Anthony Knockaert is a French footballer who currently plays for Leicester City Football Club in the Championship, either as an attacking midfielder or a winger. Having started his career with Ev Avant de Guingamp and helping them gain promotion from the French Championnat National to Ligue 2 in 2010-11, the Frenchman moved to the Foxes in 2012 and settled quickly, impressing many and winning the Leicester City Young Player of the Year award for 2012-13, his debut season with the club. He also won the Leicester City Goal of the Year Award for this beauty (the second one in the video, although the first was spectacular too), which was shortlisted for the European Goal of the Year for 2013:

Here is how Knockaert looks at the beginning of the game:

With fantastic technical, mental and physical attributes, Knockaert is a very capable of player. A good dead ball specialist and capable of producing moments of brilliance make him a real wild card and someone who can be a real thorn in the side of any opposition. His high flair, agility, creativity, technique and dribbling make him a very flamboyant player. As you can see, Knockaert is a natural AMC capable of playing a number of roles, perhaps best suited to the Shadow Striker role. But being Left Only footed, he would also make for a very good AMR, playing as an Inside Forward or even an Advanced Playmaker. A young player with a lot of potential, he is dubbed by the media as 'the next Michel Platini'. He also carries the PPMs 'Avoids Using Weaker Foot', 'Cuts Inside' and 'Runs With Ball Often', further asserting his ability to play out wide with ease.

In the summer of 2014 I signed Knockaert for £6.5M. Leicester accepted the first bid I made, so perhaps he is available for less than that; indeed, it is likely to be dependent upon his first season in the Championship. Having already spent a season in England, it isn't likely to be hard to sign Knockaert if you play in a higher division than the Championship. His first season under AI management was average at best. However his statistics and the scout reports I was receiving made him a tantalizing prospect, so I felt the need to sign him immediately.

Now some way into the season, you can see that Knockaert is having a very good season for me thus far, managing to bag himself 10 goals and 2 assists in 12 games, a very healthy return of 1 direct contribution per game. He hasn't developed a great deal, but he does still have the potential to develop further and become a better player. I play him on AMR as an Inside Forward/Attack, instructed to Sit Narrow, Dribble More, Shoot Less and he is definitely producing the goods as he is currently the top goalscorer in the Premier League and of course my top goalscorer too. Here is how he looks at the same stage in my game.

To conclude, why sign Anthony Knockaert? In Knockaert you have a future French international, capable of playing a vast array of roles all to great ability. Such versatility for such little cost is always worth the outlay. His creative nous means he is always a very potent threat, regardless of where you desire he plays. He is a classy act and one capable of producing moments of magic for any team in the world, something not often found lurking in the depths of the Championship. If ever you're stuck for ideas to play in the final third, give Knockaert a try, you won't regret it :brock: Thanks for reading.

He is dubbed the new Platini in my game. This is with two seasons of AI development:

Surprised a bigger club hasn't snapped him up to be honest, especially given Leicester are still a Championship club.

He doesn't seem to have developed much there tbh, but that's not really an issue because you can see that he is still quality and capable of playing for bigger sides. Indeed, it is interesting that he's still at Leicester after two seasons still in the Championship.

he was brilliant for me as a AMR inside forward. Scored over 25 goals and was the main reason I got promoted with Leicester

still at Leicester in my season 5 save (it's season 17/18 - can't remember what number it is), and he's a damn pain (scoring 2 goals against me to beat me 2-1 where i dominated the game)

Good to know (in a roundabout sort of way :D)

He's continuing his great season for me, although teams are now starting to target him with strong tackles and he's picking up a few knocks here and there, meaning he's not playing every game (I don't want to play him at <90% conditioning because it'll risk him getting a serious injury).

He's gone off the boil a little in terms of his goalscoring feats but that's because teams are trying to mark him out of the game. He's still contributing well though. He's the 7th highest rated player in the League in terms of Avg. Rating, so that's cool. Still averaging a direct contribution per start. Here's how he is at the beginning of January 2015 (just recovered from injury so missed the last 3/4 games):

The only negative thing I can possibly say about him is that his low Decisions causes him to often go for the shot when there's perhaps a decent crossing or passing opportunity. But otherwise, he's superb.

If his Decisions were higher at the start of the game, I would happily start a bidding war to land Knockaert. Anything is better than that inconsistent and incredibly frustrating Nani.

As long as he's not your penalty taker you should be fine....

But yes, as much as it pains me to say it, he is a very good player.

Ohhh where's the video gone?? Haha!

Leicester fan here. He looks good in my save too but I have turned down trying to sign him on a few occasions now which may shock a few of you. He joined Wolves who had got promoted in consecutive seasons for £2.1m in the summer of 2015 before joining Wigan a year later for £4m. Last season (2016/17) he made 34 appearances, scored twice, made 9 assists at an average of 6.85.

Certainly looks a good signing for any club outside the big 6 or so clubs in the Premier League.

I've finished top 3 in both seasons I've completed, one of which was with Knockaert. I really think he's good enough for even the top sides.

Finished last season with about 32 appearances, 11 goals and 7 assists, an Avg. Rating of 7.23. So far this season he has 6 goals and 5 assists in 12 games and an Avg. Rating of around 7.44.

Does he get called up for France?

Starting with Villa tonight and need an AMC for my preferred 4-2-3-1. Knockaert will be my main target!

He should do eventually because he is absolutely phenomenal. Not yet been called up on mine, no idea why not!

Must have lowish PA not to have been called up then.

Knockaert is rather one-footed (Left only) so his PA probably isn't very high in any case, still a quality player though.

I have contemplated training him to become both footed but he also has the PPM "Avoids use of Weaker Foot" so it'd take an age to teach him to use both feet. Besides, he's fantastic as he is, not sure making him both footed would change a great deal about his play seeing as the whole use of him (for me, anyway) is getting him in on his left foot and shooting. When he's doing that I don't need to change anything :D

He won the 2015/16 English Footballer of the Year Award :)

What's he like as a striker in the game for anyone who has played him there? I see he can play in the False 9 role which is ideal for me. Leicester just been relegated and his asking price was £2.5m so I snapped him up sharpish.

Capped at last!

26 isn't old, but it feels like it's taken far too long for him to get what he deserves imo :( Took him a Champions League win before he was even considered for the National team, which is a bit annoying. Still, great season last season (his best under me) and he's finally gotten that elusive cap :)

He's been class for me at Napoli, first season he didn't do a lot, second season he was very good.

No cap for him yet for me either!

Bit of a bump here but it's because this fella is just fantastic.

Second in the league for goals scored last season (our top scorer) and also won Player of the Year for the second time (won it three years prior). Only been capped twice but whoever the France manager is is obviously just a bit of a dick :D

:D I sold him in the end to Marseille, and even though I'd been winning Serie A, as soon as he went to Marseille, he started getting capped for France! I'm in 2024 and haven't checked him for a while, but I'll have a look how many caps he's got later, I know he got quite a few.
