i bought the hp dv7-4050ea and wondered what i can expect to load on fm.

I have had a pretty decent laptop for a while but the star system always seemed to undervalue my spec.

Processor: AMD Phenom II P920, clocked at 1.6GHz, 2MB L2 cache;

Screen: 17.3in (1600 x 900) glossy LED-backllit LCD display;

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit;

HDD: 500GB 2.5in 7200rpm SATA HDD;

RAM: 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3-1333 RAM;

Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 with 1GB memory and ATI HD 4250 integrated graphics.

@ coldkohmew

Sandybridge will run a lot more leagues than most of the current CPUs. The best Sandybridge (i7 2600k) right now is as good as the best non-sandybridge CPU (i7 980x), but costs 3x lesser. :D

I think its £200 and can run 100+ leagues. :cool:

A little over £250, but still remarkably good value!

thank you again.

10 leagues that was pretty much what i wanted to load. I was hoping for more but i will customize the database to get what i want.

Any clue on the players ? 40K would be great but maybe it's too much.

Intel Core i5 2500 Processor, 3.30GHz, 6MB Cache, Socket LGA1155 VS AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 965 3.4GHz, AM3, 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Black Edition

Which one is better?

i5 2500 is waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than 965. BUT their is a chipset problem with Intel and they are recalling all batches of current Sandybridge motherboards.

I would advise you to wait for Intel to launch revised boards (1 week to 3 months).

The problem is that if you use SATA 2 port for DVD/ HDD then their performance will degrade over the time. I think you can use SATA3 ports without problems (not sure).

Intel said that they will give replacements for the current owners but that doesn't happen in my country. You can take the risk.

I'll make the build for you once you decide what to do.

Hmm, well I don't really want to be waiting that long tbh. Is it a problem with all the Intel CPU's?

Yes, I got very lucky: ordered my 2500 system three days before the news broke. SATA-III ports are fine, so since I'm running one hard-drive and a DVD drive the issue won't affect me. I can just RMA the board when the replacements come into stock in April. For the moment I've got a collector's item!

Unfortunately for Hursty, it does mean that right now is a lousy time to buy a new computer. Sandy Bridge isn't available and Bulldozer's not out until around May. It'll be using a new socket too, so you can't just buy a cheap Athlon now and then slot in a Bulldozer chip when they're released.

If you absolutely have to buy now your best options are basically a Phenom II x6 or one of the first generation i5s/i7s. Ishu can probably give you better advice than me on which would be best for your budget/needs.

Its amazing how helpful this thread is. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me.

Three contenders of cheap laptops:

1:

Processor: Intel Pentium P6100 2.0GHz

Minne: 3GB DDR3 1066MHz

Hårddisk: 500GB S-ATA (5400rpm)

Grafik: Nvidia GeForce 310M 1024MB DDR3

2:

Processor: Intel Core i5-430M Processor 2,26GHz

Minne: 4GB DDR3 1066MHz (Max.8GB)

Hårddisk: 500GB (5400rpm)

Grafik: ATI Radeon HD5470 512MB

3:

Processor: Intel Pentium P6200 Processor 2.0GHz

Minne: 4GB DDR3 1066MHz

Hårddisk: 500GB S-ATA (5400rpm)

Grafik: ATI Radeon HD5730 2GB DDR3

Will they deal with the 3d?

Will they handle 20 or more leagues?

Players?

Many thanks from Sweden.
