I found out that it's useful to have wingers who can play as a striker too as they have farrows into this position. I also found it important to have defenders who have +14 in pace. Since I consider this I'm even more succesful then before icon14.gif

Hey FuSS thanks for any Fb you have given me, but the main problem i am having is Away form, my away matches is letting me down big time!

My home form is excellent, myaway form is good, only conceding 1 goal in every match but not winning the away matches

I actually worked it out! 21 games unbeaten and 71 goals scored and 15 conceded! wohooo

This is how i worked it out just turned on counter attack and put the fb arrows to forward when playing away from home! works perfect, now i am proper fkd seeing as i have saved it and look to cursing the game tonight when the re-ranking occurs!

Yo Fuss, how do you suggest me to play at the home matches to get more chanses, i am using you v2 of minimal fuss, does I have to deselect counteratacks and play a bit more attacking football? I will like it if you tell it to me. icon_wink.gificon_cool.gificon_biggrin.gif Really awesome

Hi, first of all I've wanted to say to Fuss, thank you. The tactic is awsome!

I've just satrted a new season with Man Utd. I'm doing pretty well in the league (14 Pld, 11 Won and 3 Draw), leading the table wth 3 points ahead Liverpool. In the CL I had fantastic resaults (6:0 at home on Celtic, 4:1 away; 4:1 on Hamburg at home).

But my main problem was when I'm playing against big temas away. I was facing Arsenal in the 3rd round of the Carling Cup and started the match with '4-2-2-2 away'. I was heavily beated (4:1). I had another game against them in the league, 2 weeks from that game, and I wanted to take my dignity again and started the game with the '4-1-4-1 kill game'. I had a good game, took shots the same as Arsenal, but Fabergas scored in the 83rd minute and equlaize the score to 2:2. I'm sure that if I was starting the game with the '4-2-2-2 away', the result was not the same.

Can anyone give me some suggestions about the tactic when I'm facing big teams like Arsenal, Chelsea and others in Europe. Which tweaks need to be done?

(*I'm using v4)

Yossia are you using the right tactic its meant to be 4-4-2! In europe playing away i turn CA on and move the FB's arrows the other way! Same with teams in my respective league! As FuSS may have said before he hardly ever uses the CA as most teams play defensive which is really true!

---------------------

BTW ted, in the thread i normally frequent Fuss, i have been dishing out advice and telling me people to read this to solve all their problems, and i think i finally understand this tactic. It only took me three games to overcome the re-ranking and my Barca team look set to win the League

This tactic is great,i like thousands of others have litterally pulled my hair out trying different formations and teams and getting beat all the time

I always start at the bottom, you would in real life football and so i always go with a lower league team.

I finished second with Rochdale using v4 and using simple tweaks at the start of games following the scouts advice.

I have bought 6 players in on free transfers because my squad was paper thin but with the exception of Kevin James,on a free from Forest, the team is the same i inherited.

Thr essential player is the big target man,i had Mourike Sako,he was top class, good strength, jumping and heading.

Att. Fuss

I played this tactic in the lowest division in Denmark and yes I have used the tweaks and Target man and its V4 I am using.

After 9 matches I have won 3 and draw 3 and lost 4.

My opponent has all the possession and all the chances. The 3 matches I won were not deserved.

So is this tactic only for the higher leagues?

If you one day plans to create a tactic for lower league teams I am willing to help testing it.

Slivermann, I am having success with this tactic in Northern Ireland league 2, with Chimney Corner. Currently first in the league at the halfway point and barely lost the Intermediate league cup final. I found the key to using this tactic with a lower league team is to turn off "target man", as most lower league players aren't good enough to be a true target man. Otherwise the tactic seems great to me!

V4 is working a treat for me in my cambridge game, cruising the conference.

It has also made an absolute god of a 39yr old striker from Panama,

Hello, i'm playing as a Birmingham manager and i tried one of the other tactics which is around here on the forum. It was doing great for me in home games blasting away Yeovil in the League cup 8-0 and against league favourites Leeds 4-0. Problem were my away games where my squad seemed to be having drunk way too much the evening before the game and doing really nothing good at all.

Then i tried the V1 of the minimal fuss tactic and after a few games, my squad began to play a lot better and even win some away games.

Because i encoutered the same defensice problems as most of the others did with the V1, i downloaded the V4. Now my players seemed to be drunk evey match! I don't know what they are trying but i doesn't feel like they are trying to play soccer. In my first game i lost 3-1 away to Luton and there was no chance of doing better in that game (in fact i was lucky just to loose with so many goals against). In my second match, i won 1-0 at home to Hull. Maybe i did win, but my players were all horrible and maybe 1-5 would be a more deserved score.

I'm using the target man as described and he scored me loads of goals in the 10 matched i did use V1. Now he loose all of his duels with the defenders and my defense seems to think that they have to escort and protect my opponents so they can relax and concentrate on how it would be best to get around my goalie.

It read in the thread that teams must get used to a new tactic, but V4 just isnt't a real another tactic than V1 or is it?

I really would like what to do to increase my team's performance, cause i must do something terribly wrong in my opinion!

Yo people, I am using minimal fuss v2, at the beginning op the season i played very well, i also own everything with tottenham, but at the middle of the season, my forwards do not score so much anymore and the opponent is playing better en better, why is the AI cracking this tacting so fast :S What I have to do to get better results in my next matches

The AI is not cracking tactics, just try the tweaks fuss mentioned, change your teamtalks or player interactions and it should be fine. BTW: I am using v1 and it is the one for me, tryed all the other versions but only V1 works for my team.

Hi

This is an awesome tactic, got me promoted twice with Southampton.

But in my fourth season, my first in the Premiership after promotion, I experience a couple of things.

1. When my big target man (E. Johnson) is out, I can't get the tactic to work well with other target man types. Like fast striker and run to ball for example.

It works very well with EJ and pass to head, but I am struggling with other solutions. Any suggestions?

2. I used the scout reports to my favour in the chempionship, cruising through the division. One thing was that I was always the favourite and therefore teams played defensively against me.

But in the premiership I vary in form. Thats one thing, but the main issue is that my scout reports that the team I will play i using a defensive 442, and also use counter attack.

Then I go to match prediction odds and I see that the other team is heavily favourite.

Normally, based on the scout report, I would play attacking with counter attack off, that worked for me in Championship, but because of the match odds, this is a bit contradictory, because I am not the favourite and teams will play more attacking against me. So I get confused about how to play to counter the oppsition. How can I deal with a defensive formation who will attack?

3. When I am dictating play, a short/mixed passing style, low/mixed tempo and narrow/mixed width is working well for me.

But when I am not favourite, this is a bit trickier. What passing do you use in those situations that work well?

4. Probably answered somewhere else, but I am wondering, how do individual passing and team passing relate? If a player is on individual passing will he then ignore team passing?

This is what comes to mind playing as southampton in the Premiership.

I would like to say again that the tactic is very good, and it made it fun to play again.

Thanks Fuss.

Well, i can't help, but V4 isn't working for me. Again i was 4-0 down at half time, without even having a chance at all. Now i switched back to V1 at half time and i outplayed my opponents completely.

Maybe you're right to say i'd better use V1, but how is it possible that a little difference in tactics can make a team from doing nothing at all to outplaying opponents completely?

It just seems whatever I do I get tonked every week. I always start a season well but then win very rarely. I took stoke to the prem with a short passing slow tempo 442. I got relegated and then sacked when I was 15th in the championship. With Everton, I play 442 and find myself 17th. I cant work it out

Birmingham - Derby 1-5

Taylor 5

S. Kelly 5

Sadler 4

Upson 6 (Sub 82)

Jaïdi 6 (Sent Off 52)

Danns 4

Gray 7

Denilson 3 (Sent Off 64)

Kilkenny 7 (Sub 52)

Jerome 4

Bendtner 7

Johnson 6 (In 52) (Sub 64)

Dunn 5 (In 64)

Fonseca 6 (In 82)

This was my second game with tackling set to normal because i got way too many free kicks against at dangerous places. (And those two home games got me the first 3 red cards of the season and 2 defeats)

You won't be surprised that i am sick of Birmingham. I will try the tactic with another team, but i'm thinking more and more that FM07 sucks. I played all the games from CM 2, and won the CL with every time. But with FM07, there's no thing that seems to get your team to a winning streak. I only won the Dutch title once with Ajax when i went on holiday every match and sold all my foreign players (no, i wasn't playing a serious game then!)

Dont give up remcos,i know how you feel.I played champ man and football manager and the thing is that there was always a tactic that you could suceed with no matter what the team.

You deserve what you get playing the Blues!!!

Only joking mate,Bendtner should be a quality target man.See what your scout says and follow instructions ie defend deep if oppo forwards are quick, play with width if they play central and do not over attack if they play counter attack.

Also make sure that you have a goog traing program,i use matts.

Im afraid ive got to throw a spanner in tne works. This tactic worked for me at Everton where I won the last 12 hames due to last minute tweaking. However, it seemed to figure me out in the new season so I tried more tweaking, Ive done everything said on this forum i.e. particuarly following the advice of the scouts and doing some last minute changes. However, ive just been sacked by Everton as I havent won in 8 games. Im tweaking as advised by my scout and before the game starts. My opinion is that FM07 sucks, It is not enjoyable aas no matter what I do with tactics etc, it simply tonks me every game. I had brief success at the end of the last season but since then, quite simply, it sucks.

Since the sack off everton I was offered a variety of jobs. From Gretna to Derby, Watford etc. I eventually plumped for Middlesboro. They were 10 games into the Championship and were bottom. However, they had a decent squad with the likes of Lita, Earnshaw and a chilean striker called Pillina. Very good target man. I took them to the prem in that season going from bottom to 2nd to clinch promotion by one goal on the last day! The tactics of listenting to the scouts and media to decide how I play worked wonders. For example, if was favourite, i went direct at a quick tempo and very attacking.

Since then, Boro were harsh. They gave me no money to strengthen my team so I resigned. Again jobs were offered until to my utter disbelief in came REAL MADRID!! Needless to say ive taken the job. Any ideas as to what tactics may work woth them with it being in the spanish league etc.

Keep using a variety of the FuSS v1, v2, v3, v4.

Don't underestimate the importance of the passing style and tempo.

I was struggling in my 5th season in Brasil and all of a sudden I'm humping teams.

I'm using version 4 of this , and it has transformed my fortunes.

I used Bluntblade for 3 season with Spurs, and with tweeks to my playing personel, improved each season, to finished 2nd in season 3 (10 points ahead of 3rd placed Chelski). I then got the ManU job, and kept the same tactic for the first half of the season. I did reasonably well with it, but was drawing an awful lot of games. So, I switched to v4 of this tactic for the 2nd half of the season, and only drew 2 games, going on a good unbeaten run, and finishing 2nd behind chelsea, who I just couldn't catch. I also won the Euro cup.

Now, in my 2nd season at United, I am 7 points clear at christmas, with only 1 defeat and 4 draws, and very confident I will collect my first title.

Having read through this thread and Cleon's thread where he won the premiership with Sheff Utd I have a few questions. Can anyone help?

1 - There is lots of talk about playing Direct if it is raining. Sure I can set up the general team settings but do I have to go through and change the players settings?

2 - In version 4+ of this tactic the strikers are on team mentality. Why is this? I can't see anything in the thread.

3 - Some of the advice in this thread contradicts Cleons advice. Shouldn't you play defensive and direct if you play Counter Attacking?

I really want to have success with this game and want to understand what I am doing wrong. This tactic seems pretty good but I want to tinker and know what I am changing.

Awesome tactic - won the Premier League with Forest and won the world cup with Blighty. Got bored of winning so went to Leicester in the first division. Promoted in the first season to the Championship and won 5 of the first 6 games with a very standard team.

Incidentally, for a target man up front get Mitchell Bryant (youngster form Man U). Don't think he's a regen and he's the best I've ever seen. KUTGW!

I realise that FuSS is no longer updating the thread so I was hoping that maybe somebody else could be able to help me.

I've downloaded the tactic and set it to my Leeds team - have read through the entire thread adding mt Targetman to the list.

I can't seem to make the tactic work, however. My targetman is currently Eddie Johnson, with David Healy as the support striker. Johnson is scoring in most matches but my defence are letting in far too many goals. I've had the tactic on since the start of the season and have played about 10-15 games so far (including friendlies and League Cup). I've been tweaking the tactics slightly but nothing seems to work.

I started off promisingly, winning every friendly and my first two league matches. Since then, however, I've drawn 2 and lost 8!

I realise that the Leeds team isn't particularly amazing but I've managed to bring in a few decent players, got Denilson on loan from Arsenal and tend to set him in the DM position as I find this stops my opponent from scoring as many.

I was just hoping someone might have any suggestions on how I can make this tactic work for me.

Cheers!

Sorry, forgot to add that I'm using v4 of the tactic.

I've played 10 league games and have won 4, drawn 2 and lost 4. Got knocked out of the league cup by Nottingham Forest after they hammered me 4-1. =(

My strike force are fantastic, currently Johnson has 9 goals from 9 games and Healy 10 from 10 games.

Problem is I let in even more than I score!
