It's certainly odd that a player with his ability is so poor over so many games and then goes and puts in a performance that no one else in that division could pull off......guess it's the Leon Best effect.

Shh, he's World Class, and Tottenham should definitely buy him and not Carroll :)

2013/4 - Newcastle Town (Northern Premier League Premier Division)

It's where the celebration is a tense affair

Board: Fight bravely against relegation

Media: 18th

Bookies: 40-1

Season tickets: 94 (up 1)

We have a new kit sponsorship deal for the next four years worth £2000 per season (no change).

We make a poor start to the season and sit in the drop zone after a few games.

Thankfully things improve and at Christmas we have reached midtable with Emilsson finally having started scoring goals.

I sign a one year extension to my contract with a £25 per week pay rise to £275.

But then our form dropped off again and we went into freefall, losing eight straight games and scoring just one in seven before briefly stopping the rot with a 4-2 win at second placed Marine.

My 200th match in charge is the final match of the season at Stafford Rangers. A draw isn't enough and we get relegated.

Packed stands too I see.

Lovely song on the first page btw  And I don't mean the guy that was screaming some gibberish.

Our ground is less than 10% full every match. :D

Florence Welch has a great voice and really makes that song. For once, a cover is better than the original.

What a strike! He a youth lad or did you bring him in from elsewhere?

He is young but I got him on a free (unattached). I think he was at Wigan and got released without playing a match, but I'll have to check next time I play if I remember to do so.

What are the attendances like Nobby? Looks like one man and his dog in that match.

Cracking goal though.

Usually get in the high 200s but have got over 400 this season, still in October.

Interesting choice of You Tube for the preview shot.

Happens a fair bit, but it is quite rare. I didn't know it was a cover, doy!

Jimi Hendrix's All Along the Watchtower is far superior to Bob Dylan's original, and Dylan himself plays a slight variation of the Hendrix version now.

I was wrong about Lacey, he has only had one club, Newcastle Town. He did come through the youth ranks.

His central midfield partner, Paul Gallagher was the one released by Wigan.

Local boy done good then!

Jimi was something else alright, there's a few recordings/performances that give me tingles up by back, but noone does it half as often as he does. Funnily enough, another "cover better than original" scenario is - I believe - Stevie Ray Vaughan's cover of Hendrix's Little Wing.

Certainly when I learned it on guitar, that's the one I learned.

Thanks Bob.

Yes, I do have a game of TEW 2010 on the go. There is a thread following my game in the dynasty section of the forum if you're interested.

Just wished I could free up Sunday nights to race in the F1 league full time, but alas, I have to earn the pennies to enable me to live.

2014/5 - Newcastle Town (Northern Premier League First Division South)

It's where we rub it in the noses of our local rivals

Board: Safe mid table

Media: 12th

Bookies: 33-1

Season tickets: 90 (down 4)

We start well, being unbeaten in the first seven league games.

Things get even better as we go on a great run and haul ourselves top.

We maintain our strong form as we build a small but significant lead.

In the penultimate game we beat King's Lynn 4-0 to seal the title and promotion.

The celebration party is the home derby versus Kidsgrove Athletic. We win 2-1. All Town fans are jubilant.

I'm ****ing delighted.
