Hi all, I'm going to be starting this challenge in Spain - tough first league to get out of and when you do get to the top you're facing El Classico so it's going to be difficult to become the best so I'm looking forward to a challenge. I'm going to be doing a Career Update thread which will be more detailed, but of course update here season by season.

So here I start! There were a few bigger clubs that came up, such as Xerez and Castellon, but I've opted for a minnow. Europa were one of the founding teams of La Liga and at one point were considered the 2nd best team in Catalonia. Recent history has been fairly bleak, they enjoyed a spell in the Adelante in the 60s but have one spent one season (94/95) in the 3rd tier since relegation from the Adelante. Precisely 20 seasons ago! We're unsurprisingly expected to finish bottom of the league.

Hey smp20, every team in the lower leagues seems to leak money, in this challenge it means you need to get promoted early, otherwise you end up getting your wage budget repeatedly cut and then end up unable to compete, it is very tough. From having done a bit of research on this, it seems most of the smaller clubs in Spain & Italy (Where I could get data) are losing money every season, though it appears they still spend similar amounts on wages each season. Think this may be more a sign of the strength of coding of owners in FM to attempt to avoid clubs going into administration.

Serie A - 7th (Predicted 12th)

Compared to the last season, this time around play was much more positive and encouraging. Almost 20 points more than previously, and +34 goal difference after it being -9 are testament to that.

Coppa Italia - Final

Serie C club Reggina and Serie A teams Sampdoria, Inter, Juventus and Atalanta had to be beaten before Ragusa got to face Milan in the Coppa Italia Final. The Final was a game between two evenly matched teams, and it seemed neither one really got going at any point. The match ended 1 - 1, and therefore penaltied decided the winner. Thanks to skill and luck Ragusa won. The first victory for us in a proper big boys' competition!

Another major expansion of the stadium is going on. The capacity will reach 36500, which I think is the maximum limit. After the expansion Cataldo Giuffrida Stadium will be the largest stadium in Sicily. :) Training facilities, and this time also youth facilities are being improved. The club is developing constantly off the field, and I hope it will translate itself to success on the pitch as well.

This is getting to be almost a morbid challenge for me. Time to give Scotland a try.

Brora_Rangers_FC_logo.png

Next stop, Brora in northern Scotland. The Cattachs were formed in 1879 but have a pretty limited history of success. Two North Caledonian League championships are all the trophies they have to show.

Current Squad

My central defenders and goalkeeper look good and I have a couple strong midfielders and a decent target man striker. I need to bring in a lot of depth though. Probably 2 more strikers, a midcenter, a wide midfielder and another fullback.

Season 18 (2031/32) - Bundesliga

Can the Champions of Europe become the Champions of Germany....?

With our Champions League triumph fresh in the mind, I felt little need to shake things up in the transfer market, with just one major exit (defender Lucio Nasciomento, £20m to Man Utd) and one major signing over the summer. In comes Italian striker Ignazio Trapani from Inter. He doesn't have much first team football under his belt, but I expect him to become an important player for the club.

Transfers

As you can see, I also splashed out on a second player in the January window, full-back Christian Carreño arriving for a record fee.

League Table - Graph - Fixtures 1 - Fixtures 2

The closest we've come so far to the Bundesliga title. Going into the last game, we were level on points with Bayern but with a much inferior goal difference. It was always a long shot with Bayern facing St. Pauli at home, and so it proved to be as they eased to a 4-0 win, whilst we eventually slipped to a 2-2 draw. We were briefly, for perhaps sixty seconds, top of the table in the first half, but Bayern soon took control of their match. Still, it's a big step in the right direction, and 7 points closer than we were last season.

The cup, although we've still to win it, was not a priority, and we went out in the quarter-final. We did however pick up another German Super Cup.

Champions League

We lost the European Super Cup to Real Madrid, but comfortably won the World Cup Championship, scoring 12 goals in two matches.

Despite now being top seeds, we drew a tough group alongside Barca and Lyon. Defeats away to both those clubs meant we needed to beat Lyon in the final game to progress, and we comfortably managed that with a 5-0 romp.

The knock-out stages were quite frustrating. We'd perform poorly in the first leg at home, leaving ourselves with a lot to do on our away trips. Two brilliant performances at Old Trafford and Santiago Bernabeu saw us to the semi-final, but we exited on away goals to Man City. A shame as the final would have been all-German, with Dortmund beating Schalke in the other semi-final.

Squad Stats - Tactics

Although still using our 3-2-2-2-1 tactic from time to time, this season we settled into a more regulation 4-4-2.

New signing Ignazio Trapani deserves a mention, finishing as top scorer in his first season with the club. Of perhaps bigger news though is the impending departure of Tiago, the man whose goal won us the Champions League. A £42.5m offer from AC Milan was too much to turn down. Also leaving is Carlos, who is joining Bayern for about £18m. He should have a nice time warming their bench.

Youth Candidates

A fairly poor intake, with YP18 Evans Danso the best of the bunch.

Finances

A lot of money.

Apparently winning the Champions League doesn't encourage more people to come watch you.

Next season

The league has to be the focus again if we want to complete the challenge. I expect a bit more transfer activity this summer though, so it could be a tricky start to next season whilst new players settle in.

minisav - SG Sonnenhof-Großaspach - 2014/2015 Season - German 3rd Division

Well we did really well in the first half of the season. Were 2nd placed and close to the top. Lost 3 players, all for money, in Janaury but I was able to sign some replacements. Pushed on and despite a tense end where any of the top 5 could have won it going into the last few games, we came out on top.

WINNERS OF THE LEAGUE. WOOO.

The season was built on a strong defence. Epitomised by a 9 game unbeaten run with 8 wins that saw us concede just 1 goal. We didn't score too many so that was a worry near the end when it looked like goal difference could be the deciding factor but thankfully other teams slipped up in the run in allowing us a comfortable win against a team near the bottom on the final day to clinch it.

smp20 - good first season, keep it up ;). financial is very hard. the "easiest" way is to hold up the wage level, have a wage limit yourself and sell/release the top earner!

duccio - congrats to your first title! where your hexagram at the attribute overview?

Tecmo - good luck in Scotland!

Raon-l'Etape - season 2019/20

League Table - massive heartbreak as in the final fixture we lost our 2nd place.

French Cup - unlucky in the draw, and unlucky in the loss.

League Cup - the usual story, a loss against a bigger team.

Transfers - we sold some players to make profit.

Squad - we are relying on the youth squad to make up for the lack of alternatives.

Finances - we are losing too much money every season, it's impossible to us sell players for €5m every year.

Key Player Profiles:

Zdravko Mezga - a decent season, but far from his best.

Amne Harit - the most enlightened in the midfield.

Aboubacar Camara - a good season, in view to a starring role next season.

Stuart Brawls, União Micaelense 2020-21, Season 7, Portugal Premier League

Season Targets

After last seasons (our 1st in the Premier League) excellent finish of 9th in the league the hope was to improve this season and obtain a place in the Europa League for next season.

Taca De Portugal

We scrapped through the 3rd and 4th rounds 1-0 against Second League opposition and again won 1-0 in the 5th round against fellow Premier League side Belenenses.

We face another Second League side, AC Viseu, in the Quarter-Final and won alot more comfortably 4-0 including a Hat-Trick from Esteves.

The 2 Leg Semi-Final put us up against Braga. The Away leg came first and we battled back in the second half from being 2-1 down to equalise and go into the home leg level at 2-2.

We scored first in the second leg just before half time but Braga came back after the interval and equalised but we were able to press forward more and with goals from Borges and Felipe we won the leg 3-1 and went through to the final 5-3 on aggregate.

Our first ever appearance in the final saw us come up against the mighty Benfica.

An edgy first half from both sides saw half time come with no goals.

After 64 mins our right back Barata broke clear down the wing and crossed for Souza to power forward from midfield to bury the header to give us a 1-0 lead in the final.

Our joy was tempered when a minute later our centre back Haile Sailasse barged into one of the Benfica players and picked up a second yellow card leaving us a man down with 25 mins remaining.

Benfica then pressed forward to take advantage and their shots started raining down on our net.

We lasted until the 79th minute when they scored the equaliser. After that though we were able to hold on at 1-1 to take the game into Extra Time.

It was in the 104th minute that to my surprise that Esteves set Souza up for a tap in to give 10 man Micaelense a 2-1 lead with the second half of Extra Time to go.

We were hanging on to our lead despite the pressure that we were being put under and it was begining to look like we were going to hang on to win the Cup.

That was until the 116th minute when Benfica managed to get the equaliser they were looking for. We did hold on after that and the game went to penalties.

Our second penalty was taken by our 2 goal man Souza but on this occassion he wasn't able to beat the keeper and with Benfica scoring all our their penalties we lost 5-3.

So we finished as runners up but am more than happy at our display as complete underdogs going into the match.

Fixtures | Final

League Cup

Giving some other players chances in the second phase 2 leg game against lower league Moreirense saw us 0-0 after the first away leg but the home leg saw us run out 2-0 winners.

We were then into the third phase group c along with Sporting, Portimonense and Maritimo.

A surprise 1-0 away win against Sporting put us incontrol of the group and we consolidated the position with 3-0 and 4-1 wins to ensure we topped the group and progressed to the Semi-Final for the 1st time.

The Semi-Final put us up against Benfica away from home. The match didn't go to plan and we bowed out of the cup being beaten 2-0.

Fixtures ¦ Table

League - Premier League

We had an excellent season were we settled into third place that we maintained through the majority of the season.

We came under pressure towards the end of the season from Sporting. In the end we played Vit. Guimaraes in our final league game a day after everybody else had played (no idea why) knowing that a point would see us beat Sporting in the league after their win the day before.

A comfortable 3-0 win saw us clinch 3rd place in the league and amazingly put us into the Champions League for next season.

We suffered only 2 league defeats all season (but ended up 17 points behind Benfica) but the main problem we suffered with was drawing to many games as a result of lack of goals.

We finished joint top in the number of draws, second best defensive record, but only 10th in goals scored.

Rafael Veloso - First choice keeper who had an excellent season keeping 22 clean sheets and conceeding only 30. He also won the Fans Player of the Year.

Ebenezer Vieira - Young keeper used in a couple of cup games.

Barata - Solid season at right back with 6 assists.

Bernardo Carlos - Backup right back

Rui Silva - Another backup right back

Leandro - Solid season but only 2 assists.

Michael Cunha - Backup left back who got 2 assists in far fewer games than Leandro.

Augusto Castro - Continues to ahead to his record of most league appearances for the club. Played on rare occassions this season and is currently our only home grown player.

Haile Selassie - Was very good when called upon.

Thales - Excellent season at centre back.

Fabio Mariano - New signing who was very good and partnered Thales at centre back.

Jose Azevedo - Backup

Ndongo Daniel - Used mainly in Def Mid and was decent all season.

Maicol Morandini - Backup player used when needed.

Bruno - Backup player who played in a couple of cup games.

Oliveira - First team central midfielder who did what was needed defensively.

Junior - Signed on a free in January, he played in alot of games in the second half of the season in def mid but maybe expected a bit more.

Rui Borges - Another decent season from Rui who played well and contributed with 9 goals and 5 assists.

Samuel Owolabi - Played in plenty of games both as a starter and from the bench. Had expected more than the 2 goals and 0 assists that he managed.

Souza - Excellent first season as he bagged 10 goals and 13 assists.

Eduardo Esteves - Continues to add to his record breaking numbers of goals for the club. Added 19 goals, 8 assists and entered the 100 appearances group for the club.

Ludo Deceuninck - Injured for a good portion of the season but after a decent start (3 goals in the 1st half dozen games) he went goalless until the last league game of the season when he scored a Hat-Trick.

Goncalo Paciencia - Played rarely and will be let go in the summer.

Rosendo Noveleta - Played in alot of games and did well with 7 goals and 7 assists.

Felipe - Signed in January on a free and went straight into the starting lineup. Played regularly and finished the season with an impressive 6 goals and 7 assists.

Build up the squad and hope to consolidate our position in the league. Hopefully with the move into our new stadium our finances will improve and we can get a bigger wage budget.

minisav - great start with Großaspach, enjoy the prize money of the 2.Bundesliga!

kingjericho - another season of progress, you're getting closer and closer to Ligue 1, surely not far off now!

StellaF1 - Looking well-established as a Premier League side already, enjoy your first run in the Champions League!

gb2003 - Thanks. Keep up the good work with Rot-Weiss, if you can make it out of the 3.Liga, things get easier financially, it's just that difficult first step.

where your hexagram at the attribute overview?

I don't really ever look at it anyway, so I thought why not remove it. At the same time I made the player picture a little bit larger (the actual size. the game makes it smaller).

smp20

Good luck with C.E. Europa, though I notice on the other thread you have progressed a few seasons more already. I have managed C.E. Europa some game versions ago, and a tidbit I remember is that their stadium has been built on the roof of a parking garage.

Tecmo

Population 1140 - good luck. :)

Surely it must be only a matter of time before you bring the "meisterschale" to Mannheim.

minisav

Immediate success is immediately gratifying.

kingjericho

To lose league promotion in one game is more annoying than a defeat in a cup final!

StellaF1

Every season better than the previous one is the way to go.

Serie A - 5th (Predicted 6th)

Finishing 9 points behind the Serie A winners Milan is not bad at all.

Coppa Italia - Final

The Italian Cup has been a very good competition for Iblei, and this season wasn't much different. After beating Fiorentina, Parma and Juventus, it was time take on Napoli in the Final. Just like the last season's Final, this Final was a poor game. The match ended 0 - 0, and again penalties decided the winner. Everybody except my defender Cortinovis scored, so Napoli were the victors. One thing I had not noticed before was that Napoli's keeper (who was PoM) played all Coppa Italia matches, but only a handfull of league games. I guess the AI kept the back up keeper happy by giving him the Cup games.

Match Stats and Overview

Player Ratings

Euro Cup - Quarter Final

Iblei's first foray into the world of continental competitions. The group stage was pretty easy and we qualified without many dfficulties. In the next rounds Everton and Red Star did not offer much of a challenge, but in the Quarter Final Manchester United beat us home and away.

Pietro Catalfamo - DC

Youngster Catalfamo is definitely ready for more responsibility next season.

Gioacchino Alfieri - MC

Alfieri's 5th season as a first team regular. He is now my captain.

Raimondo Deplano - MC

Deplano has reached a decent ability level, but I'm not sure if he can develop all that much anymore.

Corrado Ruggieri - MC

Ruggieri should have potential to continue to improve his skills, but so far his performances on the pitch have been somewhat uninspiring. Maybe I have been unrealistically expecting something extraordinary because of his high flair.

Camillo Guarino - ST

22 League goals means that Guario was my most effective striker this season.

Giacomo Tudisco - ST

18 league goals. Tudisco's 2nd time scoring less than 18 goals in the past 10 seasons.

Orazio Calabrò - ST

Judging by ability and potential Clabrò should be Ragusa's best striker. That is not the case if one looks at the goal charts however. I'm having him train finishing.

Wow, I don't think I have had an in-game son before. Too bad Marco Borgese doesn't seem to be very talented. I still gave him a contract though. Nepotism!

In the same batch of youngsters there was another Borgese, but apparently he is not my son - maybe a nephew or something? :lol:Sebastiano Borgese looks a lot more promising than my son (Marco why can't you be more like Sebastiano?). What is interesting (well - in my opinion at least) is that Sebastiano is from the tiny village of Ginostra (population 30 - 40), which is located on the small island of Stromboli on the northern side of Sicily. Stromboli is nothing more than a tip of one of the most active volcanos in the world, and it has erupted every twenty minutes or so for hundreds of years. What a delightfully unlikely place.

Hi fellas. I'd ran on a lot of seasons with my Europa save and I was planning on putting together a mass update on here. However, after getting within grasping reach of the challenge I got sacked :(. I'm too deflated to update to the point of ultimate failure. I may give this another crack. Any suggestions on great places to start?

good to see some decent progress here. i have just finished my latest Le Mans season. it'd be fair to say it was a little more 'up and down' than my previous season in Ligue 1. i will try and get the update done in the coming days.

Ha, that's great, I wonder where he learnt to play football, it doesn't look like there's enough flat space for a pitch in Ginostra!

There seems to be a football club on the island, though not in Ginostra. Stromboli Scirocco play at the bottom level of the Italian football pyramid in Terza Categoria. He must have taken a boat every day to the other side of the island to get some basic training (there is no road between the villages) with the "sunday league" lads. :D

Interesting one with Ginostra, had me on google maps investigating :)

I'm thinking of holidaying to the end of the season and taking one of the teams who come up. Need to knock Europa off their perch.

Well this is new for me. We play each team in Scottish League 2 four times and after our first pass we're in first place.

Brora_Table.jpg

We actually started out 5-0, absolutely killing the opposition but since then injuries have slowed us down a bit. Managing promotion would be huge as three of my best players are grumbling about moving to a bigger club after this season.

Season 19 (2032/33) - Bundesliga

Groundhog Season

Transfers

As mentioned in last season's update, there were to be two big departures in the summer. Tiago went to Milan for a whopping £42.5m (a profit of about £35m in just two seasons), whilst Carlos went to Bayern for an initial £17.5m. Carlos, as predicted, played very little part in Bayern's campaign, making just 7 appearances.

We broke our transfer record signing Bernd Wunderlich, a German striker playing for PSG. He has huge potential and is already pretty great. Prince Ganyo also joins from PSG and will slot into our defence, whilst the rest of the transfers are ones for the future (Leon Gwechenberger in particular could be a star).

League Table - Graph - Fixtures 1 - Fixtures 2

Like last season, we took the title race to the final day of the season, and left ourselves needing a win whilst hoping Bayern would slip up. We took the lead in our match at HSV, but then were reduced to 10 men before half-time, and ended up losing 2-1. Bayern won comfortably anyway, but our defeat meant we slipped to 3rd place behind Dortmund. The top three of Bayern, Dortmund and ourselves were some distance clear of the rest of the pack.

Champions League

Like last season, we finished 2nd to Barcelona in the group stage, with our away form letting us down. A thumping 8-0 win in the final group game at home to Dynamo Kyiv finished the group off nicely.

We sneaked past Inter in the 1st Knockout Round, then eased past Real Madrid in the Quarter-Final after a superb first leg in the Bernabeu. The semi-finals again had three German sides present, but again we faced Man City. We won the first leg at home 3-1, but then collapsed to a crushing 3-0 defeat in Manchester. A win would have only set up a demoralising defeat to Bayern in the final anyway!

Squad Stats - Tactics

We started off with last season's 4-4-2, but introduced a 4-2-3-1 as the season went on.

Three players I want to mention here.

First up is record signing Bernd Wunderlich - started off a bit slowly domestically but really showed his quality in the Champions League. He looks like he should keep improving too.

Next is our other main signing this season, Prince Ganyo - regal in defence.

And finally, a player we bought three years ago from Atletico Madrid when he was just 17, Makris Amato - developing wonderfully and now in the first team, and hopefully there to stay for some time.

Youth Candidates

YP19 Carsten Orlov is the pick of this year's intake

Finances

A wage bill has climbed up a lot, but as long as we're playing CL football, we're fine. I would like an expansion to the stadium though.

What's the deal with Scotland? I downloaded a save game for Wick Academy (2019) but for some reason they didn't come up. Like the idea of being Wick Academy and doing a youth only challenge!

Scrap that, just seen its a relegation play-off. I know what to do now :)

Wick Academy F.C. 2019

Manager Profile ~ Facilities ~ Squad

So here I am in 2019 and I've taken over at Wick Academy. They are the northernmost team in the Scottish Highland League so they're most certainly the northernmost team in the Scottish Football League now. I'm going to be playing this with an additional challenge of mine - I'm going to do a youth challenge therefore I will not be signing anyone except from players that have already come through at Wick Academy to sign back (I only start with 16 players). I'm also going to be using Scottish Staff only, my first port of call is to bring some in as it's just me and the chairman at the moment!

Rot-Weiss Essen 2016 / 2017

Yes, we did it. We got promote! It was a superb season. 25 games without losing in 3.Liga was a new record. Also i won the Manager of the Year Award!

Fode Koita won the Player of the Year Award without being the division top goalscorer. He had a superb season with 24 goals and 10 assists but i couldn't renew his contract. At no time he had the intension to renew his contract and plays next year at 1860 München (3.Liga)... :(

Ali M'Madi who was 3th in the player of the year award also leaves me next season. I couldn't handle his wage demands about 750k yearly so he plays next year in Aue (2.Bundesliga).

But 4 other players was also superb ( Team of the Year) so i hope next year the can compensate the loss. My first transfer target is to sign an new striker!

Raon-l'Etape - season 2020/21

League Table - our breakthrough season, a great record which had us promoted as champions.

French Cup - we could have done better.

League Cup - a good display in a match that was lost before it started.

Transfers - we didn't had a big sale because we had already lost key players on free transfers.

Squad - good quality overall, in part due to our good youth setup, which provided us 9 players in the first team.

Finances - hopefully next season the money will be a lot more.

Key Player Profiles:

Yuri Cartechini - a great tally of goals and assists from our main creative outlet.

Aboubacar Camara - he did well but we could have scored more.

Ousmane Leye - a great debut season, boosted by his long shot and free kick skill.

Season

My aim was to avoid the relegation but my team has higher ambitions :D. Not the promotion but a 4th place was a great achievement. Schwabke was brilliant with 15. shoutouts

Overview

Information

Finances

It was a great financial year with the 4th place and the 2 rounds in dfb pokal. Also the Transfer Revenue was a big factor!

Squad

Best Player: Daniel Schwabke - With 15 Shoutouts he was the key factor for the 4th place. I'm very happy to have such a great back!

Newcomer of the Season: Karl-Heinz Klauke - my new hot prospect. Has a good first season and has a lot of games! I'm very pleased!

Gaetano Monachello - A good first season with 12 goals and 6 assists but i hope he can score next season a little bit more!

Sambou leaves me because he wants too much ( like always :D ). I can handle his demands but i doesn't want to :D.

Transfers

I didn't know that i have such a great saison so i sold Zenga and Hummels before the season starts. Zenga wanted about 800k yearly and he had only one year contract. Hummels was a hot prospect but with Karl-Heinz Klauke i had a better young player and 2,8 Mio with 40% Profit was too good to turn down.

Wick Academy F.C. 2019/2020

League Table ~ Past Positions ~ Play-Offs ~ Domestic Cups ~ Youth Intake ~ Transfers

An excellent first season for us as we beat all expectations and book a place in League 1 via the play-offs. We were smashed out of the Challenge and League cups early, but a decent run culminating in a £130k payout at Hearts in the Scottish Cup meant we have some money to invest in new training facilities. We've also got our junior coaching up to an adequate standard which brings me onto my next point - youth intake. I was pretty happy with it, at the moment I can't be expecting too much but we got the target man we needed. In terms of transfers, we brought 3 players back that had come through the academy which will be our only transfers throughout the game unless we get the chance to bring Gary Mackay-Steven back to his hometown.

Squad ~ Charlie Mackay-Steven ~ Andy Boyle

I guess I can't expect huge ratings at this level so anything 7.00+ is very good. We were good going forward this season mainly thanks to our wingers and upfront combo, but League 2 Player of the Season Charlie Mackay-Steven is the pick of the bunch. Andy Boyle is the star of our youth intake and I'm sure he'll do better than his 1 in 12 record next season.

Youth Intake

Daniel More ~ Steven Preston ~ Glenn Park ~ Sean Munroe ~ Patrick Evans

A very decent intake this year with several players that will instantly become part of the first team.

Fixtures Part 1 ~ Fixtures Part 2 ~ League Table ~ Past Positions ~ Domestic Cups ~ Finances

We had an awful start to our league campaign picking up just 8 points from the opening 17 games in which we incurred 7 straight losses. We were 10 points from safety and we were looking down and out. However, we managed to re-kindle some good form and ended up staying up! We even managed to finish mid-table after a very good late run of wins in the league. However, the real success story this season was our cup run. We had a relatively easy run to the Quarter Final although we made hard work of it. Here we faced Dundee United who showed their complacency by fielding a weakened side but after we went a man down just 5 minutes in I thought we were doomed. However an amazing hat-trick from Boyle put us 3-0 up and a late comeback from Dundee Utd was not enough. Next up were Hamilton who on paper should still annihilate us despite being one of the weaker sides in the SPL. It was a tight tense match and we went one down just 27 mins in, but a latish goal took us to extra time. Hamilton once again took the lead straight from kick-off and it looked like the game was theirs. However Boyle had other ideas and fired in a header on 116 while Munro made history by hammering in a winner from a corner in the 120th minute. Not only was he taking Wick to their first ever final, but also became the youngest ever scorer in the Cup. In the final we were overpowered by a Celtic side that were filled with quality English players and just one Scotsman! It was 7-0 at HT and it was clear to see they were a cut above us. Nonetheless I'm delighted to have reached the final and we will be competing in the Europa League next season starting in the 2nd Qualifying Round. Not to mention the £1m+ we've made from it which will help with developing the club. :D

Squad ~ Andy Boyle ~ Boyle Transfer ~ Mark Dodds ~ Charlie Mackay-Steven

Dodds and Boyle formed a formidable partnership together scoring 56 goals between them. It was a rare occasion where both strikers were ever present throughout the season - I chose to rest them between games rather than for games because they were just too valuable. Dodds became the record League 1 scorer with 24 while Boyle set the record in the Scottish Cup with 9. Mackay-Steven was amongst the top performers yet again, scoring 11 and laying on 19 for his team-mates. Unfortunately we are losing Boyle at the end of the season as he will be joining Burnley. £375k seemed too good to refuse back in January, maybe in hindsight after our cup run I would not have sold him as we are without a target man now and the partnership he forged with Dodds will be hard to replace.

SV Waldhof Mannheim

Season 20 (2033/34) - Bundesliga

Job done.

Transfers

One signing, as Argentinian goalkeeper joins on a free transfer and goes straight into the starting XI, as previous No. 1 Jose Manuel Suarez leaves for Schalke. Also departing is Daniel Bernardo (£10m to Juventus), who has been a key part of our midfield for the past eight seasons.

League Table - Graph - Fixtures 1 - Fixtures 2

So there we go, challenge completed! We stepped it up a level domestically this season, and once we took hold of top spot just before Christmas, we held onto it, opened up a lead and eased to our first ever Bundesliga title by nine points.

We capped off the domestic campaign with our first ever German Cup victory too, defeating Wolfsburg in the final.

Champions League

Almost a perfect season! Topped our group and then knocked out Anderlecht, Bayern and PSG on our way to the final, where unfortunately we collapsed on a scale similar to AC Milan in 2005. 2-0 up at half-time, and Chelsea down to 10 men, we stopped playing, allowed them to pull level, and then lost on penalties. They take revenge for our victory three years ago.

Squad Stats - Tactics 1 - Tactics 2

A 4-4-2 was good enough against weaker sides, whilst a 4-2-2-1-1 worked excellently against big teams.

Ignazio Trapani had a superb season, particularly in the Champions League. He finished with 26 goals in total, but that was a few shy of Bernd Wunderlich's tally. Top-scorer in the league and broke a couple of club records too.

Lastly I'll just mention Fabián París, our new goalkeeper. The only real change to our starting XI this season, he finished with 17 clean sheets as we conceded just 24 goals in the league.

Wunderlich won Bundesliga Player of the Year, Trapani won Striker of the Year and París won Goalkeeper in the Year.

Alongside Wunderlich and París, Giacomo Rossi, Prince Ganyo and YP11 Estiven Peña found themselves in the Team of the Year.

Youth Candidates

A better intake than the last couple, with the tag going to YP20 Mücahit Kaba.

Finances

Too much money. But finally the board has agreed to spend some of that cash on expanding the stadium, which will get an extra 16,000 seats.

Next season

So there we go, 20 seasons after joining SVW Mannheim, 901 games later, and the challenge is complete. I'm not sure exactly what I'll do now, I'm considering a new save but at the same time would quite like to keep going with things here.

Alternatively, I do have a job interview with Bayern currently awaiting a response in my inbox...

If anyone wants any more screenshots, feel free to ask.

Congrats johnnyquest409! There's nothing more rewarding in this game than taking your team from top to bottom.

You can always aim at more so don't abandon this save right away, you can aim to be the top team in the world reputation-wise, have Ballon D'Or winners, etc...

Enjoy the success

Rot-Weiss Essen 2018 / 2019

Season

I had only an average season. After 9 games i was 1st but my team was this season very inconstant so i finish only as 11th. Gaetano Monachello was so awful that I'm consider to sell him.

He scored 1 or 2 goals in the second half of the season. 6 goals and 4 assists in 18 startings is a poor performance for my best earner!

But i'm looking forward to have a better season next year and have a little bit more transfer activity.
