England vs Italy - Sunday 19:45

Recommended Posts

And yet Montolivo says his best position is in front of the defence.

And I don't buy that Bonucci is a libero thing. It's not like we're playing in an age of 3-5-2, where he's been brought up playing in the middle and now all of a sudden is being asked to do something else. He earned his move to Juve playing in a four man defence at Bari, he earned his first call up for Italy playing in a four man defence. He's not totally incapable.

He's capable, but not as solid as he does in 3-5-2. Had Chiellini been fit, he would have sat on the bench.

Looks like the BBC have finally managed to get a studio out there.

In the stadium aswell.

I think it will go all the way to pens, 1-1 for the score leading into pens i reckon.

Midfield battle is HUGE tonight, if we let the Italians boss the game we will really struggle to get a foothold at all in the game and it will be a LONG night.

I am confident we can win but it will be close.

Do The FA really do this for when they announce every lineup? :D

How long do you think it'll be before Balotelli gets annoyed?

About 3 minutes

Do my eyes deceive me, is the BBC actually at the Euros?!

Finally, about 2 weeks too late but they got there in the end.

Gregg will be firing up his pizza and lasagne right now whilst opening a bottle of Moretti!

They were always on record that they'd go there should England qualify from the group.

Before the tournament the media for the first time didn't hype England, but now after the group games everyone seems to have gone back into the usual mode of saying England are now going to win. We were not that impressive in the group games were we?

I think the true, knowledgable fans are still being realistic, but I agree with you about the media...they've definitely cranked it up over the last few days. Hansen and then Bobby Charlton talking about winning it ffs...there's still 3 games before we could potentially win it. I like what someone else has said in one of the other threads about lots of other countries who still rate their team as doing well even if they get knocked out. This tournament has already been a success for England so far...anything more now is a bonus...be it an unbelievable and exciting one at that!

So its the Czech's and not the germans that are the real penalties masters
Czechs vs Germans in a penalty shootout would be interesting.

Isn't that the one shout-out they lost, v the Czechs? Which led to them deciding to become awesome at pens.

I'd have started Carroll alongside Wellbeck - if there's one thing Italian DC's hate it's having to face a big, physical striker. Not hopeful tonight - it'll be another ugly England performance, short on quality and flair. Will it be enough?

So will Balotelli try and kick Scott Parkers head off again?

High pressure situation surely he will lose it.

i thought all cards were wiped after the group stage

After this game. The commentators in the group games did say at the end of the group stage a few times, but they were wrong.

England to destroy Italy 4-1... :o
