The Wales road to Euro 2016 thread - featuring the best British midfielder (and Gareth Bale)

Recommended Posts

Only just realised we'll be fourth seed in the euros group draw

Thought if we hang on to win the qualifying group we might get a decent group but doesn't work like that unfortunately.

Yeah, they base it all in where you were in the rankings at the draw for the qualifiers i think?

Think it'll be difficult for us to get out of the groups if we get a tough draw, mainly because its hard to see us maintaining that form in tournament football.

Our first choice XI is good enough, but we also have a few players in that squad I worry about when they play and in tournament football its likely they will have to play.

Either we'll lose a must win game in the groups from including players who arent good enough, or we lose because the players picked are tired from too many games in a short time.

Think the finals draw will be based on uefa coefficient at the time of the draw, we have a miniscule chance of being in pot 3 but really it's going to be pot 4*

*do we still have to put 'if we qualify' at the end of every post?

Vaughan back in the squad, Chester trained

Changes?

I think I'd bring them both in, possibly for Ben Davies and whoever is more knackered out of Edwards and King

We actually need two Centre Backs because Ashley Williams isn't good enough either.

He's passable, but he's too prone to mistakes & we need somebody reliable.

Somebody to play alongside him would be fine, but ideally, we get two players there.

State of this post from last year!

Pitch invasion followed by a ban from Euros.

What's the possibility of that happening? :D

Hope Wales make it. It's great to have the home nations in a tournament together. It's all good fun

More worried about the possibility of a pitch invasion than winning the game. Doesn't take much for lots of our fans to act like complete pricks after a day on the beer

I will personally hunt down a kill any and every fan that encroaches onto the playing surface tonight if it costs us a place in France 2016.*

*may not actually do this!

**** YOU, BLISS, **** YOU. :mad::D

Looking forward to the game today, and I'll be cheering the Welsh on, despite our own...uhm...lapse in results.

Turns out we didn't really have Georgia on our mind, and we threw three points away to the 5th worst team in Europe. :o

Still, I'm confident we'll beat Germany.

I think the authorities take into account hi-jinx and excitement. You'd have to invade the pitch and threaten players/destroy stuff to get repercussions. I saw FA warned fans against invasions anyway, which is sensible

Well, that was a bit of an Anti Climax.

More evidence today of why this side sorely needs a top class striker. Robson-Kanu, Church & Vokes are all ok to be there when we need them, but a top class striker would really give us the cutting edge up front that we need.

While the boys that played in midfield played well, we also really missed Ledley & Allen too. There were times when Ramsey was too far back, which would be less likely to happen with those two in the side.

Wanted Ramsey to drive at their defence more, and Bale.

Vokes should have been on a whole 25 minutes earlier. Such a useful decoy to take men away from Rambo/Bale etc. Putting Church on earlier was bizarre.

Cyprus dominating apparently, keep that up and we'll qualify tonight!

You know what else it would do? It would split the defence's attention away from Bale. A good, good striker, even somebody like Hartson, who was not at the level of Rush or Hughes, would help create a really potent attacking threat.

Watching highlights on S4C and feeling far better. Need to be more clinical etc but we played some really nice stuff.

By the way please everybody watch Malcolm Allen's commentary on the S4C highlights after Bale's goal in Cyprus. Best thing ever. Should be available online :)

Vokes should start ahead of HRK for me.

Missed Allen in midfield to feed the ball into Ramsey in an advanced position.

First thing I do in the stadium is look at the linesman to see if any goal is offside but obviously watching on the tele I went ****ing mad when church netted then had the heartache :(

Big shame to see Belgium do it but I think we'll get the job done in Bosnia. Haven't looked at the table below second but pretty sure they'll need to win whichll suit us on the break.

Still a very happy Welshman right here.

We started like an absolute train, had more corners in the first 15 minutes than we've had in some entire campaigns!

Was sure the goal was coming then but I guess credit to Israel for drawing the sting out of us, do want to see the penalty shouts on tv when I get home mind

Good prep for next summer anyway to have teams parking the bus in front of us

Would be very cool to clinch it in Bosnia for the 750 who get tickets, because they will really be the ones who have put in the hard yards over the years

If I may get the thread back on track, 8th in the rankings

Will be no help whatsoever in the finals draw where we'll be in pot 4

Going to be tough whoever we get but can't wait to find out

Strong squad announced, Joe Allen back, hopefully Bale comes through the derby ok on Sunday

I'll be a little surprised if we don't get it done in Bosnia tbh

Nearly there boys, nearly there :)

What's wrong with me?

Not nervous and not even that excited by the upcoming week. I've got it in my head we're there and initial plans have been made for France so I'm quite blasé about next week.

Feel like it's a case of turning up in town for a night on the **** on Saturday to celebrate the official crowning of our place there. And if that doesn't happen then just get

Pissed celebrating that we merely need a point v Andorra :D

Can't understand what's wrong. If by some crazy mishap we did **** up then im not sure how I'd recover

know what you mean, always assumed if we ever qualified there would be some last minute/playoff/penalty drama involved and i'd feel sick for weeks before and after

whilst that might still happen we do seem to be coasting in, that's taken the edge off it maybe

watch us lose in bosnia and be 0-0 at ht v andorra, i'm sure then the sick feeling would return

What time is kick off on Saturday?

7:45 isn't it?

Pretty much, an hours turn around between the Rugby and the Soccer if I remember correctly?
