FM13 Arsenal Thread - Victoria Concordia Crescit

Recommended Posts

Man those performance levels from Nasa are mind blowing! Visnicus looks damn good too.

I am nearing the end of my first preseason and am just trying to finalize me dealings.

I am playing the normal 4-2-3-1 currently but also have a 4-1-2-1-2 formation that will probably become my main one. In this one the two strikers are actually starting in the wide striker spot FCR and FCL right out wide to open space for the AMC. As such I am looking for one more player to play in this spot. I currently have Walcott and Podolski to play there as well as Gerard Deulofeu developing but as more of a playmaker.

I have been looking at Marco Reus and Andre Schurrle but am aware of the hefty price tags. Bernard is listed, but they are asking 27m which I am hesitant to fork out for. Does anyone have any other recommendations? Basically it needs to be someone who will comfortable out wide there, but have the finishing ability of a striker. Kind of the perfect role for Walcott I guess. I would like a two footed or left footed player if possible too.

Well season 2 was one of ups and downs.

League Cup ended terribly. Was 4-0 up in the final, and then lost 6-4 :(

Knocked out by Spurs in the FA Cup semi as well. Then our luck turned.

We pipped Spurs to 4th in the League on the last day.

Why not try and sign Stevan Jovetic?

Either of these based on form, injuries and opposition.

Managed a 1-0 win thanks to an early Theo Walcott goal.

Benzema got sent off for them in the 55th minute and I could of had 2 or 3 really.

2033 season started off awful, was 12th after 10 games, under mager pressure to turn things around, and a takeover of the club didn't help things, however my team managed to turn things around and with a handful of games left, are playing league leaders Chelsea who we are 3 points behind but have 2 games in hand and a superior gd. Won the league cup with my reserve team  And drawn Atletico who beat me in the final 2 years ago in the quarter final leg.

edit: spoke to soon, drew with Chelsea, still have 2 games in hand

Season 12/13

I bought my football manager game in October.Loaded it and started playing. Got to the end of pre-season before my computer crashed meaning i lost my game. I then had to wait to buy a new computer which i did before getting past the first few days before it crashed again.

So finally after this debacle I found time to start again. Managing this time to make it to August and hopefully beyond.

TRANSFERS

Joining the club for the new season the first thing I wanted to do was clear out the dead wood. Chamackh, Denilson ect...were all put up for sale but with no offers. Staff wise i really struggled to get the men i wanted. Due to blowing a large amount on one player money is pretty tight on transfers and wages. I found it a lot more difficult to buy players. In FM12 i bought 8 players and usually buy a glut of young British players but this time couldn't find anything.

Without a clear view of my side it was hard to decide who to buy. I looked at all outcomes but felt that the two key areas were AML and a world class striker. I made lots of inquiries but in the end only got the one i wanted. With Sagna injured for the first couple of months i brought in Di'Sciglio on loan

IN

Robert Lewandowski - 28 Million

Ricardo Kishna - 4.3 Million

Pol Balleste - 1.1 million

Matia Di'Sciglio - Loan

OUT

Andrey Arshavin - 3.8 million

Francis Coquelin - 3.2 Million

Sebastien Squillaci - 500k

Craig Eastomond - Loan

Thomas Eisfield

Isaac Hayden

Samir Bihmoutine

Serge Gnabry

Jernade Meade

Vito Mannone

Martin Angha

Benik Afobe

PRE-SEASON

I opted for France to spend pre-season's training camp. It didn't seem particularly fruitful though. I'm not sure what happened but our form wasn't what i was hoping or expecting especially given the sides we were playing. The game at Nantes was an absolute shocker.

BARNET 0-3 ARSENAL - Giroud Walcott Gervinho

CORK CITY 3-5 ARSENAL - Giroud Gnabry Podolski(3)

NANTES 3-0 ARSENAL

VANNES OC 1-1 ARSENAL - Watt

STADE LAVALLOIS 3-2 ARSENAL - Podolski Gervinho

CELTIC 2-1 ARSENAL - Giroud

ARSENAL 4-3 ATLETICO MADRID- Lewandowski 2 Walcott Giroud

SQUAD

GK - SZCZESNY - FABIASNKI

DL - GIBBS - MONREAL

DR - SAGNA - DI'SCIGLIO - JENKINSON

DC - VERMAELEN

DC - KOSCIELNY - MERTERSACKER

AML - GERVINHO - KISHNA

AMR - CHAMBERLAIN

MC - CAZORLA - RAMSEY - ROSICKY

MC - WILSHERE - ARTETA - DIABY

S - LEWANDOWSKI - GIROUD

S - WALCOTT - PODOLSKI

So with an awful pre-season behind us it was time to get down to business. A kind start from the fixture list

AUGUST

ARSENAL 4-0 NORWICH CITY - Giroud 5 45 54 Chamberlain 70

An emphatic start. We had suffered a major blow before the game with Wojciech Szczesny ruled out. With Fabiaski also injured and Mannone on loan it meant a debut for youngster Pol Balleste. I opted for Giroud and Walcott as the front pairing giving Lewandowski a bit more time to adjust after just arriving. I've penciled in his first start against Chelsea in a couple of games time. Giroud repaid me with a fantastic hat-trick which left a good taste in my mouth and an exciting taster of what could be to come from him.

SUNDERLAND 1-5 ARSENAL Mclean 15 - Walcott 40 Chamberlain 45 Lewandowski 66 Ramsey 80 Podolski 90

We followed up the win against Norwich with another excellent display at Sunderland. I only made the single change with Szczesny coming back into the team. MClean gave Sunderland a surprise lead but after that it was one way traffic. Giroud had a very poor first half but improved in the second before being replaced by Lewandowski who scored just a minute after coming on.

Other News

Premier League

Not too many surprises in the opening couple of matches. Man United and Tottenham have 100% records while Chelsea and Man City have 4 after both were held by Stoke in 1-1 draws. West Ham are the only other team apart from Sunderland to still have 0.

Community Shield

A brace from Tevez gave City a 2-0 win at Wembley vs Chelsea.

Euro Super Cup

A Mata brace gave Chelsea the win over Atletico in Monaco

Transfers

Man City spent 36million on Thomas Muller and also signed Sandro and Kaka. Chelsea only made one significant signing in the form of Adrian. United brought in Alaba and Cabaye. Tottenham signed Fellaini while keeping hold of Bale. Liverpool made no signings whatsover and Everton wasted 5 million on Jake Livermore.

Don't touch any of the sliders. I see you are playing attacking and your defensive line is only on normal. Have you altered it? If not, i'm mistaken, but it should be pushed up as you will be closing down but staying at a normal line and there will be a lot of space in between.

What roles are you using too? Too much creative freedom added with too many specialist roles usually doesn't work and it might result in no-one listening to your actual tactic and doing what they want.

When I play 4-2-3-1 the two cm's are DLP's one support the other defend then the left sided player is an inside forward right sided is Winger and the one in the middle is an advanced playmaker, if its a 4-4-2 the wide players are the same but one CM is a DLP while the other is a AP

I did try to keep my defensive line on press more but it didn't seem to work either that or I didn't give it much time to

Whats the striker's role? Because two DLP's and an AP is 3 specialist roles add on top you're set to fluid those 3 I doubt will be following your instructions as their creative freedom will be near enough full.

I would take your philosophy down to at least balanced if not rigid if your striker is a specialist role as well (target man etc.)

I know rigid doesn't sound like Arsenal but it doesn't mean very rigid is Stoke and Very Fluid is Barcelona. I would argue that it could possibly be the other way around as Barcelona have a lot of specialist players (Xavi - DLP) and (Iniesta - AP) and Stoke have more generic basic players that are just simple roles.

You need one of them on support to offer some sort of interplay between the midfield and strikers especially as you don't have an AMC. Put a deep lying forward in (Giroud did brilliantly for me at that) and Theo as advanced. Should work a lot lot better.

Don't alter any of the sliders, let the tactics creator set them for you as you pick roles and instructions. It makes your tactic dis-jointed as they are the recommended settings.

I would leave that unticked as well and use shouts of exploit the middle or exploit the flanks on a game by game basis.

If for example you tick it and put mixed and you're playing a 4-1-2-1-2 diamond and you use the shout exploit the flanks to take advantage of their narrow style then it won't take effect because you have over rid the instruction by ticking it.

I have just bought FM13 and started as The Gooners, Things are going well so I thought post what I've done.

Start of Season

Outs:

Arshavin £4.2m QPR

Squillaci £750k Fulham.

Ins:

Adam Henley £3.7m Blackburn

Douglas Costa £8.5m Shakhtar

Wanyama £9.5m Celtic

Kolo Toure on Loan

I was given £21.5m so pretty much did my lot inc agents fee's etc.

I primarily used a 4-2-3-1 tactic but now use 4-1-2-2-1 and haven't looked back.

Its now March and we're 3rd, 3 points off Man City and 5 point off Man Utd. I was given £30+ mil in Jan to strengthen but only spent on Paolo Dybala (spelling) from Palermo (scouts found him and he looks interesting) and Mason Bennett from Derby.

I normally prefer to build youth but I'm struggling a but as i'm having to offer £8m+ for a 17 year old who's value is £400k (Luke Shaw btw and he's still not signed grrr) Does anyone find this a little too far fetched when I could just buy Baines for about £10m?

Anyway sorry it's not as polished as the other updates but I just thought i'd share my own experience. I will say that it after 2 years of not playing FM, i'm thriving under the lack of sleep and increased blood pressure!

SEPTEMBER 2012 UPDATE

After 6 points from the first two simple games September would see us start the champions league and also play a couple of the big boys.

PREMIER LEAGUE

ARSENAL 2-1 EVERTON - Walcott 30 Chamberlain 45 - Neville 81

The month started with a good solid win at the Emirates against Everton. Walcott and Chamberlain gave us a 2-0 lead before Neville pulled one back with Everton's only shot on target. I gave Lewandowski his first start but he was pretty lukewarm and was substituted for Giroud.

The big blow was Walcott going off injured meaning he would be out for 6 weeks. Stamford Bridge next.

PREMIER LEAGUE

CHELSEA 0-0 ARSENAL

I targeted 7 points from the opening 3 matches but having scored 9 I knew a point would be enough and that's what we got in a pretty dire game. Lewandowski hit the post and Chamberlain was a hairs breath from scoring for the fourth consecutive game. Another injury blow though with Ramsey out for 4 weeks. Injuries piling up.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP STAGE MATCH DAY 1

ARSENAL 2-1 FC BASLE - Giroud 3 Cazorla 22 - Vanetti 40

The champions League kicked off with a gentle opener against Basle. Again like the Everton game we weren't flattered by the scoreline. But after Giroud and Cazorla gave us a 2-0 lead after 22 minutes we never looked in danger despite Vanetti pulling a goal back. Despicably having to play Wigan in the League Cup on the Thursday just two days after this game I had to make early changes to prepare for that game.

other game - Feyenoord 0-1 Valencia

LEAGUE CUP 3RD ROUND

WIGAN 0-0 ARSENAL

Arsenal win 4-3 on penalties

So two days after playing in a champions League tie we traveled to Wigan to play out 3rd round game a week before anyone else. Due to the circumstances and against type I played a strong side with most of the first teamers involved. The game could've gone either way but Fabianski was the hero as we sneaked home on Penalties with Gibbs tucking home the final kick. Podolski the only man in a red shirt to miss. (typical of my luck that the german misses the pen!)

Watson Podolski

Espinoza Giroud

Gomez Lewandowski

Di Santo Gibbs

PREMIER LEAGUE

ASTON VILLA 0-1 ARSENAL - Koscielny 14

Out of the George Graham era. Koscielny headed in from an Arteta corner and after that we were nailed on for the three points. Villa never looked like scoring as the outstanding pairing of Vermaelen and man of the match Kosicelny nullified Benteke and Bent.

PREMIER LEAGUE

ARSENAL 3-1 MANCHESTER CITY - Giroud 4 67 Gervinho 87 - Aguero 9

The final game of the month saw us host City in a top of the table clash. Giroud gave us a perfect start after just four minutes and we continued to create chances until with City's first venture forward Aguero equalised. We controlled the game and with 65 minutes on the clock i was tempted to take giroud off but instead kept him on and he scored. Gervinho added a wonderful third late on for a first win against a top 4 side.

May remember me from the other day complaining about how my tactics dont work well I seemed to have found one that works quite well finished the season 9th which is poor but decent considering where I was, my initial budget for the 2013/14 season sadly is only 11mil but I hope I'll be able to change that with expectations and selling the likes of Chamakh, Bendtner etc. I dont think I need that much change as I really did underachieve maybe 2-3 quality players. Hoping for a better season next time

Just completed the preseason of 2014/15 season that was characterized by a high turnover of playing staff.

After what I deemed to be a successful campaign with a 3rd place finish for the second season in a row and picking up the FA Cup aswell, I felt this had to be the season we went to the next level and challenged the Manchester Clubs for the top spot. However, a number of first team players left the club in this window for attractive fees. First to go was Per Metersacker, who departed much to the dismay of the fans and I'm sure many in this thread to Chelsea for £15.25m. Secondly, Eugene Konoplyanka who hadn't shown anything on the pitch since his bosman move from Dnipro in January, left for Monaco for a tidy £15.5m after a dreadful 6 months with the club.

Furthermore, deals were arranged so that when the Spanish transfer window opened our own Spainish duo of Arteta and Monreal returned to their native land. Arteta chose Sevilla as his chosen destination upon which we received £10m for his services. Secondly, Monreal was sold to Athletic Bilbao for a hugely inflated fee of £21.5m, which I was very happy with and chose to invest in a younger Spanish left-back. The final big departures were Pablo Zabaleta who Jose Mourinho purchased for a nice £20m to begin his reign as Manchester United boss. Finally, after a breakdown of relationship, after trying very hard to flog, Podolski joined Inter Milan on loan. Other departures included numerous failed youngster, Fabianski and Mannone for free and Chamakh and Park for a combined £8.2m from West Ham and Napoli

To soften to blow of these important players leaving a number of players were purchased. Andrea Bertolacci arrived from Italy for 140k, the 23 year old central midfielder will mainly provide cover. Another player arrived from Italy soon after, Mattia Perin, the young Italian keeper was available for free and we needed cover for Sczezsney and is young enough to also provide competition down the line. The 34 year old Croatian Olic arrived for free, ready to fill any tutoring duties. In addition, Jose Angel from Roma joined for £3.8m to replace the outgoing Monreal.

Following this, our big arrival of the summer arrived in the form of Javier Hernandez for £14m from Real Madrid, where he struggled to start and scored only twice. He will provide strong competition for Giroud, who we missed towards the end of last season due to injury. Hernandez hopefully will lift to goal scoring burden off Giroud. Promising Danish striker Fischer arrived from Ajax for £6.25m who will compete with Paloschi and Akpom for the role as the future striker for the club. Lars Stindl, the defensive right winger arrived from Hannover for £12.5m, who I promptly put on training for the right back position. Finally, Spanish goalkeeper Guaita was bought for £4.6m and will be rotated with Sczezsney who has already appeared error prone this season.

Total Player Sales Income: £91m

Total Player Expenditure: £41.5m

A very nice £50m profit made. :)

The other big clubs were all also very busy during the window. Luciano Spalletti in addition to Mertersacker, also signed Yann M'Vila for £20m from Rubin, Sokratis Papastathopoulos for £10m, Lee-Chung-Yong and Gael Clichy joined the Italians Chelsea side, who despite losing Azpilicueta look like title contenders. Bielsa's Liverpool signed Gaston Ramirez for £12.5m also with Michael Dawson, Altidore and Simon Kjaer. Meanwhile, Spurs strengthened strongly also with the signings of Coentrao, Shaqirir, Badelj, Adam Johnson and Johnny Evans. In contrast, both Manchester clubs were relatively inactive with both clubs both only making a single £20m+ buy each. Obviously, Zabaleta was united's, but City's was Di Maria for £37.5m.

The 3 matches played so far has provided 7 points, with a draw to Wolves and wins against Blackburn and Sunderland.

So i've decided to put my Southampton save on hold to start as Arsenal for a while. Using my 3-5-2-0 formation, or in this case a 3-5-1-1 with Giroud as a defensive/deep lying forward. Signed in some decent players to pad out the wide areas, Gino Peruzzi and Luke Shaw with Leon Goretzka, Morgan Schneiderlin, Will Hughes Sean Murray and Neal Maupay also joining to build my squad.

What I have noticed is that, true to real life, Koscielny loves giving away a penalty and panics under pressure, has anyone managed to calm him down? Arteta also seems to love picking up an injury or two at times.

Good start to the season with league wins over Stoke (h) 2-0 Kos gave away a penalty that was missed, Reading (a) 3-1 Kos gave away a penalty, Swansea (h) 4-0, West Brom (a) 3-1 and a draw at Sunderland 1-1. Champs league has seen me drawn with PSG, Dortmund and Zenit. First game, PSG (h) ended 3-0 with Kos giving away a pen that was saved

I've had this game since release, and I've yet to start and Arsenal save. Shocking, I know.

Anyway I've just finished pre-season 2012/2013 and here's how it went..

Transfers in:

Ruben Duarte - £2.3M from Espanyol

James Tomkins - £4.5M from West Ham

Manuel Fernandes - £16M from Besiktas

Ryan Gauld - £525K from Dundee

I wanted a holding player who wouldn't cost the earth, my first choice Radja Nainggolan was injured so he wasn't available, so I went after Manuel Fernandes who should suffice. He came in for £16M + add ons which could total £19M. I bought Tomkins in has he's been good in the past for me, he's homegrown and fairly young. Duarte is a young centre back with a lot of promise for the future.

Transfers out:

Craig Eastmond - Bristol City (loan)

Sebastian Squillaci - Fulham £900K

Josh Rees - Aldershot (loan)

Ruben Duarte - Preston (loan)

Nico Yennaris - Doncaster (loan)

Kyle Ebeclilio - Walsall (loan)

Isaac Hayden - Luton (loan)

Hector Bellerin - Torquay (loan)

Martin Angha - Torquay (loan)

Conor Henderson - Bradford (loan)

Ryan Guald - Sheffield United (loan)

Pre Season Friendlies:

Toronto FC 0-5 Arsenal (Cazorla 8, Arteta P15,18, Giroud 35,47)

- We absolutely dominated them, limiting them to one long range effort all game. Arteta ran the show, scored a screamer and tucked away a penalty too. Giroud did well up front on his own and dominated in the air. Cazorla tucked home from close range after so neat build up play.

Bohemians 1905 0-5 Arsenal (Diaby 20, Arteta 23, Vermaelen 30, Giroud 42, Walcott 64)

- Another belter and another game where Arteta was man of the match. A stunning display and another goal. Diaby also had a magnificent game. Giroud again did well up top and Theo came on to bag a late goal.

Stade Rennais FC 1-5 Arsenal (Montano 83 - Arteta 25, Koscielny 37, Walcott 43,69, Podolski 76)

- Disappointed we didn't keep a clean sheet but another five goals against decent opposition is pleasing. I moved Walcott a bit deeper and had him run at the opposition whilst Giroud held up the play and it worked out well, Theo had them running scared all afternoon. Arteta once more impressive and Podolski came off the bench to file home.

Montreal Impact 2-4 Arsenal ( Romero 18, Wagenaar 56 - Giroud 3,43, Mertesacker 81, 89)

- We didn't play as well as we could have here, we took an early lead through Giroud but Montreal soon hit back thanks to sloppy play in midfield. Giroud put us ahead again just before the break but again Montreal hit back. It was a scrappy game but Mertesacker scored from a free kick on 81 and sealed the win from a corner on 89.

Arsenal 2-2 Roma (Podolski 40, Coquelin 58 - Pjanic 53, Totti 77)

-We just couldn't finish them off, we had a lot of chances but couldn't find the net. We went into the lead just before the break thanks to a quick break and a curling effort from Podolski. Pjanic who was majestic all game waltzed through our defence to slide past Chesney. Coquelin put us back infront from the edge of the box but Totti put Roma back level with a fine finish late on. Fernandes also made his debut here.

Overall I'm quite happy, but we have some areas we can improve in.

So the season is finally underway, can we get off to a good start?

August / September update.

[Premier League 20/08/12] Arsenal 1 - 1 West Ham.

Ramsey 88 - Nolan 90

Wasn't the best of games, few chances and sloppy. We took the lead in the 88th minute through Ramsey, and thought we have snatched the winner. West Ham came back at us and Nolan smashed in Jarvis' cross on the volley. Probably a fair result

[Premier League 25/08/12] Norwich 0 - 4 Arsenal.

Arteta (pen) 29, Walcott 52,81, Ramsey 66

We got off to a slow start but imposed ourselves more as the game went on. Turner bought down Theo in the box on the half hour mark, then Arteta slammed home the penalty. After the break we put Norwich under real pressure and they cracked when Theo stormed into the box from the right and curled around Ruddy. Ramsey stole in to poke home just after the hour mark and Theo finished the rout on the break. Easy.

[Premier League 01/09/12] Arsenal 3-0 Manchester City.

Ramsey 7, Diaby 38, Mertesacker 86

The score flatters us here as City had the better of the play and more chances, but we finished ours. Our first came from a City corner, we broke with Theo who layed it off for Ramsey to crash home - his third in three games. Diaby dispossed Toure on the edge of the box before slamming home before half time. During the second half City piled on the pressure but we held firm, and Mertesacker got our third from a corner. Big win.

[Premier League 15/09/12] Aston Villa 0 - 4 Arsenal

Giroud 4, 47, Tomkins 53, Gnabry 90+2

Villa didn't turn up. We dominated from start to finish. Giroud scored his first two league goals with some powerful play, and Tomkins stabbed home on his Arsenal debut. Moment of the day was when second half substitute and debutante Gnabry ran past 2 players before beating Guzan.

[Champions League Group Stage H 19/09/12] Borussia Dortmund 0 -2 Arsenal

Olivier Giroud 71, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain 81

This was a really tough game, but we managed to get the better of it. Dortmund started brightly with Gotze going close and Lewandowski hitting the bar before the break. We played better during the second half but Theo was having no joy up front. On come Giroud on the hour mark and within 10 minutes he muscles past Hummels to stab home Cazorla's cross. Chamberlain sealed the win 9 minutes from time with a fabulous curling effort from the edge of the box.

[Premier League 23/09/12] Arsenal 1-0 Liverpool

Ramsey 76

A scrappy game after a tiring midweek game with Dortmund. Liverpool had the better of it for most of the game, but Ramsey headed home after 76 minutes to seal the win.

[Capital One Cup - Third round 26/09/12] Arsenal P0-0 Liverpool

I rotated the time big time here, with only Ramsey staying in the side from the previous meeting with Liverpool 3 days earlier. Our young guns controlled the game for the most part against an experienced Liverpool side. Suarez came close just after half time but chances were far between. It went to penalties where the kids held their nerve to win 3-0.

[Premier League 29/09/12] Swansea 0-1 Arsenal

Manuel Fernandes 40

Fresh after a short break the first time all came back into the fold. It was a rather drab affair on a rainy day in Swansea. The Swans controlled possession without but we were dangerous on the break and just before half time Fernandes stole in at the near post to direct his diving header past Vorm. The second half went much the same way as the first but Swansea couldn't break through.

Overall, it's been a good 6 weeks. We're unbeaten, and haven't conceded since the opening day draw with West Ham. The only downside for me has been our CL group draw - Dortmund, Juventus and Olympiakos. It's a tough group for us. Ramseys goals have been a nice surprise and Fernandes has settled in well.

We're also negotiating a £240K deal with a highly rated Brazilian youngster.

OCTOBER 12/13 UPDATE

CARRYING ON FROM WHERE WE LEFT OFF.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP STAGE MATCH DAY 2

VALENCIA 3-3 ARSENAL - Soldado 35pen Jonas 56 66 - Cazorla 18 Lewandowski 45 Arteta 81pen Arteta miss/pen 60

Having got off to a perfect start with three points on matchday 1 we faced a trip to Spain in our first away game of the season's competition. I would've taken a 0-0 but Cazorla gave us the lead after 18 minutes. Valencia didn't look like scoring until they received a penalty to make it 1-1. Under-fire Lewandowski then showed a flash of brilliance to regain our lead just before the break. Jonas equalised and then gave Valencia the lead after Arteta had missed a penalty. But another Spot Kick made it all square. A good and fair result on reflection in an entertaining game.

other game - FC Basle 3-0 Feyenoord

PREMIER LEAGUE

ARSENAL 3-0 READING - Podolski 2 Lewandowski 50 Ebecilio 80

After a tough game in Spain we were missing a number of players for the home game with Reading due to fatigue. New signing Kishna made the bench. Podolski gave us a great start and Lewandowski doubled the lead just after the break. One of the reserve players promoted for the game Kyle Ebecilio finished superbly to make it 3-0. As comfortable as it gets.

PREMIER LEAGUE

SOUTHAMPTON 2-1 ARSENAL - Rameirez 1 Lambert 36 - Arteta 55pen

Out first game after the International break saw us travel to Southampton. The Saints were in mid-table after a decent start to the season but I still expected a comfortable win. Ramirez gave the home side the lead after just 40 seconds before Lambert doubled the lead. Those were the only shots they had all game. We had 22 but only an Arteta Penalty rippled the net. One boost was that Sagna and Wilshere made the matchday squad although both were unused subs.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP STAGE MATCH DAY 3

FEYENOORD 1-1 ARSENAL - Clasie 32 - Giroud 86

We again fell behind in Holland and looked to be heading for defeat despite controlling the game. However off the bench Giroud salvaged a point. I always target wins at home and draws away in the Champions League, so far so good. Sagna returned, Wilshere was again an unused sub.

other game - Valencia 2-1 FC Basle

PREMIER LEAGUE

ARSENAL 3-1 SWANSEA CITY - - Cazorla 17 Koscielny 47 Lewandowski 52 - Michu 5

Third game in a row we had fallen behind but unlike the previous two results this time we managed the win. After Michu gave Swansea a surprise lead it took us some time to get going but after Cazorla got us level it was only going one way. The outstanding Koscielny and improving Lewandowski secured the win. I broguht Wilshere on with 18 minutes to go. He would start at Everton in the League Cup.

LEAGUE CUP 4TH ROUND

EVERTON 1-3 ARSENAL - Barley 51 - Walcott 2 Ramsey 54 Chamberlain 73

We faced a tough challenge in the cup up at Everton. Jack Wilshere made his first start since returning from THAT injury and Ramsey also made the starting eleven. Walcott gave us a great start in what ended up being a tight game. A mix up in the defense allowed Barkley to level before Ramsey and Chamberlain gave us the win.

LEAGUE TABLE

1. ARSENAL 9-22

2. MAN UNITED 9-22

3. TOTTENHAM 9-19

4. MAN CITY 9-18

5. LIVERPOOL 9-17

--------------------

7. CHELSEA 9-13

--------------------

18. FULHAM 9-5

19. WEST HAM 9-5

20. SUNDERLAND 9-4

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

1. VALENCIA 3-7

2. ARSENAL 3-5

3. FC BASLE 3-3

4. FEYENOORD 3-1

I managed to bring in Falcao for £28M in January (transfer listed) and he's been banging them in. Had to break the wage structure though.

Started another new Arsenal save. I seem to enjoy them more when I aim to get a full English squad together. This might be quite difficult with the lack of good BWM that are English and strikers that will join us as well.

Yeah English forwards are not really in great supply, as for ball-winning english mids - i cannot think of any good ones - although bet there are a few decent younger ones that can do the job well
