How on Earth did Glentoran get French team in EL qualifiers? It must have been Lorient's first year in Europe. Really unlucky. I believe that here is where detail level helps. I am sure that Glentoran's squad is better, but Lorient as a French team should still have quite high reputation.

A couple of stinking results from the other clubs in Europe.

Still counting down the days until its an all Northern Irish Final ;).

It was Lorient's second appearance, after making the group stage in 2053.

The squads are actually quite close at the moment, but Glentoran (4*/continental) seem to have a higher reputation than Lorient (3*/national), so it looks like they just got unlucky and had a couple of bad games. That all suggests that increasing the detail levels could actually make it harder for them.

Takeover is now complete, promotion from within. Nothing interesting happened at all.

Bourneview Young Men - Carling Premiership - 2062/63

Things were really picking up for Northern Ireland as we looked to reclaim that fourth Champions League spot.

League Table

Glentoran seem to be in a bit of financial trouble, which could explain their poor performance.

Domestic Cups - straight wins.

UEFA Super Cup - should have won, but didn't.

FIFA Club World Cup - we annihilated them.

UEFA Champions League - a pretty easy run, ending in another classic final against Barcelona.

Glentoran in Europe - not a bad season, losing narrowly to a strong Man City side.

Linfield in Europe - oops.

Tobermore in Europe - a great run in the group stage, followed by the demolition of Inter and a close loss to Barcelona.

Squad - there are some weak spots, but this is a great squad.

Transfers - another big profit made.

Premiership Transfers - we dominated it, apart from the big sale by Glentoran.

Key Player Profiles:

Marcus Bickerstaff - another bad injury, but he returned in style.

Kamil Moreau - these were the goals I splashed out for.

Simon Monteil - superb stuff from the midfielder.

Carlos Goossens - he's finally settled into the supporting striker role.

Ibán - great once again.

I'll probably play until FM13 is released. Progress is pretty slow at the moment and not a lot is happening but I don't think I'll ever get bored of it.

Reputations

Carling Premiership - 7th in European competitions (3.5 stars) - no change

Northern Ireland - 5th in UEFA coefficients - up 2

Northern Ireland - 25th in FIFA rankings - up 9

Bourneview - 1st in UEFA coefficients - no change

Glentoran - 23rd in UEFA coefficients - no change

Linfield - 27th in UEFA coefficients - down 3

Newry - 65th in UEFA coefficients - up 10

Tobermore United - 24th in UEFA coefficients - up 9

We may lose it next year, but we have overtaken Germany in the UEFA coefficients which means that not only will we have an extra team in the Champions League, they won't have to play the extra qualifying match

So is that three automatic qualifiers and one in the last qualifying round?

So is that three automatic qualifiers and one in the last qualifying round?

It's two straight into the group stage and one in the last qualifying round. If a NI wins the CL this season then there's an extra club straight into the group stage.

I think once you secure the place in the coefficients it will be harder to lose it

Hopefully this time, yes. Last time it hurt us since we had no strong teams beyond the top three, this time we have the tycoon owned clubs.

Do the tycoon owned clubs have good managers?

Tobermore have the former Glentoran manager, who seems to be doing quite well. Newry have the former Portadown manager, who doesn't seem to be doing as well.

Both are British and have national reputation.

How far is that 4th place?

Here's the list

There's a bit of a gap to 4th, but there's nothing extra to be gained there. 3rd place would be the big one, with a fourth CL spot up for grabs.

In 2 years NI will be deducted 25,238 coeff, France 32,642 and Italy 34,833. You'll be all very close, performance in next 2 years will mean A LOT!

Like having good quality teams to play against because normally after awhile in a save the teams just get worst at recruiting the teams just get worse in quality

There's no doubt that the game gets easier during first couple of decades, but after that things remain fairly consistent. If anything, the AI teams have become stronger in recent years as can probably be seen by the league tables.

Do they produce youth which make it into their first teams and do most of them have full squads ?

It's hard to make a general comment on that, but if you name a couple of clubs I'll show you what they have.

Bourneview Young Men - Carling Premiership - 2063/64

With the news that an extra team will be in the Champions League, things are really getting interesting in Northern Ireland.

League Table

The rich clubs really made their mark, with Glentoran missing out on that extra Champions League spot.

Domestic Cups - straight wins.

UEFA Super Cup - we came back to win.

FIFA Club World Cup - fairly one sided.

UEFA Champions League - we had a couple of bad games, but we made our way to the final which was a third consecutive thrilling win over Barcelona.

Glentoran in Europe - poor.

Linfield in Europe - not bad, but they struggled against the top teams.

Tobermore in Europe - same as Linfield really, they did well but lost to the big sides.

Newry in Europe - a decent run for a club on the up.

Squad - there's still a few gaps, but this is a great squad.

Transfers - we made a huge profit as we cleared out some of the older and unhappy players.

Premiership Transfers - Tobermore were spending quite a bit.

Key Player Profiles:

Marcus Bickerstaff - not his best season, that target of 1000 is looking unlikely now. Should I drop him?

Kamil Moreau - decent, but he could score a lot more if given the chance.

Gabriel Romito - loads of assists from the winger.

Roman Ilkow-Golab - the midfielder finally made a big impact.

Carlos Goossens - a great second striker.

Next season could be huge with four clubs in the Champions League, and unlike last time they all have a chance of doing well.

I can't fit the first team on one page, so I've sorted by value:

Man Utd

Barcelona

Liverpool

I'm not really sure on the exact differences, but I think that loading players means that the squads are kept full, but loading leagues means they are simulated more accurately.

These early exits are really hurting the coefficients. I am sure that lack of full detail processing is having some sort of effect on this.

I had the detail turned up last season, it didn't seem to help them out much. I think the biggest problem is Glentoran, they've lost in the EL qualifiers again this season :D

Things are good elsewhere though, Linfield came through their qualifier and Cliftonville and Portadown have made the EL group stages.

The biggest threat to our coefficients is the lack of depth in the NI league. If one one the big five has a shocker (like Glentoran) then it makes a huge difference as there's not much chance of any of the other clubs doing anything significant.

Glentoran have just sacked their manager after this shocking start to the season. I hope someone comes in and sorts them out, we badly need them back on form.

Something else I've noticed is the number of clubs in debt. There's a handful of Premiership clubs with debts far larger than the value of the club (like this). I wonder whether the growth of the Premiership is actually hurting some clubs as the wages grow faster than the prize money?

Portadown (anothe club with a big debt) are looking for a new owner, I've got my fingers crossed for another tycoon.

Tobermore have great facilities but still play in a 1000 capacity stadium :D

Elsewhere, there have been improvements to the facilities, but nothing spectacular. Glentoran built a new 26641 capacity ground a while ago and Linfield are due to move into a new 33750 capacity stadium.

They have appointed the manager who replaced me as Northern Ireland boss when I stepped down, so hopefully he can sort them out.

Here's José, he retired a while ago :D

this is a great read Dafuge. Fingers crossed for another tycoon!

I was hopeful that Portadown might get one, but they've been taken over by a consortium. Looks like there's no financial input either, with more debt being covered by another loan.

As for Glentoran, that change in manager seems to have done the trick :D

I can't fit the first team on one page, so I've sorted by value:

Man Utd

Barcelona

Liverpool

I'm not really sure on the exact differences, but I think that loading players means that the squads are kept full, but loading leagues means they are simulated more accurately.

So its safe to say they will not be a major quality in your game when choosing between the two ?

Just looking at the transfers for your league i noticed you sold 2 players to city for £50M each! After all your success you must have a huge bank balance.

Very good read, I've been inspired by this thread to start a save in Northen Ireland, although I highly doubt I'll have anywhere near as much success as this!

League positions - they also made the Europa League final in 2030.
