Struggling big time with a standard 4-4-2, got flogged 7-1 by Leicester, 4-2 by Birmingham and generally just ****. Collins has been minging, Cox can't hit a barn door and McGugan and the Algerian fella won't stop taking long shots.

12 games in and I'm 22nd, with 1 win 5 draws and 6 losses.

EDIT: Another loss, 2-0 at home to Hull. I'm gonna be sacked in no time. :(

drop collins to the bench, ayala and lascelles should be starting, drop guedioura to a deeper midfield position, play cox as a deep lying striker alongside sharp, should get 30 goals a season

That's pretty much the line-up I've been playing with and it's not working. :D

I've just completed season and finished 6th in the Premiership.

I really struggled at the start of the season and tried a more defensive tactic but I found in the end that the tactics that won the Championship were the best and it just took the players a bit longer to adjust.

Collins and Cox both playe OK for me. Some of the stats for the league are shown below.

It's quite interesting to see how different people change the squad.

Here's my list of the original players still in my squad.

Lee Camp - Just a backup keeper now

Dan Harding - Backup, seldom gets a game

Danny Collins - First choice for most of the year but beginning to decline - will be used to tutor younger players

Greg Halford - Seldom used but useful on the bench to cover two positions

Jamaal Lascelles - Ever present - has come on a treat in the two years

Guy Moussi - Used as a backup mainly

Chris Cohen - Has played very well in Premiership as DLP

Henri Landsbury - Used in rotation but being trained for AML where he'll probably be first choice

Adiene Guedioura - Rotation option and doesn't let you down

Simon Cox - Rotation option and leading scorer but a bit inconsistent

Im trying to find the right person to tutor Lascelles, I think ive found the right guy, hes got 18 Determination, and he's got a Determined personality, Plays short simple passes & marks players tightly. I'll post a screenie if I get him. And im not 100% sure if he is just on the latest patch but Adam Nkusu Landu looks a great player, anyone used him at all?

Decided against that, here's where I am up to:

fn5vdc.png

I turned down a few good looking freebie's due to stupidly high wage depends, and those said players are still without clubs now!

I think I've done well with transfers so far, might take a while for the team to get used to my tactics, but a promotion push would be nice this season

Can't sell a player though, I have 7 up for sale, and no one wants them :D

Wow nice you got cornelius! I only managed to sign him after i won promotion to the PL! With a strike force of Cox, Sharp, Le Fondre and Cornelius you're going to set the championship alight!

On another note, you paid way too much for strandberg, I usually buy him for ~500k! Have you taken a look at Masilela? He's PL quality and "cheap" (around 1m). With him, strandberg, lascelles, cornelius, cohen, lansbury and eardley at the end of the season for free, you get a very good backbone for the PL ;)

im currently in my 5th season on my Forest save, got my first decent regen through from the academy: http://i.imgur.com/0yIy5Kf.jpg got my best MC ( Henri Lansbury! ) onto tutoring him straight away and that has just finished succesfully, most of his attribute increasing by 2 points in 7 months!

my current team is:

GK: Francesco Bardi, just signed from Inter for 10.5 mil after being transfer listed, had him on loan in season 2, he replaces Vicente Guaita, who i signed for 5 million 6 months ago, but sold for a 2 million profit, Guaita was going to be a long term keeper, but Bardi was too good to pass up: http://i.imgur.com/FuRyDCH.jpg

DR: Kyle Naughton, signed as backup to Seamus Coleman ( Coleman was signed in January season 1 ) in season 3 but became 1st choice and Coleman was subsequently sold for a small profit: http://i.imgur.com/4lmMjMH.jpg

DC: Jamaal Lascelles, is my Captain, I loaned him out season 1, but i probably should have kept him because my defence was awful! since then hes been first choice and played brilliantly!: http://i.imgur.com/uQV69py.jpg

DC: Jeffrey Bruma was inititally signed on loan as cover in season 2 and was going to be on then bench behind my other defensive signing, Ryan Bennett, however Bruma got a chance to impress and played too well to drop, Bennett was sold this season for a 3.1 million profit.: http://i.imgur.com/OIsu5iA.jpg

DL: Adam Smith, signed from Spurs for under a million, is now an England international : http://i.imgur.com/jgbskvj.jpg

DMC: Jose Maria Iubatti ( REGEN ) signed for 4 million from River Plate, he replaced Andreu Fontas ( who was signed for 2.1 mil after being listed by Barca in Jan season 2, he replaced Chris Cohen ) and last season made the most tackles per game and had the 4th best Pass Completion % in the entire league: http://i.imgur.com/ywSS52Q.jpg

MC: Henri Lansbury, the only player to have been in my squad from the start and to have been starting every season ( as Lascelles was loaned out season 1 ), always plays well and keeps the team ticking, the regen to replace him has already been signed, but Henri should be the starter for another season or 2: http://i.imgur.com/9P1zjuO.jpg

AMR: Nathan Redmond, signed for 5 million in Season 1, pacy winger who plays very well: http://i.imgur.com/k8uyzCm.jpg

AML: Karim Ait Fana, signed for under 2 million in season 1, plays more as an inside forward, is probably the weakest part of my team: http://i.imgur.com/7ouMl6J.jpg

STCR: Robin van Persie, I had him on loan last season, United released him this summer and noone was picking him up, he was initially asking for 170k a week, but this kept dropping and i picked him up for 1 season on just 29.5k :) is a great tutor for my younger strikers ( i have about 3 high potential strikers in my reserves who will benefit from him! ), hes a bit injury prone unfortunately, but still scored a goal every other game in his 24 games last season: http://i.imgur.com/BmfpjWk.jpg

STCL: Walter Fanelli ( REGEN ), signed for 16 million from AC Milan in Season 3, this guy is a stud, my star, struggled a bit to start off with, but bagged 25 goals last season and just keeps on progressing, hes my set piece taker, getting plenty of assists from corners and scores a mean Free kickhttp://i.imgur.com/Fmyl8Nm.jpg

Since my latest update, i finished 6th in the league in Season 4 and am now competing in the Europa League, hopefully my youth academy will be increased to a cat 1 academy in a month or two and then increase my youth recruitment network

lost 2-0 to Barca in the European Super Cup, managed to massively strengthen my squad though, got 30 mil to spend, signed Isco on a free transfer after he was released by Chelsea and Iker Munian from Athletic after they got relegated from La Liga  van Persie was a bust this season, but he wasnt on much wages so it wasnt that big a deal, Simon Cox and Karim Ait Fana were sold whilst i could get some decent money for them, got about 12.5 million for the two, have regens coming through to replace them both.

Munian will play as a deep lying forward alongside fanelli and i will try isco out on the left as an Inside Forward, he may have to take an advanced Playmaker role in the middle, will see how it goes.

been a bit unlucky with injuries this season, had Fanelli and Iubatti both go down with torn hamstrings, as well as 3 other players, including Iubattis backup ( 5 torn hamstrings and no other major injuries, so far, is a bit weird in one season :D ), so the season hasnt gone quite as planned, Muniain has been a bit disapointing goalscoring wise, and seeing as hes by far my top earner, i may sell him in the summer., its currently march and im still in the Europa League and the FA cup, am 5th in the league and not far off 4th, Champs league should be the aim this season

ended up winning both the Europa League ( again! ) and the FA Cup ( which i won 5-2 after going 2-0 down in the first half and having my left back sent off! ) but finished 5th so missed on the CL ( though i would have missed out anyway, as Chelsea beat me to 4th place and won the CL too, so would have got the 4th spot regardless :D Munian stepped up in the end of the season, so will give him another season

Decided to start a save as Forest, the budget is fairly attractive and a club with potential. On update 13.3.3.

Went for Title Challenge as my expectation, giving me a juicy budget of £7.5m(?). Made quite a change to the squad-

Ins:

Strandberg (1.4m), Svensson (700k), Mattheus (925k), Masilela (800k), Gonzalo Colsa (Free), Drage (1.2m), Kozak (3m), Amos (loan 8k pm), Mackie (loan 35k pm), and Eikrem (3m).

Total: 11m

Outs:

Majewski (2m), Blackstock (825k), Greening (100k), Moussi (100k), Gillet (loan 12k pm). Loaned out a couple of youngsters, and McGugan's contracted was mutually terminated eventually, as he's too far down the pecking order to get a nod in.

You could say I have too many midfielders, but this paid off in the end- Drage broken leg out for season, Cohen and Svensson eventually picked up long term injuries too!

Half-way through the season I'm doing very well..

f0b81y.jpg

The City Ground is some form of fortress, I'm still unbeaten there, and have only conceded 5 times at home (Infact didn't concede at home until mid November).

Cox is banging in the goals and has 18 in 23 appearances. Mattheus and Kozak have the top two assists tallys in the league, would highly recommend Kozak from Lazio (if he hasn't been mentioned). I use him as a target man, but his high teamwork and work rate stats means he puts in a huge shift and makes a lot of assists for any poacher looking to feed off him (Cox). Kozak also has 12 league goals to his name, contributing quite a bit to the side. The only downside is he gets booked often, and when he's suspended I find it difficult to pick a winning formula.

I normally pick one of these followings sides (when full strength):

(4-1-2-1-2) Amos

Halford Collins Ayala Masilela

Strandberg

Cohen Drage

Mattheus

Cox Kozak

Or...

(4-2-2 flat) Amos

Halford Strandberg Ayala Masilela

Mackie Cohen Eikrem/Drage Mattheus

Cox Kozak

Right, the first thing from the previous season that came to light were the questions, such as 'Now you've achieved everything, will you stay?'

Well, I've thought it over, and I've decided, that in the 7 and a half years I've spent at Forest, I've not won enough yet..

tLIWhCT.jpg

I want to experience international management at some point, but I feel that I've just built the first 'dynasty' of my career, and I'm looking at building at least one more, which will be seen in the coming posts.

As with every transfer window, there are things that come out of left field, so to speak, and the offer from Manchester United to purchase my midfielder, Branko Brajkovic for £30m was a surprise, but one I could work with.

I'd paid £650000 for the Croatian youngster back in 2013 after my promotion to the Premier League, and as part of the deal with HNK Rijeka, they were promised 25% of any profit on the deal. So, for me to break the £30m profit mark, I'd have to work the price up.

A revised offer of £45m was sent back, and after being accepted, Brajkovic signed the deal which took him to Old Trafford, and also saw his former club back in Northern Croatia receive an £11.75m windfall.

o24z8eW.jpg

From the £30m plus that was received from the deal after paying Rijeka what was owed, the idea was to set about replacing Brajkovic.

I had 2 options to chose from, first was in the centre of midfield, where Brajkovic had provided a solid platform for our attacks to build, and looking through my list of players that the club had been scouting, I noticed that Newcastle midfielder, Sergi Samper was on the transfer list, and wanting a move away from St. James Park.

He wasn't going to be cheap, as he'd just become a regular in the Spanish national side, and the product of the Barcelona La Masia setup was a far better creative talent than the departed Croat.

An offer of £25m was made, which satisfied the management in the North East of England, and the 25 year old Spaniard was offered a contract whilst he was preparing for his national sides appearance in Euro 2020 in Turkey, this was accepted, and he will move to NG2 after the tournament.

uBlCOf8.jpg

Whilst the £200k p/w offered may seem excessive, for what he offers to the club both in a playmaking provision, and his Continental match experience, he'll be an integral part of the team in the centre of midfield for years to come.

The second target was a young Dutch winger, whose fortunes I'd been following for some seasons, since he came through the Ajax Academy, and had spent some time on loan at Liverpool in 2018.

I'd approached the Dutch side about a deal for him, with an idea of offering about £10m for him, which is what my several scouting missions had said would be a fee that would be acceptable. This was accepted without any haste, and an offer was made shortly before his loan deal at Montpellier in the French Ligue 2 came to an end.

bA2xlvv.jpg

He would be a project for the future, as well as sharing a large amount of time on the right hand side of midfield with Marco Hulshoff, who had come through the Jong Ajax a couple of years previously.

As with everything, I'd still be looking to largely develop my own youngsters through the Nigel Doughty Academy, and that saw Jeremy Hargreaves come in from Sheffield Wednesday, the 16 year old being picked out as a potential star on a scouting mission in April. A pre arranged deal for Brazilian winger Marcelo from Atletico Mineiro saw the 18 year old Brazilian come in, and then leave the club on a loan deal to Port Vale, so that he could get match time and experience at a level where the game was likely to be far more physical.

The only other incoming transfer dealing was Gary Park being picked up by my Head of Youth Development, Romeo Jozak, who believed that the young defender has something to offer.

Below is a list of the incoming and outgoing transfer dealings, with, as happens every season, several players departing on loan to gain match experience.

I'll post an update after a few months of the season.

he is simply has no intention of joining, i can't even negotiate with him. lol. forest is club too "low" for him..

Craig Gordon is a joke. I attempted to sign him on good money, as a Key Player, he turned me down, went to Oldham on about £300pw and retired about a month later.

On the latest patch, after a couple of hours of playing as Forest, I got fed up with being unable to sign a good keeper, right winger, left back and defensive midfielder. I think maybe I set my sights too high and by the time I'd sorted my backroom staff, I only managed to bring a couple of players in, one of those was a LW which was incredibly stupid because that meant I'd have to play with wingers now & still had no natural RW!

It screwed up my Forest save so I started a game with Mansfield where there's more room for maneuvering in the transfer market because almost all players are free. I'm enjoying that save for now, I've won back to back promotions to League One & only spent £26k on players so far. It looks like financial difficulties in coming seasons though. You start with £2m in the bank, but once you've upgraded youth & training, that's down to £1.3m & the club is running at such a loss that two seasons in, there's almost nothing left in the bank even after I got to sixth round of FA Cup before getting spanked by Man City. The board simply doesn't know how to budget & I'll be ****ed if I'm getting a calculator out to actually work out what my wage budget should be so that I'm not losing money. I'll just sit & hope for a rich Kuwaiti takeover lol

Just finished the 18/19 season of my forest save, here is what my trophy cabinet looks like: http://i.imgur.com/GQqqOL2.jpg ( thats right, 3 europa league wins in a row :D ) had a breakthrough this season, finishing 3rd and qualifying for the Champions League, this is my current starting XI ( and some of the squad players ), I play in a 4-1-1-2-2 formation, using a flat back 4 with one limited centre back and 1 ball playing defender, there is an anchorman in front of them, an advanced playmaker at CM, an Inside Forward at LW, a regular winger at RW and an advanced forward and a deep lying forward up front:

GK: Francesco Bardi, i signed him on loan in season 2 and finally signed him permanently in the summer of 2016: http://i.imgur.com/Tyi6mKo.jpg

DR: Caio, made his debut this season and after a bit of intensive training on his quickness ( he was 10/10 for each a couple of seasons ago when i agreed to sign him ), seems to have a lot of potential: http://i.imgur.com/3GDllqh.jpg

DC: Jamaal Lascelles, I must have lucked out with his potential, my coaches say hes not got much room left to develop, but hes my captain and has led the club to glory!: http://i.imgur.com/6KIFjdJ.jpg

DC: Tom Peeters, I sold Jeffrey Bruma last summer who had been getting exceptional AVR and signed this guy to replace him, he is amazing :D : http://i.imgur.com/jI923OX.jpg

DL: Martin Schwarz, decent regen i signed a few years ago, hes progressed steadily, but slowly, might need replacing: http://i.imgur.com/yMGl3Cp.jpg

DMCL: Jose Maria Iubatti, I love this guy, gets great ratings, only downside is that he has the Argues with Officials PPM! : http://i.imgur.com/9EUU5LI.jpg

MCR: Koldo Gomez, signed from Bilbaos academy, he has replaced Lansbuty ( who is still in my squad ) and is a very important cog in my team: http://i.imgur.com/rgwRf8n.jpg

AMR: Nathan Redmond, with Lansbury not 1st choice anymore, hes the last player in my 1st XI left from my 1st season ( Lascelles having gone out on loan that season ): http://i.imgur.com/qLCB1f4.jpg

AML: This is the position i have most difficulty deciding on a 1st choice for, its a toss up between Nelson Saavedra ( http://i.imgur.com/T89FFL0.jpg ) and Isco ( http://i.imgur.com/2dJJIwi.jpg ) Saavedra is probably the better player but is more of a pure winger and doesnt suit the Inside Forward role i have for that position like Isco does, i also like the fact I signed Isco on a free transfer :D

STRC: Walter Fanelli, this is THE guy, he is Mr Nottingham Forest in this save, just look at these stats, 60 goals ( 41 in the league ) in 59 starts, 36 assists, 16 motm, 7.95 avr, I love him, hes broken the all time record for league goals scored in a season held by Wally Ardron since the 1950's, hes already scored over 100 goals for the club and just signed a new 5 year contract, he was signed for 16 million and it was the bargain of the century, I love him :)http://i.imgur.com/cdFNDjH.jpg

STRL: Nico Matera, signed on a free transfer from inter this summer ( wtf they released him i dont know ) i initially planned on retraining him to be a right winger, but then decided he was too good a striker to leave him there, considering he was only a striker for half the season, hes scored an impressive amount of goals imo: http://i.imgur.com/LURuORY.jpg

The Best reserves:

Pierluigi Corti, right winger: http://i.imgur.com/uxkCPd7.jpg

Christopher Henry, Striker: http://i.imgur.com/pb9sRCm.jpg

Javier Gomez, Goalkeeper: http://i.imgur.com/ONjRAhk.jpg

Leonardo Gomez, DMC: http://i.imgur.com/oOFMtEZ.jpg

Adam Smith, Full Back: http://i.imgur.com/XDP2Rl7.jpg

Bennie van der Veen, Striker: http://i.imgur.com/62aHj0T.jpg

That Fanelli looks an absolute beast.

he is, im into the next season, Matera, Lascelles, Isco, Saavedra, Caio and van der Veen have all gone down with 1-3 month injuries and basically him and Bardi are keeping me in everything, Bardi has saved about 4 penalties and Fanelli has 11 goals in 7 starts, he dragged me to a win over Bayern Munich in the CL groups :D

So..

December 31st 2020, a few months after the last update, which saw us begin to exert our force across several competitions, picking up victories in the Community Shield, Super Cup and also make a good start in the Champions League.

However, we'd also lost Eric Molina, to a broken ankle, and his return was scheduled for late November, so with his return, we could ease the pressure on Sergi Samper and the rest of the overworked Forest midfield.

This is the way the league looked at the end of December, with the 'usual' suspects of the last few years lining up.

YASO6hQ.jpg

The stats of players and teams..

nF4jZFu.jpg

And, of course, the results from the last couple of months.

Manager stats

As can be seen, we were also successful in our defence of the Club World Cup. We had to go to Extra Time to triumph in this, as Vasco played a very defensive 4-2-3-1 formation, which took a long time to break down, and it took an effort from German international Eric Kessel to break through.
