I've just managed Ivory Coast to the final...about to play Brazil and have probably never been so excited for a match on FM. Never dreamed of getting them to the final, so win or lose im proud of this.

Edit:

The final tense as you like. Kone put's me 1-0 up in the 70th minute, but 12 minute later Kaka pops up with the equaliser. In extra time I dominate, and even more pressure is on Brazil when Melo is sent off. But I can't make it pay so it's penalties. All square up until Marcelo misses...Drogba scores and it's 4-3. Yapi Yapo just has to score...straight at the keeper. Into sudden death it goes. My CB steps up, post and in. Phew. Then Lucas has too score and it's straight into the keepers arms. Africa has world champions :D

I'm very curious as to what leagues people are running in games where seriously unfancied teams have won, or done well in, the world cup. My bet would be that those people are using custom databases or running very few leagues.

I'd also bet money on a lot of games where England have won being games with just England running.

In games with a large database and many leagues running, then I'd bet would be seen the more realistic results.

I haven't got to the 2010 World Cup yet or I'd post my winners.

You could actually be onto something there Sherlock! Makes a lot of sense to me.

In my game it's:

Winner: Holland

Runner Up: Paraguay

Third: Ivory Coast

Topscorer: Del Piero (7 goals)

I dunno that I'd really call that a huge amount of leagues. You're only running the top division in 9 nations. A lot would mean at least 50 leagues.

Do you have all players loaded from anywhere?

I just looked up the Algerian national squad in my game and it seems there's quite a number of top division players in there that would be at playable clubs in your game. The players of the teams they beat would be well modeled in the game too, so I don't know what to think.

It just interests me as to why the game throws up these anomalies. I mean Algeria winning a world cup? They say an African side is destined to win it one day but I wouldn't have said Algeria would be the ones, and African football hasn't risen as sharply as they predicted it would in the 90s.
