Bielsista
Well, I think that if you dont llike making tactics you should have bought PES 2010 ... no, really, if you do some good tactics you can live without the others. You are still "missplaying", but well...
Mike7077
I do pretty much everything. However, I ignore training. Basically because it's a laborious chore.

RyanBRFC
I do the press conferences, as much as I hate them but I bet in real life managers don't like doing them (Thats how I think about them) I do the occasional tactic now and then if I start losing, I havnt even touched the training. ridergirl09
try and use the tatics wizard befor every match and if you play well and win you know you have done so because you chose those instuctions and after a while you might get more enjoyment out the game, also try watching the game on full or extended highlights, i get loads of plesure do that. take care ridergirl09
fastandloose
Tbh, I don't think there is a 'right' way to play the game, it's each to his own, just as it is with real life managers. Some do everything, some prefer to do not much else than pick the team.... I'd say just play around with the different aspects of the game and see what you enjoy. Personally, I do pretty much everything, including the hated press conferences (but this is mainly due to the fact that I don't usually trust my assman to not say something stupid that upsets the team). Squobbles
I do all the things I believe I need to do to enjoy the game. Thats all. If i find tactics that work, im not going to tweak them every match. I cba with training schedules either, nor am i interested in repetitive press conferences. I'm one of the few who still likes the press conferences it seems - they don't bore me...I know they do for many. Training? Now that is a bore....zzzzz. What do I have coaches for? Besides...seems rather hit and miss.
Squobbles
I just find them repetitive. Training revamp would be nice next time round. Not really sure what the best way of implementing it is though.
kevieyang
I attend press conferences when I'm in good form. If I'm on a string of bad results, I really lose interest doing all the things so send my assistant. I like holding press conference for my signings though. LucyBlue
I just find them repetitive. Training revamp would be nice next time round. Not really sure what the best way of implementing it is though. I've tried with the training....really I have...it's easy to knacker or make my players unfit...significantly improve them? Rarely happens. Perhaps it's just me but to put so much effort into studying it when merely setting tutors seems to have a much larger effect (if done right) doesn't seem worth the effort IMO. Ty
I have to do the; - Training: Import my schedules for every save. - Press Conference: Not before games (have that set as Assistant) but for signings I do. - Tactics: Spend a good half hour looking at tactics and setting them up - Shortlist: Start straight away building a great shortlist of players. - Staff: Sack all staff (most teams staff are terrible) and look at/sign new ones. - Offers: Set all offers for players I want. After all this (excl. Signing Press Conference).. I normally hit space bar/continue for the first time in a save game 2-3 hours later. I like to be thorough! goofy5507
I attend press conference but i always give the same answer, and once i got a tactic i usually don't change it alot(only small things) and training well i create midfield, defence and attack schedules and then put the players in the respective groups and then i leave it at that. Pawel_lfc
You can't play the game properly because of all the bugs.
Shaka Sangoma
I only do press conferences unveiling players because they're the only fun ones, I only slightly fiddle with tactics and change player roles. I love scouting though, on FM08 I could spend hours going through clubs because my scouts couldn't leave Britain. So I hope the gems I find make up for the lack of talking to people
Leppard
I do press conferences every time (just because I don't trust my assistant). The day I take over the club, I go through the staff, make sure my coaches are at a good level, get rid of crap scouts and physios, hire new ones etc. Then I go on the forums, look for training schedules, get one (usually Tugs) and then I set my players on the schedules. Then its the tactics part. I only use one tactic so I just load it up, set my set piece takers, player roles (if I want to change them) and then I'm set for the season. Carefree CFC
This games increasingly becoming well out its depth. No one wants to sit there for 20 minutes changing their tactics for every team they face. Not one for the casual fan any more, and it's extremely disappointing. La Furia Roja
who does this? you really only need to change your tactics when either playing in europe or playing against a much stronger side, i guess the good thing is that there are a few other manager games out if you want to set it up and watch it run by itself
FrazT
There is no such thing as the right or wrong way to play the game- it is yours to play whichever way you want to get the most enjoyment out of it.
Ainu
I like to get involved in every little aspect of the club (straight from the initial press conference ). I take a good look at tactics before each game, mostly trying to figure out what player will suit this type of game and what role I should give them. I often look at training performances and see if I have to tweak some schedules (I use highly specialised schedules like CB, Skillful AMC, Passing AMC, Creative CF, Scoring CF, etc which I create from scratch every new career). I also regularly try to look at the performances of my youth players to see if anyone would benefit from tutoring or going out on loan. So I really get involved. Only thing I could do better is look at my finances. I make sure I stay well under the wage budget, but when negotiating new contracts I rarely try to push players to the minimum wages they'll accept. I try not to let anyone leave on a free though, so even if it's a crap player I'll keep him on a contract and sell him at a decent value. As for press conferences, I let my Ass Man handle them for most games and only handle games against the big teams or in the final stages of a cup competition. Paolo
Yeah i'd go with that. If you are enjoying what you are doing then who realyl cares. Just for the record i play the game by doing just about everything. Like to sort all aspects of my club out, from training to press conferences to selling players so i balance the books. I feel if i sort everythign about the club myself and i win tropheys then i feel i have achieved something.

kevieyang
As stated before, there is no right way. But there definitely is a wrong way though. If an editor comes into it for any reason.
Beastie
As stated before, there is no right way. But there definitely is a wrong way though. If an editor comes into it for any reason. to a degree i believe this. although i do use the editor to change things to more realistic values. for example i manage Barnet and we have 1 of thw top training facilities in the country now which is better than most prem grounds so ofc i edit this to be more realistic. Shame on SI for not noticing this however the editor is pretty much like having an "i win" button for everyone so it can take the fun out the game but each to their own everyone plays games the way they want and most people would be lying if they said theyve never cheated at anything so i can see why ppl use it. Management
There is nothing wrong with the way that you play it.. I started out that way and slowly started looking into other parts of the game. At the moment I'm at: AssMan takes pre-match conference. I'll tweak the tactics throughout the preseason and revise it in January, depending on results. (I'll do this every year). I'll set up an initial training set up for players and staff and alter depending on time of season. I'll send out scouts out in July and review the reports in January, then maybe send another scout to certain players. I think I actually do more than I thought... Droggy
I cant play the game properly too. Its getting boring with the STEAM problems all the time. I have to sign in very often. Ari Gold
who does this? you really only need to change your tactics when either playing in europe or playing against a much stronger side, i guess the good thing is that there are a few other manager games out if you want to set it up and watch it run by itself I couldn't possibly disagree more. Everytime the AI changes something you HAVE to react to it, regardless of how inferior or superior they may be. It's bordering on the pathetic really. Opposition changes to a more attacking formation. Change something and make sure it's right or you will concede. It's absolutely ridiculous. Just because the other team wants to score a goal, it doesn't mean you have to do something new to stop them. Correction...it shouldn't mean you have to. Unfortunately, the reality is that whenever the AI mixes something up, you are basically forced to respond to it. I can't begin to tell you how many times I've seen "they revert back to a familiar formation" after conceeding when playing an inferior side. Shouts by and large are tedious and bothersome. The game almost imposes them on you by forcing their use or suffer the alternative, which is generally another embarrassing loss.
