That seems to be a common occurence :D It's almost as if the game knows you're near something big, and sends small gnomes out to destroy key bits of the computer. And that shows that I should probably get to bed if my mind is conjuring up images like that.

Wow. Just when i thought he was past it, he comes out and proves me wrong in spectacular fashion. He started really badly, with 0 goals from his first 6 games, before bursting into life in September and never looking back. He's reached the 1000 overall target, and he's got just 37 more club goals to go until the 1000 FCUM goals.

A step backwards from last season in terms of club performance, but a ludicrous 29 international goals this season! Albeit against the likes of Zimbabwe and Nambia! Currently a little off the pace needed, but by the start of next season at the very latest, he'll have switched roles with Brennan, and then it should be goals galore for Marc! :D

Chris Higgins

Well having had such a good run and my comment about the 1000 goals being a gimmee, Higgins proceeded to be hit by a flurry of injuries, it started in the 2nd game of the season where a torn muscle resulted in 8 weeks out and i have to say he was not really fully fit till about February, he came back and didnt really perform, picking up a number of smaller niggly injuries throughout,

However, a sensational return to form in the later stages saw him almost get himself up to another 100 goal season, but just falling short at the death,

Still, a good goal output and we are still on course, only another 428 to go  at 22 years of age.

I would like to think i will be aiming for 1500 or 2000 as long as no more injury problems, he is still young and has plenty of years left in the tank. Would also love to challenge Keirrisons Premier League Record as i really think Higgins has the ability to do it :D

He is certainly making a mess of most Premier League Defences,

I would be very interested to see what his actual underlying CA/PA are, but i have always flatly refused to download any aids or editors,

However for this player i may have a peek once his Career is on its last legs i.e. Hopefully when he is 38 and just scored his 3000th career goal :D

Got a couple of potential candidates for this on the go. One of them is a real-life player too.

Currently managing Venezia and have just finished the 2011/2012 season securing a second successive promotion meaning I'll be in Serie B next year. It's pretty much all thanks to the strike partnership I've managed to forge at the club.

The first player is Federico Carraro. He found himself out in the cold at Fiorentina having never played a single game for them and following my promotion into Serie C1A, and a partnership agreement with Fiorentina, I managed to bring him in on loan.

The second player is a regen, also from Fiorentina, Emiliano Gai. He came into the footballing world in 2010/11 and played just once for Fiorentina (having an abysmal game with a 5.80 rating). His attributes are unbelievable, especially for this level, and in the summer of 2011 I managed to bag him on a free transfer.

They've forged an unbelievable partnership together in their first season at the club, and already list each other as 'preferred personnel'. Both are also capped at Italy U21 level.

The stats are:

Carraro - Played 42, Scored 50, Assisted 26

Gai - Played 41, Scored 49, Assisted 21

The next move is to sign Carraro on a full-time deal and keep the duo together in Serie B, as they'll still tear the league apart. My only worry is that compared to other record holders they may be late starters at 19 and 18 respectively. Lost out on a couple of vital years there.

Well Chris Higgins has just scored his 655th Career goal (aged 23), and in doing so has managed to pass Oswaldo Even in the all time list from the 1st page,

He is also rapidly coming up on 100 International Goals as well, His output here should be helped by the fact i have now taken the England Job so can unashamadly make him the centre of everything for England as well as Tottenham

Next Stop 1000 Goals and beyond :D

Still plodding steadily (:D) along, is Paul Spence. With 169 goals in the 60 games he played, he dropped under 3 a game, but it's still a phenomenal return for someone in his 30s. His physical stats are beginning to drop, but even a pace of 13 should keep him in decent positions in this league. Still as sharp a finisher as ever though, so the chances he does get are being put away regularly. An injury in mid-April hampered his season, and probably took his last chance at a 180 season away, but if he can keep above 150 for the next 2 seasons then 3000 has to be a real possibility. No contract worries either; he's staying until he's 38 at least, under contract that is. No idea when he plans to retire. He is also closing in on 2500 goals in total for East Belfast, although with International goals he is well past that milestone and powering towards 2600.

At international level, he moved past 100 goals quickly and is now on 105 goals from 111 caps. Very close to the all-time caps record for this guy now.

Spence Season 1: 7 goals

Spence Season 2:18 goals

Spence Season 3: 94 goals

Spence Season 4: 177 goals

Spence Season 5: 285 goals

Spence Season 6: 428 goals

Spence Season 14 : 1903 goals

Spence Season 15 : 2065 goals

Spence Season 16 : 2262 goals

Spence Season 17 : 2431 goals

Paul Spence summary so far (Age 33)

Appearances: 1095

Goals: 2431

Int'l Caps: 111

Int'l Goals: 105

Total Goals: 2536

After 2000 goals

Age: 22

East Belfast Appearances: 305

East Belfast Goals: 392

Northern Ireland Caps: 27

Northern Ireland Goals: 20

Total Appearances: 332

Total Goals: 412

Nearly halfway there, and a season very disrupted by injuries didn't help him along at all.

Chris Higgins

Another season down, and what a season!!!!!

Keeping Himself Relatively injury free and tweaking the tactic even more to make it centre around him he literally tore up the Premiership, He is now probably scoring about 70% of the teams goals

He now has only 258 goals to go to reach the magical 1000 and judging by his form this season i would expect to hit that mark in the next season and a half, when he will be 25

Only one way to describe this kid and that is Legend, and i honestly think if he can sustain this and keep injury free he could be looking at a massive career total, maybe into the high 2000's

He is also going to see an increase in his international goals as i am now the manager and can use the same tactic for him on the International stage as well. Although he did reach the 100 goal mark for his country this season, which is pretty scary stuff for a 23 year old

He is Pretty Special :D

What is Gareth Black's record?

I am hoping that he is going to challenge Keirrisons Career record by Santy001, but i think Spence and Smylie are a step to far,

But he is without doubt the best player i have ever seen on any version of this game,

For a forward he has 20's in almost all key attributes, and all his Goals have come at the very highest level, Premiership, Champions League, Internationals etc

England : Games, 130 | Goals 307

Epic, I know. 307 goals for England. He was only 28 when I stopped that save game :D - He would have slaughtered the 200 cap mark.

There's Gareth Black's International Records for you, insane really. Looks like we've got 2 players trying to break that now! Hands off the record, it belongs to my son! :p

Thats an insane record

Higgins may beat the overall goals but he will get nowhere near that strike rate, thats incredible!!!!!!

And 2 players trying to break the record!!!!

Sounds like a race to me :D

I tend to agree kroblues, I think he is peaking early and will then decline early, much like Michael Owen i would suggest as he relys very much on speed and trickery for his edge.

Hope i am wrong but i think that by the time he is 32ish he will be struggling to maintain his goal output,

Still, even if his goals fall by 50% he may be getting more than 50 a season, and if he does that for say, the last 5 years of his career, that's around 250 goals. Plus it's maybe only 2 seasons until he gets to 1000 in total, so I'd say 2000 has to be a minimum target.

Even at age 34, he's still going along at 150+ per season. Certainly helped by the terrible standard of the N.I league meaning that his physical attributes going through the floor didn't affect him too much. He's not looking like destroying teams too often now, but he's usually acummulating 2 or 3 per game and then cutting loose against the weaker teams. His 166 goals in 65 appearances this season has certainly helped him in his quest for the mystical 3000 goals, and he passed 2500 goals for East Belfast this season, a remarkable achievement.

On the international stage he is still plowing along, moving on to 119 caps and 114 goals, another ridiculous achievement considering the relative weakness of Northern Ireland. He is probably aided by the fact that he has played with 7 of the first team at some point, and 4 of them still remain at East Belfast, including his strike partner now for both club and country, Mark Stewart. He is now level on caps with Pat Jennings, and one more appearance will be enough to ensure he captures yet another record in this astonishing career.

Maybe only 2 good seasons away from the milestone, which would be unbelievable. If he plays until age 38 he needs to average just over 70 goals per season, which seems very attainable. To do the unthinkable and beat Smylie, he would need to average nearly 110 goals per season, which while unlikely, is becoming more and more plausible by the season. Please don't kill me, Nep :D

Chris Higgins

Another Solid Season, but was really hindered by injuries, he missed about 2 months in total and at busy times so around 15-20 games, he really needs to be injury free if he is going to get to the 2000's as i hope, Still only 122 goals to go till the 1000 so barring any further injury problems that should happen next season at 25 and then we will have to see how he can kick on

Seems Higgins could almost definitely pass Keirrison. The problem I had with Keirrison, is my chairman accepted a bid from real madrid, so I lost him for 2 years in which time he only scored 60/70 goals I think maybe a bit more. It took me 2 years to get him back and he came back on fire. I've got a new PC coming soon and then I'll get Keirrison to see out the twilight years of his career. Having stepped down as Brazil manager to pick up Leigh Stones international career has been a bit damaging. I also really need to sort his career out too, he's not even 20 yet and breezed past 200 goals already if memory serves.

If hes ever to fulfill his potential, he needs Keirrison to retire, but he's still averaging almost 2 goals a game at 35/36. I am spending huge amounts to keep the team at the very peak around Keirrison to keep him banging them in. I will see out Keirrisons career soon as I get my new PC.

I'm not even considering beating Smylie :D
Maybe a good ploy,

I am not sure Nep would ever forgive you

You know what, I genuinely hope he beats it. It would be good to have someone else up here, because you know, as the only one so far, I get some accusations and such. That being said, the sheer fact you have got so close, has encouraged me to load up FM08 again, after not playing firstly due to FM10, and now due to FML, and carry on, hopefully finding another 3,000+ Striker :D

I'm actually quite near the end of my current season, and will be looking for a top prospect when the season is up, for who I can get a nice amount of goals with.

I'm off work on Tuesday, and will update the thread with all the new goals tally's etc then.

I'm afraid i'm sitting on the fence here, i'm not hoping that Spence beats it, i'm not hoping that he doesn't get it.

What i'm hoping for is for the 2 great men to finish on exactly the same number of goals. Now that would be the stuff of legend, wouldn't it?! :D

The one thing that will always have crippled Smylies career is Nep never being NI manager. Despite Keirrison getting a rather substantial amount of caps for Brazil, he wasn't a regular in the side up until he was 26/27 so he suffered too a bit in that regard. I suspect his twilight years will be the same as Smylies, still capable of performing but because of his age and dwindling CA he won't get selected. I'm hoping to keep Keirrison going until he's 40 or so, with very careful management I've prolonged some players careers to their early 40's in other saves on 09.

You shouldn't stop him if he gets there Kroblues, if someone is in the position to beat Nep then they should take it out of respect for the achievement lol.

Just as a point of reference, Smylie only scored 200 (ish) goals after the age of 34. So he was already into the 2,900 mark at that stage. Doesn't bode well for Spence, but you never know. As long as you can keep him from retiring, you have a good chance :D

Well, he's got almost 100 this season :D And I'm only in February, so maybe another 150 goal season is a possibility. His stats except for the physical attributes are all staying more or less constant, so he's still scoring quite a few.

Edit: 115 goals now and up to the middle of March. So he's up with the average to beat Smylie for this season at least.

He's 35, and barely slowing down at all. Even if he did drop below 150 goals for the first time in a while this season, but he was very close to reaching that milestone again. 143 goals in his 66 appearances this year meant he was well above the goals per season target I set him in order to beat Smylie, assuming he had 4 seasons left in him. He also cut the distance to 3000 goals in half this year, something that makes his becoming the 2nd member of the 3000 goals club much more likely, provided he doesn't shock me with an early retirement, which, as he's playing in more or less every game, shouldn't be too likely, touch wood.

For Northern Ireland, he passed the record caps mark, making him truly the greatest player to don the green shirt. With another 3 goals, he is steadily accumulating on the world stage too.

Spence Season 1: 7 goals

Spence Season 2:18 goals

Spence Season 3: 94 goals

Spence Season 4: 177 goals

Spence Season 5: 285 goals

Spence Season 6: 428 goals

Spence Season 7: 604 goals

Spence Season 8 : 774 goals

Spence Season 9 : 955 goals

Spence Season 10 : 1163 goals

Spence Season 11 : 1361 goals

Spence Season 12 : 1546 goals

Spence Season 13 : 1724 goals

Spence Season 14 : 1903 goals

Spence Season 15 : 2065 goals

Spence Season 16 : 2262 goals

Spence Season 17 : 2431 goals

Spence Season 18 : 2597 goals

Spence Season 19 : 2740 goals

Paul Spence summary so far (Age 35)

Appearances: 1226

Goals: 2740

Int'l Caps: 123

Int'l Goals: 117

Total Goals: 2857

After 2000 goals

143 goals to go, 289 to beat Smylie

Maybe only one good season away from 3000 goals, and if he plays until age 38, he will need to average just over 90 goals per season to beat Smylie, which is doable, depending on how he declines.

Mark Stewart:

Age: 24

East Belfast Appearances: 430

East Belfast Goals: 558

Northern Ireland Caps: 38

Northern Ireland Goals: 28

Total Appearances: 468

Total Goals: 586

He's over the 500 mark, and well before his peak, so 1000 should be an easy target, in theory.
