Just finished the summer transfer window, but I'll wait with screens until the season update. Mostly signed "hot prospect" players anyways. Although we got 36 year old Craig Gordon and 28 year old Tom Cairney. Two rather well known Scottish players.

Champions Cup qualifiers went well. We beat IFK Mariehamn (Finland) 7-3 and 5-1. Yea I know, I need to do something about my defense, it's pathetic. Against a team filled with grey players. We then beat Basel 3-1 and 2-1 to make it to the group stages. We'll be playing our feeder club Liverpool, AS Monaco and Sevilla. Needless to say I have no hopes what so ever of going through. But at least the money will be good.

League have started horrible, with 1 win and 2 losses. Losses to Rangers (2-1) and Celtic (3-0). I'm especially furious about the 3-0 loss to Celtic cause neither team had a single clear cut change. They scored on 2 corners and a 40 yard free-kick. This is why I never watch games and only play with commentary. It's just infuriating to watch games be decided this way.

German Cup - Quarter Final

We beat Siegen 9-0 in our biggest competitive away win. We then beat Hoffenheim in a 3-2 extra time win to set up a time with 1860 Munich who we disposed of easily 4-1. We met our match when we were defeated by Dortmund in the quarters.

Europa League - 1st KO Round

We beat BATE in the qualifying rounds to get to the Group Stages. We finished 2nd in a group consisting of Sporting who also qualified, Liverpool and Kayserispor. We were then knocked out by Benfica in the first KO round.

Well those sections appear when I quote you...?

Some good seasons there guys .. and a few bits of bad luck.

After not getting any FM time in after my last post yesterday i'm back on now ... 4 Games to go 5 points clear of 2nd 6 of 3rd sooo ... 7points for the Title!? Doable, the good thing is it's ours to lose.

EDIT: We win game 1, so do Alania but Nizhniy slip up ...

EDIT2: Game 2 won! - Just kicked off game 3 (of 4 should win opponants are already relegated).

EDIT3: We've won the Title ... Spartak Moscow, Dinamo Moscow, Zenit, CSKA and Rubin we're coming for you!

Awesome. Quick question though, is the CFA the lowest playable league in France? It says it is, but if you go to take control of a team there, the league is greyed out.

CFA is unplayable so take over a team promoted to the National league and i think Sunday League will be greyed out so choose Automatic!? (think thats right i've never played in France).

It is the lowest, but you're right you can't take one over. You take over one of the teams promoted into the National league.

2017/18 - Hallescher FC - German First Division

Transfers - 5 IN for 10m & 26 OUT for 4.1m

Only a handful of players in this season, we broke our transfer record again by signing Haris Vuckic for 8m from Reggina. Other big name signings were Chris Samba and Marcell Jansen.

League - 3rd

Another step forward and this time a Champions League place. Although its not all that its seems, we struggled for goals with three players really putting any input in, we had plenty of lengthy injuries too with El Mohammady, Jacobs, Paulo, Le Tallec and Camacho all biding their time on the sidelines.

Most Assists - Enzo Gayraud, 10

Most MOM - Two Players, 4

Ave Rating - Christopher Samba, 7.30

Finances - Increased massively again through prize money, 23m this time.

Brettney's Russian Adventure Take Two! - Season 4;

ChitaLogo.png

Well things got even better this season with us going from the start of the season until the 13th round of matches unbeaten and in the process beating the First Division record going 19 games unbeaten in total (including 7 last season).

Our finances are still pretty poor and the board couldn't afford to give me more than £30k to spend on players wages was at £22.5 which was enought really, i struggled to off load players i didn't need so had waay too large a squad.

Transfers.

We finished top after the ndust was cleared winning the league with one game to play, we had one of the best scoring records, best goal difference and 3rd best goals against so this Title win was no fluke!!

Table - Graph.

Board Confidence.

Squad Stats.

A Typical Chita Lineup; 4-4-2 (With Wingers).

GK, Nigmatullin - Brought in because former number 1 wanted out (turned out to be miles better).

RB, Ojewole - Better at CB but i struggled to find a RB i could afford and would be good enough (got a few backups).

CB, Nizhegorodov - Old so won't be here long but proved good enough for this level.

CB, Fedotov - Brought in to be backup for Ojewole but with his switch to RB he played alot more than planned.

LB, Idowu - Couldn't play the first 2 months of games because he'd played fror 2 clubs already in the last year, took the LB spot as his own once he was able to play.

RW, Kudryavtsev - Was voted fans player of the season, need i say more!?

CM, Scherbakov - Still one of the best players at the club and is the club captain. Scores some screamers from the edge of the box.

CM, Smirnov - For a player i signed mostly becaause of his name (sounds like Smirnoff right!?) he's become an important part of the way we play.

LW, Brusnikin - Like most positions we have a depth of talent here and he played CM quite alot of the games.

CF, Sikimic - Beat his own club top scoring record.

CF, Radonjic - Was fazed out towards the end of the season just isn't as good as he once was will keep him around to help the youngsters develope but i doubt he'll get too many games in the Premier.

Congrats on Promotion brettney

In other news i've just smashed my record transfer again signing an 18 year old Turk to play AML in a new formation. I predict goals with formation. Brought in 3 top quality strikers to replace the crap I had from last season, a young-gun, a early 30s experience and a ageing former Schalke player to come off the bench. Fingers crossed.

Homegrown isn't necessarily German is it? Thought it was just that they had to train for 3 years with your club before they turned 21, nationality not mattering? Or maybe it's different in Germany.

Yes you are correct but i've continuously improved my squad season upon season and have not settled with a core of youth to build and train to become home grown as I haven't got the money to buy talent. In 2 years time i'll be fine as this season I've bought for the future as I have the core of players to build around.

Link to post

Yea, I have the same. It's hard to make homegrown players when they never want to sign new contracts. Getting a bit better now though, with at least some players accepting "hot prospect" status.

YAY for freak results! Funny how morale and form works. We've lost twice to them earlier in the season, then this.

Link to post

I wish I had to worry about homegrown players, but Darfo Boario are still struggling to get out of the Italian Serie C2/A. I can't seem to sign players as my current crop take up my whole wage budget...really thinking about waiting til my new wage budget comes in and then throwing out anyone not in my First XI and signing as many players as I can of top class quality, if we don't promote this season then there will be a rebuild of the whole squad over the offseason as my MC's & defenders are getting old...

Link to post

My new formation isn't working as well as I would have liked it to. Gonna give it a few more games then change back if results do not improve.

That was going to be my next thought, I am going to change from my useful 4-2-3-1 to a more standard 4-4-2 with wingers who can cross it in, a big lump of a striker who can hold up the ball and/or head it into the net, and a small fast striker who can poach the goals as well...

Target man tactic for the win in lower divisions I think.

Nice one rlipscombe.

I have no luck at all changing formations. Had a bit of a down early this season and started trying different things each match. No luck. So I went back to my normal tactic and just kept playing it, and all of a sudden we were on a 13 game winning streak in the league. Consistency seems to always win.

...

Helps to not post on here as well. Just drew 2-2 at home to Partick Thistle. Serves me right. I'll shut up now. :(

Yeh it'll only be a couple of days to reignite my passion for the save. Maybe going to start a Gundo or Dafuge save then come back to this on tuesday/wedsnesday

You'd better! People don't escape this challenge....

A player who looked out of his depth last season has managed to become integral to the team, just after he agreed a deal to leave at the end of his contract at the end of the season! I believe that's what you might call sod's law. :(

1st in Clydesdale Bank Premier League (pred: 3rd) | Transfers | Finances | Graph

The League

It really didn't start to well. After the first 14 matches we had a 5-3-6 record, and were 7th in the table. That's when I decided to just stop messing around with my tactics. We started winning and never lost again for the rest of the season, including a 13 match winning streak. I think we deserved this title a lot more than last years.

The Scottish Cup (fixtures) - Defended the title, and this time we had to beat Rangers on the way.

The League Cup (fixtures) - Lost on penalties in the Semi Final after being 2-0 up.

Surprised to see Liverpool end last in the group with just 1 point. We were kinda lucky in the last match against Monaco as they had a man sent off after 6 minutes. I'm pretty sure they'd have beaten us with 11 men on the field. But even then we would have finished 3rd in the group and been in the EURO Cup KO stages. Happy with the performance, but don't feel like we're even remotely close to winning this.

The Players (Squad Ratings)

Rodrigo - I was expecting him to have a better season now that he's settled in, and he really did. Amazing goalscorer. He won the Football Writers Player of the Year award, and was the leagues Top Goalscorer.

Angel - Had a real break through. Once again tall central defenders seem to do the best for me.

Jacopo Galimberti - Another good season by the other main central defender.

Denis - I decided to play him as much as possible this year to see how good he really is, and he was amazing. Only Rodrigo beat his goal scoring.

Javier Mantecon - Still probably our best player. I doubt we can keep him. His Foreign Club release clause is £6.5M.

Miguel - Need to mention him cause he won the Young Player of the Year award. He's very consistent, but also wanted by 10+ clubs. He also has Foreign release clause of just £3.6M.

Team of the Year ( Galimberti, Mantecon, Cairney, Rodrigo )

Manager of the Year

The Finances

Saved by price money again. £13M this year thanks to a good run in the Champions Cup. The board are saying they will consider expanding the stadium now, so fingers crossed.

The Scottish Teams in Europe

This was a good year for Scottish football. Adding to our own performance, Rangers managed to reach the EURO Cup 1st KO round. Celtic did even better, after qualifying for the Champions Cup group stage and finishing 3rd in their group (behind Roma and Lyon), they managed to reach the Quarter Final of the EURO Cup. They were finally beaten there by Man Utd, but only 4-3. The other teams didn't reach the group stages, but this surely must be a nice boost to the reputation of the nation.

The Future

Keep going I guess. I just hope we don't lose to many of our key players. And I pray (not literally though) that the biggest stars will want enter contract negotiations before it's to late. Either way, this season surely must have increased our reputation, so hopefully we can attract more Mantecons, Galimbertis, and Rodrigos soon.

Season review 2015/16 - Wuppertaler SV Borussia

League - 3rd

The league went fairly well with us finishing higher than last season. However we could have been 2nd in the league but couldn't hold it together to do so.

German Cup - 3rd round Exit

1st rd away @ Billstedt

2nd rd away @ FSV Frankfurt

3rd rd home vs Leverkusen

Leverkusen were just too strong for us in the end and left us with only the league to go for.

Transfers

Got given a great budget of £10 million but used most to up the wage budget. Best signing has to be Defoe though.

Finances

Once again finances were supplemented by the competition prize money.

Key Players

Borja. The young Spaniard has been a rock in Central defence. Originally signed as a player for the future he set himself in the defence and didn't let anyone force him out..

Michele Rigione. Once again a good seson for the Itallian at the back. Also became vice captain this season.

Ernesto Theiler. Another good season for the young Argentine. Ran left backs ragged when he could down the right.

Yakubu. The big Nigerian had a better season than last year scoring 14 goals. He also linked up with Jermaine Defoe well.

Jermaine Defoe. Defoe had a great season for us this year. He played well whenever he was on the itch and was also the clubs top scorer.

One's for the future

Just the one again, meet

Cory Skilton. This young Australian has looked assured when he's come into the side this season. Hopefully he'll keep it up in the years to come.

other news

I was offered the Bosnia and Herzegovina job in October. However due to wanting to only be a league manager for the foreseeable future I turned them down. I also told Schalke where to go after they offered me their manager's position.

I also recieved the Manager of the Year award and Players' Manager of the Year award.

Well done minisav. Good luck in Europe.

Well done Almondo. Good luck in the Champions Cup.

Season started crap, again. My board accepted bids on 3 players this summer without asking me. Although I think we got good replacements and some other improvements, it just takes to long for them to gel with the rest of the team. After 15 matches we were 12 points behind Celtic. Now we're 8 points behind them having beaten them away after 17 matches.

Reached the group stage of the Champions Cup again, but got a horrible group of Tottenham, Juventus, and CSKA Moscow. Juventus and CSKA were Semi Finalists last year in the CC. We're out with a 1-1-4 record in that group.

Here's a typical result. :( 5-0 clear cut chances in our favor, they win 3-1. Getting a bit annoyed. :thdn:

Albion Rovers 2020/2021

1st in Clydesdale Bank Premier League (pred: 3rd) | Transfers | | Graph

The League

Started crap with 2 wins in the 7 first games. Then we were great the rest of the season. So was Celtic, amazing really. Took us 33 games to reach the top of the table, and we had to beat them twice. The only 2 matches they lost all season in the league.

Surprise of the season: Rangers bottom half.

The Scottish Cup (fixtures) - Winner

The League Cup (fixtures) - ...

The European Adventure (fixtures)

Tough group with 2 of last years Semi Finalists, but still a rather crappy performance. Not happy with this.

The Players (Squad Ratings)

We lost lots of important players in the summer. David, Di Gennaro, Amadio and Miguel were all sold against my will. Even worse, we lost Mantecon in January.

The new signings:

Jamie Bowman (MLC) - Decent Scottish midfielder.

Julien Herrmann (GK) - Hot prospect.

Ivan (DL) - Hot prospect.

Nick Viergever (DLC) - Experienced player who can play DL, DC, DR, DMC, MC well.

Diego Jimenez (SC) - Superstar! Took some time to settle, scoring only 8 in his first 24 starts. That means he got 31 in his next 24 starts.

Steve bath (MC) - Very decent midfielder, needs to fill the shoes of Mantecon.

Luigi Ianni (SC) - Very decent striker.

Ivica Lesjak (DC) - Great defender.

Ian Chambers (SC) - Great attacker, especially impressive at setting up goals.

Alex Beijer (DMC/MC) - Very hot prospect.

Anne Visser (DMC/MC) - Very hot prospect.

Team of the Year : Martins, Galimberti, Viergever, Lesjak, Cairney, Jimenez, Rodrigo.

My Player of the Year : Diego Jimenez

Players' Player of the Year : Diego Jimenez

League Top Goal Scorer : Diego Jimenez

Football Writers' Player of the Year : Rodrigo

Manager of the Year : Tommi Helm

The Finances

Horrible. We need success in Europe to keep up with our current spending on wages. The minor expansion to the stadium (up to 11,125) didn't help at all. Might have to sell some stars and keep bringing in free transfers.

The Scottish Teams in Europe

Celtic didn't reach the CC group stages, but went to the 1st KO round of the EC. Rangers went out in the EC group stages. And we were crap. Bad year.

The Future

LLR's Motivational Speech

Well I have been following along with everyone's stories, but not really given any cheering support, I have found my team struggling a little bit, so am in the process of buying some wingers. Asked the board to extend our scouting network (Now all of Europe + Brazil, Argentina, Chile & Uruguay), and for my coaches (Now 7) & Scouts (Also 7). This has meant we have a better chance of discovering the missing pieces, but sitting in 6th place for another season just out of the playoffs heading towards home means we may be in trouble. Anyway onto the rest of you (I have started from top of the page, sorry if I miss you):

SnakeXE - Great work with Messina, you seem to be moving up a lot faster than my Darfo team. Hopefully it is just a matter of your team already having a good club structure in place. Congrats on the Serie B promotion.

Re: Transferring Players - In the lower leagues of Italy I don't seem to be having this problem, admittedly if I don't want the player I am generally offering them before the start of a window for about 50% of their value and I seem to be able to offload all of the ones I want to get rid of.

Dani & Keef - Welcome aboard guys best of luck as you join our challenge and make the community spirit even better. Hope things go well in France for you.

Kabajingai - A pretty good first season there, hopefully now you can build on it and slowly climb up the ranks, finishing in the top half season one is always a good sign. As for the finances, everyone seems to lose money til they make the top divisions these days.

global1 - Good luck in Turkey, must say I hate it when I haven't saved, I have fortnightly saves set-up, but the other morning we had a power cut and I had been working on pre-season so no auto saves for 3 hours of play...

DizzyIzzy - Congrats on the back to back promotions, hopefully you have a good enough squad to stay up niow and make it through in Serie B.

PRDH - Great to see survival at that level in the first season up, it gives the rest of us hope, but that yellow...? ummm yeah.

Ohanzee - Congrats on winning the Scottish Premier League (Twice now I see), good luck going for the Champions League and completion, maybe you can be our first 2011 completion. (I have always used Imageshack, they used to have problems with bulk uploading, but now their new system seems to work every time for me)

ToMexico - Congrats on the awesome effort of making it up to 3rd in the top division, hopefully with the Champions League you can make your team stronger now and build towards a title winning team.

Brettney - An amazing season there to take the title and promotion in Russia, good luck now as you take on Zenit & the Moscow clubs for the big time.

Minisav - Good work on breaking ahead of the rest in the Scottish landscape, now you just need to haul in the two big clubs, slow and stead should be able to win that race.

Cheers guys.

I feel like it's harder to keep hold of players this year. No one with 1 year left on their contract wants to discuss a new one. Going to have to sell Bediako (DL), Galimberti (DC), Cairney (MC), and Zaldua (SC) just to avoid losing them for nothing now. First 3 are first choice players to. But we have decent backup, if we can't find replacements.
