How do you think your team will line up for the first game?

GK: Hart

RB: Johnson

CB: Cahill

CB: Jagielka

LB: Baines

MC: Gerrard

MC: Wilshere

AMR: Lallana

AMC: Rooney

AML: Welbeck

STC: Sturridge

That's my guess for England.

Yes and no. All three are capable of defending. None of them is a defending specialist but none of them is a clear AM either. According to some reports Kovač has those three in the middle as his first option but he could use Vukojević or someone like him against Brazil. He is an attacking coach so I went for that team thinking he'll go for it.

United fan here, but no way is Januzaj going to start. Probably Mirallas or Mertens will.

Wilmots is crazy about Januzaj though, besides Mirallas is still injured and Mertens is more effective coming from the left or the middle.

Lallana has had a better season than Sterling though?

Wilshere has had a shocking season tbf, just hoping he can find some form for the WC.

Neuer

Lahm

Mertesacker

Boateng

Schmelzer

Khedira

Schweinsteiger

Müller

Özil

Reus

Klose/Götze

Difficult to predict as no one knows if Khedira and Klose will be fit enough to play a WC. Neuer, Lahm and Schweinsteiger still have minor injuries.

If Khedira isn't fit enough Lahm will take his Position and Großkreutz will play right back.

Strinić is injured. Missing out on WC. I guess it's Pranjić then on LB.

Can see us being cautious in the first game, hence no place for Sterling and Lallana. Which is wrong. I want both of them to start.

Hate that Lampard is there :(

Klose played the last few games with Lazio without any problems.

And has he done anything good during these matches? I remain sceptical regarding Klose as I can't see him lasting 90 minutes in Brazil. He should stay on the bench.

Lahm

Mertesacker

Hummels

Schmelzer

Schweinsteiger

Kroos

Müller/Götze

Özil/Götze/Müller

Reus/Schürrle

Klose/Volland

Klose should definately play against Ghana, USA and Portugal at least. He´s still a decisive header and all those 3 teams are prone to conceding from the air.

Come the 2nd round there will be new balls of course.

Surely Henderson ahead of Lampard?

Surely Henderson ahead of Lampard?

Roy's picked Lampard in 3 of the last 4 qualifiers (on as a substitute in the 4th) Can't even see Henderson on the bench for those games. He obviously rates him quite highly still.

I think Roy will stick with what he knows, he doesn't strike me as the type to throw in Henderson when he's not used him in any competitive games in the past 12 months.

Unless Januzaj makes a crushing impression in the next 3 friendlies I don't think he will start either. I reckon Mirallas will be fit again when the tournament starts so it will be either him, De Bruyne (Fellaini on the mdfield) or Mertens.

I think Wilmots recognizes a lot of his 2001-2002 season in Fellaini's current situation. I'm guessing Fellaini's gonna start instead of Dembele or with De Bruyne on the right-wing and Witsel-Dembele-Fellaini on the midfield.

Has he really though?

If Welbeck starts ahead of Lallana you should be appalled.

Would rather see Lallana in there over Welbeck, but I just think that is the way Roy will go.

Wilmots already confirmed De Bruyne will be in the middle since he plays there for Wolfsburg full time. Its also one of the reasons why Simons or Nainggolan didnt make the squad actually

Doesn't Leckie play wing IRL? He started there in last nights game but only caught the first half. Good of course is out now.

Halloran possibly more suited to impact sub. Also think Troisi will play CAM and Wilkshire was very good last night so maybe him too:

For Belgium it's pretty predictable. I think 10 names are certain barring injury. Only doubt in my mind is Mirallas or Mertens (or possibly Januzaj)

Courtois

Alderweireld

Kompany

Vermaelen

Vertonghen

Witsel

Fellaini

De Bruyne

Hazard

Lukaku

Mirallas

We'll get some idea from these England friendlies obvioulsy but I think the main 13 or 14 is clear

I expect Sterling to start against Peru and it'll be interesting if Lallana starts or Welbeck

I am either/or really as I think we may tweak between group games, no idea how much Manaus will take out of the players. Where did Italy play in the Confeds Cup? Wasn't Manaus, right but they had problems with the heat?

Whatever we do I just hope we're on the front foot a bit more, play with confidence and Hodgson isn't afraid to make a change with enough time left in a match that the incoming player (Lallana, Barkley et al) can make a difference

Produce some bloody natrual full backs Belgium!! All they lack :(

And some central midfielders. De Bruyne aside, they're all similar (ish) and probably not good enough to compete for international tournaments.

not really. Witsel, de Bruyne are class and a healthy Dembele is a great player as well. In the next few years Malanda, Tielemans will replace mediocre players like Defour & Fellaini so there is no probem there.

Fullbacks are a problem but Wilmots doesnt like to play attacking fullbacks, he really doesnt mind using centrebacks. Against smaller nations though you can see that a player like Vanden Borre brings more to the table than Alderweireld. at leftback Vertonghen is more than adequate. he used to be an attacking midfielder mind.
