Lester Meek: South Africa calling Somalia…

Hussain Bisad: Hello South Africa. Did you just gasp?

Lester Meek: Yes, I did. Sorry Mr Bisad. I knew you were the person with the second-largest handspan in the world, but I didn’t know just how big it was.

Hussain Bisad: It is very big.

Lester Meek: Yes. I can see. Do you have votes for us?

Hussain Bisad: Of course. Here are Somalia’s votes:

7: Madagascar

6: Zambia

5: Malawi

4: Mauritius

3: Tanzania

2: Uganda

1: Seychelles

Hussain Bisad: And Somalia’s three biggest votes:

8 points go to…Ethiopia!

10 points go to……Kenya!

12 points go to…

…Djibouti!

Hussain Bisad: Thank you South Africa!

Lester Meek: Stop waving! I can’t see your face! Somalia’s votes carry great news for Whoopy Dee’e’s Djibouti. Kenya will also be pleased at the chance of getting ever closer to qualifying for the Final.

Comoros.png?t=1270472457

Lester Meek: Hello to you Comorians!

Michael Venter: Hello to you South Africans!

Lester Meek: What is the weather like?

Michael Venter: Tropically warm, but it’s getting very dark at the moment.

Lester Meek: Do you have votes for us?

Michael Venter: I sure do! Here are the Comoros’ votes:

7: Madagascar

6: Djibouti

5: Rwanda

4: Uganda

3: Mauritius

2: Eritrea

1: Somalia

Michael Venter: And here are our three big votes:

8 points go to…Mozambique!

10 points go to……Tanzania!

12 points go to…

…Seychelles!

Michael Venter: Thank you South Africa!

Lester Meek: Super Lampard will be happy. And the other big votes go to the two at the top of the leaderboard. Let’s see how the table stands.

SF1-12.png?t=1270472458

Lester Meek: Joaquim Ntadi’s Madagascar have caught up with Tanzania, with Mozambique still leading the way. Ryan Andrews’s Swaziland become the first nation to be eliminated; they can no longer reach the Semi-Final. Next we receive the votes from leaders Mozambique and from bottom-placed Swaziland.

Mozambique.png?t=1270543230

Lester Meek: Lester Meek to Mozambique!

Eusébio: Mozambique to Lester Meek!

Lester Meek: Who’s this? Just the one and only footballing legend Eusébio da Silva Ferreira!

Eusébio: Thank you Mr Meek, thank you South Africa.

Lester Meek: How is life treating you?

Eusébio: Very well! I believe you want some votes?

Lester Meek: Yes, please do share.

Eusébio:

7: Rwanda

6: Uganda

5: Madagascar

4: Swaziland

3: Burundi

2: Kenya

1: Comoros

Eusébio: And here are Mozambique’s top three votes:

8 points go to…Zambia!

10 points go to……Tanzania!

12 points go to…

…Malawi!

Eusébio: Thank you South Africa!

Lester Meek: Thanks Mozambique. I’m not sure you’ll be too pleased that your generosity towards Thelonius Davis’s Tanzania has knocked you off the top spot.

Swaziland.png?t=1270543230

Lester Meek: Swaziland, as you’re so close, I’m sure you’ll be able to hear us!

Ilana Lapidos: Loud and clear, South Africa!

Lester Meek: We are proud to be graced by the presence of Ilana Lapidos, Swaziland’s Miss World entrant who placed 15th in 1986.

Ilana Lapidos: Today is as much about celebrating Africa as my performance then was.

Lester Meek: Thank you Ms Lapidos. Would you be willing to take this Semi-Final ever-so-close to completion by giving us Swaziland’s votes?

Ilana Lapidos: I would love to, Lester.

7: Uganda

6: Rwanda

5: Burundi

4: Kenya

3: Tanzania

2: Mauritius

1: Ethiopia

Ilana Lapidos: And here are Swaziland’s top three votes:

8 points go to…Mozambique!

10 points go to……Malawi!

12 points go to…

…Zambia!

Ilana Lapdios: Thank you South Africa! See you in the Final!

Lester Meek: Yes we will, where you’ll be voting but, as we already know, not participating. Christina Modoglou will be extremely grateful of her Zambia receiving maximum points as they are next to vote and it is still touch-and-go whether or not they will qualify. Let’s see how the table stands.

SF1-14.png?t=1270543235

Lester Meek: So dafuge’s Mozambique have qualified for the Final, as have Thelonius Davis’s Tanzania despite their points deduction. For our final votes, we go to Zambia.

Zambia.png?t=1270631693

Lester Meek: Zambia, can you hear us?

Kalusha Bwalya: Yes we can, South Africa.

Lester Meek: Ah, Zambia’s most capped player, Kalusha Bwalya.

Kalusha Bwalya: Please, call me Kalusha.

Lester Meek: Kalusha, would you please do us the kind honour of finishing the first Semi-Final of the inaugural Afrovision Managerial Contest by telling us Zambia’s votes?

Kalusha Bwalya: It’s my pleasure. Here are the votes for Zambia:

7: Rwanda

6: Mozambique

5: Kenya

4: Madagacasar

3: Eritrea

2: Comoros

1: Seychelles

Lester Meek: I can now tell you, Zambia, that unless you give 12 points to Malawi, you are definitely in the Semi-Final. Uganda and Rwanda are out, Madagascar and Kenya are in.

Kalusha Bwalya: Here are Zambia’s three major votes:

8 points go to…

…Mauritius!

10 points go to……

……Malawi!

12 points go to……

……Tanzania!

Kalusha Bwalya: Thank you South Africa!

Lester Meek: Thank you, Zambia, and congratulations on reaching the Final. Some more points for Thelonius Davis’s Tanzania there, but everyone is now focused on Zambia’s deadlock with Malawi. As I said, 12 points was needed, and 10 just doesn’t cut it. Malawi were their own undoing, as they received one 12 points, from Mozambique, but Zambia received two, from Swaziland and Malawi themselves. Let’s see how the nations all finished.

SF1-Final.png?t=1270631698

Lester Meek: Thelonius Davis’s Tanzania just pipped Mozambique to the post there, but dafuge’s team still qualify for the Final. Joaquim Ntadi’s Madagascar will be representing the island nations, and Alfred Jarry’s Kenya and Christina Modoglou’s Zambia have also earned the right to come back here in a few days time.

~

Lester Meek: Viewers via BATRACER, please tune in tomorrow for the second of our three live Semi-Finals. Until then, good night!

Just to let you know I will be going on holiday tomorrow for a week. Depending on the internet connection I will try and continue to follow during the week but probably wont be able to post.

You'll probably miss the start of voting for your Semi-Final, but I'll keep it open at the other end for you.
