Following the success of our FM2012 release we are aiming to build on our success with the FM2013 version of Levels 7 & 8 in the English National League System.

As ever, this download will provide you with the most advanced, realistic, detailed and reliable League expansion around. Accept NO substitutes!

Version 7.4 is compatible with the FM2013 Default Database (13.0.0), the FM2013 Winter Transfer Database (13.3.0) and the latest FM2013 Version (13.3.2) only. Later versions will not be supported until tested, however minor versions should work.

EEE **PLEASE READ & FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS**

1. Extract the .dbc file "v7.4 FMUpdates FM2013 EEE - England, Enhanced, Expanded" to the Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2013\editor data folder in your My Documents (PC) / Documents (MAC) folder. If there is no 'editor data' folder then please create one and copy the folder into it. Alternatively if you have changed the location of your game files (e.g. for backup purposes like using Dropbox) use the editor data folder in that directory instead.

2. Load FM2013 and Start A New Game.

3. In the dialog window that pops up, TICK the change box and load the Default 13.0.0 Database or the 13.3.0 Database.

4. Select the LATEST file (v7.4) in the list, if not already. Deselect ALL OLD VERSIONS!

5. Start a new game as normal, selecting either Level 7 (English Regional Premier Divisions) or Level 8 (English Regional First Divisions) as the lowest active league.

6. Select 'Add Key Staff' and 'Add Key Players to Active Teams'.

7. Ensure 'Use Real Fixtures When Available' is ticked if you would like real fixtures in your game.

This file is not save game compatible and requires a new game to be started.

You may experience issues because you are loading other editor .xml or .dbc files that are causing a conflict. If you are having problems then please:

1. Delete everything in the 'editor data' folder.

2. Download the latest v7.4 file

3. Extract the .dbc "v7.4 FMUpdates FM2013 EEE - England, Enhanced, Expanded" file to the 'editor data' folder

4. Start a new game as per the league activation instructions

Media Instructions

Thanks to daniellewis_789 for allowing us to include his excellent media update in our release, including an exclusive media update for the new competitions added as part of our league expansion.

FAQ

* Can you explain the English Non-league system?

The BBC Sport website has an excellent guide to how the English non-league system operates - LINK

This file includes levels 1 to 8 activated, which is down to step 4 in the English Non-League pyramid:

* Why is my team in the Northern Premier League, shouldn't they be in the Isthmian League?

One of the quirks of the English non league steps is how much change there is every season. This all depends on which teams are selected for promotion from Level 9 that may not easily fit into the regional geography of Levels 7 and 8. For Football Manager this is a problem as whilst rules have been set for each league and the vast majority of teams, unfortunately you can't programme common sense into the data editor. On the rare occasion you may find a team sorted into the wrong division, be rest assured that when the first opportunity arises to place them back into their correct division the game will sort them correctly.

* Why do I need to add All Key Staff?

I recommend you tick 'Add key staff'. That way all the staff you need, i.e. a physio and assistant manager will be generated for the clubs where there is not one set in the database.

* Are you planning on providing a data update for these teams so they have the correct players and staff etc?

This is not a player data update, no players have been added or their stats amended and I have no intention of adding this information.

* Why does the FA Cup go all the way down to the Extra Preliminary Round when only Level 8 is active?

The reason for this is simple - the first 3 rounds are drawn on the same day, so for the sake of added realism all rounds are included.

* When is the next release/update available?

This is something We cannot tell until it is ready. However the releases will be posted on FMUpdates first and shortly afterwards the SI Community. You may even be lucky and get the next version before it is announced by downloading the file.

* What is the rulebook?

The editor is limited in what match and competition rules can be input. As an example, clubs in Levels 7 and 8 are only permitted to give a player a contract, known as League Forms, for one playing season only.

We've reviewed the Isthmian, Southern and Northern League Handbooks and Rules and created a simple rule book for gamers to follow (if they wish) to help make playing these leagues more realistic. The Rulebook PDF is combined within the file download.

Each of those leagues has a dedicated Head Researcher, who will consider all posts for any future data updates. Also, if you are interested in helping with the research for your local level 7/8 club, please let the Head Researcher know via either Private Message or a post in those threads. The level of data is only as good as the amount of quality support the Head Researchers get, as you would appreciate how difficult it is to get good data for all 60-something teams in each of the three regional set-ups.

On behalf of SI research team, I welcome uncle ron's work as a great addition to the FM portfolio.

I'm just going to add a note here. uncle ron's contribution to FM has been immense over the last few years, including being Swindon Town researcher as well as this excellent edited database. His work is much appreciated, as is magicmastermind's efforts. Without such dedicated people, the game would not be what it is.

I would echo his plea for more people to get involved in researching. Levels 7 and 8 are mainly researched by three Head Researchers for the Isthmian, Southern and Northern Premier Leagues, and while they do a great job, there is only so much they can do via googling and club official sites. The HRs do watch football at those levels but of course cannot watch every team, and the geographical areas they cover are vast. Even if you feel that you cannot get involved enough to be a researcher at those levels, the HRs involved would welcome any contributions to data for any clubs and players at levels 7 and 8 on a one-off or occasional basis too.

Oh, and you can play FM with an infant asleep on your arm.

We would also like to add that Football Manager is not what it is without the help of all the scouts that spare their free time to research for the game. We implore all those who are in the position to help Sports Interactive make a great game even greater and check out the available Research Vacancies and applying if possible.

i've been working on an editted db since 0230 gmt but just cant get fa cup to work after rebuilding it to include all rounds keep getting top teams drawn in extra preliminary round and then every round where additional teams are added

so i wish you luck on getting extra FA Cup rounds to work just going to use mine with anything updated but the FA Cup which is a shame as i like to work my way through the leagues and cant play in early rounds and will only play if my team is random selected when second qualifying round is drawn

Just sayin, when making the new FA Cup with the advanced panels, just add only teams from level 1-8 in the competition. Don't add inactive level 9 and level 10 teams in the Extra Preliminary and Preliminary rounds. Start with level 8 teams. That explain why so many people have teams from Premiership playing in the Preliminary rounds from the 2nd season.

Make a FA Cup with 358 teams (20 Premiership, 24 Championship, 24 League One, 24 League Two, 24 Conference Premier, 44 Level 6, 66 Level 7, 132 Level 8).

It should look like this (this is taken from FM10 editor):

As you can see, with 358 teams there are 12 FA Cup Rounds (4 Preliminary and 8 Proper Rounds). And the round starting at the beggining of January will still be named 3rd Round using my method. Maybe you could include this simplified FA Cup in the version with FA County Cups disabled.

I NEVER had this problem in our last release. It happens on others though. No need to change anything.

I'm not sayin' that your database will have that problem. But what's the point of adding inactive Level 9 and Level 10 teams in the early Preliminary rounds of the FA Cup if the database only goes down to Level 8. I understand that you want to make it as accurately as possible but ditching the Extra Preliminary Round and the Preliminary Round and start with First Round Qualifying (when you add all Level 8 teams plus 32 Level 7 teams) is a great compromise.

Lastly the amount of extra work this year due to database change failures is very high and many files need to be recreated.

As for the FA Cup, this will include all rounds. The FA Trophy changes format next season and this will also be included, as is the case with v6.4 for FM12. There are no plans to dilute the content, only to improve.

Work is still ongoing. Many additions have been made and improved on the data side. There are two people helping with this and with fixtures which should in part make the original release. There is still much to work through and testing needed. Hope you guys can wait!

Also, a quick note: Grays Athletic are playing their home games this season on Rush Green Stadium from Havering (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grays_Athletic_FC). In the oficial SI database their stadium is still East Thurrock's Rookery Hill. I hope you'll make this change in your database as my Grays Athletic stadium picture from the pack is of Rush Green Stadium (West Ham United's reserve stadium).

Any idea if this is ready yet? My cousin has been raving about his Sheffield FC save from FM12 and i cant wait to start a save. I'm not sure if there is a link but i couldnt see it

Ideally it would be out already but due to the number of failed changes in the database much work has been and is still needed before an accurate estimate can be given. I am however hopeful that it will be at some point later this month.

This does not mean that the file is simply being fixed. Much more work is being done on this file than at any point last year, and it is likely that the initial release will see the County Cups included. I am also hoping to create the framework for further expansion of this database. You can all still expect the high quality release that has been in place since Uncle Ron first started working on this release.

Thank you all so much for being patient with us, once we have released the file you will realise that the wait has been worth it.

Still no estimates I am afraid, but once it's ready it will be out. I'd like that to be before the end of the year, but no guarantees. Work, uni and family come first!

I refer back to post #47, and I'll also add that while the file was released early last year, it did not have many of the elements it already has at this stage of the file until later.
