Wiggins Top Boys
I honestly think modern football is over thought, there are very few teams who have fantastic success with Tiki Taka modern day formations, Defending has become dreadful because central defenders spend most of the time worrying about passing the ball about at the back for 15 minutes than actual defending, whose idea was it who thought central defenders could suddenly start comfortably knocking it about like world class midfielders ? why have classic full backs become wingers who spend most of their time out of position ?? And as a fan there's nothing more boring than watching a league one team pass it around the back all game as if they are Barcelona. Zzzzzz
Kriss
I must be watching a different game to many, it's going exactly as I would expect, frustrating? it was always going to be, ticki tacki? balls just trying to pick a way through. Now they have the goal they can afford to be more direct.
pearcey_90
What I'm most interested in is are we going to keep this up for the full 90. As if we do more clearer chances will open up as Estonia come mentally fatigued, but got to keep the ball moving a bit quicker and the runs still going. At the moment it seems to be slowing down especially the runs which is rather disappointing to see. The better nations will still keep the runs going the full 90 and start scoring more 70+ onwards as in the past we've seen Spain do loads. Don't score for 60, then all of sudden knock a few in towards the end.
Emersonlfc
I'd rather not go to major tourni for 30 years then magically qualify like we have than watch this drivel. Pathetic.
Anti Spiral
Estonia are a good defensive side, hardly surprising the match has been dull.
skybluedave
Good play from Vardy. Games been full. Estonia defend well and we've pretty much not bothered the 2nd half. I like Barkley though. He's not top class or anything but you can see the potential. He's unlike anything else we have in midfield so we should persist.
Wiggins Top Boys
Barkley really annoys me but he played well
Matthew Le God
Good play from Vardy. Not really, he was only able to do what he did because he shoved his opponent in the back which put him off balance and unable to get the ball. Should have been given as a foul.
Heartwork
Lallana was impressive. Vardy was decent. Squad on the whole looked good, Kane was not given the service he needs but worked more to link up those around him. I do not rate Sterling at all, his goal was simply law of averages that you could only screw up so many times before you do something right. Barkley was good again but still has that tunnel vision when he runs with the ball which means nothing comes of it. Only other main problem is that we simply do not have anyone who can cross the ball. We're seriously missing a wide player that can send in a pinpoint cross to the striker in the middle of the park and without that Kane won't get any real service, because the fullbacks aren't made for crossing and the wide attackers are always cutting inside to have a go themselves like it's Virtual Pro on FIFA. Needs to nail a position though, and develop attributes that mark him as a clear player in that position. by that I mean, he seems to have No.10 attributes, and then some that suit more of a central attacking midfielder. I think it will work against him at this level, because he won't be good enough for either of them

Razzler
Bit frustrating the end product sometimes but it's playing against the computer in a football game, you know you're better so you half arse it a little bit 100% record would be good, we've never done it and it doesn't get done a lot. We don't have the easiest group in the campaign and I am sure when the draw was made we had the usual 'Switzerland will finish above us' type reactions we have to every group. I think the Swiss were even ranked ahead of us at the start of the campaign. Opening game away win kind of killed that though. Slovenia have been weird, draw at home to Lithuania and lost away to Estonia opening group game too. They're in our next group for World Cup Quals too IIRC Couple of fringe players maybe getting a run out on Monday, could be useful but we do still want to win. I'd expect our squad to beat them either way despite a good away draw to Slovenia for them

The fringe players will want to stake a claim for the finals squad in the summer. Not to mention the Liverpool lot will be hoping to impress Klopp who'll no doubt be watching the games to keep an eye on Lallana and Ings.

skybluedave
Yeah that post is nonsense. Despite our average tournement record, I still love it when it rolls around every 2 years. The build up, the atmosphere in the pubs, the wayward imagination (maybe this is our year) and then the swift countrywide dissection of why we went out. It's great. Little more memorable moments to take away would be quite nice though, still nobody can take away the memories of coming from 2-1 down to beat Sweden in Euro2012 and when.... well that's about it really. But you get my point.

Defenders have long been comfortable on the ball and considered the first point of an attack (Beckenbauer probably the most famous example) whilst full backs who act as wingers are not exactly a new thing either (think that one came out of Brazil's introduction of four defenders). Also, "tika taka modern day formations" literally makes no sense.
Heartwork
Pretty sure Gary Neville always used to overlap with Beckham out on the right of midfield when both used to play for United and England.
Bliss Seeker
Standard 2-0 win. Did anyone see Sterling try the flip flap thing and mess it up? I think everyone thought the same: leave that **** to the Brazilians mate. Barkley is like the Waterboy. I can't figure out if he's dumb, or still working out who he is. He's so raw. He has talent, that's obvious, but there's little point having talent if you haven't a clue what to do with it. Still young though, excited to see what he becomes. Becoming quite obvious that Kane is nothing special. Solid enough striker, but talisman put your hopes on guy, he is not. Loving Smalling this season. Looks like so assured now. Is Cahill really the best we have? That's depressing.

Kriss
I believe that at one stage that was the youngest team England have had on the pitch in a competitive match, that's a good sign. Heartwork
Hart and Rooney are out. Butland to start in goal which is a good thing, gives him some important international experience. I'd hope Danny Ings is given minutes, he's been impressive for Liverpool and could make that next important step under Klopp to form a lethal partnership with Sturridge up front. But you get my point. Absolutely, also, it's about the hope, the expectation (and trepidation) and the downs as well as the few highs. That's football really No one has any right to win stuff, I always go into a tournament wanting to get out the group and then see how it is in the knockout phase. You find yourself in a 1/4 final and anything can happen. Our record would look a hell of a lot better if we turned even one of those 1/4 final defeats into a semi and not been so hopeless on pens That doesn't change now, I hope to get out the group and see how things fall although. People being bored of qualifying be careful what you wish for with less and less English players at top clubs and in the CL

Think Baines will struggle to get into the side/squad if I'm honest. Had his big chance at World Cup when Roy gave him the call over Ashley to be the main guy and for me he was **** poor. Had his big chance at World Cup when Roy gave him the call over Ashley to be the main guy and for me he was **** poor. Just didn't step up to the level required on the biggest stage. Think Baines was overexposed on the left wing because he had no protection whatsoever from the Gerrard and anyone who was playing left wing. Of course he was bad against Italy, he had Candreva and Darmian running at him with Gerrard and Welbeck/Rooney no where to be seen and don't think any other left back would handle that. Baines is still your best left back and he brings the set piece factor that the other candidates can't.

GG17
Baines is still your best left back Best left back in the league last year Ryan Bertrand says hi! Luke Shaw is probably better than both though if completely fit and on fire.
Razzler
I'd have Shaw. He was finally showing for his club and looking the business. Bliss Seeker
Shaw's by far our best left back, Baines of 2/3 years ago would have been pushing him, but he's looked out of his depth at International level everytime he's played. Certainly made me appreciate the Cole even more. There's a reason why the best players at certain clubs don't get picked up by the big boys. Set pieces a side, I'd have Shaw (this season's version easily) ahead of Baines without a second thought.
