Guest sav112
I recon that there will be 4 strong signings including the last one but not including Murray and we will lose baggage like Mladonevic LVENKRANDS Ross (well you can only hope) Lets face it they have been working since January on targets unlike the other side of the city who look to be just starting scouting. I bet two are almost there or partly concluded with the last probably needing a bit of work regarding signings, days of rushing blindly and head strong into the market are long gone thank god. TM
Strachan apparently has an "interest" in Dellas, learning from old MON who didnt seem to have "transfer interests" of his own
Jorg
I'm happy with the signings so far and looking forward to a few more. I think Hemdani will turn out to be a very shrewd signing. I would love to see a decent left winger arrive, any money we can get for Lovenkrands will be a bonus. I'm not sure how many players we can get rid of though, that could be the hard part. SI Staff Ter Posted June 17, 2005 Author SI Staff Share Posted June 17, 2005 <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Greek defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos will not be returning to Rangers and could even be sold to Bolton Wanderers, according to agent Phanis Klonopoulos. Kyrgiakos moved to Rangers in January and helped the Glasgow club win the title, but a row has developed over transfer payments to Panathinaikos. "Discussions are over," Klonopoulos told the Daily Record. "Sotirios will probably be re-sold to another club. "Sam Allardyce wants to take him to Bolton, but he has more options." Klonopoulos was hired by Panathinaikos to find the defender a new club six months ago. We have come to realise Rangers do not want him and this is a surprise And he has continued to represent the Greek club throughout negotiations that now appear to have failed to result in the 25-year-old's permanent move to Rangers. Kyrgiakos wanted to return to Rangers, but Ibrox chief executive Martin Bain revealed last week that he could be on his way back to Athens now that payment is due following what appears to have been a loan deal. There have been reports that the Scottish champions were trying to drive down the price following concerns over an old knee injury. And Klonopoulos claims Panathinaikos have exercised an option to hold on to the player for another year but will probably cash in before the start of the new season. "We have come to realise Rangers do not want him and this is a surprise," said the agent. "McLeish told him he wants him in his team for next season. "Sotirios did a good job for Rangers and did not want to leave. He does not understand what the problem is." Kyrgiakos had arrived at Ibrox as a replacement for Jean-Alain Boumsong after the Frenchman was sold to Newcastle United for £8m in January. Rangers this month completed the signing of Hibernian captain Ian Murray on a free transfer and the Scotland international is able to play at the back. But he is not a traditional centre-half in the mould of Kygriakos. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

SI Staff Ter Posted June 17, 2005 Author SI Staff Share Posted June 17, 2005 Soti was like Amo without the stupid mistakes. Let's hope we do have someone better lined up as our team is looking quite strong for the coming season apart from the defence.
Frankie
The initial point of the transfer was to sign the player after basically a 6 month trial depending on his knees and general performance. If we were happy to keep him, then the transfer fee would go ahead in installments. If we wanted to return him, then we could also. If both clubs agreed to such a transfer, then it should have been in writing. The fact we appear to want to keep Soti, yet Pana won't let him go, suggests the contract wasn't in writing. The written contract should have been thus 1. The overall fee after a trial/loan should be dependent on: A) His fitness B) His performances 2. If A) or B) wasn't of a certain standard then we should have written the contract to allow us to either: A) Pull out completely B) Decrease the overall payment C) Change the payment structure But obviously, the contract wasn't watertight enabling Pana to bicker about the overall fee and/or whether or not to let him go at all. Thus, the only people to blame here are Rangers for not having a watertight contract. If it was, we should have pulled out all negotiations by now and sued Pana for not sticking to it.
