SpartanUTD
Problem(s): i. I'm not just having a bad day, it looks like after the first 8-10 games, no matter what League/Level, I might get a point or two every 6-7 games ii. Although I stick to the same formation (4-1-2-2-1) I do make changes in mentality, how fluid the tactic is and shouts, depending on the opponent, weather etc but it is hard to improve if team starts going down hill & morale is low iii. It seems like from one match day to the other, my team is getting worse and worse. They defend badly, they can't score and my job is always at stake :o iv. I am good in finding talented players, using them and developping them. I did it in 2 teams but only a season after I got sacked, they were in the bestest 5 (Greek Superleague) but I haven't managed to stay in any team for more than 2 years and see these youngsters thrive under my commands Shape/formation: 4-1-2-2-1 attacking/fluid or 4-1-2-2-1 balanced/standard. Occasionally I'll play 4-3-3 overload/very fluid or 4-2-3-1 very rigid/defensive but I would like to focus on 4-1-2-2-1. 4-1-2-2-1 attacking/fluid>> DEFENCE: FBs (auto)-DC (stopper)-DC (LD) MIDFIELD: ANC-BWM (MCL/support)-MC (MCR/attack)-2 Wingers (IF/attack) ATTACK: TM (support) Passing style: PS more direct-CF more expressive-CD press more-T default-M zonal-C drill-R default Specific instructions: DL 60% of bar-W 65% of bar-T 85% of bar-TW 25% of bar 4-1-2-2-1 balanced/standard>> DEFENCE: FBs (support)-DC (stopper)-DC (LD) MIDFIELD: ANC-DL PM (MCL/support)-MC (MCR/attack)-2 Wingers (support) ATTACK: Poacher Passing style: PS default-CF default-CD press more-T default-M zonal-C drill-R default Specific instructions: DL 50% of bar-W 60% of bar-T 50% of bar-TW 50% of bar No matter what tactic I'm using, or which league I'm playing to, the above issues are constantly present. The team and level you are playing: At present I am the manager of Leixoes/ Portuguese Premier League I had the same problems before, in the Greek Superleague (Aris Salonica, OFI, Panthrakikos, Panaitolikos, Levadeiakos) and Serbian Superleague (Spartak ZV). Expectations: Stay clear of relegation. Screenshots, Pkm's and Saved Games: Although I made screenshots of my tactics, I didn't manage to upload them for some reasons. If I play 4-1-2-2-1 attacking/fluid, I'd give shouts like "pass into space, look for overlap, play narrow, hassle opponents, stay on feet". If I play 4-1-2-2-1 balanced/standard, Id rather say "pass to feet/retain possession, work ball into box, play narrow, stay on feet". I hope I put enough detail, unfortunately I wasn't able to upload screenshots.
llama3
It is hard to track some of your instructions - sometimes you put just the duty, sometimes just the role. What is obvious is the lack if width (FBauto) does not provide width, and the IF(A) coming inside does not either. A lone Target Man becomes too isolated. Another bad idea. It also looks like you have too many specialist roles. We also need to know what specific problems you are having - goalscoring, possession, goals conceded (and how), tackling, discipline - more information, and presented in a way I can understand please. SpartanUTD
Let's focus on 4-1-2-2-1 attacking/fluid and I'll work things out for the other tactics on my own time. I have re-written the tactics description, I hope that helps. Problem(s): 1. No matter what League/level/team I'm playing, my team is starting well or medium and after a few games, it ends in absolute disaster! Morale goes low and then, they start defending badly, they can't score and my job is always at stake. 2. I'm not just having a bad day, it looks like after the first 8-10 games, no matter what League/Level, I might get a point or two every 6-7 games. 3. No matter what tactical changes I make to adjust the conditions of each game, if team starts going down hill & morale is low I cannot turn things around. Shape/formation: 4-1-2-2-1 attacking/fluid DEFENCE: FBs (auto)-Stopper (defend)-Limited Defender (defend) MIDFIELD: ANC (defend)-BWM (support)- MC (attack)- 2 IFs (attack) ATTACK: TM (support) Passing style: Passing style>more direct - Creative Freedom>more expressive Closing Down>press more - Tackling>default Marking>zonal - Crossing>drill - Roaming>default Specific instructions: DL 60% of bar-W 65% of bar-T 85% of bar-TW 25% of bar The team and level you are playing: At present I am the manager of Leixoes/Stay clear of relegation (Portuguese Premier League). I had the same problems before, in the Greek Superleague (Aris Salonica/European qualification, OFI/respectable league position, Panthrakikos/respectable league position, Panaitolikos/respectable league position, Levadeiakos/respectable league position) and Serbian Superleague (Spartak ZV/respectable league position). llama3
Small details - you play with inside forwards, which means you need your full backs to overlap and provide width - they are not at the moment. An anchorman does not suit a team playing a heavy pressing game. You have written "Stopper (defend)" - it is either a Stopper OR a Defend duty - which is it? What role? A lone TM can get very isolated. He seems to have decent support in midfield. A fluid system has an inherent amount of freedom - perhaps they need less? It also sounds like man management and media work may play a part in your problems. Can you tell us any more about your approach?
SpartanUTD
"You have written "Stopper (defend)" - it is either a Stopper OR a Defend duty - which is it?" - Sorry, I meant Defender Center (Stopper) and Limited Defenfer (defend). "A lone TM can get very isolated." - I'm using a TM because I thought he'd be better off than having a quick but small bodied poacher on his own. If I could afford it, I'd get a tall Advanced Forward, but players with loads of good attributes are out off my reach at the moment. What role would you suggest for a lonely striker? "It also sounds like man management and media work may play a part in your problems. Can you tell us any more about your approach?" - Up to my management with Levadeiakos, I was very high tempered. I was telling players off and putting fines, usually with no warning, just 2 weeks off their wages! With Spartak ZV and Leixoes, I'm trying a more sensible approach, telling them off less (from Talk to Player/Match Performance) and trying to avoid fines as much as possible. Another question: - If you were lookig to sign a coach for attacking training, would you go for one with Attacking coaching 19-20/20 but no Continental A/B license, or someone with a Continental A/B license but Attack coaching lower than 15 or 16/20? RonnySanchez
About the Target Man: it is probably better to use a strong player when playing a lone striker but in addition of being strong he needs to be also technically good and quite creative, he needs to be able to do more then being a areal target. You maybe have this kind of player, i don't know. The second thing is to give this player the instructions to do this double role of both linking play and finishing. A target man is very static, he stands centrally upfront and waits for the balls to be played to him. He could play this dual role of both linking play and finishing but only if has a striker partner near him. So what you need is a player capable of playing either, Complete forward, Deep lying forward or trequartista, a false nine could also function but then you need to think little bit different about who is going to be your primary goal treat because a false nine would not be that. About the coaches: Apart from attribute Attacking the coach for attacking training needs to have good attribute in tactics, determination, motivation and discipline + man management. If a coach does not have continental license is probably better because then they have opportunity to develop further. A coach with the highest license has very little improvement potential. I play teams who usually can't afford players with good features for Deep Lying Forward or Advanced Forward, eitherwise a tall Advanced Forward would be my choice. My idea is to have the big boy in the center of attack to open pathways to the 2 IFs. In a team where I had good IFs, the tactic worked pretty well. - I had never realised that coaches can increase their attributes, thanks for letting me know. I always pick younger ones with no continental license who cost so much cheaper too.
bababooey
If you find that everything your doing isn't helping / working then I would suggest starting over. Are you on the full mode or FMC? If you're on the full mode then I don't expect you to do this but, if you are on FMC then follow my advice: Blow it up. Throw out the tactics and your ideas and start over. On FMC this is incredibly useful/helpful/easy/simple. There is no tactic familiarity BS to bother with. Just a new clean slate. Write down how you want to play. Get a pen and pad and literally write down what you want to see on the pitch. Attack, transitions, defence, etc. When you've got that written down, make your new tactics and think like a real manager would. The game is no longer about sliders and tweaking different settings just right, it is about football logic and making good decisions. Nothing will "always" work and there are no super tactics as you know, so game-to-game tweaks are important but you can keep your main approach of course. If you're playing the full game I would just start a new save and use the above advice.

I don't like starting all over again, I like being a journeyman until I settle with a team after loads of different experiences.
