8 minutes gone and Hermandinho plays a ball over the top. Atas + Gonzalez play a probably needless one two in their 6 yard box, but it still results in Atas tapping home. 2-0.

Forgot to include this in the orginial update:

Canterbury Utd got to the final of the Oceanic Club Championship, beating AS Venus 2-1 in the semis. They faced Auckland City, their fellow Kiwi team.

In the final, Habib Halali played the whole game. After 90 minutes the score was 1-1 and during extra time no further goals were scored. It therefore went to a dreaded penalty shoot-out:

Match Overview

Habib Halali scored his penalty, but unfortunately Auckland City were penalty perfect. Nevertheless, Halali does pick up a runners-up medal.

Kyrgyzstan U23s v U.A.E. U23s

Weds 7th May: Olympic Games 2008 Asian Qualifying 3rd Round Group Stage

Pre Match

All 13 fit Kyrgyzstani superkids are included in the matchday squad, 10 starting and 3 on the bench (Alan, Al-Dahash + Halali). This means that Elfdog starts a qualifing game. Davo is captain.

My Opinion

Easy win for Kyrgyzstan, several goals for them. God knows how many Azeryk will get if he stays on the pitch a while.

13 minutes gone, Bartinho passes the ball down the line for Azeryk, who cuts inside and puts in a delightful little ball for Bill who heads in from inside the 6 yard box. 1-0.

Ryan hits a freekick on the edge of the UAE area over the bar.

30 minutes gone and Bill puts the ball in the net but it is ruled out for offside.

Bartinho hits the post after a pee-roller of a shot from 25 yards, lol.

36 minutes gone and Kyrgyzstan go down to 10 men! The one non-superkid is sent off for a professional foul about 30 yards out. Elfdog saves the resultant freekick.

42 minutes gone and the 10 men double their advantage. Taphouse plays a lovely ball from the halfway line into the feet of Azeryk, who turns and whallops it in from the edge of the area. 2-0.

HT: Kyrgyzstan U23s 2 v 0 U.A.E. U23s

Half Time Stats

Davo is replaced by Halali at halftime, who takes on the role of captain.

Bill is subbed after 52 minutes.

54 minutes gone and Azeryk is fouled in the penalty area. Up steps Ryan who slots the ball home. 3-0.

Bartinho is subbed after 57 minutes, but not for Al-Dahash!! Whats going on?!

Azeryk put through by Taphouse shoots wide.

Elfdog makes a good save from an U.A.E. corner.

Azeryk blasts over the bar in injury time after good work down the right by Taphouse.

FT: Kyrgyzstan U23s 3 v 0 U.A.E. U23s

Match Overview

Player Stats

Not the whitewash as predicted, but still a dominant win. Kyrgyzstan end the campaign with 6 wins out of 6. MOM goes to Taphouse, who simply destroyed U.A.E's left back and left mid for the whole game.

Turkmenistan U23s v Qatar U23s

Weds 7th May: Olympic Games 2008 Asian Qualifying 3rd Round Group Stage

Pre Match

11 superkids start for Turkmenistan, with a further 4 on the bench (Maldinov, Stelios, Dumats + Tomaldinho). Only Rossini isn't included, no apparent reason why. Captain is Swinson.

My Opinion

Turkmenistan to win, by how many depends on how much they want to impress their fans as they bow out of the competition.

4 minutes gone and Chaoconov runs down the left flank and puts in a ball to the near post from the byline. Gonzalez out leaps the defender and heads home. 1-0.

7 minutes gone and this time Swinson runs down the right flank and centres a ball from the byline. The keeper comes, flaps and only palms the ball into the feet of Ali Obeid who is left with a tap in. 2-0.

9 minutes gone and Atas + Gonzalez play a one two, with the former collecting the return ball and stroking past the keeper. 3-0 and not even 10 minutes gone!!

18 minutes gone and Gonzalez wins a flick on for Atas, but one on one with the keeper, the keeper saves well.

23 minutes in and Koppers decides to go on a run, steaming forward before narrowly pullin ghis shot wide of the RH post.

Atas scores again after 30 mintues, but only thanks to a huge deflection that completely wrong foots the keeper. 4-0.

Chaoconov has a powerful strike but the keeper parries well.

2nd minute of injury time at the end of the 1st half, Chaoconov whips in a cross to Gonzalez who heads it into the corner of the net. 5-0.

HT: Turkmenistan U23s 5 v 0 Qatar U23s

Half Time Stats

Could quite easily have been 10-0 at halftime if Turkmenistan had taken their chances more!

51st minute and Gonzalez hit a fairly half-hearted effort from 30 yards, only to see it go in off the post. What an unlikely belter for his hattrick. 6-0. Ali Obeid is then replaced by Tomaldinho.

54th minute and Taraldo hits a lovely cross field ball into the path of Chaoconov, who at the 2nd attempt puts in the cross for Gonzalez to head in his 4th of the game. 7-0.

69 minutes gone and Chaoconov swings in a freekick from out on the left wing. Swinson rises tall and heads in the next goal. 8-0, can Turkmenistan match Kyrgyzstan's 10-0 exploits against Nepal?!

Libertinho is subbed off.

71st minute, Swinson with a corner on the right. Poor headed clearance goes straight to the feet of Gonzalez 10 yards out and you know what happens next. 9-0.

They've equalled it. 78th minute, Swinson with a corner from the left this time and another poor clearance falls to Atas this time. 10-0.

Swinson is subbed.

They have a chance to beat the highest score so far.... After a foul on Atas, it is a penalty to Turkmenistan with 9 minutes to go. Up steps Koppers who scores. 11-0!!!!

86th minute and a long throw from Chaoconov finds Atas, who swivles on the ball and fires home. Getting silly now, 12-0.

FT: Turkmenistan U23s 12 v 0 Qatar U23s

Match Overview

Player Stats

Well, where do you start. 6 Turkmenistan players got a rating of 10 - well done to them. 8 Qatar players got a rating of 1 - not so well done to them!! Great preparation for Turkmenistan who have the Stanlies Cup up next at the end of the month.

MOM, well take your pick, Gonzalez was awarded it, but I think Atas for his 4 goals deserves a mention, as does Chaoconov for his 5 assists.

Turkmenistan give their crowd something to shout about - just a shame that only 96 people turned up to watch this dead rubber!! icon_rolleyes.gif

The manager of Sevilla has praised CSKA's Taraldo. Taraldo has accepted the praise graciously. Taraldo has interest in him from PSV, Club Brugge and Sevilla.

Ryan has received praise from his manager for his recent good form. Ryan is delighted with the recognition.

Prof Frink has had a nightmare end to the season. He will miss out on the Stanlies Cup and the Olympic Games as he has broken his leg and will be out for 4-6 months.

Freealdinho on the other hand has had a great end to the season as Swansea were crowned League One champions on the last day of the season, winning 2-1 away from home with Freealdinho scoring the opening goal of the game.

Bill has also had a disappointing end to the season, with Belenenses going on a horror run of form at the end of the season and being relegated from the Portuguese top flight. He does have interest in him from Celta so hopefully he can move on from here.

Alvaro De Santiago is wanted by Barcelona.

As an Arsenal fan I have great pleasure in announcing Tottenham's relegation from the Premiership. icon_wink.gificon_biggrin.gif

21st May 2008

Another special update due to the Stanlies Cup beginning on the 24th May.

Int Call Ups

Kyrgyzstan have selected their 13 fit superkids for the Stanlies Cup, so no Lui, Birkinaldo + Prof Frink.

Turkmenistan have selected 14 superkids. Rossini recently picked up a calf strain and will be out for 2-4 weeks. Selim Atas has been withdrawn from the squad by his club Athletico!!

PSV have announced in the media that they would like to buy Samaras Taraldo. Taraldo has stated he would like to move to a bigger club now, although his manager at CSKA has issued a 'hands off' warning.

The Champions League Final took place today. Unfortunately Koppers was not involved in the match day sqaud. Chelsea beat Valencia 2-1 thanks to goals by Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba. Chelsea win the 2008 Champions League.

That result affects the Premiership places for Europe as Chelsea had finished in 5th place in the league. They have now therefore denied Villa a place in the Champions League next season.

Belgium - Premier League

Anderlecht have won the league by a mile. Chaoconov misses out on a medal again though.

England - Premier League/URL]

Man Utd have won the premier league.

England - Championship

Prof Frink and Crystal Palace finished 4th and lost in the playoff semis.

England - league One

Swansea and Freealdinho win the league.

Portugal - Premier League

Bill and Belenenses are relegated. Braga finish in midtable.

Spain - La Ligua

Athletico, Villareal, Zaragoza, Espanyol and Sevilla never looked like winning the title but were also never in fear of getting relegated. Espanyol, Athletico and Zaragoza have European football to look forward to next season.

The Italian and Turkish leagues are yet to finish.

Kyrgyzstan v Turkmenistan

Sat 24th May: The Stanlies Cup 2008 - 1st Leg

Pre Match

Mark Lawrenson has selected 9 superkids to start for Kyrgyzstan, with only the 2 centre back slots filled by non-superkids. Alan, Al-Dahash, Freealdinho + Halali are on the bench.

David Pleat has selected 11 superkids to start for Turkmenistan! The remaining 3 superkids called up are on the bench (Maldinov, Ali Obeid + Dumats). Swinson is captain.

TV Opinion

My Opinion

Kyrgyzstan just don't lose at home, but missing both their centre backs will be a big test for them, although Turkmenistan are missing Atas. I think a draw in the 1st leg.

Benj, 30 seconds into the game is free and unmarked 6 yards out with the ball, but completely messes up the shot.

Elfdog makes a good save from Gonzalez after 10 minutes.

18 minutes gone and Koppers picks out Stelios with an inch perfect ball. He shimmies passed his marker and fires past Elfdog. 0-1.

The lead only lasts for 5 minutes though as Benj feeds Azeryk who shoots on the turn and fires into the left corner from the edge of the area. 1-1.

Fantastic save by De Santiago from a powerful long range effort by Robson.

End to end stuff culminates in Ryan hacking a ball off the line after a shot by Gonzalez.

HT: Kyrgyzstan 1 v 1 Turkmenistan

Half Time Match Stats

Half Time Player Ratings

Fairly even I thought, though the stats show that Turkmenistan may just have the edge.

A boring and conservative 2nd half that was filled with substitutions was brought to life with 5 minutes to go when Alan picked out the top corner from 25 yards, only to see De Santiago flunging himself across the goal and tipping it out for a corner.

Ironically, from that very corner Turkmenistan go up the other end and almost score - the ball rolling across the goalmouth but the non-superkid forward for Turkmenistan couldn't get their in time to toe-poke it in.

Taphouse had an attempt whistle over the bar in injury time.

The 2nd half was a non-event unfortunately, but it does leave things wide open for the 2nd leg, with Turkmenistan having got that vital away goal. MOM went to Benj.

Turkmenistan (1) v (1) Kyrgyzstan

Weds 28th May: The Stanlies Cup 2008 - 2nd Leg

Just a reminder that if the game finishes 1-1 after 90 minutes, no extra time will be played and Kyrgyzstan will retain the trophy as current holders. All other score lines will produce an outright winner.

Pre Match

Mark Lawrenson has selected 9 superkids to start for Kyrgyzstan, with only the 2 centre back slots filled by non-superkids. Alan, Al-Dahash, Freealdinho + Halali are on the bench.

David Pleat has selected 11 superkids to start for Turkmenistan. The remaining 3 superkids called up are on the bench (Maldinov, Ali Obeid + Dumats). Swinson is captain.

So the identical situation of the 1st leg then!!

TV Opinion

My Opinion

Turkmenistan at home and with more superkids in their starting lineup makes me think that they will edge it.

5 minutes in and Elfdog is called into action, tipping over a Gonzalez header. From the resultant corner, Elfdog punches the ball into the path of Libertinho who knocks the ball into the net. 1-0.

Long ball from Taraldo finds Stelios who takes a couple of touches and then slots it passed Elfdog. 2-0 and only 12 minutes gone.

After a nice short quick passing move down the left, Bartinho feeds Azeryk who then finds the far corner of the net. 2-1, 17 minutes gone and what a game we have here!

Bill picks up a yellow card.

34 minutes gone and Gonzalez plays a shocking pass, straight back to Azeryk, who went in one-on-one with the keeper and then had the audacity to chip De Santiago from the edge of the area. 2-2 and Kyrgyzstan are now ahead on away goals.

Libertinho is injured after 41 minutes and is subbed for Ali Obeid.

HT: Turkmenistan 2 v 2 Kyrgyzstan

Half Time Match Stats

Half Time Player Ratings

Halali replaces Bill at half time as Kyrgyzstan change to their 4-2-1-2-1.

Azeryk blasts over when it looked like he would score.

Robson picks up a yellow card.

Many substitutions between 60 and 70 minutes.

Hermandinho, who is further forward than you may expect, picks up a half clearance by Kyrgyzstan and finds a non-superkid in acres of space and he slots home. 3-2 now and Kyrgyzstan go back to a 4-4-2 formation.

71st minute and Taraldo, now playing at left back, lumps a ball forward and the non-superkid who just scored latches onto it, rounds Elfdog and finishes to make it 4-2.

But it isn't all over yet. De Santiago rushes miles out of his area to clear the ball, but it falls straight to Alan, who from 40 yards whacks it towards the empty net. 4-3 and still over 15 minutes to go!

2 minutes to go and Halali lumps a long ball into the area and it just evades the head of Freealdinho.

OH MY GOD!!! Seconds into injury time and Kyrgyzstan equalise. Freealdinho plays a cutting throughball to Taphouse and shrugs off the advances of the defender next to him. The 1st shot goes straight at De Santiago, but the ball goes straight to Freealdinho who puts the ball in the net. 4-4 and Kyrgyzstan lead on away goals.

FT: Turkmenistan 4 v 4 Kyrgyzstan

Match Overview

Kyrgyzstan Player Stats

Turkmenistan Player Stats

What a game! Had so many twists and turns, Turkmenistan twice taking a 2 goal lead and twice Kyrgyzstan pulling level. What a great advert for football and the ability of these two teams.

MOM goes to Azeryk for his 2 goals, especially that 2nd one which was simply stunning.

Kyrgyzstan win and retain The Stanlies Cup 2008 after winning on away goals after a 5-5 draw on agg.

Starting to look like a quality player now. Still a few useful attributes on the low side (passing and off the ball, to name just two), but there's still time to improve on those.

Also good to see that I actually started one league match for Anderlecht this season. And a squad rotation status now as well.

I have a feeling that next season (if I'm still at Anderlecht then) will finally see a break-through on a club level. Not as a totally first team player yet, probably, but I expect at least four times as many appearances as this season.

Both teams had plenty of fixtures in the last 12 months due to Olympic Games 2008 and World Cup 2010 Qualifiers. Both teams are still in with a chance of qualifying for the World Cup 2010. However, only Kyrgyzstan will be appearing at the Olympic Games this summer after Turkmenistan could not beat Saudi Arabia in the qualifiers.

Just a reminded that Selim Atas won the Asian Young Player of the Year 2007 award.

Azeryk - almost single handedly got Kyrgyzstan through the Olympic Games qualifiers and the Stanlies Cup.

Freealdinho - his goals helped Swansea to win the League One title.

and the winner is.... Azeryk - I just couldn't ignore his goalscoring exploits at U23s and senior level and so many vital goals makes me feel he is a deserved winner this season.

Ummm, good question!! You're listed as 'on holiday' at the moment which never helps, but it does say you are 'considering your options'.

I'll tell you in a minute, been watching the Grand Prix for the last couple of hours and I've only just started the game up again. I can tell you that all 3 bids for De Santiago have been accepted so far (Inter, Arsenal and Barcelona). icon14.gif
