Just to clarify:

-V3 WILL be for the current unpatched game.

-But it will be the LAST version of the tactic until the patch arrives.

-V4 will come after the patch to deal with any changes the patch makes that may affect my tactic.

Do you give the DMC an arrow and how do you position your lone MC? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I just leave the DMC in the DMC role, with the same settings set for the MC position, and I move my other MC to the center of midfield, which will push your wingers out wider a touch more. Most of the time I'll make the width a little wider, and sometimes up the tempo. Seems to work for me.

As always my deadlines arn't promises - as it's my work I'll release it when I have time to and when I've done the write-up.

That said I'm hoping to release it tonight.

I've got a report in thats a pretty big chunk of my degree year this week though, so that takes priority.

-------------

I've been playing with a 4-1-3-2 formation change (one of the MCs back to DMC) and it's had intresting results, V3 is the standars flat 4-4-2 though. However depending on what the patch changes you should be prepared for V4 to possibly have Home and Away versions.

I'd like people opinions on weather Home/Away game version would be a posative change or whether you'd prefer i stick to a ingle solution.

I’ve used this for 2 ½ season with Aberdeen – seasons 1 and 2, a moderate success (5th and 6 league finishes and a Scottish Cup victory). For season 3 I’d made a slight alteration to the central midfielders, without moving them or giving arrows I set one to ‘sit-in’ and one to burst forward with high creativity. Paid immediate and tangible dividends, now romping the league (well, 8 points clear of Sellick with 15 games to go), and very much delighted indeed.

Cheers man MiniFuss.

i think stick with 1 tactic until you can set both tactics up at once on the tactics screen which may still be a few FM's away

• • • MiNiMaL_FuSS 07 v3 • • •

----------------

CHANGES:

• Set Peices - You'll notice some minor set-peice changes, like corners aim to pickout the target man at the near post.

• Team - Team instructions tweaked very slightly.

• Goal Keeper - The GK has been set to distribute via long kick to te target-man, very effective for counter attacks.

• Strikers - Have received a little tweaking to be more like they were in V1, the Right FC is the Target Man.

• Midfield - Wingers general agressiveness has been reduced slightly (creative freedom, mentality, etc reduced).

• Midfield - The Left MC will adopt a more attacking role (like an AMC) while keeping the flat 4.

• Midfield - The Right MC will adopt a more defensive role (like a DMC) while keeping the flat 4.

• Defence - Full Backs now have backwards-arrows, this helps cut out opponents crosses, altough will cost you afew crosses also.

• Defence - Entire back 4 have had a minor mentality, freedom and closingdown increase, this helps them closedown the opposition more, cutting out passes and crosses rather than constantly sitting too far back.

----------------

Notes/Issues:

• You may choose to reduce the wingers arrows = this will make the tactic less offensive but will slightly reduce injuries and tiredness of wingers and may help with ball posession [NOT RECOMMENDED].

• You may choose to remove the backwards arrows on the fullbacks = this will weaken the defense and allow in more crosses, but intrun will make you more offensive [NOT RECOMMENDED].

• You may choose to change te goalkeepers distributions back to mixed = if kicking it long to the target man simply isn't working for you, then this is a good choice [DEPENDANT ON KEEPER/TARGET MAN].

----------------

Tips/Tweaks [READ THIS || VITAL]:

As before the key to winning game after game is to make minor changes in tactic to catch the AI out. When you start a match and are presented with the team talk screen, click tactics, now you can make tactical changes before kickoff but after the other team has readied their team.

Recommended Changes:

• Change 'Pass down the flanks' to 'Mixed'

• Change target man aim from 'Head' to 'Mixed'

• Change Holdup ball settings for target man

• Give other striker 'free role'

• Put target man more centeral or have other striker make runs to flank to collect ball (with side arrow)

• An arrow to the DMC position for the more defensive CM may help aainst good opposition (more defensive play)

I'm not saying all of these will work, and DO NOT do them all at once, they're just small changes to impliment now and then to mix it up a little bit, those happen to be my favourites, but there are many ways to alter the tactic in a minor way for success. As always, mold it to your team!!!!

----------------

Patch/V4/Future:

• I Don't know when the patch will be out and I don't know how it will effect my tactic.

Once it's out i will release a new version of my tactic to deal with any changes.

• V4 will probably contain a Home and Away system (2 version of the tactic), much more than that i dont know yet, other than the away system will probably be a 4-1-3-2.

----------------

Get it in the download center (shortly after posting this)

----------------Enjoy!!!------------------

NB:

Some people will not like V3 as much as other versions, this is true of any tactic. Just remember I release my tactics for free and I tweak them to work better for me although they are tested with multiple teams. A tactic is just that - a tactic; it cannot make up for bad managment and crappy team-talks on your part.

I have personally tried this tactic, but I play with two all out wingers (side AMF's) rather than side mids, since my squad doesn't have the players for it, and since I'm in League 2 with no transfer budget and still 5k above my wage budget (was 15k over when I took the job last season!!) I can't change that. The formation helped me play in what I believe to be a better way, but the results are still mixed although to more extremes. Rather than my 1-0 wins I used to get, I now get 3-1, 4-1, 3-0 etc when I win. Rather than 0-0 draws, I get 1-1 and 2-2 draws, and rather than losing 1-0, I lose 3-1, 2-0, etc etc. Basically, the scoring for each side has just been upped, but results are still mixed.

So my question is this: Can this formation be modified slightly to make it work with AMF's instead of CM's? Or should I just play my AMF's out of position? What penalties do they incur when out of position? They aren't great crossers as it is, and I don't have a great target man either, but my side players are very pacy, especially for a low divison (Left side Acc 18, pace 17, right side acc 17, pace 17) and can both score on headers, and can pass well. So far, to balance between the more attacking wingers, i've had the centre mids sit back a bit more, and the full backs not as rampant.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Mighty Tamworth (who are now in League 2) have just earnt a replay against Chelski using v3.

To rub salt in their wounds, we were 2 nil up after 31 minutes. it took them until the 71st minute to break us down and then they equalised in the 82nd.

Man of the match was Petr Cech.

Only tweeks for this game where:

Moved mentality towards defensive, around about 5.

Added Farrow to AMC position for left midfield and Barrow for DMC.

Looking forward to the replay back at our place.

I think my squad of kids is going places.

hi fuss

first i want thanks for your tactic,it's very great(i now use V1)

i want ask a little(maybe fool)question:

you say in V3 "the Right FC is the Target Man",so should i draw the player into the board of "target men" which in team tactic? or it's default don't need to set?

I've updated my Milan team as well with the new Fuss tactic and am finally having success.

After trying v1 and v2, this one seems to do the trick. My Strikers are finally doing what they are suppose to do (when they are not injured!). The Full Backs now prevent a lot of crosses and when the other team plays with a single striker they don't cut through my central defence as easy as before. I haven't conceded in 6 games now!

The only negative part is that my strikers are injured quite a bit more then before...But I don't know it this is because of the game itself, the tactic or training (although this seems fine to me!)

Conclusion: Nice update Fuss and thanks again

Yes, you must. The tactic will not work very well if you do not do this. Trust me, I forgot to do it when my star striker got injured and went on a 2 match loosing streak before I realised what a I had done.

Teflon Don,

I am using this tactic with AML and an AMR in my game, it is fine because the Farrows on those positions run them from midfield, throught the AMR or AML position into an FC position. Sometimes due to fatigue I shorten the farrows to try and prevent injury.

My right sided AMR has my second highest rating in my squad. I have recently found a regen with 20 crossing in the AML position and he has started performing fantastic as well. I think your lowish crossing will be offset by your high pace, my previous AML was similar to yours and he did ok.

-Crossing is the number 1 stat for your wingers, although as alays pace/acceration are very important.

-Yes you MUST drag a target man into the target man box!!!

-AML/AMR work fine in the MR/ML position, infact thats where they are intended to play on the whole as long as they make forward runs as opposed to some flat defensive role.

-Glad to see some good results!

FuSS,

Thanks for this tactic

I won the PL with Arsenal, unbeaten for a whole season with version 2.

The second season didn't start good, because Baptista left. I'm still searching for a new target man.

I'm going to try version 3 tonight, I keep you updated.

I think the tactic depends on the team too. I've used tactics with some teams that other people say worked for them, but didn't for me.

I started using this particular tactic with Swindon Town in League Two, and as I said, results became more to the extremes, but still about the same. In the end, I resigned, and have now took over at Union in the Argentinian Premier Division.

I implemented this tactic straight away, and despite this being their first season in the APD after promotion, and the chairmans goal being to rebuild the team, I've managed to set the team up with a good low average age (25) and only made one signing (for the subs bench), and am first with this tactic after 19 games (won 12, drawn 6, lost 1). I even held Boca (away!) to a draw with 6 of my starting 11 out with injuries and suspensions.

However, I am getting a lot of sendings off just recently, but so are a number of teams playing against me. This hasn't really happened in the other leagues before. Is this a bug? Something to do with the tactic? Or just plain bad luck?

I'd also like to give tribute to the adaptability and success of this tactic. Away, and against a stronger team, I managed to use it to win 3-1, despite being 9 manned by half time, and 8 by full time. Obviously I moved players around when sendings off occured, first dropping to just a target man up front, then one MC, then 3 centre backs

Please help and thanks in advance.

portishead,

Look on the team instructions on the tactics page.

Target man supply is above the tight marking box. Click on it and it will give you a list of:

Mixed

to feet

to head

run on to ball.

These tactics seem to very much depend on the quality of the players, especially the 2 central mids and the target man. I haven't had a chance to play with v3 yet but v2 is rocking in the second season with Manchester United (yes yes I know it doesn't count with one of the big teams but I have played a lot of FM with United and this is one of the best suited tactics to the origional squad of players).

I had moderate success on v2 with Irish League teams.

Hi Folks.

Using version 2. I would suggest as previously stated on the thread that the DL & DR have back arrows. Take on board the advice about the Target Man. Also if you are using short passing adjust the tempo to slow. If using direct passing adjust tempo to quick.

Get good passing MC for the middle of the park with long shots. Take time to select the right players to deliver set pieces too.

Also something I have picked up in the pre-match talk with the press, state that your team can win even if don't stand a chance. Seems to work and you can get a result!

Good luck Min Fuss Fans

I have been using Fuss with my Birmingham side this last season. Our league form was not too great, only finishing 12th with won 14, drew 11 lost 13.

But both my cup runs ended with the silverware on my table. I destroyed Everton 5-1 in the FA cup final.

It is important to put the little tweeks in this (or any) tactic every so often to stop the AI cracking it. I even switched to "ROT solid" for some games just to try and get out of a slump.

My Tamworth side which is made up of uber regens, dominated League two and got as far as the FA cup semi final, loosing to Everton after an off side equaliser, in the 91st minute, took it to extra time in a match we had dominated. My players then gifted them two back passes for goals.

I got my first ever player apology message for one of them.

The tactic works excellent if you are the one of the strongest sides in your league. Our record was won 33 drew 10 lost 3 (and 2 loses and 3 draws were before I used this tactic).

Over all a very good tactic. I wonder how it will fair in the second season.

Thanks "The Lambs" and "FuSS"

now i know i must drag a man into targetmen box.

i want to say someting before i do that:

1.despite there is no man in targetmen box, when our team's corner, always,it also aim the right FC who near the bar,and then score the goal by head.Is there some default option?Or just coincidence?

2.i found my 4 Forward(Rooneyã€Sahaã€Smithã€Higuain)goal:7ã€6ã€7ã€5,very nearly.Are there some rules?

3.Must Targetman is like Drogba(taler,head:18+,jump:18+,strength:18+)?I find in my team(Man unit),there are all fast and skillful guy.Now i use Alan Smith as Targetman because only his head point over 15.

4.I find "Put target man more centeral" is very useful tip.Smith score two goals when i do this.

above

good luck and thanks in advance

Windclou - Alan Smith is an excellent target man, even when you tell him not to hold up the ball and change the targetman instructions to 'run onto ball'. In fact this seems to work even better for me.

I'm in second season with United and teams are playing more defensive against me due to last seasons success. V2 seems to work even better in these circumstances as the ai does not attack down the wings as much.

So peeps we can concur that having home and away tactics will fool the AI in FM2007? Or that just tweaking the main tactics for an away match will knock the AI off course?

main changes that i feel work, is tempo, if ure = with ure opps in possession, try increassing tempo to first notch of quick. then see how u go from there, each team is different, tho u can have success with a tactic for a period of time, there will come a team that u will need to adjust, increased tempo def against weaker teams, just watch first 20m of game, and check for stuff u need to try,

i've started a season with Motherwell using the v3 tactic.

so far only played 2 games drawing 0:0 and 1:1.

the match review after the game said i was lucky.. but a point is a point!

i'm using chris sutton as a target man as motherwell didn't have a decent one and i have next to no money, does anyone rate sutton??

i will update after 10 games.

cheers for this Fuss, it really does work! I've been doing well with West Ham for about 3 seasons using my own tactics, but this season i couldn't buy a win, so i decided to give v3 a go.

lost the first game to West Brom 4-2 at home, but had 23 shots to their 8. won the next 3 all away from home, and i'm currently unbeaten in 10.

great tactic icon_smile.gif

This tactic is the business! Been using version 2 with Kilmarnock, anything that takes Killie to the Uefa cup final must be good! Thanks for this tactic. I have been using Version 2 and it is simply the finest tactic I have ever seen for the game. This is NOT because it's a supercheat tactic that wins you games 12-0 without you changing anything, as the mindless critics above would like it to.

Why then? Because this tactic is amazingly tweakable, and it remains stable throughout. With most tactics any tweaks remove the reason they are successful in the first place, or they become prone to horrendous results. With this tactic you can actually see whats going wrong and adapt it to your own needs, both in terms of your squad and in terms of your situation in the games. With this tactic as the foundation I have taken Everton from 10th to 1st in one season.

I'm going to try version 3 for a while to see if it's an improvement.

busngabb - Glad to see sombody who understands the very nature of this tactic. I've always said you need to tweak it to your own team and it's not a super tactic (I very much doubt they'll be a super tactic for 07). Thanks for the positive feedback.

cunni102 - Impressive, I'd probably play a little tighter (less wide) when you're team is so overpowered. Thanks for the positive feedback.

RichS24 - This tacic is largey built around westham, Dean Ashton has been the top goal scorer in the world for 2 seasons in a row with it on my game icon_smile.gif glad its going well for you. Thanks for the positive feedback.

iocounty - Try V2 with the suggested tweaks from this thread if V3 isn't working for you. I've no idea about sutton, make sure you setup you're target man proplery though as it's vital for this actic.

DDEEFF - I've been playign with a direct passing/higher tempo

version myself...works well for bigger teams. Thanks for the positive feedback.

duderoo - The problem with home and away tactic is you're changing tactic match after match, and you need two of them, I've never liked that kind of setup, but yes it may be useful for 07 as the AI seems alot lot smarter now. However I personally recommend making a couple of tweaked versions of V3 that work for you and roatating them with standard v3.

nummer7 - Thats alot of draws! Not seen that personally, you dont give us many details but I suggest you change your striker settings alittle..are you getting plently of shots n just not putting them away or what? Thanks for the positive feedback.

redstar1 - Alan smith is simply amazing for this tactic, although i saw what Klose could do the other day as my friend tested it with Chelsea...simply amazaing...but then it was chelsea. Cheers!

There wont be any more versions until the patch is out, unless i or sombody else discovers anything magical or any problems.
