with the club they came through at - but it's a good way of adding 1 or 2 good players to your academy each March.

Good one to know. Ive been a lot more researched on this save. Looking at ways to making a successful youth squad and produce new good regens as well as finding them. I have 3/4 players joining in a years time from South America without work permit problems after appealing to the bitter end! All of them 4* potential! Always find Watford have a good couple of youngsters!

As for the skin question I can't actually remember, I'll check when I'm home but it's either the default or Steklo(sp?)

Yeah ill post a screenshot of my tactics with my end of season update although the squad is in a bit of flux just now with a whole host of players leaving including Soldado, Fazio, Eriksen(blasphemy I know) among a lot more, the money I've raised has quite frankly astounded me. Winning the league definetly added a fee million onto some players worth which has majorly helped, may need some advice when thinking about replacements of strengthening.

Can't remember the DoF that Spurs start out with but he's been excellent for me, found me a CB from Granada in Spain who looks immense and his finest work is so good I'll wait till the update to share as even I was taken aback!

Why? everything I have read on him he is very highly rated

I'm sure he is, but talented enough to play the World Cup for England and joining the exclusive Golden Boy awards club?

That would be Franco Baldini.

Personally I never use the DoF, though I have toyed with the idea of doing a Football Head Coach save - where I would leave ALL transfer/contract decisions to the board. "Oh, you didn't need a forth right back but absolutely zero attacking reinforcements this window? Sorry, my bad."

Well, I’ve reached the end of my second season with Spurs. The first season was pretty much a disaster as I bounced between variants on 4-1-2-2-1 and 4-2-3-1, trying to get some sort of consistency. While I know that switching regularly can cause issues in its own right, there weren’t any radical switches other than going from a DM to an AM – the rest was all down to individual instructions.

Anyway, come season end I was stuck in mid-table and I suspect it was only my reasonable cup performances that saved me – reaching the League Cup final and the semi-finals of the FA Cup and Europa League.

The second season went better as we finished 2nd on the last day, pipping Chelsea as we drew with Fulham and they lost their match. United were runaway winners, thrashed us 4-0 in the FA Cup final and also picked up the European Cup. Arsenal slumped out of the Champions League places, but won the Europa League. Liverpool tipped us out of the Europa League in the quarter-finals when Balotelli scored in both legs.

So I’m at mid-June 2016, and my team is as follows:

GK: Lloris, Vorn

DR: Walker, Jon Flanagan, Yedlin (probably another season out on loan for him)

DL: Scott Malone

DC: Vertonghen, Fazio, Dier, Andre Wisdom, Toby Alderweireld (just signed for 3 million)

DM: Capoue, Bentaleb, George Thorne

MC: Sergi Roberto, Paulinho, Will Hughes

AMC: Eriksen, Onomah (apparently!)

AML: Chadli, Lennon

AMR: Alessio Cerci (just signed), Townsend

SC: Christian Benteke, Soldado, Kane

I’m going to try and move Fazio on as he keeps getting injured and wants to walk back into the first team as soon as he’s fit (not match-fit, either). Wisdom made the fans’ 11 in his absence, and Alderweireld for my money is even better.

Notable departures:

Lamela – 38 million to Monaco – Unsettled and honest enough to admit he wanted a bigger contract

Davies – 10 million to Liverpool – Getting the money back on a good but not great player

Stambouli – 9 million to Liverpool – Unsettled after I refused the first bid, and it’s not a bad profit on him

Dembele – 8 million to Man Utd – I took a chance in January and we just got away with it

Naughton, Kaboul and Adebayor all left in the first season for about 10 million in total.

Soldado’s in the last season of his contract, and will probably be let go come the end – or given one more year. I’m fairly happy with Benteke, and Kane’s an able substitute. Capoue, Kane, Paulinho and Malone also have 1 year left on their deals, and in the case of the two midfielders it's hard to argue I should renew their deals. Anyone had any experience getting good deals (like, turning a profit) for them?

In general, I’m looking for suggestions on where and how to improve the team. I need a fourth winger if Cerci won’t sign, and a new left back as an absolute minimum.

I have about £30 million to spend, and the board are taking at least 50% of anything earned from sales to pay off the (presumably) stadium debt – given how much the club has already paid in real life, I think 340 million is crazy, but there we are.

Interesting save you have. I would of kept Lamela at all cost, he is on 25 goals for me on my current save with 3 games left but obviously saves vary etc. How is Sergi Roberto and Will Hughes doing for you? Do you still have Holtby?

Left back- Ben Davies ;-) .... R. Rodriguez or try Digne, may still be able to loan him depending on where he is, there is quite a few LB's out there.

Winger- Go young perhaps and look at people like Grealish, Murphy?!?!?!

Started a game with Spurs and 1st season was very poor finished 6th in league was very inconsistent, tried to bring in plenty top English players

so far 2nd season has stared well sit top after 4 games so hopefully more consistent this season

i have bought and sold many players over all transfer windows my current squad looks like this

GK: Lloris - Vorm

DR Walker - Clyne

DC Balanta - Stones

DC Kaboul - Dier

DL Gaya - Davies

DMC Gil Romero - Lucas Romero

MC Barkley - Paulinho

MC Eriksen -

AMR Lamela - A. Traore (loan)

AML Depay - Chadli - Townsend

FC Lacazette - Hernandez chicarito (loan) - Kane - Berahino

Any player not listed there has been sold or out on loan managed to get good money for Adebayor, Soldado etc

Board want me to challenge for league title this season so hope can get champ league places at least

I like the look of Rodriguez a lot, but Barcelona snapped him up before I had a chance to. 21 million! Chelsea have got Digne for 10 million.

I got Cerci when Atletico accepted a bid including 10 million after 10 internationals. Considering he's not played for them this year, including at the Euros, I'm fairly comfortable with that - if he performs well enough to get into the squad, so be it, it'll mean he's tearing things up for us! I'm taking a look at Grealish even so, and Jacob and Josh Murphy (I presume it was one of those?) are both on my shortlist/being scouted. Chadli may be leaving if I get a stupid bid for him, so a cheap replacement would be ideal.

I didn't like Lamela leaving, but he was agitating for a move and the money on offer was good enough to accept. I did scout around for a straight replacement, but ended up playing Eriksen out wide when Chadli/Lennon weren't available.

Thorne and Hughes have just signed from Derby - they spent last season back on loan there, so we'll see how they do this time around. From past experience, Hughes will turn out excellent. That may have changed!

Roberto's been okay. I picked him up for in the January window in the first season £2.5 million when Barcelona decided to cash in on him. He's averaged just under 7, but was improving towards the end of last season. He's Eriksen's understudy, broadly, but got a fair amount of games last season for one reason or another.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Josh Murphy is the one I am on about, still at 4* potential in season 2. There is a lot of youngsters out there mate if you want some depth. Have you been on this thread http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php/400127-FM15-Good-Youngsters . Its worth looking at them and to be honest I find it fun focusing on the younger players seeing if I can produce the best out of them!

Hi guys, Just completed my 3rd season with Spurs doing the league and cup double! Also being knocked out of the champions league in the quarters by real madrid and a certain Mr Bale!

My team currently is as follows:

Playing attacking with the following shouts on:

play out of defence

work ball into box

close down often

stand up more

higher tempo

Gk - Hugo - world class enough said

DL (a) - Jonathan Silva - Hugely recommend everyone signing this guy, costs a fair bit but is simply outstanding

DR (a) - Kyle Walker - Kept the faith but is looking a bit out of his depth at the minute

DC (d) - Jesus Vallejo - Boy wonder is certaily filling his potential

DC (d) - Eder Balanta/Terrance Kongolo - Hard to rotate these 3 CBs but all do more than enough when called apon

DM (Halfback) - Lucas Romero - Holds, plays it simple and takes a mean pen! one of the 1st on the teamsheet

CM (ball-winning Support) - Mattias Krannevitter/Paulinho - Both contribute defensivly and pop up with fair share of goals. solid

CM (advanced playmaker) - Christian eriksen - Player of the year 2 years in a row, cub icon in the making

RW (winger support) - Erik Lamela - Scores for fun!!!! just rejected a £71m bid from bayern (i think it was them) for him

LW (Ramdueter) - Memphis Depay - again a born goal scorer in this position. Gets so many chances a game he probably should be scoring more often!

CF ( Advanced Forward) - Richairo Zivkovic - 25 goals last season and is progressing along nicely

Subs

GK - Lee Nichols

DF - Balanta/Kongolo

DF - Santos (regen LB)

MF - Kranevitter/Paulinho

MF - Martin Odegaard

F/CF - Jaja (regen)

CF - Donis Advidaj

I a still struggling to bring through some high qaulity youngsters. I have top rated acadamy/recruitment/coaches but seem to get only 1 at best potential player who is rated a potential 4 star. Is there anything you guys can help me with on the youth front? would love to bring through some youth talent but see to struggle

Thanks in advance

You may want to make Kane unlearn his shoot from distance ppm if possibe. He is going to shoot alot from distance because of it. I know that he has pretty high long shot attribute but shooting nearer always has a better chance of scoring.

Good call. He doesn't do much for me, but I will try this. Also HI!

Random Tumbleweed.....

Haha, I know.

Personally I had to take a break from my save after edging too close to burnout. Last season ended pretty badly despite Hurricane being top scorer in the league, let's see if I can find the enthusiasm again. It's the summer of 2019 and we're just about to sell the last of the superstars. Man Utd offered me a job interview but I'm not done with Spurs yet!

Oh boy.

Squad registration time, and we have a grand total of 15 senior players (aged 21 or higher). This will be an interesting season. Possibly my last, depending on Levy's patience / if the kids can take the next step.

I haven't played for a couple of weeks so nothing to update. I think I might have lost interest in this save... it may be time to give someone else a go and come back to Spurs once the data update happens and the squad is replenished with all of our big signings ;)

Picked up FM15 on Friday after having a bit of a break (FM12 being the last) and gone straight in with the Spurs save. Midway through Feb an 3rd in the league 2 points behind Chelsea (tho they have a game in hand) and into the last 8 of the FA Cup. I started this game with transfers disabled at the start to give me a chance to get to assess the current squad. I also don't like buying every bargain / wonderkid out there preferring instead to add 2/3 players each window and ensure squad harmony.

I also want to challenge myself to win the league with an all British team if possible and have given myself a 7 season deadline, hopefully this final season will include getting Gareth Bale back to finish his career here :) Now I know just buying all Brits will be a hard task in 7 seasons so I am happy to buy foreign with a view to them helping the stature of the club improve and to hopefully make some profit when I do move them on..

First transfer window I sold Vertonghen to Man U for £20m (a paltry sum I know, should have read this thread before starting) and have bought Balanta and John Stones, also agreed deal for Odergaard to join in the summer. Tried to get rid of Kaboul too as he has seen red twice and gets booked everytime he plays, no takers and upset a few in the squad when stripped of captaincy! So I now have the back four sorted and a couple of English subs so got a good platform, where to go from here..

I have earmarked Joe Gomez and Patrick Roberts as future signings (potentially Jack Grealish if I decide to include Eire!) but not sure where else to be looking. Any recommendations guys? I think the hardest part will be the keeper and strikers to compliment Kane, he is going nowhere!

Thanks in advance

For a good young 'keeper - Thomas Glover has good potential and is already at the club (but he's Australian, not British). There's a dearth of good, young British strikers; the best is probably James Wilson but getting him off United will cost you. Some people on other threads have had success with Cauley Woodrow from Fulham so he might be worth a look.

I'd always recommend Will Hughes too; a good prospect in midfield.

Joe Gomez is a good call, wonderkid for me in the second season. I have Ings and Berahino, Ings was a bargain in January of the first season and he is doing alright in the second season. Berahino hasn't developed as well as I had hoped, overtaken by others and when given the chance he hasn't delivered.

Joe Gomez is in my squad and I just picked up Dele Alli at 21 years of age in like 2017 and his stats look really good for a guy who has spent a lot of time in League 1. Snapped him up for 3.2 mil and he will be tutored by Moussa who is a legend at the club. One of the favs. I think he could be a direct replacement minus the tackling prowess, but I will try and train him on that.

finally got this achievement (breaking greaves' 220 league goals record)... sad to break it though! next up is the appearances which will be slightly harder!

Great achievement! I'm hoping to do the same with Harry Kane. How many seasons did it take? Would you post a screenshot of his season history?

Good luck breaking the Perryman appearances record; by my calculations someone would need to play every game for 17 and a quarter seasons!

Will post his season history later tonight when im on pc. I think 10 seasons as i am in 24/25 season now. Also for the intake you know you can go to world > tranfsers > youth intake and see all youth? Then drag and select scout all!

That must take your scouts ages!! But a good tip.
