sheffield uniteds road to the premiership

Recommended Posts

I sat at the introductory press conference with my sheffield united scarf around me. I remebered all the matches i went to with my dad. All the amazing games i saw. I rememberd the 4-3 victory over nottingham forest, the 1-0 victory over arsenal, beating sheffield wednesday home and away. It was now my job to give the young and old fans the same thrills that i had with the team i supported as a child.

Wednesday 9th July 2008

my assistant manager is very pleased with the amount of depth we have in our squad. he says the weakest area of our team is the midfield area.

The minumum expectation for the team is to reach the play-offs. I have been given a budget of 2 million.

Tuesday 9th July 2008

i met up with the media , they asked me a few questions like "is it your dream job" ? etc.

Later that day i decided to have a look at and review my squad

goalkeepers

Paddy Kenny- brilliant keeper, very realible, will need him if we want to go up.

Ian Bennett- old, not really in my first team plans but is good back up if kenny gets injured or suspended

Justin Haber- not really in my plans, will be looking to loan him out in order to get games

Defenders

Leigh Bromby- can play rb or cd, want to hold on to him for back up

Derek Geary- used as back up

Kyle Naughton- one for the futer, high hopes for him

Kyle Walker- another future star coming through the ranks, high hopes for him

Matt Kilgallon- brilliant defender definatly not going

Chris Morgan- quality defender, not for sale for any price

Gary Naysmith-left back , with premiership experience, need to keep

Greg Halford- can play midfield if needed, only on loan, may sign if he does well

Sun Jihai- another player who can play in midfield, back up , looking to sell

Ugo Ehiogu- very experienced, back up to first team

midfielders

Gary Speed- very experienced, but very old, need to keep

Nick Montgomery- good midfielder, keeping

Lee Hendrie- not really in my plans but will keep in case hes needed

David Cotterill- great midfielder, definately not looking to sell

Brian Howard- amzing midfielder, need to keep if we want promotion

Stephen Quinn- good young midfielder, has a good future with sheffield united ahead of him

Strikers

Jamie Ward- good young player, one for the future

Darious Henderson- big, strong striker, scores as well as sets up goals

Arturo Lupoli- only on loan, not really in my plans

Billy Sharp- sheffield united lad but only used for back up

Danny Webber- not really good enough but will play a fair few games

Durugn the game 2 of my key players were injured. Stephen Quinn would only be out of action for 12 days. But Chris Morgans injury was much more serious, he would be out between 4-5 months which will be a huge blow for us.

The day was finaly here. The day when i finally managed a league game with my boyhood team. I felt so proud. I thought back to some of the memorable goals i saw us score, jagielkers screamer against middlesborough, james beatties free kick against sheffield wednesday, paul peschisolidos goal against nottingham forest. then i thought to myself the dreams of these supporters are in my hands.

On 6 Aug 2008 the u-23 teams are playing in the Olympics. Each Olympic squad is allowed three overage players. Nothing weird about it.

Welcome to FMS. So how do you feel about managing the Blades? We hear some at the beginning ... what do YOU say? :)

I feel very proud to manage Sheffield united and I know with me the players will achieve what's capable of them and that is getting promotion back to the premiership. If we don't get promoted our season will be a failure and I would of let the fans down.

I also dream of one day when my team will be playing against some of the best teams in Europe.

Yeah, a team list, result and scorers isn't a story unfortunately. What you were doing before was borderline, but just had enough detail to classify as what we expect from a story, your last post doesn't. If you want to continue posting like you have in your last post, then I suggest the career update forum is better suited

Are you even reading the comments that people are giving you? In all honesty, this was never a story to begin with - though as Terk said, what you were doing before was borderline as to what is accepted.

You may deem what I am about to say as harsh - but it is the truth, whether you like it or not.

First of all, as Terk initially said, what you are doing now is not a story - all I see is a bunch of results, which tell me absolutely nothing about your formation, or any detail whatsoever regarding, say, how a goal was scored.

Secondly, your grammar at the start of your story is absolutely atrocious - at least capitalise the start of your sentences, for goodness sake! Proper nouns are also a problem - since when does "Saturday" start with a small s?

Finally - stop rushing. I know you're probably keen to tell us the results of your matches with Sheffield United, but if you continually keep posting new sections half an hour at a time...some people just don't want to bother reading a story from the beginning to say, page 3 on this board. Keep going, and that is what you'll end up with - and not a lot of readers

If you want advice, all I can possibly say is take a look at mark wilson27's stories - they are written in a similar vein to what you're trying to do, and I am certain that it would help you improve your writing on this board.

If not, like Terk said earlier, I'd recommend you look at the FM Career Thread a little lower down.

bladeslad, we run a seven day rule in FMS, which means that you can't start a new story within seven days of starting your last one. So you can start your new effort next Tuesday. That should give you plenty of time to read around and see what is expected. Like viper said, I would recommend mark wilson's stories, as well as Faramir's.
