The Final Day

Cambridge

We did what we needed to do. Now it is time for Blackburn to do us a favour, hopefully.

Get in! I actually punched the air when I saw that final day result.

You've had so long to wait and now you have the silverware you deserve. Bring on the Treble!

Almost 40 years of waiting and when you finally get to win a major trophy, you take three at once. Unbelievable.

Bet you **** your pants in the FA Cup final though. :D

Well done and a fitting way to get some reward for sticking with a save for so long. Is this the time to walk away with an all-time high or will you try and do it all again next season?

Congrats mate :)

YES!!! Well done Sir!

Thank you, wasn't a bad end to the season.

Almost 40 years of waiting and when you finally get to win a major trophy, you take three at once. Unbelievable.

Bet you **** your pants in the FA Cup final though. :D

All I kept thinking was we wouldn't win the FA Cup, the one I wanted most. Been worth the wait that's for sure.

Kris, the best FM career I've ever seen - really.

Congratulations my man, to persevere for what - 38 game years?! - unbelievable.

Kind words, thank you.

It has been an effort and a half but worthwhile.

Wow, congratulations mate! So pleased for you. I'd be so tempted to retire.

If I could decide on a new save to start I probably would retire.

Epic end to the season on all 3 fronts!

All in a days work. Expected to lose out on all fronts as that about sums up my luck.

Well done and a fitting way to get some reward for sticking with a save for so long. Is this the time to walk away with an all-time high or will you try and do it all again next season?

Congrats mate :)

If I am honest we won the league because the rest were poor, clinching it with 79 points is ridiculous. I can't see us retaining the PL so maybe now is the best time to leave. But then what will I do?

Just caught up with this. Congrats on the treble win Kris :D I would have still been on the terraces at the age of 62 for it.

Thank you muchly.

Sorry mate but you wouldn't be on the terraces. The club gave you a life time ban for arranging a plane banner to fly by saying 'Scott Out' when we were relegated from the Championship in 2031.

Breaking News

So after the great season last season i do think it would be the perfect time to retire and let it be.

But i can't. I've had a solid three hours tonight of gaming and i have spent it loading up different saves, contemplating ending the Cambridge one, having Jim Woodward come in to replace the retired me or as i mentioned before Woodward coming in at Skrill Premier side Sunderland in a bid to take them to the top.

I look around the forum and see plenty of new careers featuring the English Lower Levels so my desire to do one at my favourite side Rushden and Diamonds is very much at the forefront of my mind along with a Journey Man save starting at German Third Division side Holstein Kiel.

I have done so much more than i could have imagined with Cambridge, taking a Non League side to the Premier League is something i have never managed on FM before so once that was achieved i already felt like i had done enough.

So for the foreseeable future this save is going to be my 'Secondary Save' and i will play sporadically. I will keep the updates coming as and when but until i can be sure what direction i want it to go i don't want to continue then decide i've chosen the wrong option.

Thank you to all who have followed what is my best career so far.

Thank you very much. I am sure there is plenty left to come at Cambridge, i need to play a few more seasons to try and get a stadium named after me!

Surprised to see an update in this thread, Holland not doing it for you?

Can't even believe a new owner would contemplate getting rid of you! That would be a way of getting the fans on board...

Holland is very much up and running still. I said i would probably dip into this save now and then and after watching Cambridge on the TV yesterday win promotion i had to pop back. Not that i wish i had, two league games - two defeats!

I had totally forgot about the takeover but luckily it was sorted quick enough to do my summer business.

A belated congratulations on your treble Kris! :) I read this thread all in one sitting a week or so ago and was so impressed! It inspired me to start my first update thread, in the non-league with Aylesbury United, though I doubt we'll ever reach the same heights as your Cambridge!

Hope you do continue to update this now and then, at least one more season at the helm to try and retain it?

Otherwise, Woodward at Sunderland would be brilliant!

I was going to follow your Aylesbury thread until you lost to Kettering! I am not having that. :herman: You better do them over later in the season.

It has taken me long enough to get to the top so if you stick with it i sure you can get there too. I will update this as and when, have pre season, August and September to do. I'm 69 on the game now so i cant see myself going on for too much longer, bringing Woodward in somewhere is an idea, also the possibility of doing something with Gareth Rowe if he retires totally. A two manager save featuring Rowe and Woodward?

Transfers

zzTzxZ6.png

Not the busiest of summers but the two deals were needed and i think both will become key players.

Leaving the club see's six out of contract players. Five were back up players and amassed just 7 PL appearances, six of which were from Starheim. The other player leaving was Gerry Kenny. After 9 years with the club it was hard to let him go but a moving to a more narrow formation leaves him not needed. One player was sold, Sebastian. As said i am moving more narrow, trying to link the midfield to the attack a bit better and making use of my good full backs. As an AMR i took the chance to get £10m for him despite his great season last year, 16 goals in 40 games at an average of 7.26.

Coming in sees the club break it's transfer record for young Englishman Joe O'Brien. After playing 25 games for Man City last season i had to pay more than i wanted but young and home grown was an important factor. Also in is centre back Jose Maria. Played 15 times for Real Madrid last year i had to pay his release fee and beat off Inter and Manchester United to get him. Has settled in well and has fellow Spaniards Javi and Rodriguez to help him along.

Results

YwuXdJZ.png

Good pre season but doesn't really tell a lot. Had a huge amount of chances, 37 vs Ideal, 32 vs Soham, 55 vs Lettese and 28 vs Dallas, pres season or not that was pleasing.

Not the start of Champions. Away to Man City was always going to be tough and thats how it proved. Sheff United away was a great game for the neutrals. 3-0 down after just 30 minutes we pulled level with three goals in three minutes only for United to score right on the break. That followed Sheff Utd 6-1 opening day win. We finally won some points by destroying Sheff Wed at home, a first home game since winning the treble.
