Excellent season chelsea , how was your record away to the bigger teams? Just asking because I have a great record at home but always seem to get beat by 2 or 3 goals (apart from Man City who I've yet to lose against ). I also got Essien this season, been easily the 2nd best buy for me this season :) I should have EoS report up by this evening, depending on how far I get in the FA Cup again

After 56 games in all competitions, it all comes down to 8 games in 25 days to decide how well I do this season

Luckily my run-in couldn't get much easier

15/4 - vs Spurs (7th)

20/4 - vs Liverpool (15th)

22/4 - @ Man City (2nd)

25/4 - @ Newcastle (6th)

29/4 - @ Spurs (7th)

2/5 - vs Arsenal (1st)

6/5 - @ Hull (10th)

10/5 - @ Man Utd (12th)

Who would've thought games against Liverpool and Man United should be considered easy??

Canvey Island 2019/20 Report - EPL

one baby step at a time...

A strong showing last season made the media sit up and take notice of us for a change, giving us a mid-table prediction which the board set as my minimum target. An outside chance of mounting a title challenge seemed a bit much though.

League - Positions -

Only 1 defeat in the first 10 games, and that coming from an injury time defeat at Leeds, was a very promising start, which was backed up all the way through until Christmas, where we sat in the mix of the CL places, despite being 3 or 4 games behind the rest of the pack due to other commitments. 5 defeats in the next 7 though were to be the start of the small slide down the table, especially as we were losing to teams around us. Consecutive draws against Notts County and Sheff Utd meant that we almost had to go 100% through our intense run-in in order to capture the last remaining CL place away from Chelsea. However, failing to break down Spurs and Newcastle, coupled with a frustrating defeat vs Arsenal, meant that we had to settle for 6th place, even though I managed to trash Man Utd on their own backyard in the final game. A step in the right direction at least.

Also, early on in the season I celebrated my 500th game in charge, which we won in style

Cups

FA Cup

3rd rd - Canvey Island 3-0 Exeter

4th rd - Canvey Island 4-0 Bolton

5th rd - Man City 1-1 Canvey Island

5th rd rep - Canvey Island 3-2 Man City (aet)

6th rd - Ipswich 0-3 Canvey Island

Semi Final - Sunderland 5p-5 Canvey Island (6-5 on pens)

Eventful is probably the word to describe this season's adventure. Our replay win against City came 3 days after another extra time adventure (to be explained below) and the semi was probably the most annoying 120 mins I'll ever be a part of. Playing them off the park, only to concede 2 goals in 15 mins at the end and lose on pens. They were to win the final though, making it 3 teams out of 3 who beat me in the semis and go on to win the final.

Carling Cup

3rd rd - QPR 1-4 Canvey Island

4th rd - Man Utd 2-4 Canvey Island (aet)

Quarter Final - Canvey Island 3-2 Hull

Semi Final leg 1 - Canvey Island 0-0 Chelsea

Semi Final leg 2 - Chelsea 1-3 Canvey Island (aet) (agg 3-1)

Final - Tottenham 4-5 Canvey Island (aet)

Lady luck shined on us time and time again here. Whilst QPR was simple enough, it was a minor miracle we progresses any further each time. The final itself was as open as the stats suggest, with an Essien 30 yrd rocket sealing our first final win.

Euro Cup

The start of hopefully many european adventures this season, and we did what we aimed to do and not embarrase ourselves straight away.

3rd quali rd leg 1 - Bnei Yehuda (ISR) 1-6 Canvey Island

3rd quali rd leg 2 - Canvey Island 3-0 Bnei Yehuda (ISR) (agg 9-1)

4th quali rd leg 1 - FC Universitatea Craiova (ROU) 0-1 Canvey Island

4th quali rd leg 2 - Canvey Island 3-0 FC Universitatea Craiova (ROU) (agg 4-0)

So into the group stage we went, and whilst the media commented on how tough our group was, it proved to be an over reaction once again.

Matchday 1 - Canvey Island 1-0 Gaziantepspor (TUR)

Matchday 2 - Amkar Perm (RUS) 0-2 Canvey Island

Matchday 3 - Canvey Island 3-1 VfL Wolfsburg (GER)

Mathcday 4 - VfL Wolfsburg (GER) 1-0 Canvey Island

Matchday 5 - Gaziantepspor (TUR) 0-5 Canvey Island

Matchday 6 - Canvey Island 3-0 Amkar Perm (RUS)

Group A Final Table

So into the knock-out stages we went, where our path would eventually end.

1st ko rd leg 1 - Villarreal (ESP) 3-3 Canvey Island

1st ko rd leg 2 - Canvey Island 4-0 Villarreal (ESP) (agg 7-3)

2nd ko rd leg 1 - Canvey Island 1-2 S.S. Lazio (ITA)

2nd ko rd leg 2 - S.S. Lazio (ITA) 3-2 Canvey Island (agg 3-5)

Squad (1)(2)

Extending the squad may not have been the best idea I've ever had, especially as I once again struggled to fill my Home Grown quota.

Millward's Player Choice Award (basically who I think deserves our Player of the Season before the Fan's vote...)

2010/11 - Luke Thurlbourne MC

2011/12 - Chris Todd DC

2012/13 - Scott Smith DL

2013/14 - Dean Lodge AMR

2014/15 - Dean Hammond MC

2015/16 - Luciano Napoli ST

2016/17 - Borja ST

2017/18 - László Horváth MC

2018/19 - Leonid Gerasimov GK

2019/20 - Oscar Ustari GK (1)(2)

Possibly the best ever free transfer I will ever make with Canvey Island. Outstanding in pretty much every game he played, which was all but 4, and may even stay for more years to come :)

Transfers - A bit overboard on the free transfer raid this summer :o. Pedro was the only one who complained about a lack of games, so was promptly sold for a tidy profit to Arsenal.

Finances - And we are over £100m in the bank :D. The total wage costs is scarily high though...

Confidence - Still seen as untouchable, nothing new here then.

History

2010/11 - BSS: 3rd, defeat in playoff semi-finals

2011/12 - BSS: 1st

2012/13 - BSP: 1st

2013/14 - CCL2: 1st

2014/15 - CCL1: 7th

2015/16 - CCL1: 1st

2016/17 - CCC: 8th

2017/18 - CCC: 1st

2018/19 - EPL: 7th

2019/20 - EPL: 6th, LC winners

The Trophy Cabinet

Blue Square South - 2011/12

Blue Square Premier - 2012/13

Coca-Cola League 2 - 2013/14

Coca-Cola League 1 - 2015/16

Coca-Cola Championship - 2017/18

League Cup - 2019/20

Aims for next season: Can improve semi-final success rate be one? (currently 1 from 5 in terms of progressing). Trim down the squad whilst promoting some of my promising youth players will need to happen sooner rather than later too.

OH NO!!!

People I have messed up my challenge !!!!!!!!!

Basically I can't continue as I do not have 4 players trained by the club for four seasons between the ages of 15-21 to be registered for the EUROPA Cup... I did not have any youth set up until this summer when I thought i could build one from there...

As a result I cannot carry on!

What an idiot!

Going to have to start all over again!! GUTTED!

Leave 4 empty places i.e. just register 21 players. You can then plug any gaps with U-21's, not ideal but lets you keep going.

I don't want to go on holiday for a day as to me thats cheating the game abit and don't feel happy doing that.

Also I tried to use the U18's i had but have only had them for this season as got rid of everyone else in the previous 9 seasons as didn't have a youth coach.

There is no way around this. I am starting again! :(

Your are allowed to not register people and that will count towards your allowance :) ie. only register 21 people.

this works a treat, i had several years when first in europe and i didn't meet the criteria.

I did just that. I holidayed one day to let the computer register the players. I don't know any other way.

Hey guys, I have a quick enquiry to make about the set-up for this challenge: is having leagues on view-only allowed? It shouldn't make much difference or give me any unfair advantage, I don't think. Unless there are some perks that I'm unaware of.

I'm not sure because I was under the impression that having leagues on view-only still loaded up the players from that nation, so that you would have a larger pool of players to choose from other leagues.

That's just my take on it though.

With England loaded down to Blue Square North/South and with a large database, the player count is 17,000. I tried adding some view-only leagues and the player count remained as 17,000, and the star rating for estimated game speed also remained the same so I do not think extra players are loaded. I think all it does is allow me to see the league tables and the stats that come with it of the view-only nations. Playing the game doesn't feel quite right, otherwise. Weird, I know.

I suppose I should just leave it and have only the English leagues running, just to be on the safe side.

Nuneaton Premiership 2019-20

A season of pure struggle comes to an end! I finished a respectable 15th, with what is a very inferior team. I had to resort to direct very defensive play and as a result I hardly threatened in many of my games. I think my top scorer got 11 goals all season!

My board increased my capacity this season, I've gone from a 3850 seat stadium to a whopping 9850 :p

AIM: Improve the squad...drastically, but the prem money helps with that.

EDIT: Just had a the board announce a further stadium expansion of 4500 seats...I'm getting dizzy now!

but I can't proceed unless I register the correct amount of HG players.

if you do this with the empty spaces making up the amount of HG players you are short and submitting it, you will be able to continue onwards.

Nantwich Town – Premier League 2027/28 – Season 18

Having lost to Real Madrid again in Europe last season the priority again this season would be the Champions League, whilst in the Premier League we'd attempt to make it three on the trot.

The board yet again expected a Top Four finish, the Media Predicted we'd finish Second, whilst the bookies reckoned we'd finish Third.

We also became the 10th Richest Club in the World, whilst we moved upto 20th in the European Rankings.

Transfers - With far to many players at the club it was time to trim my squad, signings wise I continued to bring in promising youngsters mainly from england, with three Dutch Strikers signed after Roda JC became my latest feeder club, whilst £15m was spent on German born Italian Winger Alessandro Tufano to provide some depth on the right wing.

Page One - saw Brazilians Abelardo, Geova, Coelho and Keeper Fabao all leave for profit after they failed to get into my first team and they all would have need registering this season, whilst Brazilian Midfielder Carlinhos was sold for £14m after he started moaning, Academy Striker Barlow left for the North East, and backup Keeper Martin disappeared to Germany for £7m after I refused to meet his wage demands.

Page Two and Page Three - Spanish Midfielder Andres joined Man Utd in the Championship after he started moaning, Russian Right Back Shestakov left for Belgium as £12m was too much to turn down, whilst Celtic signed my right wingers Nelson and Ramsay who hadn't impressed and had started to moan.

So I had high hopes for this season especially considering we had just finished the last season unbeaten in 19 league games and my star Striker Zelaia had finally started scoring, however things didn't go to plan as my team bottled it, nerves and complancey set in, whilst my experienced players let me down badly, though a load of crippling injuries hardly helped - early on in the season I had six strikers out injured, in January I lost my centre-backs forcing me to field a 16yo in the FA Cup, whilst in March I lost my entire first choice midfield at the worst possible time.

Community Shield - We just about reclaimed the Community Shield beating Everton on penalties.

Premier League - Didn't exactly go that well as we limped home in Third place, we just never got going losing far to many games we really should have won or at least drawn - losing to Barnsley, Peterborough, Wolves, Burnley and letting Leeds do the double over us were embrassing, our poor performances were especially annoying considering we did the double over Arsenal and a win over Man City lifted us back into the title chase, before we crashed elsewhere and four defeats in March/April finished over title hopes when I was struggling to find 11 players to put on the pitch.

Champions League - a disappointing league campaign could have been redeemed with a strong European run, the bookies still gave us no hope in the competition expecting Real Madrid to make it three in a row. In the Group Stage we were now Second Seeds and as such avoided a trip to Spain this time around instead returning to Italy this time to face AC Milan, we'd also travel to Germany to face HSV and Estonia to play Levadia.

Champions League Group - We again easily made it through the group stage comfortably beating Levadia and HSV in our opening games, before claiming a home win over Milan and a draw in Italy to put us both through. A win over Levadia ensured we finished top leaving defeat in Germany pointless. And rather shockingly Real Madrid failed to make it out of their group so they won't be knocking us out this season :)

In the Knockout Round we would face Lyon and despite a poor performance in France a late goal from Zelaia allowed us to a claim a 3-2 victory. Thankfully in the Second Leg we didn't mess around and comfortably beat Lyon 4-0.

In the Quarter Finals we would face Arsenal, with first leg at home despite outplaying Arsenal and opening them up time and time again we somehow lost 1-0 - my strikers bottled it in front of goal, whilst my Keeper gifted them a goal when he decided to whack (not pass) a free-kick accross the pitch at one of my centre-backs, the ball hit my centre-back on the back and bounced at the feet of the Arsenal striker who was left to tap the ball in from 40 yards out, even worse is that that was their first shot on target in the match :(

In the Second Leg we again controlled the game even with a makeshift midfield but again our shooting let us down badly and a 0-0 draw wasn't enough and we are now going backwards in Europe :( There was some consolidation as Marseille then thumped Arsenal 5-0 to knock them

Carling Cup - Another disappointing end to our run as we made it to the Semi-Finals beating Mboro, Chelsea and Bolton before a poor first leg performance in the Semi gave Newcastle a two goal advantage, in the Second Leg two early goals from Zelaia levelled things up, but we couldn't add a third and it cost us a Newcastle scored a late goal to send them through.

The FA Cup - Finally provided us with some luck as we claimed our second FA Cup Trophy, easily dispatching Millwall, Bolton and MBoro, before drawing the big guns in the Quarter Finals we comfortable beat Man City and in the Semi-Final we got revenge on Arsenal with a 3-1 win though my Keeper bundling the ball into his own net didn't help matters, nor did losing my third left winger. In the Final we faced Chelsea who'd just finished Second to Man Utd in the Championship and two goals from Zelaia were enough to beat Chelsea and ensured we at least lifted some meaningful silverware this season.

Squad - a lot of injuries and some poor performances did not help this season, nor did the fact that most computer teams switched to a flat back 5 to stop me.

Keeper Taha Kodalak had a solid enough season, though he did make a couple of costly mistakes so it was rather surprising that he was named European Keeper of the Year.

At full back Pedro Leite had a poor season by his standards and it cost him his place as Cledson took his place with more stable performances, on the left Airam Barba had his worst season yet but still claimed fans player of the year - which shows how strong his previous seasons have been, pushing him hard was Ricardo Jimenez Garcia but several niggling injuries limited his appearances, I'll be expecting a big improvement next season at full-back otherwise changes might be made.

At Centre-Back we had bigger problems whilst Ian Thomas had a good season I struggled to find him a partner, whilst Sergey Kalashnikov got good ratings he disliked several players and was upsetting my team, so Erwin Bauwens brought back in to stablize the side with his experience, my other options were rookie defenders who have potential but cannot speak English yet, Italian Fabiano D'Angelo and Turk Resit Kaymak.

On the wings injuries hit us hard on the Right Eduardo was in good form when he was fit which wasn't often, luckily my new signing German born Italian Alessandro Tufano proved to be a solid signing, whilst Academy prospect Mark Frost was given a couple of games and his goal in the FA Cup made him Nantwich's youngster goalscorer.

On the Left things weren't exactly going much better as Dario missed the second half of the season due to injury, his understudy Glaucio did well until he too was taken out with an injury, this saw my latest Brazlian Wonderkid Luis Eduardo drafted in on the left I was also trying to get him retrained into a right winger but that didn't work.

In the Centre of midfield I had other problems Playmaker Ricardo Sousa just lost it in the League picking up 17 bookies and 3 red cards in just 24 games - a Nantwich and Premier League record, covering him was promising English youngster Kyle Herbert who became a Wonderkid at just 17 and was even named in Englands European Championship side, he was also runner-up in English Young Player of the Year award, in the Box-to-Box role Jerome Muraccioli was in good form until injury took him out of the run-in, covering him was yhe highly rated Jordan Charles who had a poor season due to the fact that somehow he failed to score or gain a single assist.

Upfront Antonio Costa didn't have the best of times and lost his place to Frank Schmidt who did well until his season was ended by injury and this gave Brazilian Andrezinho a chance to impress.

In the Deep Lying Role Inaki Zelaia played well but struggled to score and more is expected from him, covering him was another English Wonderkid Ryan Reeves who had a good season and even finished as my top scorer, though the pressure did get to him some times but he's still young, behind him was Serbian Igor Pejic who did well but he seems to have upset several players so his days maybe numbered.

Bext XI - players are actually in the correct positions for a change.

Overall XI - see's Kalashnikov, Thomas and Zelaia all make the side with Schmidt on the bench, whilst Stephen Brogan with his four seasons in League Two is somehow still in the team as is Icon Magnus Eikrem.

Overview - Ryan Reeves ends up top scorer, whilst collecting 103 Yellow Cards this season is unacceptable.

Finances - Player sales are the only thing keeping me afloat.

So we need to do a lot better next season, the problem is I just cannot afford to bring in World Class players and I need to hope my youngsters develop - What I need are a quality centre-back and a creative midfielder however only a few World Class players are interested in signing for me, who are expensive and are on silly wages, even average players are on silly wages (Centre-Back Potter I sold last season for £5m has just joined Newcastle for £16m and is now on £125K a week and he didn't even have a good season)

Oxford City - Season 2019/20 - Coca Cola Championship

Pre-Season, and all the hopes and expectations therein

Dominated at Platense and Swindon with Karakas, Kroonstrom and Reynaldo scoring in both games, so perhaps their goalscoring form of previous seasons was no fluke. Fellow CCC team Birmingham never looked like losing as they cruised to a 2-0 win, and a narrow win and draw respectively against Accrington and Rotherham proved a disappointing end.

Transfers

Cashed in on Parker, Enoh, Elokobi and Ruiz because for the most part they were too old, or I just felt the opportunity cost of losing their squad player status was less than the money received. Baptiste and Hess were signed as promising centre backs; Celebi and Hoilett would battle it out for the right wing position and I was delighted to re-introduce former loan signing Goncalves, but strictly on a squad player basis. Creaney, Leon and Whitehead were signed on loan to cover any defensive injury problems, and it was a similar story for Ian Harrop as goalkeeper. Garcia Garcia was signed on a free partly out of desperation and partly because of his amazing name, but he turned out to be top drawer.

The Season!

Once again we were presented with a tough opening game at home, and once again we managed a narrow 1-0 win, Crossan coming off the bench for a late winner. Peterborough away was disappointing, losing 1-0 and never really looking much of a threat, but that was incomparable to our next game at home to Newcastle. Leading 1-0 and then 3-2 with 8 minutes left, we inexplicably allowed Gary Hooper to grab a late brace and all 3 points for Newcastle. I thought the game would drain my players, both physically and mentally, but following this they just...didn't lose.

Derby were vanquished at Pride Park but we required a sending off and late goals from Reynaldo and Karakas, and an impressive David Hoilett's first goal of the season earned us a draw at home to Norwich, a lower half team that were very difficult to beat. It was a different story at traditional fliers Middlesborough, but a strong comeback from 2-0 down (not our first at the Riverside) got us the same number of points. A third consecutive draw followed suit at Watford, Reynaldo adding to his already impressive tally. An impressive win at home to Cardiff was backed by an even better first away win at Wigan, Karakas scoring vital goals in both games. A brief hiccup at home to Crystal Palace which required a last minute penalty from Kroonstrom to get us out of trouble proved to be the exception as Bristol City were vanquished two nil in their own backyard, Karakas and Reynaldo once again blossoming in their attacking roles.

A 4-1 home win against a well-drilled Huddersfield was memorable itself, but Karakas equalled our goalscoring record in a game (joint held by Shaum Cummings who plundered 4 against Corby in the BSP), each goal another slice of brilliance. Another great home win against Brighton preceded two solid draws at Leeds and Southampton. Ivan Boledo's 21st minute wonder strike for Southampton proved to be the last time we would concede in a while - my back four of Garcia Garcia, Lemos, Jones and Vacca looked extremely resolute while John-Joe O'Toole worked tirelessly in front of them. Here is the sequence of results in that fine run:

0-0 Stoke (H)

1-0 Swansea (H) - very difficult side to break down

1-0 Doncaster (A) - two in two for Karakas

2-0 Blackburn (H) - massive result, 3 in 3 for Karakas

0-0 Sheff Utd (A)

0-0 Bolton (H) - would win the league by a country mile

...normal service was then resumed at Milwall, where goals from Reynaldo and Karakas (again!) secured us a 2-2 draw at Millwall. Away wins were fine and everything, but we needed to convert them to wins if we had any hope of catching the runaway train at the top of the division called Bolton Wanderers.

I felt a draw at play-off contenders Birmingham was fine, but a 1-1 draw at home to Peterborough where we were bailed out by a Jacopo Barile special was a bit more disappointing. Our reunion at St. James' Park with Newcastle proved to be one of the best turnarounds I've ever seen; we absolutely dominated and deserved to win by more than 3 goals to nil; Reynaldo and Karakas were unplayable that night. Wedderburn scored his token goal in the next game, a 2-0 win that completed an impressive double against Derby.

In our next game, our squad was ravaged by injury but we still managed to-NO! We actually lost a game! 4 points from Middlesborough and Huddersfield suggested a return to form, but we then went into a mini-slump, 6 games yielding 4 points and 4 1-0 defeats - our attack was losing its venom. I thought the turnaround against Newcastle was remarkable, but nothing prepared me for the events at home to Leeds. We dropped our early lead quickly, but were strolling 3-1 at half time. Leeds brought the scores level with 4 minutes to go, only for talismanic winger David Hoilett to score the winner in the last minute and spark dramatic celebrations. Crossan's late winner at Swansea helped to consolidate our strong play-off position, but I still felt we should have been in the automatic places.

Disappointing outings against Stoke and Doncaster and our total against those disappointing relegation sides was a measly 1. Despite a 4-1 win at home to Southampton, the scoreline always flattered and an injury-plagued run (only 4 of my first choice XI available at one point) of two draws in which Mike Barker made some stunning saves and a loss saw us desperately scrambling to fight for the final play-off place. Probably not the best time to play away at already promoted Bolton, then. Bolton took an early lead through Michael Potts, but we levelled 5 minutes later with Kroonstrom's cool finish. The game turned extremely tense until Ander Blanco popped up like a phantom on the rebound of a blocked Karakas shot and we rode the storm of Bolton pressure in the second half to secure a memorable win, and make sure we went into the final round of fixtures knowing all we had to do was match Newcastle's result as we were level on points with a superior goal difference. We did this, as Newcastle were held at Stoke we had the game wrapped up at half-time, hammering Milwall 3-1 and make the final play-off spot ours.

Peterborough were to be our first barrier in the way to unprecedented Championship football, and I could scarcely believe it was the same team that had done the double over us - Blanco and Hoilett tormented them all game and we should have won by more than 2-0. The second leg was extremely tense as Peterborough had their three required goals...disallowed. We held firm and our route to the final was secured, amidst considerable controversy. Bristol City were my favoured opponents and so I was happy they vanquished Leeds. However, the fact that Garcia Garcia and Lemos' yellow cards meant that they would miss out on the play-off final I was less than happy about. I was doubly miserable when I realised Lemos would have to be replaced by David Baptiste, making his DEBUT FOR THE CLUB at 19 years of age. I had nothing to worry about. He was flawless. The first half was very unsettled, neither team finding a rhythm until BANG! Just before the half-time whistle was about to blow, Kroonstrom picked up the ball 25 yards from goal and showed his considerable shooting prowess to absolutely nail one. The second half was a similar affair, Bristol clearly reeling from the loss of the influential Sissoko to injury after 9 minutes. Hoilett secured the win and the promotion on 72 minutes when he picked up Baptiste's flick from a long throw to slot in a the near post and seal a magnificent 2-0 win at Wembley.

Final League Table

Sneaked it.

Positions Graph

Looking at this, it's easy to see why I was disappointed we didn't wrap up promotion earlier.

Stats

Solid stuff from Garcia Garcia and Barker in particular.

Squad (End Of Season)

A bit of trimming to do in order to prepare for the Prem.

-------Forgot to get a screenie for my finances, I do apologise--------

League Cup

Sander Kroonstrom struck two wonderful long range strikes to cover a disappointing team performance at Gillingham, and Accrington were just awful. We gave Tottenham a good go but their class told in the end.

FA Cup

Non-league AFC Wimbledon ran us very close as we narrowly won the replay 1-0, in which they had more than a few chances to win it. We lost a two goal advantage against Crystal Palace but edged the replay; and we put in one our most impressive cup performances against Man Utd at Old Trafford, a very different scenario to our schooling at Chelsea the other season.

Key Players

Ander Blanco

Prodigal son, returning for his second loan spell and showing us what we'd missed down the left wing - with him and Hoilett running the lines we looked more potent as an attacking force than ever.

Marco Vacca

Getting steadily better every season, which is amazing considering he was my 4th choice RB in League 1 at one point.

Oguzhan Karakas

The stats speak for themselves. An irreplacable player for us at CCC level. No team has really got to grips with him so far.

Reynaldo

...and here's the reason why. A superb partnership, with Reynaldo showing unbelievable class in 'the hole'. Has the ideal stats for the position, I got very lucky with this signing indeed.

David Hoilett

Signed as one of four potential starters on the right wing, I chanced him in the first game and never looked back. Useful as an experienced player in a young squad, he crossed well, had a nice finish, and dribbled even better. I believe he's one of the few players who can really make a difference next season.

Next Season

I don't know. This is the first time I've been promoted to the English Premiership on FM, so apart from staying up I have literally no idea how I need to organise finances, staff etc. Should be fun!

Great season Beerish :) the tv revenue you get should be suffice for your finances unless you go wild with siginigs so I wouldn't worry about that. Also, you can only register 25 players for the league anyway so you shouldn't need to do much in the way of your squad by the looks of it.

Oh and good luck i3rooker

Ive seen the oddest thing this season. I'm in 2037 and Ossett Town have been promoted for the first time to BSN, i noticed they have secure finances and turned pro 2 years ago, all this without any apparent chairman change.

Anyone else seen a lower league team turn pro, previously i'd only seen teams turn pro in the BSP or above?

I'm going for a total tactical revamp. I'm seriously limited by this narrow 4132, basically a DM and 3CM's. I going for a traditional 442, I'll probably concede more, but I just hope I can stay in the premiership another season with the change and build for the future.

The Premier League table is looking a little interesting 13 games in: http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/7161/capture15052010222810.jpg

Liverpool have just sacked Owen Coyle (who was Bolton boss until 2026) and have now hird ex-England manager Matt Hill (who was a youth coach at Porto and Man City after resigning from England).

Man Utd have just sacked Alan Pardew who had spent £120m on new players since his appointment in May, and replaced him with Guillermo Ochoa who lasted six months at Fulham before being fired.

Arsenal are still managed by Deschamps who took over in 2025 from Alan Shearer (who then became England manager and won Euro2028) though I doubt he'll be their for much longer unless things improve.

I know how you feel my 4-1-3-2 formation made us solid defensively but didn't give us enough upfront, the change to 4-4-2 made us more attacking but the loss of the DM left us exposed a lot more, it doesn't help that only one of my centre midfielders is attack minded (I previously retrained my wingers into attacking playmakers).

Though at the moment I've started to switch back to 4-1-3-2 as quite a few teams are now playing a flat back 5 against me which counters my wingers from 4-4-2 but cannot cope with the packed midfield from my 4-1-3-2.

Pre-season was the usual trail and error sigings (tried to get jabuti but was already signed up by some team in italy :() got the usual supects in from rangers and celtic, and got rid of most the the starting squad.

Season started well, and we only once dropped out of the top 3 all season, but round about November/December time we were dropping to many points by drawing games, so I brought in a couple of midfileders that were on my shortlist that had turned me down in the summer, these 3 signings allowed us to push on a really go for the tittle, with 5 games to go we were 2 points off top placed Bishops storford and played them at home next. In a tight game we took the lead early in thr second half and looked good for the win, however a slip by my RB let them in for a late goal and a 1-1 draw, when I drew my next game 0-0 I thought the tittle was gone but storford lost at the same time so that left me a point behind with 3 to play, we beat grays next while storford drew putting us a point clear with 2 to play, with our goal differnce a win and a draw would see us promoted, we cruised past bottom placed (and already relegatted) Merthyr 4-0 while Storfod lost again, meaning we were up as CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!

FA CUP-went out at the first time of asking to Dorchester

FA TROPHY-went out at the first time of asking to Braintree

AIMS FOR NEXT SEASON

Think this squad is good enough to finish mid-table with a few extra signings so that is the main aim, along with cup progress

Tooting & Mitcham United FC - Barclays Premier League - 2056/57

Last year was great for us as we raked in the trophies, this year I was hoping to add the Champions League to the list.

League Table

League Positions Graph

I really thought we had lost it as Liverpool looked like champions. We spent most of the season chasing them, then started dropping points once we had caught them. We went into the final game two points ahead but managed to lose to Man City 1-0, amazing Liverpool were held 1-1 by Palace which handed us an unlikely title.

Community Shield - we had a lot of players missing at the Olympics, but this was still a shock.

Carling Cup - a huge shock as we fell at the first hurdle.

FA Cup - we were looking good until this shocking result.

UEFA Champions League - the group stage was tough as we settled for second place again. We managed to beat Liverpool an penalties but then lost in the semi final to a single goal against Porto.

Squad - perhaps the average age is a little bit low but it felt like a struggle this year.

Transfers - I had got a bit carried away and with the club in debt I needed to make a profit, which came from the sale of my right back.

Key Player Profiles:

Sebastiano Costacurta - our top scorer, but I want him to be scoring 20+

Paul Moran - the reason Costacurta only scored 17, as they share the goals between them.

Hasan Aydin - great stuff again from the classy winger.

Marcio - what a player to have on the bench.

Maximilian Reinhardt - the reason I sold my first choice right back.

Next Season

It was a shame to take a step backwards, but in reality we were lucky to win the league. Next season we will need to improve, which might mean I need to stretch the finances a bit more to bring in a new player or two.

CL - Qtr Final

Yet again a season of just not being good enough, i have a core of 6 players in the late 20's early 30's and then the rest of my squad are 18-22, it seems to be not enough experience.

In the league i lost a few games at the start due to woeful defending and never made it up, Man City lost a lot at the end when the title was won to make it look closer.

In the CL i was in an easy group of Valancia, Shaktar and CSKA(Sofia) but needed a draw in the last game to qualify. I battled to get past Salzberg before losing 1-0 on agg to Porto for the second year running.

The reserves lost out to Tottenham on penalties in the league Cup.

The FA cup was won again when i only faced 1 prem team in Cardiff up till the final and then beat premiership Birmingham 2-1 in the final.

I finally moved into the new 33339 seat Merthyr Stadium and got a full house nearly all year, in fact the board announced a further 8368 seats would be added at the end of the year along with needed improvements to the training and youth facilities.

Transfers 1 2

A number of promising youngsters came in from spain and brazil. Most of trading was outwards with my record signing Franks being sold on after only a year where in 31 apps he averaged only 6.36. I sold youth product Williams and Fransicso on to Man U as the offers were too good to turn down. Aurelio and San Martin were sold on due to the large munber of strikers i posess. I decided Mohammed wasn't going to get any playing time and sold him but then had to buy in another left back in Ruiz when injuries left me short.

Tur was sold for 3 million a year after signing on a free.

Squad

Paulinho sufferd first with injury and then loss of form to leave Harris as my main goalie this year.

Franks appalling form meant he was dropped in oct and sold in jan. His spot was filled by Frohlich and Ortega with ok results alongside Stojanovic.

At full back Joyce continues to improve and Bartollini is solid.

Nogueira was the main player at left midfield. At right midfield Aslan could have had an awesome season if not for injury. Williams filled in well as did Brkic who became a wonderkid.

Robertson has become nearly worldclass in the centre and is now my best rated player. Tarantino shows signs of decline and Francisco had a poor season. Villalba did well at the end of the season.

Up front Abraham and Sergio were almost ever present and are enjoying some of their best seasons. Maza showed promise when he played.

Star player - considered selling him a few years ago but i think his creativity has increased leading him to be a better player, another great season.

Also had this youth player come through, never seen a 16yo worth so much so i have high hopes for him.

Oxford City - Season 2020/21 - Barclays Premiership NB: I forgot completely about my write-up after the season, so some information may be missing. Thank you.

Pre-Season, and all the hopes and expectations therein

Transfers

I released several players at the start of the season because - with the possible exception of John Joe O'Toole, in hindsight - they were deficient in too many areas to cut it in the Premiership. O'Grady, Wedderburn and Celebi were sold in January to cash in - but only after I played Wedderburn who now has the proud record of playing in every league in England, from BSN/BSS to the Prem.

Rasmussen and Bergsma were signed with half an eye to the future, whereas I hoped de Jong and Schmeichel would give us some more experience especially at the back where we've traditionally been vulnerable. Bolanos, Konstantinatou, D'Arcolangelo and Warren were all money down the drain, because they all contributed very little and we could only recoup 550k for Warren at the end of the season. Antonio, Ozturk and Pilar were probably the few signings to really justify their fees in their first season, and Bustamante was somewhat enigmatic - great stats, but a lousy player. McGeady and Kroos were two very handy experienced players I managed to snag on frees.

The Season!

Not for the first time, it was to be Burnley who gave me a tough welcome to life in a new league. Once again we were lucky to get the result, though this time it was simply a 1-1 draw with Ozturk scoring on his debut from the penalty spot. Our next game was against more claret and blue, but a 2-0 defeat at West Ham underlined the difficulty of our task in this division. Conceding a last minute equaliser at QPR showed how much we needed to keep focused for 90+ minutes, letting Ephraim free at the back post undermined hard graft and good goals from Hoilett and D'Arcengalo. A fine draw at home to a strong Chelsea side was helped by another Hoilett goal, and it looked as if our defensively minded tactics might just work.

Not so. Our next three games were tough, against Villa, Everton and Man United; but losing all three without scoring was a bitter pill to swallow. The rot was stopped somewhat with a narrow 1-0 home win against West Brom, our first of the season, but it required some bizarre refeering to send off Albian's Conrath after 39 minutes. I wasn't expecting anything from Arsenal or Sunderland, and I didn't get anything, not even a goal. A televised away match at Bolton was vital to our chances, and even early in the season it felt like Brierley's late winner would dictate where we finished. It would have to be him, too, who failed to set the world alight at Oxford City on loan, but now scored against us for fun.

After we went 2-0 down at home to Hull it looked like a 4th straight defeat was on the cards, but the lads rallied superbly to draw and could have won it late on. We broke our duck in style at Coventry, firing 3 past without reply where young defender Rene Bergsma looked more like the Dutch Destroyer I imagined him to be when I signed him, and not the nincompoop from the Netherlands that his early form made him look like. Portsmouth took advantage of a smash and grab at the Oxford City Stadium to take all 3 points, but we countered with two magnificent wins, at fellow relegation battlers Birmingham and at home to Liverpool, where we had the luxury of a missed penalty - Kroos and Ozturk scoring in both games. Ozturk's goalscoring was fine, but the problem was getting him into the team, as he continued to pick up niggly injuries. The good run stopped there, as Tottenham taught us a lesson at White Hart Lane to win 3-0.

League leaders Man City eased to a 2-1 victory, before Wolves exposed our system to smash us 5-2. We put up a good fight but lost out 1-0 to Chelsea, and several near-misses were plunging us closer to the bottom of the table. 3-2 and 4-1 defeats to Burnley showed off the risks you take in using an attacking strategy in the Premiership, but we stopped the rot somewhat with a 2-2 draw at home to QPR...AND ANOTHER LAST MINUTE EQUALSIER FROM HOGAN %£"^&ING EPHRAIM. We responded magnificently to win 3-2 at Aston Villa, Kroos rolling back the years with a fine brace. Arsenal away proved to be a step too far and we succumbed to a 4-2 defeat. I thought a draw at home to Everton was a good result, but nothing could compare me for the next game:

We beat Manchester United 4-1 at home. Despite losing Ellis Jones and Reynaldo to injury, and having Vacca sent off after 27 minutes, despite having alan quinn make his league debut, we stunned them, Kroos looking particularly lethal to grab another brace. Joao Lemos' late, late header shocked West Brom as we completed our first double, and we were out of the relegation zone for the first time in aaaaaaaages, even with a patched up back 4. Successive home 1-1 draws saw us slip back under, but only by goal difference...it was a 1-0 away defeat at Hull and only managing to draw against Coventry which cemented our position. Our worst defeat of the season came next, a 4-0 thrashing at Anfield, before we managed by some miracle to get a 1-1 draw at Portsmouth despite our woodwork being rattled 4 times.

Our next game, with 34 games played, a point off safety and in the middle of an injury crisis was at home to the team directly above us and the relegation zone, Birmingham. We dominated the early stages but with only Lemos' header to show for it we were always vulnerable and so it wasn't too surprising Birmingham equalised and it ended 1-1. We never looked like beating Tottenham at home and with two games left - away at champions Man City and at home to a very useful Wolves side with 3 points to make up, matters looked bleak. BUT THEN-Jacopo Barile scores a screamer from nowhere to silence the Man City fans. It looked unbelievable, Birmingham were losing and we were seconds away fro-oh...they equalised and meant we went into the last game of the season needing to win and relying on other teams to lose. Never looked like happening as Wolves strolled to a 2-0 win. An agonising end to the season, but considering the luck I had in getting here, not too bad overall.

Final League Table

Without last minute equalisers and winners against us, we'd be home and hosed.

Finances (End Of Season)

If it wasn't for some stupid signings, this would be looking a lot more healthy and wouldn't put so much pressure on me for the next season.

FA Cup

Didn't care about it. A replay against Walsall was an annoyance, and my youth team pretty much rolled over for Palace.

League Cup

As above. The cups were very, very low in my list of priorities.

Key Players

Joao Lemos

Solid season from the captain. Represented a full circle for him, as he'd been loaned to us from established Prem team Burnley and then released because he wasn't good enough.

Marco Vacca

A massive surprise, he was just immense all season. The most reliable defender, several international wingers came a cropper against him.

Kasper Schmeichel

In the early stages of the season, he pretty much WAS our team - our outfield was so awful, it was solely down to him that we managed to grab any kind of result.

David Hoilett

My personal player of the season, he continued his fine form despite several annoying international call-ups. Faded a bit towards the end of the season; I might have taken a punt extending his contract considering his age.

Jacopo Barile

I had to adapt him to an unnatural ball winning position, but he handled it with aplomb and scored some absolutely unbelievable long range goals - probably winning us a handful of points on their own.

Next Season

Hard to tell. AI teams from the Premiership have tended to fare pretty well (even Birmingham, who went into administration) but this is my first ever relegation in any version of FM. Like my sojourn into the Premiership, it's entirely new territory.

We have finally beaten Arsenal's record of 14 League wins in a row that they set back in 2002.

The record now stands at 15 games 27 years later

Things are going a lot better this season after 22 games we are 13 points clear of Man City, though Man City have 3 games in hand and my striker Zelaia has 18 goals in 18 games so far.

Merthyr Tydfll Season 1 2010/1 BSS - Promotion!!!

Well, the season began with me stating we would become champions, unfortunately due to some decent cup runs, and a lot of replays, mid-season was horror, managing to secure 5th place only in the last game, with going up to that place only the game before.

Table

Transfers

You'll notice the late signings and players sold. The latter were so to clear up budget for the two awesome midfielders: McGabe and Brittain, who not only helped me promote this year but will surely be part of my starting XI for years (Brittain is rate as Leading player for L1). The late signing was a GK to help me for the rest of the season, as all my good ones were injured.

Also I'm well aware of the fact my Welsh team is full of Scots ;)

Canvey Island 2020/21 Report - EPL

the new jekyll and hyde

After two conecutive euro finishes, the media were starting to recognise our prescene in the league, expecting us to finish around the same again. The odds also suggested that we might be able to produce an outside chance of a title push.

League - Positions -

2 wins and 2 defeats out of the first 4 games were a clear indicator that we were to face no real consistency during this campaign. Any periods of unbeaten runs of 3+ were immediatley followed by winless runs of the same, with some bizzare results happening as a result including a 5-1 thrashing of Chelsea one game, follwed by a 3-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace the next, meaning that as soon as we looked like challenging for the top places, we fell back into the clutches of the ongoing mid-table squabble. Despite this, we were still in the running for a top 4 spot with 5 games to go; but 1 win in this last 5 proved to be our downfall, leaving us with another 6th placed finish.

Cups

FA Cup

3rd rd - Stoke City 1-4 Canvey Island

4th rd - Bolton Wanderers 1-2 Canvey Island

5th rd - Canvey Island 3-2 Leeds United

6th rd - Canvey Island 2-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers

Semi Final - Canvey Island 2-0 Everton (aet)

Final - Chelsea 0-1 Canvey Island

Finally we progress past the semis, though we had some luck getting there. Half-strength teams were just good enough to get to that far, then our counter-attacking abilities managed to win both games when we really shouldn't have. Another trophy for the cabinet though :)

Carling Cup

3rd rd - Nottingham Forest 1-1p Canvey Island (5-4 pens)

4th rd - Canvey Island 1p-1 Sheffield United (5-4 pens)

Quarter Final - Canvey Island 1-2 Chelsea

Complete reserve teams in the first two games, where penalties really should'nt have been neccessary. Annoyingly dominated the Chelsea game without taking the chances.

Euro Cup

3rd quali rd leg 1 - Canvey Island 1-0 Genclerbirligi SK (TUR)

3rd quali rd leg 2 - Genclerbirligi SK (TUR) 2-1 Canvey Island (agg 2-2; Canvey progress on away goals)

4th quali rd leg 1 - Slovan Liberec (CZE) 0-4 Canvey Island

4th quali rd leg 2 - Canvey Island 7-0 Slovan Liberec (CZE) (agg 11-0)

An almighty scare in Turkey there, the Czechs were dealt with no problems at all.

Matchday 1 - Canvey Island 4-2 AJ Auxerre (FRA)

Matchday 2 - Metalist Kharkiv (UKR) 1-3 Canvey Island

Matchday 3 - Canvey Island 1-3 Napoli (ITA)

Mathcday 4 - Napoli (ITA) 1-1 Canvey Island

Matchday 5 - AJ Auxerre (FRA) 1-2 Canvey Island

Matchday 6 - Canvey Island 1-1 Metalist Kharkiv (UKR)

Group C Final Table

Slighlty dissapointing that I didn't win the final game which would have made us win the group, but qualification was our aim which we achieved.

1st ko rd leg 1 - Canvey Island 0-0 Olympiakos SF Piraeus (GRE)

1st ko rd leg 2 - Olympiakos SF Piraeus (GRE) 1-2 Canvey Island (agg 2-1)

2nd ko rd leg 1 - Spartak Moscow (RUS) 2-1 Canvey Island

2nd ko rd leg 2 - Canvey Island 1-1 Spartak Moscow (RUS) (agg 2-3)

Slightly dissapointed as we didn't get a horror draw like we did last year. Abject peformance in Russia really should have been punished more than it was though.

Squad (1)(2)(3)

3 pages now  So much for trimming the squad. Peacock did become the first academy player to gain a first team place though.

Millward's Player Choice Award (basically who I think deserves our Player of the Season before the Fan's vote...)

2010/11 - Luke Thurlbourne MC

2011/12 - Chris Todd DC

2012/13 - Scott Smith DL

2013/14 - Dean Lodge AMR

2014/15 - Dean Hammond MC

2015/16 - Luciano Napoli ST

2016/17 - Borja ST

2017/18 - László Horváth MC

2018/19 - Leonid Gerasimov GK

2019/20 - Oscar Ustari GK

2020/21 - Khouma Babacar ST (1)(2)

Runner-up for pretty much every year he has been at the club before this year, if a runner-up prize existed, he continued being the top scorer for the club. His continental record over 2 years is 22 goals in 25 games, which isn't bad

Transfers - Slighlty less than last season, still too much in hindsight. The CBs which were brought in never really settled, so gaining money on Djourou, Garay, Simunek and Bocchetti was ok. Piskunov would have been first choice in the team were it not for Veloso or Essien so Madrid's bid was impossible to say no to.

Finances - Worrying in one word, despite the £90m in the bank. The wage costs, which grew another 50% when I wanted to decrease it, needs looking at immediatley.

Confidence - Still seen as untouchable, but the squad harmony is getting almost too low to control now.

History

2010/11 - BSS: 3rd, defeat in playoff semi-finals

2011/12 - BSS: 1st

2012/13 - BSP: 1st

2013/14 - CCL2: 1st

2014/15 - CCL1: 7th

2015/16 - CCL1: 1st

2016/17 - CCC: 8th

2017/18 - CCC: 1st

2018/19 - EPL: 7th

2019/20 - EPL: 6th, LC winners

2020/21 - EPL: 6th, FA winners

The Trophy Cabinet

Blue Square South - 2011/12

Blue Square Premier - 2012/13

Coca-Cola League 2 - 2013/14

Coca-Cola League 1 - 2015/16

Coca-Cola Championship - 2017/18

League Cup - 2019/20

FA Cup - 2020/21

Aims for next season: I think this squad can challenge for a top 4 place, though it may have to come at the cost of early exits in everything else so players don't get tired with the 50+ match season. As mentioned, cutting down on players and wages needs to happen soon as well.

Oxford City - Blue Square South - 2010/11

This season we was predicted to finish second bottom in 21st but I knew that with the right signings we could be at the opposite side of the table

League Table

League Positions Graph

We was always near the top end of the table never placing lower than 8th in the entire season. Our home form was extraordinary as we didn't lose in the league at home all season. We had a long period about a quarter of the the way through the season where we were dominating and I thought that we'd actually walk this league. I was obviously wrong. As it came to the end of the season with one game left we was one point behind Northwich in 1st place. Guess who I faced on the last day of the season... yes ironically it was Northwich and we couldn't cope with them. Their win mean't that they were deserving champions and we had to battle it out in the playoffs. In the semi... Workington.

Playoff Semi Final Leg 1

We came into this playoff two legged affair having won against Workington both home and away. I was therefore expecting to get to the playoff final one way or another. Away though it wasn't to be as a costly own goal by my keeper mean't Workington made the journey to Court Place Farm in front. We were only a goal behind though so I felt that we may be able to force it into extra time at our place

Playoff Semi Final Leg 2

Heartbreak for me and my team. Paul Robinson scored his 20th league goal of the season to become the leagues top goalscorer but it wasn't enough as on 75th minute Workington striker Lewis Perkins put us out of our misery. We'll have better next year I suppose.

FA Cup - We managed to overcome the lower league truro (although how we managed to concede two goals I don't know) but Basingstoke took us out of the competition in a game I think we should have realistically should have won.

FA Trophy - A quick exit from this competition as Stafford overcomes us in one of our few home losses.

Transfers - I got rid of a lot of players that would probably get us nowhere on frees. I replaced them with youngsters that I think have potential to do well in the Blue Square Premier.

Squad - This squad should be challenging for the title next year but I want to easily become champions so I'll still look to be bringing new players in in the upcoming transfer window

Best Player Profile:

Craig Mcshea

This little gem that I found is probably my best player this season. He had a good scoring record and got 9 MOM's.

Midgetram, not sure why you are worried about your finances, i think 90 million is more than i've ever had. Mind you i have shareholders who trousered £15 million last season to leave me with an overall loss for the season.

As for wage costs they increase every year as players ask for more, only way to get it down in the prem is to sell off half your squad. You look like you can maybe challenge for the top 4 soon, but i can't understand your reluctance to spend money on buying players.

Shareholders only took out £12m in the summer, so that isn't too bad I suppose. I've have sold quite a few of my squad like I said I would try to, with Inter being very generous about Balotelli, but it's just that I like having complete control of my finances thats all.

About the free transfers; on previous FM games I have a poor record when I spend high transfer fees so I try and limit how much I spend. Also, now that I have a youth academy, I'm trying to get more club-HG players in my squad as well, so there's no need to spend money on other players.
