March 11th: West Ham United (A) (31/38)

We got off to a bad start as within six minutes West Ham took the lead as D.Ashton barged through the defence and fired under the onrushing M.Wilson. On the 19th minute we had our first chance as C.Fantu crossed into the area for S.Stoehr who headed just wide of the post. Seven minutes later West Ham had another chance to score with a thunderous effort which was blocked by T.Owens. Just after the half hour West Ham came close to grabbing a second goal as they broke through the defence but T.Owens again cleared the ball. On the stroke of half time we grabbed the equaliser as G.Bear threaded the ball to the feet of A.Anymoredohnuts who unleashed a powerful effort past the West Ham keeper.

Half Time Score 1-1

Five minutes into the second half we grabbed the lead as T.Owens headed in a G.Bear corner after A.Anymoredohnuts initial effort was well saved. On the 59th minute West Ham came close to levelling the score with a great team move which saw M.Kowalski and T.Owens teaming up to clear the effort. Ten minutes later I made a change as Panpardus came on for J.Scottlee of Hesselink and I changed the formation to a 4-5-1. On the 78th minute West Ham broke through the defence but M.Wilson reacted quick enough to smother the ball

Post Match Review: A good solid performance as we didn’t let West Ham dominate too much and we earnt a great three points in our bid for survival. The Man of the Match Award will be going to T.Owens who scored and played well in the heart of the defence

March 18th: Hull City (A) (32/38)

Eight minutes into the game we grabbed the lead as A.Marks crossed the ball into the area but his effort screwed off his foot and into the top corner of the net for a right fluky goal. Ten minutes later we had the next chance as C.Fantu threaded the ball to the feet of A.Anymoredohnuts who fired the ball just wide of the post. On the 26th minute Hull came close to levelling the game as they broke through my defence and fired towards goal but M.Wilson reacted well to block the effort. With eight minutes remaining in the half Hull grabbed the equaliser as L.Griffiths barged past T.Owens and L.Schnitzel to fire the ball past my keeper. On the stroke of half time we had another chance to score as J.Scottlee of Hesselink jinked into the area and fired towards goal but the Hull keeper tipped the ball around the post.

Half Time Score 1-1

I made one change at half time with Panpardus coming on for G.Bear. On the 58th minute we came close to retaking the lead as M.Kowalski sprinted down the wing and crossed into the area for A.Anymoredohnuts who somehow managed to head the ball wide of the post when it was easier to score. Ten minutes later A.Marks ran into the area and was brought down for a penalty, A.Anymoredohnuts stepped up for the penalty and fired it towards goal but the Hull keeper guessed right and block the effort. On the 72nd minute Hull countered us and S.Vokes fired towards goal but M.Wilson flapped at the ball and the ball went into the back of the net to give Hull the lead. With ten minutes remaining in the game we had our final change as Panpardus tried his luck from outside the area but the Hull keeper was alert enough to block the effort and clear

Post Match Review: We really deserved a point but an error in the keeping area and our poor finishing cost us. We need a lot of luck to go our way now if we are to survive. The Man of the Match Award will be going to A.Marks who ran the midfield well

April 1st: Everton (H) (33/38)

We didn’t get off to a good start as on the eight minute we went a goal down as a poor clearance by T.Owens was volleyed straight back over his and the keepers head into the back of the net. On the 19th minute we came close to losing another goal with another poor clearance which was intercepted but luckily for us M.Kowalski spotted the danger and cleared the ball with a thunderous challenge. Eleven minutes later Everton were close to grabbing another goal as they ripped through the defence but M.Wilson saved well. On the 43rd minute we finally had our first effort as G.Bear curled the ball into the area but A.Anymoredohnuts didn’t connect with the ball properly and the Everton keeper easily saved the effort.

Half Time Score 0-1

I made two changes at half time with B.Arsenal and Panpardus coming on for T.Owens and A.Marks. The second half was twelve minutes old when Everton had another chance as they broke through my defence again but yet again M.Kowalski cleared the ball with ease. On the 73rd minute Everton had there next chance with a powerful effort which had M.Wilson at full stretch to save. Two minutes later Everton were reduced to ten men after D.Mackay was sent off for a second bookable offence. Despite the numeral difference we couldn’t get near the Everton goal and deep into injury time Everton grabbed the second goal as J.Rodwell jinked through the defence and fired past M.Wilson

Post Match Review: Poor very poor, we just weren’t good enough. There was no real effort from the majority of you. The only one who made an effort was the Man of the Match M.Kowalski who played his heart out. Lads please take heed from your Captain

April 9th: Watford (H) (34/38)

We started a lot better than the previous game and on the 12th minute we had our first chance of the game as A.Marks tried a thunderous effort from 25 yards which beat the keeper but not the upright which was still shaking when the keeper hit the ball upfield. Ten minutes later though Watford grabbed the lead as they intercepted a loose ball in midfield and S.Long curled the ball past the outstretched arms of H.Chaha and into the back of the net. On the 27th minute though we levelled the game as G.Bear fired in a great freekick from 25 yards after J.Scottlee of Hesselink was brought down on the way to goal. With three minutes remaining in the half we had another chance as A.Anymoredohnuts jinked past the defence but before he had the chance to shoot the keeper ran out and smothered the ball.

Half Time Score 1-1

I made one change at half time with S.Carl Goatsburg coming on for T.Owens. On the 67th minute we came close to taking the lead as G.Bear played a one two with S.Stoehr but his final effort went well wide of the post. Eight minutes later we had another chance as A.Anymoredohnuts ran through defence with ease but his final effort was pretty poor and it went over the crossbar. On the 79th minute Watford came close to grabbing all three points as they beat the offside trap and fired towards goal but H.Chaha saved brilliantly to deny them. On the stroke of full time we had another chance as C.Fantu curled the ball towards goal from the corner of the area but the Watford keeper saved well to keep the scoreline level

Post Match Review: A much better performance but we didn’t manage to kill the game off when we had the chance. We are creating the changes but not finishing them and that’s not just down to the attackers. The Man of the Match Award will be going to G.Bear who was brilliant in midfield

April 22nd: Burnley (A) (35/38)

Seven minutes into the game we were a goal down as A.Keogh ripped through our defence and fired under H.Chaha. On the 15th minute they had another chance with a curling effort which beat H.Chaha but not the upright. Four minutes later I was forced into change as S.Stoehr picked up and injury, his replacement was S.Saville. On the 24th minute we went a further goal down as A.Keogh again beat my defence to the ball and he wasted no time in firing past H.Chaha. It was getting too easy for Burnley and on the 34th minute they grabbed goal number three as A.Keogh completed his hattrick with a thunderous effort into the top corner. Three minutes last A.Keogh grabbed another goal with a wells truck effort which beat H.Chaha to his near post. On the 44th minute they had another chance as they broke into the area but for once we managed to recover with M.Kowalski clearing the ball

Half Time Score 4-0

I made one change at half time with B.Arsenal being replaced by S.Carl Goatsburg. The second half was no different as Burnley controlled the play and just after the hour they grabbed another goal as R.Elm curled the ball in from close range after we failed to clear a simple ball. On the 70th minute they grabbed another goal as M.Paterson barged into the area and fired past my keeper. Three minutes later it was 7-0 as J.Rodriguez jinked into the area and fired past H.Chaha who looked as though he had given up. On the 87th minute we conceded a silly penalty as L.Schnitzel handled the ball in the area for some reason, R.Elm stepped up for the penalty and completed the rout with a well struck shot.

May 6th: Manchester United (H) (37/38)

Anything but a win will see us go down. On the 9th minute United had there first chance as they broke into the area and fired towards goal but the effort was well saved by G.Burgess. Ten minutes later they had another chance with a rasping effort which G.Burgess blocked the effort. On the 27th minute United had another chance to score with a thunderous effort which stung the fingers of G.Burgess. With nine minutes remaining in the half United had the chance to score from the penalty spot after T.Owens fouled in the area, luckily for us the penalty was poor and G.Burgess guessed right and saved the ball.

Half Time Score 0-0

I made one change to the team at half time with A.Marks coming on for C.de Bruijn. On the 54th minute United had another chance to score as they beat the offside trap and fired towards goal but G.Burgess was on hand again to block the effort. Nine minutes later we came close to losing a goal as United broke through the defence again but the effort was pretty poor and it went wide of the post. On the 68th minute United finally broke the dead lock as M.Turner hit a powerful effort which curled past the outstretched arms of G.Burgess. With twelve minutes remaining in the game we were awarded a penalty after an A.Anymoredohnuts effort was handled in the area, A.Marks stepped up for the penalty and fired past the United keeper. On the 89th minute United should have won the game with a powerful effort which curled just wide of the post and we somehow managed to escape with a point but it just wasn’t enough

Hardly Athletic 1 A.Marks 78 pen

Manchester United 1 M.Turner 68

Post Match Review: A sad day in the clubs history as we have been relegated from the English Premier League. I know you will all be gutted but we have one last match and lets make sure we give our fans something to shout about. The Man of the Match Award will be going to G.Burgess who kept the scoreline respectable

Lets hope, we were taught a lesson this season

May 15th: Newcastle United (A) (38/38)

We didn’t get going at all and on the 9th minute Newcastle had the chance to open the scoring with a long range effort which beat M.Wilson but not the crossbar. Ten minutes later they had another chance with a curling effort which saw M.Wilson tipping round the post. On the 28th minute Newcastle United grabbed the lead as L.Dalla Valle ran through the defence and fired past the keeper. Two minutes later it was two nil as J.Guerron barged into the area and fired past the outstretched arms of M.Wilson. With six minutes remaining in the half I was forced into a change as L.Schnitzel picked up an injury, M.Kowalski came on in his place.

Half Time Score 2-0

The second half wasn’t much better, just before the hour I made a double change as G.Spavlachenko and S.Saville came on in place of B.Arsenal and Panpardus. On the 64th minute we pulled a goal back as T.Owens headed in a C.Fantu corner after F.F.Tikle-Wok’s long range effort was tipped round the post. Ten minutes later we had another chance with a rasping effort which was well saved by the keeper. With five minutes remaining in the game United grabbed a further goal as N.Ranger jinked into the area and fired past my keeper. Deep into injury time we conceded another goal as S.Maloney fired in from the penalty spot after a poor challenge by S.Carl Goatsburg

Newcastle United 4 L.Dalla Valle 28, J.Guerron 30, N.Ranger 85, S.Maloney 90+1 pen

Hardly Athletic 1 T.Owens 64

M.Wilson, B.Arsenal (59-G.Spavlachenko), L.Schnitzel (inj 39-M.Kowalski), T.Owens, S.Carl Goatsburg, C.Fantu, A.Marks (capt), G.Bear, Panpardus (59-S.Saville), F.F.Tikle-Wok, A.Anymoredohnuts

Post Match Review: Disappointing way to end the season as we never gave 100%. Right lets shake ourselves down and get ready for next season.

Hardly Athletic Player Review:

Season Review: 2016/17

Goalkeepers:

Habte Chaha – GK: Apps 14 Goals 0 Conc 29 Ave.Rat 6.63

A tough season in the Premiership but you showed glimpses when you had the chance of some great goalkeeping. Keep this up for next season and lets get back into the Premiership

George Burgess – GK: Apps 18 Goals 0 Conc 23 Ave.Rat 6.84

Showed again why you are the clubs number one keeper. You have upped your game this season and lets hope you can keep it up for the forthcoming season domestically and in Europe

Mark Wilson – GK: Apps 14 Goals 0 Conc 29 Ave.Rat 6.34

Struggled with the pace of the Premiership and in truth you will need to improve vastly if you are to feature heavily next season. I expect a lot more from you

Defenders:

Terry Owens - SW, DC: Apps 37(1) Goals 2 Ave.Rat 6.62

A tough season for yourself but you coped pretty well for the majority of the season. A few little errors crept into your game and I hope that you get rid of these during the pre season and can help the club back into the Premiership

Supat Carl Goatsburg - D RLC: Apps 26 (2) Goals 0 Ave.Rat 6.45

Like the rest of the defence you struggled with the pace of the Premiership, however take this season as an experience and build on it. Concentrate on next season and show the Championship strikers what your made of

Mike Kowalski - D RLC: Apps 33 (1) Goals 1 Ave.Rat 6.69

Performed well and upped your game for the Premiership. Your leadership was brilliant and it showed especially in the League Cup Final. I want more of that in the forthcoming season.

Luca Schnitzel - D RLC: Apps 26 (2) Goals 0 Ave.Rat 6.66

The errors have slipped into your game again. I expect them to be removed during the pre season. It wasn’t a good season for you or the team but I have every confidence that you’ll up your game for next season

Ben Arsenal - D R: Apps 38 (3) Goals 0 Ave.Rat 6.56

Didn’t do much attacking down the wings as in previous seasons, however you defended well in truth. I expect you to up your game next season and help get this club back in the Premiership

Gavel Spavlachenko - D RL, M L: Apps 26 (5) Goals 1 Ave.Rat 6.69

You performed well during the season and I am glad that you didn’t forget where the net was this season. I however want to see more from you next season in the Championship and Europe.

Midfielders:

Chris de Bruijn - WB/AM L: Apps 36(1) Goals 1 Ave.Rat 6.62

A good season as such with you playing the majority of the game. Initially struggled early on with the pace of the Premiership but turned out to be one of our most consistent players. Will be looking for you to continue this next season. More goals would be appreciated

Steve Stoehr- DM, M C: Apps 32 (3) Goals 0 Ave.Rat 6.77

Could of done with finding the net more but played ok, like the rest of the team found this season a real struggle. I want to see any improvement moving on into the forthcoming season

Stuart Saville - DM, AM C: Apps 28 (5) Goals 1 Ave.Rat 6.82

Again my Player of the Season, however a return of one goal for the season for you is pretty poor. Next season I want close to ten goals from you. Your general play throughout the season was of a good quality but I want more next season

Ashley Marks - M RLC: Apps 35 (7) Goals 5 Ave.Rat 6.69

The top scoring midfielder and generally one of the better players this season. You didn’t really let the Premiership pace get the better of you. I expect the same from you next season and for you to lift the rest of the side up to your standard

Chester Fantu - AM RC: Apps 27 (6) Goals 4 Ave.Rat 6.70

A good return of goals and like A.Marks I want this to continue into next season. You have been linking well with A.Marks and this could make it very difficult for the other midfielders to get a start, which is always good for the team

Gennaro Bear - AM C: Apps 16 (10) Goals 1 Ave.Rat 6.76

Didn’t play much but when you did you performed reasonably well. A return of one goals isn’t great but I have every confidence that next season you shall show an improvement

Panpardus - AM C: Apps 15 (11) Goals 1 Ave.Rat 6.66

My fault really for not starting you more. However when you did play you showed what you can do. Despite the devil average rating you were one of the better players. I want more of the same next season

Attackers:

Arthur Anymoredohnuts - F C: Apps 23 (6) Goals 4 Ave.Rat 6.39

You are not ever going to be top scorer for the team however you have shown this season that you work your bloody nuts off. Your more of a Teddy Sheringham player and I have to exploit that. Despite the low average rating which I think is alittle harsh in truth you played well…Keep it up

Fling-Flong Tikle-Wok - F C: Apps 13 (10) Goals 8 Ave.Rat 6.66

Didn’t play much this season but you still hit the net the majority of game. Next season I want you to up your game and help us get back into the Premiership

Danny O'Toole - F C: Apps 26 (6) Goals 11 Ave.Rat 6.68

Top scorer with eleven goals says it all for our season. You may not of had the service your used to but you need to work and get the ball yourself sometime. Not your greatest season and it has shown that you need to be more of a team player

James Scottlee of Hesselink – ST: Apps 23 (8) Goals 6 Ave.Rat 6.67

Again the Premiership wasn’t good for you. Next season you need to get back into finding the net and get us back into the Premiership. Up your game otherwise you wont be getting much starting time

Pity about the team overall but player of the season

Could you not put in assists as well as goals? Would be nice to see what I have contributed.

We didn’t begin well and on the 7th minute the home side came close to scoring but M.Wilson reacted well to block the effort. Eleven minutes later they had another chance to score as they broke through the defence with ease and fired towards goal but B.Arsenal reacted well to clear the ball. Very true Tenthree but I have ever confidence that you lot will make light work of splitting the domestic and European duties

September 1st: The draw for the League Cup 3rd Round has taken place and we will began our defence of the trophy away to Championship side Notts County

The main draw of the day sees us place in pot three in the Europa Cup Group Stage and we have been drawn in Group C alongside CSKA Moscow, Parma and Toulouse FC

September 2nd: Injury news sees M.Kowalski back from his recent injury. However A.Anymoredohnuts came into the office and has requested to be put on the transfer list. I have accepted his request and offered him out to other clubs, we’ll have to wait and see whether anyone will be willing to put a bid in for him

September 3rd: Sheffield United (H) (3/46)

We got off to a poor start as within five minutes B.Sharp had beaten the offside trap and fired past H.Chaha. On the 14th minute they had another chance with curling effort from outside the area but H.Chaha saved well to deny him. Six minutes later we grabbed the equaliser as we countered a United move and J.Scottlee of Hesselink fired in under the keeper. The goal seemed to lift us and on the 32nd minute we grabbed the lead as S.Carl Goatsburg headed in an A.Marks corner after D.O’Toole’s initial effort was well saved. Four minutes later we added another goal with D.O’Toole jinking through the defence with ease and rounding the keeper to slot home into the empty net.

Half Time Score 3-1

I made a double change at half time with S.Saville and A.Anymoredohnuts coming on for Panpardus and J.Scottlee of Hesselink. The second half was a little quieter in truth. On the 65th minute we had the next chance with a thunderous effort from A.Anymoredohnuts but his effort was acrobatically tipped over the crossbar. Six minutes later though Sheff.Utd pulled a goal back as L.Wallace ran through the defence with ease and fired past H.Chaha. With a minute remaining in the game we grabbed our final goal as D.O’Toole ran into the area and unleashed a daisy cutter past the diving keeper to wrap up a great performance

Hardly Athletic 4 J.Scottlee of Hesselink 20, S.Carl Goatsburg 32, D.O’Toole 36, 89

Sheffield United 2 B.Sharp 5, L.Wallace 71

H.Chaha, B.Arsenal, G.Spavlachenko, T.Owens, S.Carl Goatsburg, C.Fantu, A.Marks (capt), S.Stoehr, Panpardus (45-S.Saville), J.Scottlee of Hesselink (45-A.Anymoredohnuts), D.O’Toole

I'll let the players comment Salkster :D

September 6th: Blackburn Rovers (H) (4/46)

Rovers had the first chance of the game as they broke through the defence with ease and fired towards goal but H.Chaha reacted well to block the effort. On the 19th minute we had the next chance of the game with a curling effort from Panpardus which had the Rovers keeper at full stretch to save. Five minutes later we had another chance with D.O’Toole running into the area unmarked and fired towards goal but his effort went just wide of the post. On the 33rd minute we were reduced to ten men after S.Carl Goatsburg pulled back the Rovers attacker on the way to goal for a professional foul. Deep into injury time we grabbed the lead as D.O’Toole headed in a Panpardus looping cross.

Half Time Score 1-0

I made two changes at half time with S.Saville and L.Schnitzel coming on for S.Stoehr and J.Scottlee of Hesselink. Three minutes into the second half Rover grabbed the equaliser as A.Boussoufa barged into the area and fired under H.Chaha. However their joy didn’t last long as on the 51st minute D.O’Toole rattled the ball in off the upright after running onto a Panpardus pass. Twelve minutes later Rovers should have grabbed the equaliser with a powerful effort which stung the fingers of H.Chaha. With fifteen minutes remaining in the game we had a clear chance to score after D.O’Toole was brought down in the area for a penalty, D.O’Toole stepped up and fired towards goal but the Rovers keeper guessed right and saved the ball

Hardly Athletic 2 D.O’Toole 45+2, 51

Blackburn Rovers 1 A.Boussoufa 48

H.Chaha, B.Arsenal, G.Spavlachenko, T.Owens, S.Carl Goatsburg, C.Fantu, A.Marks (capt), S.Stoehr (45-S.Saville), Panpardus, J.Scottlee of Hesselink (45-L.Schnitzel), D.O’Toole

After the game I warned S.Carl Goatsburg about his sending off, he accepted the warning and apologised the team

September 9th: International news sees C.Fantu play for Armenia in there World Cup Qualifying 7-0 loss against England, he didn’t have the best of the game and managed to put the ball in his own net on the way to grabbing a rating of 5.3

September 13th: International news sees A.Marks play for Wales in their 2-1 victory over Portugal in the World Cup Qualifier, he came on at half time and earnt a rating of 6.8

C.Fantu played for Armenia in their 2-1 victory over Moldova in the World Cup Qualifier, he played the full game and earnt a rating of 7.0 with an assist to boot

September 16th: Cardiff City (A) (5/46)

We were the better side and on the 13th minute we had the chance to open the scoring as a long ball from B.Arsenal was volleyed just wide of the post from the boot of J.Scottlee of Hesselink. Nine minutes later we had another chance as D.O’Toole ran into the area and fired towards goal but his effort was well saved by the keeper. On the half hour we finally got the lead we deserved as A.Marks fired in from 25 yards after D.O’Toole was brought down on the way to goal. With four minutes remaining in the half we had another chance as J.Scottlee of Hesselink ran onto a S.Stoehr pass and fired towards goal but the Cardiff keeper again saved well.

Half Time Score0-1

I made a double change at half time with L.Schnitzel and G.Bear came on for G.Spavlachenko and Panpardus. However we started the half poorly and on the 53rd minute M.Chopra grabbed the equaliser for Cardiff with a well struck effort which gave H.Chaha no chance of saving. Nine minutes later we had the chance to retake the lead as A.Marks jinked into the area and fired towards goal but his effort clipped the outside of the upright and went wide. On the 73rd minute I was forced into a change as L.Schnitzel picked up a leg injury, his replacement was C.de Bruijn. Seven minutes later we were reduced to ten men after D.O’Toole was forced off the pitch with an injury and I had used all my available subs

Cardiff City 1 M.Chopra 53

Hardly Athletic 1 A.Marks 30

H.Chaha, B.Arsenal, G.Spavlachenko (45-L.Schnitzel inj 73-C.de Bruijn), T.Owens, M.Kowalski (capt), C.Fantu, A.Marks, S.Stoehr, Panpardus (45-G.Bear), J.Scottlee of Hesselink, D.O’Toole (inj 80-No Replacement)

After the game the physio informed me that L.Schnitzel will be out for around a week after bruising his shin, however the news wasn’t good for D.O’Toole who will miss around four months after breaking his foot

September 19th: Injury news sees F.F.Tikle-Wok resuming full training following his recent injury

September 21st: Parma (A) Europa League Group C (1/6)

We began well and on the 19th minute we had the chance to take the lead as F.F.Tikle-Wok ran into the area and fired towards goal but his effort went just wide of the post. Eight minutes later we had another chance as we broke the Parma offside trap and J.Scottlee of Hesselink fired towards goal but his effort was tipped round the post by the keeper. On the 33rd minute Parma came close to breaking the deadlock as they broke into the area and fired towards goal but H.Chaha saved well to deny them. With three minutes remaining in the half we had our next chance as G.Spavlachenko sprinted down the wing and crossed into the area for Panpardus who headed straight into the keepers arms.

Half Time Score 0-0

I made one change at half time with S.Saville coming on for F.F.Tikle-Wok. We didn’t start the half well and on the 47th minute Parma grabbed the lead as J.Ardover beat the offside trap and fired past H.Chaha. Eight minutes later we had another chance to score as S.Saville curled the ball into the area for J.Scottlee of Hesselink who volleyed the ball off the crossbar and out. On the 61st minute Parma were reduced to ten men after J.Raitala earnt a second yellow card followed by the red. Nine minutes later we had our next chance with S.Saville running into the area and unleashed a powerful effort towards goal but his effort went just wide of the upright. We were dominating Parma and with seven minutes remaining in the game we had our final chance to get the point we deserved as T.Owens unleashed a curling effort from the edge of the area towards goal but yet again the Parma keeper denied him the goal. We were very unlucky not to get a point

Parma 1 J.Adrover 47

Hardly Athletic 0

H.Chaha, B.Arsenal, G.Spavlachenko, T.Owens, M.Kowalski (capt), C.Fantu, A.Marks, S.Stoehr, Panpardus, J.Scottlee of Hesselink, F.F.Tikle-Wok (45-S.Saville)
