Season 2015/16

So after a double winning season I felt like it was time to break up some of the side and bring in some fresh blood. I had mentioned before that Cazorla, Giroud, Arteta and Nacho were off. I also mentioned that I was after 3 players. I got two of those and actually ended up finding better. I ended up spending more money than I imagined, but some of these signings will really improve us over the next 5/6 years.

Transfers In

Luis Suarez - Liverpool - £22m

Ben Davies - Swansea - £3m

Simon Meye (regen) - Standard Liege - £3.2m

Pedro - Barcelona - loan to buy

Gino Peruzzi - Catania - £11m

Ross Barkley - Everton - £13m

Two other regens - £5m combined

Transfers Out

Olivier Giroud - Monaco - £31m

Santi Cazorla - PSG - £30m

Mikel Arteta - Lyon - £2.1m

Joel Campbell - Porto - free

Nacho Monreal - Athletic Bilbao - £16.25m

Carl Jenkinson - Swansea - Loan

Great business for us over the summer. Suarez arrives on the cheap due to being in the last year of his contract. Davies and Peruzzi give us much needed depth at full back, Pedro signs on a risk free loan to tide us over until the summer. I can buy him then if he impresses. I have no idea how I managed to get Barkley for that price, but I'm delighted I did.

The transfer window leaves my side in this shape

GK - Szczesny, Valdes

RB - Sagna, Peruzzi

CB - Mertesacker, Caulker, Koscielny, Balanta

LB - Gibbs, Davies

RW/LW - Walcott, Chamberlain, Pedro, Gnabry

CM - Verratti, Wilshere, Ramsey, Zelalem

AMC - Ozil, Barkley

CF - Aguero, Suarez, Akpom

When everyone is fit I can see the following being my first choice eleven

GK - D - Szczesny

FB - S - Sagna

CD - D - Mertesacker

CD - C - Koscielny

FB - A - Gibbs

BBM - S - Wilshere

DLP - D - Ramsey

W - A - Walcott

T - A - Ozil

IF - S - Suarez

AF - A - Aguero

August

Community Shield - Arsenal 2-2 Manchester United (3-4 on pens) Wilshere 29 Suarez 82 Fellaini 3 Rooney 11

PL - Arsenal 4-0 Derby Ozil pen 6 Mertesacker 37 Suarez 48 Walcott 50

PL - Newcastle 1-1 Arsenal Emanuelson 52 Barkley 68

PL- Arsenal 5-1 Norwich Kosicleny 16 Aguero 21 Mertesacker 28 Ozil 54 Pedro 84 Van Wolfswinkel 2

Madrid just offered 1m + 6m/48months for Szcz who had 32 clean sheets in 2013/14 season I told them to go away

(this is the polite version)

Erm, that is insulting! I never have any need to buy a new goalkeeper as long as he is playing, he is outstanding.

The regen I was telling you about previously got stolen from under Madrids noses, felt very good!

FM14 ARSENAL SEASON 1 REVIEW

The season has been a very good one. We started OK were brilliant in the middle and tired towards the end but were able to win the Champions League

The biggest disappointment obviously being the Fa Cup semi-final defeat to Stoke.

Story of the season

PRE SEASON

Before starting my biggest aim was to win the league. I knew I would have to bring in some new faces. In came signing of the season Vietto, Darder, Balanta and Zieler. I would have liked a more stellar name to add but it wasn’t to be.

On the pitch Pre season was a disaster from a defensive point of view. We conceded far too many goals and didn’t really gel.

Not a good sign for the League

SQUAD

{{}} Flamini left in January. ** Toni came in on loan.

Szszesny Zieler Gibbs Monreal Sagna Jenkinson Vermaelen Mertersacker Balanta Kocielny Podolski Chamberlain Rosicky Cazorla Wilshere Ramsey Darder Arteta {{Flamini}} Ozil Giroud Walcott Vietto **Toni**

PREMIER LEAGUE

The campaign started at Everton. Theo Walcott hit a hattrick. We were nervous In the opening few games and drew 3 of the first 7. After that we went on a nice run winning 7 in a row before being unable to breakdown Fulham. But, after that it took Three months before we would draw again. This time at White Hart Lane. They first and only defeat came at home to United. We were very flat. After that we had a couple of disappointing draws but secured the title with three games to spare.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Ah the Champions League. We played PSV in the play off game and it was the first time we kept a clean sheet. We also did in the home tie. The group stages were kind. Although we failed to beat Zenit in either game we still went through as top of the group. In the knockout stages we faced Napoli and won 4-3 on aggregate after a 2-1 win Naples. Next up were Barcelona and Real Madrid. Both ties were ruined by Red Cards for their players. It was upsetting to lose both second legs though. It set up a final vs Bayern This time there were no sending’s off just great play. 5 of our players were named in the European team of the year.

REINFORMENTS

I plan to buy two major players. Insigne and Lars Bender are my two targets. There’s an outside chance I could go for Valdes but when we had our first meeting his prices were way too high.

Selling wise Podolski has done just enough to stay but Arteta will go. Sagna has accepted a new contract so he will stay. I haven’t made my mind up about Monreal but he will probably go.

Wilshere will become captain if Vermaelen leaves.

I’m off to for my summer break in Brazil to enjoy the world cup. (otherwise known as Fifa14) Be back around 22nd with new season update.

Can I ask a favour please lads, if I ask in the WM thread I'll get about as much response as the Archbishop of Canterbury's todger in a lap dancing club.

I have changed my 2 wide players from W/a and IF/a to AP/a and now Walcott and Ox are running riot as one minute they're on the wing and the next minute they're in the box slamming in goals.

So my favour gentlemen is if you are playing preseason friendlies or are 8-0 up at half time, would you please change your 2 wide men to AP/a and let me know how they did.

TIA

Link to post

Well Cleon set his WM with his left sided wide player as a Wide Target Man who in my case would be Ox and his right sided wide player as a Defensive Winger. In my save neither Theo or Alex seemed to like those roles so I changed the Ox to W/a and Walcott to W/a then changed him to IR/a and even these didn't seem to suit them.

Then I had an idea, why not set them both up as AP/a. Now when we attack through the middle there's Ox and Walcott on the corners of the box waiting for the pass or the chance to run onto a through ball and BANG!....goal.

Also when they get the ball in wide positions they're usually cutting inside by the time they're halfway into the opponents half and either placing through balls for my ST's or playing one two's with the AMC's. So I end up with 5 players around the box with my 2 DMC's standing right behind them making 7 in all.

PL - Everton 1-0 Arsenal Mitroglou 84

So, so frustrating this. We had so many chances but just couldn't find a way through. Everton score thanks to an FM 14 trademark lob.

CL - Arsenal 4-0 Basel Caulker 29, 69 Aguero 54 Suarez 62

PL - Manchester City 1-1 Arsenal Silva 22 Ozil 37

We've not had the best run of fixtures to start with in terms of away games but no win in 3 is not good enough. We had the better chances but a draw was probably a fair result. Aguero and Suarez' inability to score a one on one is going to cost us lots of points.

COC - Arsenal 4-3 aet Blackpool Gnabry 45 Aguero pen 93 Caulker 96 Ramsey 118 Scapuzzi 5, 120 Oliech 43

Terrible performance this. Had to rely on substitute Aguero's last second penalty to stop us going out. We need to improve massively.

PL - Arsenal 2-0 Blackburn Koscielny 2 Gibbs 31

This is turning into a frustrating month. Aguero and Suarez missed a hatful of chances in a game we should have won by more than 2 goals

CL - Wolfsburg 2-3 Arsenal Cornelius 42 Ostrzolek 81 Suarez 40 Pedro 53 Ozil 58

Finally an away win! Finally Suarez scores a one on one. Such a shame the winner came due to a bug and not a bit of brilliant play

FB's (L): Sandro, Monreal, Gibbs

FB's ®: Sagna, Jenkinson.

Rossoneri - Peruzzi has been immsense for me this season at RB with a CWB role, king of assists and hardly ever puts a foot wrong!

Am I the only one wo thinks Jenkinson is criminally underrated? he's only a 2* PA on my game. Grandted he's unlikely to set the world on fire, but he's better than 2*!

Enjoyment of this game has pretty much disappeared now it's dawned on me that attributes barely matter. Only so many times you can see Aguero and Suarez miss one on ones before you question the point of this game. Only so many times you can see players with high work rate jog around the pitch, or players with high technical skill mis-controlling simple passes.

Can anyone help?!

I can't get Arsenal playing at all well in FM14

Tactics are:

4-2-3-1

GK Sheza

DR Sagna FB Auto

DL Gibbs FB Auto

DC Kosc and Mert CB D

MC Arteta DLP D

MC Ramsey DLP S

AMR Walcott W A

AMC Ozil AP A

AML Cazorla AP A

CF Giroud TM A

Balanced

Control

Hassle opp

Tighter marking

Play out of defence

Retain poss

Have Bould doing all my training and match prep...always have left all that to the assistant

Just can't get any run going, seem to give the ball away all the time and leak goals for fun! Full backs are a complete joke too!

Any help would be much appreciated, getting so frustrated ?

2015/16

October

PL - Arsenal 3-2 Fulham Verratti 23 Ozil 24 Caulker 47 Parker 39 Bent 85

PL - Watford 2-2 Arsenal Le Fondre 29 Fabbrini 31 Wilshere 16 Aguero 63

Terrible, buggy defending lets me down again. Still yet to record an away win in the League this season.

CL - Celtic 0-4 Arsenal Morrison O.G. 2 Aguero 20,25 Pedro 78

New update

PL - Arsenal 5-2 Crystal Palace Chamberlain 1 Suarez 14,35 Walcott 55 Mertesacker Chamakh 39 Adam Johnson 60

We were actually clinical! Suarez played like an actual striker. Wonderful. The two goals were due to my two CB's closing down the same player, which I'm putting down to the closing down bit on my tactical familiarity being reset. Promising start though.

COC 4th Round- Manchester City 0-3 Arsenal Caulker 2 Pedro 5 Aguero 15

Wow. I always struggle at the Etihad but we were magnificent. We tore them apart for the first 20 mins and then sat back and saw the game out. We made 10 changes to the team that started against Palace (Ramsey the only survivor) which shows our strength in depth

PL - Aston Villa 0-5 Arsenal Gibbs 6 Aguero 9 Chamberlain 22, 45 Mertesacker 63

Our first PL away win of the season and what a win. We started like we did against City, the only difference is that we kept going throughout the match. Villa are lucky it was only 5

Early days but it looks like my issues were bug related rather than tactical. Things are starting to make more sense now.

Personally I would say you have too many playmakers in your team as I've put in bold. Try Trequartista for Ozil and Box to Box or CM-S seemed to work well with Arteta for me.

After a good 8-2 aggregate win over Portuguese side P. Ferreira we were drawn in the group stage with, OM, Juventus and Anderlecht.

In the 3rd round of the Capital One Cup we have been drawn at home to Man Utd......who else.

We are joint top of the Premier League after 3 games and maximum points with Man City and Chelsea.

Has anyone managed to get a tactic to get the most out of Ramsey?

Apart from tmluke 12 who posted that hes scored 23 and assisted 15 in season 3 (before disappearing), has anyone else had any joy?

I've got everything else performing perfectly, and the likes of Walcott, Ozil and whoever I play up front are pretty much unstoppable, but I can't get any goals from B2B even with all the 'get into the area' etc options ticked. Any ideas?

I play him as a DLP (S) and he goes a solid, if not unspectacular, job.
