Administrators Philip Rolfe Posted August 20, 2012 Author Administrators Share Posted August 20, 2012 I think he'll get very, very close this season. Probably get to 200 but not quite the record this year, but he'll get it.
shanyi
Don't see why we sent McEachran into the Championship. The playing time will obviously be good, but he's already shown himself far above that level. Treading water IMO, surely one of the newly promoted sides in the Prem would have taken him. el sid
But would they have risked and played a 19 year old regularly when their first priority is to stay in the league?

Surely after the Swansea experience last season they wanted somewhere that he would be guaranteed games, which he didn't get at a newly promoted club last year. Think it's a good move for him, really looking forward to watching him getting some regular games.
bridgekings
He'll learn loads by just playing games. Which is the most important thing right now. The Championship is a decent league too. Kakuta - Bolton PVA - Wigan We've not loaned out in the Prem well.

Think it's a good move for him, really looking forward to watching him getting some regular games. I suppose so, just don't see how much good it will really do him to be playing beneath his level. Surely being challenged and forced to learn from his mistakes is just as important as the playing experience? Not saying the Championship is terrible, but he's definitely got the talent to be playing at the top level.
bridgekings
Has anyone been on a Chelsea stadium tour/to the museum? Worth a go? Have never been on one or even really considered it but i've two weeks to kill before starting work and actually nothing to do. Trying to make the most of my student card before it runs out. jmr
Do people think that's his weakness? For me his weakness is he doesn't protect the back 4. Too many times you see midfielders run at the defence and in the space between the players without being picked up at all and Mikel is stood on his own 10 yards infront of Terry not really doing anything. I think it's the main reason we look so dodgy defensively.

football_master_94
My only concern about Mikel (ie. His weakness) is he has a tendency to hold onto possesion for too long and that's something that needs addressing. Imo, don't really think he was a culprit vs Wigan - if anythimg, I'd be worried about how many crosses we were allowing into the box
jmr
Ivanovic was often left 1v1 because hazard/mata (whoever is on that side) aren't exactly the best at getting back and helping him, definitely a concern when Ramires is out. Obviously the left side was better covered with Bertrand there.
Razzler
McEachran loan only means something if he actually gets a look in when he gets back
DR.ogba
It doesn't have to be next year though that he gets a look in, could have 2-3 seasons of loans or even longer and only then be ready/get a chance.

tcoleman1
Haven't had the internet for nearly and week, didn't realise how much I would miss it. Good game on Sunday although I wasn't happy with how we let our performance drop after the goals. Saying that though Hazard looked great and it was good to see Oscar come on and he did well when he did. Looking forward to tomorrow as it will be my first PL game this season and then again on Saturday for Newcastle at home.
Robokid87
McEachran starts for 'Boro tonight, seems we've actually loaned him somewhere he'll play \o/
tcoleman1
Thank god for that. I do think we should have done this last year. Loaned him out for a full season to a championship club. That way if he really is a lot better than that level then he could either have played a bigger part for us this season or another PL club would have been interested in taking him. Glad him and Lukaku have gone places where it looks like they will get games though.

Didier
Hmm, not sure Lukaku will start regularly which is what we need really.
tcoleman1
Maybe not regularly but he did bring him on in his first game against Liverpool, I know they were down to 10 men but still. I think if he keeps playing well off the bench then Steve Clarke may start him. McEachran starts with a win at Boro as well
matt1389
Played well by the sounds of it too. Lukaku will play if he scores. If he can't force his way into the WBA team this season, then he'll probably need another out on loan. Only one game so far, let's see how it goes!
Bracken
I think Lukaku will get his fair share of starts and sub appearances, and whatever he gets is probably more than he'd get with us this season, so it'll be a good experience for him. Also, I trust Steve Clarke
