4321 Tactic Oxford to Prem Title in 6 Seasons

Recommended Posts

Thank you soooo much for this awesome tactic! I find myself in the predicament of manager 2 division Hereford (Only ones who would hire me after being fired from derby) and getting my butt handed to me each and every game...until this tactic! Now the rest of division crap are ruing the day!!

Thank you again! :)

Hi Mate,

I made a tactic like this a couple season's ago but felt i was a little bit over run in the centre, i reverted back to a more of a 4-4-2.

I have implimented the arrows on the Centre midfielders to my tactic and with a couple of tweaks i have a tactic very similer to this one, it seems to be a very good formation. thanks for the thought of the back Arrows i never came up with that 1 for soem reason. ;)

I'd like to thank the maker of this tactic. I'm not a good FM manager, in my game I've played with ConfNorth SOlihull Moors for 7 seasons and have only been able to make it up to Conf. Premier, but in the past got bashed around in Conf Premier. Now with this tactic, my team is dominating. Just won 7-3 (highest scoring game ever) with 6 goals from my striker, and things are finally starting to look positive for my squad.

I need someone's help. Used this tactic for Perugia in Serie C/1 and won the league no worries and conceded few goals. Now I'm in Serie B I am getting hammered and conceding goals and alot of them. Ironically headers from corners and crosses the main suspects.

What can I do to maybe stop this? Tweak the formation maybe? OI? Take off some Farrows add some Barrows? I have a decent side, but don't believe I'm punching above me weight..... Little worried though now, any advice?

Thanks on advance/ :)

Just downloaded your tactic on the filefront link and about to start using it but a question beforehand; do the Wide midfielders/pushed back wingers score "regularly/often" in this tactic in your test saves? (Tactic wise and not based on the quality of players at anyone's disposal.) In your test saves, where did the goals come from percentage-wise? (without taking into account any corner trick whatever)

Knap I was just wondering would this tactic work if the wingers were moved to AMR and AML and there were 3 CMs. I might give it a go and find out I want to try and get a formation that takes full advantage of the wingers. Have you tried changing the shape at all before.

I have just started a new game with Hellas Verona in Serie Ca. They should win the league.

The friendlies havenot gone well but I am not giving up yet.

You say the AMs are the most important. What stats should I be looking for? I usually start with Passing/Creativity and then start by adding Finishing and others.

Are the wingers out and out wingers?

I think this tactic is the best. It may not work for all teams but other factors play a major role such as morale etc.

But i believe this tactic is the BEST ever to be released on 8.02 at least

Kimz is good, however is too unpredictable and concedes way too many goals at the back.

Congrats Knap and would like to see a better version of this tactic if possible. Im sure you've tweaked it. Please release any other tactic thats based on this great one

All the best

Having mastered FM with my own formation and tactic plans, I have decided to start testing other peoples tactics, and this one is a winner so far. Totally reliable, defensively pretty solid, and some of the football the team plays is excellent. I'm using it with Ipswich and I'm ten points clear at the top and I'm only half way through my first season. Looking forward to seeing how it adapts to the Premier League.

Thumbs up from me so far.

I have been using this tactic for a 1½ season with Notthingham Forrest. I haven't played much FM lately because of wow ;) but I find this tactic pretty stable.

I don't know many players in FM, so I haven't found all the "right" buys at different levels to make it easier, but the football I like is offensive football that are mixed: crosses, through balls, counter attack, one-two's, dribble, long shots, etc. I haven't got there yet with this tactic, but the only offensive player I bought for my 2nd season after promotion are an attacker. It took some time for him to settle on the team, but then he has been a true gem (20 games, 19 goals) :0)

I mainly thought of a tall targetman because the play is slow, and you need someone who can be competent in the box from crosses, but I made sure he also had some "pacey" striker abilities too.

- Targetman: heading, strength, jumping, finishing, bravery

- Pacey: good pace, of the ball, acceleration

- General striker: composure, anticipation, agility, balance, technique

I noticed that the striker gets many headers and passes, so I believe someone like Berbatov, Van Nistelroy, Ibrahimovic type is the best striker-type for this tactic. Needs to be competent in heading, strong, technical plus a cool finisher (got many one-on-ones).

I cannot believe how good this tactic is!!!!

If you have two good AMC'S you cant go wrong. FIRST season with Panathinaikos and Im in the Semis of the Champions League. Knocked out Liverpool in First Knockout stage and then Lyon in Quarters

My two AMC'S are Karagounis and the amazing Buonanotte. Gilberto is playing MC. I won the Greek League only losing one match whole season.

Knap, this tactic is so much fun I was playing FM for 4 hours straight!!

BEST tactic out there and I cant express how good it is.

And my CB, Bellaid (who i recommend to anyone!) has scored 21 goals in all comps.

Truly amazing tactic.

Thank you so much for the inspiration, and everyone should use this tactic.

It is for 8.0.2 yeah. I don't understand how you cant have success with it as its worked for me with Crewe, Birmingham, Juventus and Blackburn. Then again I have used other so-called successful tactics that have failed guess you gotta find one that suits your team. Also give it a few games.

Last 3 away games.

lost 4-0

lost 4-0

lost 5-0

lost 4-1

Its my second season using this tactic. I just get hammered every away game. What do you do away from home? OI?? set DLINE deeper use counter attack? you must do something coz look at my last 4 away games.

*4 away games

Look mate, no offence but you are either a very weak team or you cant manage. You need two good AMC's. In first season I made Champions League FINAL!!!!!!!!!

Enough said, its the best tactic on this forum. I cant believe ppl play with Kimz; being realistic, its a failure for the game if we play tactic such as KIMZ.

Its a disgrace to the football manager name. Im sure in fm09 they will not allow for UGLY looking tactic such as KIMZ to be a part of the game. Not being rude, simply realistic

Awesome tactic. In my game i made some tweaks and it works. Change the defend corner with no men at posts, two CB mark tall & two FB mark small, 4 fwd, 2man mark. Also change SC close dwn to mix and easy tackle. Move 2AMC to MC farrow. Before tweak my team draw more, now more win and stil undef after 26games. My team: Costil, Zubar, Eduardo, Fazio, Bellaid, Downing, Lulinha, Jimenez, Marchioso, Nordveidt, Stancu. It helps to have someone like Downing who is dead ball specialist. Cheears.

You dont need to change anything in this tactic I never use OI and never change anything for away games. Not sure how you can conceed that many goals thats very strange you must have some awful CBs and GK lol. Like I said in earlier post some tactics just arent for some teams but I cant see how this one wont work for you.

A more defensive tactic is just to use mxd fwd runs on FBs, with width at normal. I tend to find a good tactic is good both home and away, the more defensive tactic produces more dras and may help if a weak team in League.

I have a tweaked CB version that made 108pts on holiday season, all wins with just 3 away draws.

Other formations are available just not tested apart from holiday season, including no farrows and an attacking 442.

I usually opt for maximum pitch size and do not use OIs

Oxford testing - just promoted from BSP to League 2?

P23 W18 D2 L3 F47 A 17 with both main CBs out injured at start of season.

If I have time I can set a MU game up, may be more suited to my AML and AMR tactic. Have other tactics worked and what manager level did you set?

Testing with Oxford

Goals from corners so far 11 (1 more than next best) not exactly a cheat. However as I test many tactics, I tend to set them all up same way and there is a lot of variation season to season. I also test non corner trick tactics and they score about same from corners.

Most goals are score by lone forward then AMCs but the wingers will cut in and with a good TB will score as will the DM.

If you use a tactic buy players to suit tactic, as you want your best players playing to full potential and this tactic uses a MR and ML more supply not scoring.

I'm testing with Oxford (Holiday season Spurs squad so have to play top 4) with a large database but no added extras and not using regens, I can therefore recommend tactics and buys available to all if required. So far top of League 2 and should make League 1 without problems. No tweaking or OIs are being used so again available to all as downloaded.

The tactic formation appears to be the most balanced in general but I am working on other formations, but avoiding odd formations.

Holiday season results

Above new tactic 108pts

Kimz V2 107pts

Original tactic 106pts

Kimz V1 100pts

Just started with Sunderland friendlies were great league is only 3 games in but conceeded a few goals might change to the new CB setting. I have bought alot of players though so maybe they need more time to gel and get used to each other. What are the differences in the new tactic knap? I ask as I cant get to FM08 for a day or so to check myself.

Trying to target TM and FC to make a more solid defence, appears to work.

I have played with both Oxford and London Utd both new 1st teams and not had a problem with gelling. A team does need time to work with a tactic and this can take 20 games but a tactic should work 1st game subject to luck. The AI do not appear to follow this rule (masters of changing tactic) but then they only play 2 serious games a season.

Luck is a big variable however I prefer to start with a tactic with the most potential.

I suppose you mean because of the 'crazy arrows'?

You'll notice that knap's are based on Kimz. They are quite similar. And though you can't see it there are arrow-like things in the tactic, most notably the complete lack of Creative Freedom.

So if you're into a tactic being believable rather than successful (if they have to be different), then knap's are really no different than Kimz.

The only way to get a truly believable tactic to work is to not exploit the game in any way, and that means using nearly default tactics and tweaking to suit your team, every match.

"Not being rude, simply realistic"

Your post is anything but realistic. You want a tactic to look good in the tactics screen and can't be bothered to check the settings to see if knap's is 'realistic' or 'pretty'. Your criteria don't even work in your own defense. Sorry.

I only posted the above because I think its a mistake to bash Kimz (or knap's) tactics for the wrong reasons. And hypocrisy is one of the 'wrong' reasons for certain. If you don't like that some tactics take advantage of the ME, then complain to SI. That would make sense.

Mister C

This tactic had the following comments when used outside UK

http://www.savefile.com/files/1714733

I can't believe this tactic. I just feel like I broke FM2008 by playing it. In one more season with Rayo I repeated my sucess and won another treble. Next, I started a new game with Manchester City. In my first season I got a CL spot and won the League Cup. Second season I won: CL, PL, League Cup, FA Cup, and Community Shield. Every single trophy I played for.

The nice thing is that you won't win the league with a bunch of bad players. But as your teams gets better, you do get results. As City has tons of money in the game, I built a fantastic squad. And with Rayo I was many seasons in the game and also had a high quality squad.

But it's by far the best tactic I've seen, needing almost no tweaking and working with different teams and different leagues. In Europe, it seens to play even better.

Nice work dude :D. For those who doesn't have a very strong team which of your tactics would you recomend more ?

I'll jump in here:

knap's Xtree tactics are pretty solid for weak teams. Follow the link he posted above or see: http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php?t=38098

Kimz require a decent team usually, as does this AME tactic. But you can try tweaking these 'down' for really poor teams and see how you do.

I test with Oxford and as well as being promoted to League 1 outplayed a team in League 1 to win JPT, so should work with an underdog.

However, to be more defensive minded reduce FB runs to mixed and width to normal.

I will probably need to get Oxford to Championship before I can test "Live".
