FM12 Liverpool F.C Thread - Victory is upon us.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, first post. on my 4th season in my Liverpool save it's going pretty well, won the league first season and CL second season and got the club financially stable by selling Downing et al by the end of the 3rd now operating at a rich financial status moving up to the 8th richest club in the world. Now in August of the 4th season and I'm having problems getting Lucas to sign a new contract, he's wanting 120k a week and I have now employed a no-six-figure/week wage policy so negotiations broke down. He's now in the last year of his contract and won't reopen talks despite me warning transfer listing him. Any suggestions of what to do? Can't really risk losing him on a free despite being a rich club now as I only spend what I make in the transfer market.

Hi lads havent been on for awhile been on the xbox more gutted the king got the sack dont want Rafa back though need to forward i hope fsg get the right person in

Bringing him back would be the biggest mistake in the world, first time we're priced out of a player and he'd have his brainwashed cult burning American flags

Start of the first season in the league and I'm struggling big time. Probably also due to the fact that the tactics and players haven't gelled yet but the team lacks any bite whatsoever. Carroll is showing his irl early season form and Suarez seems really up and down at the moment. Hope this changes by the time the season starts. Also I've been considering Nene, who is transfer listed.

As Maxi Rodriguez and Kuyt are not exactly the most inspiring AMR's I'm going to bring in Willian for 11m, hope the injection of pace and flair will aid my ailing attack

started a new game with LFC. Signed a young brazlian DMC/MC called Fernando (beast), looks to be a good signing. Good Keita on loan also. Signed Afalay and Paco Alcera (valencia).

Sitting 2nd in December.

Which is the best way to get Gerrard and Carra to be come coaches?

Just re signed Alonso on free transfer boy i miss him IRL

Haha same, he's only going to backup though, Aaron Ramsey and Lucas have too good of partnership!

Here's the transfers I made in Summer 2015

Liverpoolinandouts.png

Main Transfers In

Damiano - With Bassong on his way out I had to install a new world class CB and this guy fits the job perfectly, although £20,000,000 may seem a tad pricey for a 20 year old, this guy looks to own the defence in future

Wickham - I'll admit, this was a panic buy, I needed a good English striker and I saw Liverpool in his favourite clubs, so I snapped him up. To be fair on the lad, he's been a beast so far,he's scored 6 in 8 games.

Gotze - £55,000,000 a new record transfer for Liverpool, been putting this lad off for a while due to his hefty price tag. In the end I gave in to Dortmund's demands, he hasn't scored a goal yet but he's averaging a nice 7.12 from 5 games. Hopefully this lad will be the talisman to give us continued success in Europe.

Romero - I've asked myself time and time again, why did I buy this guy? He's poo poo at best. Ter Stegen can rest in his bed knowing that his number 1 jersey is safe for now.

Main Transfers Out

Vrsaljko - Didn't like the lad too much, didn't perform in the big games and rich-boys Newcastle offered £20,000,000 far to say I bit their hand off.

Kelly - Just wasn't good enough in the end, which I mostly blame myself for, for not playing him enough.

Bassong - Was getting too old and couldn't replicate the success he had at his first year, made a nice £12,000,000 profit on him.

Jovetic - This is why we don't play Football Manager when we're drunk, we sell one of our best players... I miss him so much :(

Reina - He flipped on me when I removed him from the captiancy that he never really had. Annoyed with this one, left me in a situation where I don't have a stand out superstar goalkeeper.

McMinigal - Just loaned him out to Hearts for a few months to get some first team games, then he's getting throw in to the deep end, watch this space.

And Jovetic went to Chelsea as well haha.

Regret not getting Seydou Keita in on loan tbh. Found myself stalling on transfers and in the end I'm playing Spearing as a backup DM which is really not good enough.

Knocked out of the League Cup by Newcastle 2-1 after fielding a team full of youngsters. Brought on Suarez and Gerrard but they just did not want to score, missing a couple of 1 on 1s each.

Andy Carroll is just kinda rubbish at the moment. Any game he plays in, he does almost nothing and does not seem to threaten the opposition at all. Switching between target man attack and support, I feel he plays slightly better attacking with Suarez in behind.

Also signed Willian for 11m to add abit of spark to my attack and he's done alright so far. Still needs time to blend in though.

Not sure if I should sell Kuyt in Jan as he will not get much game time now with Willian taking the AMR spot. He's a good tutor though so might offload Maxi instead. However, Maxi fits my tactics way better than Kuyt.

Started a new save this morning using my own tactics instead of downloading them and things have been going very well so far.

11 games played in the league - won 8, drew 2, lost 1, GD +14

Sitting 3rd in the league, 3 points behind 1st.

Gerrard is now out for the season after Theo Walcott damaged his cruciate ligaments. Out for 8 month.

First ever post on here, though have been playing for years.

Big Liverpool fan and always look to get them to world beaters (new stadium etc) before moving on to a smaller club and get them up the leagues.

Really enjoyed this just about to start my 3rd season having won the Premier league in my first and the league & champs in the second (got an easy run with Lyon in the final).

Bit stuck on who to sign now, though I've had a few good regens sign so may just work on them, though I still think I should work on central mids & defence.

1st season: Signed Erik Torres & Mahamadhou Diarra (on a free).

Played Suarez upfront Kuyt & Maxi on the wings. Charlie Adam's form has been immense and keeps gerrard out.

2nd season: Signed Cavani, Vidal & Willian

Playing:

______Cavani_______

Suarez_______Willian

___Vidal___Adam____

_______Lucas________

Enrique_Agger__Coates__Johnson

______Reina____

Shelvey is coming on to be a great squad player as is robinson. Sold Downing, Bellamy, Henderson. Still trying to get rid of Carroll & Aquaman, might get rid of Maxi just for funds, but think I will keep Kuyt for tutoring.

Any thoughts on improvements would be good, want Ramsey to replace Adam perhaps, but I'm just worried losing Adams free kicks will me I lose a lot of goals. (he as averaged at least 7.3 over the last two seasons, largely down to assists and goals from these, swell as assists in game.

Sorry for the rushed typing.

started again as couldn;t get into a second season game.

only buying a player now if i can pay the fee upfront. no deals over 24-48 months.

Have sold off Jones, Aurelio, Maxi and a few reserves

Brought in

Areola 1.8m (offered out by PSG decided to get him as i sell Doni in season 2 and need Back up)

Sime Vrsaljko 1.2m (will use M Kelly as a CB)

Milan Badelj 4.2m

Thiago 1.9m year long loan fee

Ibrahim Affelay 2m

and found 3 regens who look decent, a CB, DM & RW\ST, scouts rated them highly so will give them a few games over the season and see if they develope, otherwise i can sell and make a profit on them. All 3 cost around 4m in total

instead of mass changes i've just tried to add to a few weak area's in the squad and will try and get a good cup run going and get back into the CL so that i can make 1/2 big signings in season 2. was hard not to go mad and buy hazard over 49 months but Affelay is actually a beast as an AML playing inside forward

Adam playing well? Wow... that's gotta be something. I choose to play Shelvey over him even in the first season. Maybe I gotta give him more games and see what happens. You on the latest patch?

Also, Staf9 how did you manage to get regens in the first season?

I also made a record signing for Gotze. He is now the best winger in the premiership on my save. Only my goal machine Alberto Paloschi beats him for avg rating.

Season Review - 2012/2013 Season

League Table Squad (GKs&Def) Squad (2)

Since I'm done with University I decided to get through the rest of the season over the course of the past couple of days. My initial worries from my last update were pretty much over as soon as I signed the Ox as his versatility helped me a lot.

As for the league itself, well it's kinda self explanatory really.. We completely and utterly ripped the league apart.. although the defensive record is very poor in my opinion.. something I will be hoping to sort out next season.

You can see the rest of the league results here. I played my kids in the final six games and we did, in my opinion very well. Especially in the Manchester City game, which I thought would be the end of our unbeaten streak.

Now for the Champion's League.. When I last left off, I had just qualified for the knockout stages where I met a rampant Real Madrid, who were at the time, top of the La Liga. We beat them with relative ease.

Next up was Manchester United, whom we picked apart in both legs, again winning with relative ease.

After that was Chelsea, who like in real life.. were underachieving massively and they gave us a scare in the second leg. But it was a 109th minute goal from Filip Onderka who got us into the final where we met..

Bayern Munich.. who have a scarily good attacking force of Xabi Prieto, Toni Kroos, Thomas Muller and Mario Gomez.. I never would've imagined what happened next.. I even left the room for the first half to make a cup of tea but I was so nervous.. but.. like the old saying goes.. a picture speaks a thousand words..

FA Cup Results - I'm not going to review the domestic cups as I played my kids and holidayed all the games apart from the QF Reply and Finals (I was studying at the time).

We also won the Mickey Mouse Cup With Ease.

Final Musings:

First off meet our newest star of the youth system Callum Banks, a Striker/CB () who is touted as one of the "best players of his generation" although I doubt that he will be THAT good considering some of the youngsters that are floating about. He is 4* potential though and is probably going to improve ten-fold in the next three or so seasons.

My personal players of the year are:

3) Douglas Costa: My set piece specialist and typical tricky winger that a lot of teams tend to use. Most of the 22 goals he scored were from free kicks and long range shots, which is quite amazing really. I think he got around 4 goals of the month but wasn't even in the top 3 for goal of the year? He won the PFA Player's player of the year.

2) Baskhim Kadrii: My bargain of the century. He didn't get as many goals as he should've done in 54 games compared to last year, but he played a more supportive role this season, hence his huge amount of assists. For £1 million, he has scored 90 goals and assisted 39 times.. you can't simply get a better bargain than that.

1) Luis Suarez: I hate him in real life.. but in game he is amazing. 58 goals in 61 games.. he is the typical complete forward. His discipline is frustrating though.. 8 yellow cards may not be a lot but ALL of them were for diving. At times I want to see him but he is such a good player and with Cavani coming in next season, he can only improve.

Speaking of Cavani, I have signed him. He had a release clause of £12 million and for a player of his quality.. I can't simply turn that down. He will be our highest earner but he is well worth it.

I have also got a couple other players coming through.. regens infact. These are:

Gary Gilmour - 1 CA, 4.5* PA. Joining from Rangers for £700k, has the potential to be a world class centre back.

Fotis Ntakalas - 1CA, 3.5* PA. Joining from Panathanaikos for £650k. I will be developing him and selling him on purely for profit. He still looks pretty good though.

Achraf Trabelsi - 1CA, 3.5* PA. Joining from CA Hammam-Lif of Tunisia for £575k. I will be doing the same for him as I am for Ntakalas.

Zakaria Labyad was moaning about first team football after coming back from the African Cup of Nations, so I'm selling him for £8.75M to Norwich.. not bad for a player who I got for free.

Andy Carroll is ****. So I've sold him to PSG for £15M.

Finally, here is Filip Onderka at 19 years old. He played 34 games this season, amassing 7 goals and 10 assists. The reason I am showing this player is because he is the player who I am basing my save around from now on. He is going to be a direct replacement for Gerrard when he retires next season and has shown some glimpses of what he can do already. I am worried about his natural fitness being so low, but with such a high stamina, he can finish games and have enough fitness for the next couple of games so I am not too concerned about that for now.

Anyway, that's all from me for now. :)

Is Steve Clarke good enough for you guys? He's pretty decent imo, but that's about it. Great defence coach though but not on those wages.

Thinking of getting in Brazil's Assman even if his discipline is kinda low.

Struggling early part of first season. Similar to real life, losing to small teams and just lacking any bite in attack.

I could not sell andy carroll to anyone. Ended up releasing him as he was a drain on 70k per week.

newcastle snapped him up two days later (wouldn't even bid 500k for him)

God bless PSG and their spending ways for me. :D It is 5M upfront and 10M over 18 months, but I'm still happy with that.

They also want Agger (who is injury prone and draining a lot of wages) and I am very tempted to sell him for the £20Million I could sell him at.

edit: Riziger, I would hold onto Clarke for a couple of seasons because his compensation payout is something ridiculous like over £1million. He's a great defensive coach anyway and he's solid all around in the needed places (if I remember correctly)

I had what I considered a very good first season.

Won the Carling Cup and finished 3rd in the league ( 1 point behind Man Utd ).

I had a very good clear out in the summer as well:

Andy Carroll - £5m - West Ham

Dirk Kuyt - £1.5m - Roma

Joe Cole - £1m - Velencia

Charlie Adam - £2.5m - Birmingham

Jay Spearing - £2.5m - Birmingham

Craig Bellamy - 100K - Aston Villa

That is a lot of saving on the wages. The only player I could not get rid of was the Aquaman, even offered him to clubs for free.

My other transfer out during the summer was Daniel Agger for £15m to Leverkusen which takes off another 72k a week.

Transfers in:

Arron Ramsey - £10m - Arsenal

Salvatore Bocchetti - £15m - Rubin

Darko Lazovic - £3.5m - FC Twente

I also brought in 7 regens who will either develop into really good players or I will be able to sell them on for a tidy profit in a few year.

Just played my first game of the new Premier League Season, beating Middlesbrough 4-1 away from home.

Well, I remember in my last save I won the league in the 2nd season and then he left at the end to manage Wolves. Then in the 3rd season it all went pear shaped. :\

Don't know if Steve Clarke leaving and the problems in that season were related but I couldn't see any other reason lol.

Clarke worked wonders for me. Trouble was it got to 2017 and he didn't want to sign a new deal. So he left and i replaced him with an italian assistant (exact spelling as past me by)

When i get a chance i'll put up some screenshots.

My biggest problem is replacing Reina. Currently on my game he's 35 and still at his best.

But there seems to be a lack of decent regen keepers. Signed a nestor suarez from Argentina who seems up to it, but he's only been playing carling cup and a few dead rudders in cl and league.

All the best regens in my game or from Spain or Latin America. I have not seen one decent english player who i think would fit into my team for the next 5/10 years

Alright cool, will hang on to Steve Clarke for a while more then, it is true that his defending training is great.

Steam is doing my head in now though, can't even connect to my account before it's not responding. 1 hour of FM time wasted.

EDIT: Gah, just lost to Everton making it 3 games on the bounce without a win. No idea what's wrong as well, Gerrard played gash and Enrique has been absolute rubbish so far. Totally dominated the game in all aspects with 3 CCCs compared to their none but they somehow won 2-1. Suarez had 9(!) shots all from inside the penalty box and only scored 1 of them.

Need someone who will score when given the chance.

Alright guys! Been a while since I've been on here since I've had my final year exams for uni but now that that's done, I'm back! Hope all your saves are going well!

I've just started a new save myself. So far: cleared out most of the staff and all of the scouting team and got my new cheaper and better ones installed.

As far as transfers are concerned:

Brought in:

Willian for £12m

Lucas Andersen for £1m

Felipe Andersen for £5.25m

Sime Vrsaljko for £2.5m

Keita on loan

Getting Douglas Costa for £10m (unsettled him :D) and Yaya Sanogo for £2.5m as well I think.

Sold:

Jones for £800k to Fulham

Skrtel for £10m to Bayern (only £2.5m upfront though)

Aureilo for £1.9m (over 48 months)

Maxi for £7m (over 48 months)

Spearing on loan but I hope it becomes permanent.

Been playing a few friendlies but only got 2 left I think.

Gonna try playing Adam, Henderson and Carroll a bit more solely for the fact that I'm hoping it'll be easier to sell them off!

I want to make a comeback to the second sentence but cannot think of anything that would be of worth considering our 8th placed finish....But congrats on winning the....oh wait!

Oh well! Looking forward to next season already and hoping for a better season and cannot wait for Lucas' return.

Probably a less chance of being in entangled in the relegation battle with Rodgers than Martinez though :).

Glad good players are coming to the league - Hazard, Podolski and Kawaga. SAF's done it again with only £12m or £16m (different reports I've heard) for Kawaga.

Shame about Swansea and now Norwich to lose their managers who did so good. Fair play to Martinez for staying. Kagawa was cheap, but not that cheap when you take into consideration that he is in his last year of the contract.

That is true. But that's the life of football at the moment - some have a good season and are wanted by other clubs. Think Wigan won't be in the relegation battle next season - just a feeling I have. True but still cheap compared to Hazard. The thing I respect about SAF is that he only enters the market for players that he needs unlike us who just increased our midfield options by a couple of players when it was not needed and don't even identify the problem that we have on the right wing. And the fact that we need another quality striker to back up Carroll and Suarez. But oh well, hope Rodgers sees sense on this.

Hi,

It's a good challenge? It's easy?

I think that Liverpool have a too ambicious president and it's easy to start with the team and won the premiership.

I like to think it's a challenge. Especially to win the Champions League. Maybe it's just me but I don't think that I have won the premiership in my first season.

I've long read on these forums of players having these amazing seasons but I've never had a star single-handedly destroy other times like the mighty Radamel Falcao. World Player of the Year, Premier League Top Scorer, Champions League Golden Boot winner, and captained our side to a quadruple this season. Unbelievable. Falcao you are Jesus!

I have just finished the 2016/17 season and I thought some people might be interested in which members of the original squad are still doin' the business!

LiverpoolSquad_Players-1.png

GK

Reina - still one of the best keepers

DEF

Enrique- Still sometimes inconsistant but still useful

Agger - Not his best season but still a quality player

Skrtel - A rock at the back

Kelly - Good backup player

MID

Adam - Some people have disregarded Adam but I found he only gets better. Has a stamina problem and gets tired easily though.

Henderson- More of a backup these days but still well worth keeping around.

ATT

Suarez - Not the best goalscorer but partner him with someone like Paloschi and he provide many and bag a few of his own too.

Even though I feel it is my stongest squad by far (Gotze set a new premiership avg rating record) the season itself was ruined by a strangely rampant Chelsea team.

First they knocked me out of the League Cup and FA Cup but the worst was the last league match of the season. Chelsea came to Anfield of the final day 2 points ahead at the top of the table so a win for the reds would see us snatch the title from the team that had been top the whole season! The result was my biggest home defeat so far 1-6! I had a few big injuries but still! The only thing that saved my season was a dramatic penalty win over Barca in the Champions league final. Barca had beaten Chelsea in the Semi-Final!

When BR was first linked with the job, I have to admit I wasn't keen on him.

After listening to both the press conference and the interview he did with Matt on LFCTV this morning I am very excited about him.

Was a bit annoyed with comments made by both TW and IA about them saying that they want to give the manager time as long as there is progression and improvement. This goes against why KD got sacked as I feel the team was improving and we won a cup as well.

Anyway like I said I am excited after hearing BR talking and am really looking at what he can bring to LFC.

Started a new game last week and finished season 1 last night.

Review

decided that i would only pay money upfront for any transfer so that i wasn;t doing loads of 48 month deals. made a difference as i had to think more about what i was doing and positions i strenghtened.

Spent 31m and brought in 20m in sales

First buys were

Sime Vrsalkjo 1.2m is a bargain, i'm playing the fullbacks as WB's and he's pure class and if needed can be sold for big profits

Ibrahim Affelay 2m again bargain for such quality. play him as AML inside forward

Milan Badelj 4.2m again another who is quality but can be sold on for a profit if better becomes available

Thiago LOAN DEAL. managed to get him on loan for the season. will be missed in season 2 as i wont get him again

3 regens brought in who my scouts rated highly. 2 have played a few games and these 2 i have high hopes for. the 3rd a AMR/ST started brightly but stats have dropped a bit

OUts

Brad Jones 500k

Conor Coady 600k

Aurelio 2.6m

Maxi 7.5m

released about 10 u18's

Season started well enough and was in the top 4 and stayed consistant for the first half of the season. defensively we were very good but we needed more goals so in jan i decided to Sell a couple and try and bring in a bit more pace and attacking flair

Out went

Dirk Kuyt 5m

Bellamy 2.3m

Doni 2m

INS

Willian 11m a great buy and was worth the money 10 goals in 16 games from AMR

Areola, 1.8m he was offered out for this so i took it and got rid of Doni, reduced the wage bill as well.

Facundo Ferreyra 5m, was looking for another poacher but without paying big money, scouts said he can be better than Suarez so took a chance. 3 goals in 10 games but looks promising

well once the buys came in we started to play really well and managed to put a run together which got us challenging Arsenal for first, we managed to get ahead of then by a couple of points but i never held any hope of claiming the title as our last 4 games were Villa (A), Man City (H), ARSENAL (A), Chelsea (H)

i got 3 points ahead coming to those last 4 games and went DDLD to end up in second. Was actually happy with that tho as we played good football

i went out of both Cups very early as i played very young teams so i need to improve there.

Have already got 4 signings lined up for season 2.

Mateo Kovacic 5m

EDEN HAZARD 36.5m he was offered out and spurs had a bid accepted so my hand was forced i had to ask the board to intervene and adjust funds but couldn't lose out on him.

2 regens CM's who got definit purchase reports from scouts

waiting now to see if i'll have funds for a couple more as i want to bring in Verthongen & Andrea Poli and a striker to challenge Suarez if possible. depends on sales

article on lfc website its a good read and is useful if anyone wants to try playing the Rodgers way in their games.

http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/rodgers-and-tiki-taka-part-two

also if anyone gets this tactic to successfully work id be very appreciative of a download link to it.

I had a go at doing a BR tactic other day but after reading that it is not a million mile away.

Tactic:

4-3-3 Lfc Att.tac | Game Front

I use no O.I

Standard Pitch

Match Prep: Attacking Movement

Target Man set to your Striker

No Playmaker

My line-up was

Right to left

GK Reina

DEF Johnson Skertel Agger Enrique

MID Adam Lucas Stevie

ATT Downing Suarez Hazard

The tactic uses wingers to cut inside so you should use Right footed on left and visa versa.

I never set up my set pieces due to not wanting the corner bug being in the tactic by accident all are set mixed and standard player instructions.

If i had set these up i am sure the results below would have improved.

I went on holiday for a full season using this tactic finished 2nd W23 D10 L5 F74 A33

Suarez scored 38 Downing 11 Maxi 9 Hazard 8 Gerrard 8 Assists Hazard 16 Adam 13 Lucas 12 Downing 11

Why?

Why is Ronaldo best player? Hulk surely deserves it, I won CL, beat RM in finals, won Prem and FA Cup and Hulk was key player in all of that. Fuc*kin Spanish clubs...
