weeeman27bob
Writer's Notes - This update is coming today, whilst the other two will appear on Sunday. That's because I'm going away tomorrow. Update 5 – weeman27bob Years: 0, Months: 5, Days:146 It may be the festive time nearing Christmas, but Brian McGuinness isn’t full of joy. His Everton sit rock bottom of the Premiership with only ten points from fifteen games. Joining them in the relegation zone are Martin Bojangles‘s Hull and Ricky Nakano‘s Middlesbrough who have both scored a disappointing twelve points. McGuinness finds his job status Precarious, and Bojangles doesn’t fare much better with his status set as Very Insecure. Everton may be doing poorly in the league, but still look like they will make the next round of the UEFA Cup as they sit in second place of their group . Da Hoover Man’s Sampdoria top the group with two wins out of three after defeating Maz Armley’s Racing 1-0. All three teams though sit in the top three of the group meaning they are favourites to qualify. In fact every team controlled by one of the managers are in positions to qualify for the next round. Tyler Burrows’s Udinese, Neji Hyuuga’s Deportivo and Lawrence Lazewski’s Valencia all have a win and a draw. Valencia secured their win with a thumping 4-0 victory over Austria Wien. Liam Ferguson’s Man City won a tight game against the French side Paris Saint-Germain but lost against the Dutch team Heerenveen 0-2 in a game they really should have won. Zach Machios should be very pleased with Portsmouth’s performances so far. His team sit top of their UEFA Cup group, which also contains Will de Mote’s AC Milan, and sit fourth in the Premiership. His exploits have seen him gain a job status of Very Secure. Faring even better though are Leo Dodge’s Tottenham. A victory by four goals over Partizan Belgrade from Serbia sees them in a good position in the UEFA Cup. However in the league they sit an impressive third after winning all but one of their games this month, including a 2-0 defeat of Shazad Ali’s Newcastle. Tottenham are also in the quarter finals of the League Cup, after defeating Sheffield United in a thumping 5-0 victory. Also in the quarter finals of the League Cup are West Brom, managed by Brucie Bonus. Not only that, but they find themselves slap bang in the middle of the league table. An impressive month has seen them defeat Chelsea by two goals to one, draw 1-1 with Jeremy English’s Liverpool, and lose to Man United in a scorching five goal game. All three of those teams are playing in the Champions League, and all three of them have qualified for the next round, each winning four and losing one of their games so far. Maurice Jobson’s Man United have been the most impressive, scoring 12 goals. Similar to in the UEFA Cup, nearly all of the managed teams have, or are in the position to qualify. The only team that aren’t are Tom Smith’s Arsenal who sit bottom of their group. His fortunes are better in the Premiership though as the Gunners sit top of the table, but with games to come against Chelsea, Liverpool, and Man United next month, things could be set to change. The best team in the Champions League so far are Ben Cee’s Inter, who are still unbeaten with four wins and a draw. Not only that but they are also leading Serie A by four points after winning every game this month, including a 2-0 vicotry over dafuge’s Torino who are struggling in Serie A finding themselves bottom. dafuge finds his job Very Insecure but is not the only one under pressure in the Italian league. James Ridley’s Siena are just above the relegation zone, sitting in 16th, but he finds his job under threat after they only secured three points this month. Atalanta, managed by bermybhoy, sit just one place above Siena, and with the team predicted to do much better, he too finds his job status as Very Insecure. It isn’t just the smaller teams though. Lisa Jeffries’s Juventus find themselves a disappointing seventh after poor results this month, including a 0-1 loss to Jonte Rhodes’s tenth places Lazio and a goalless draw against Cardio Vascular’s Genoa, who sit 13th. Fiorentina should be happier though as their manager, Ben Taylor, has led them to second in the league after a good month in which they defeated Clark Aitken’s Roma by three goals to two away. The side from the Italian capital sit lower than expected in 7th, but there is still time to turn things around. Much praise should go to Theo Stigarakis’s Catania. His team have been predicted to finish dead last, but are in fact ninth after some good wins this month. In La Liga, Lucas Volman’s Real Madrid sit top by a solitary point with Haowan Madridstas’s Barcelona sitting second. Barcelona have had a good month, winning all but one game and scoring nine goals. Madrid also lost one game, a 0-1 defeat to third placed Sevilla, which was a good result in a good month for Jack Browne. The other end of the table sees managers fighting for their jobs. Things are tight at the bottom of La Liga with Neji Hyuuga’s Deportivo sitting 15th but only two points above the relegation zone. For a team predicted 7th, this is poor to say the least. Luckily, though, they squeezed through the Spanish Cup, something that cannot be said of Neilio’s Almería who were not only knocked out by Wobill Luman’s Real Betis, but are in the relegation zone too, despite winning two games this month. David Machine’s Athletic find themselves above that drop zone, thanks to their superior goal difference. This means that all three of these managers find themselves in Very Insecure positions. Much fun has been poked at Phill Ewles as his Valladolid after they crashed out of the Spanish Cup to lower opposition, something every other manager avoided. There have been many good performances in Spain, but the standout one comes from Sirus Lannock’s Málaga who find themselves 11th which is much higher than expected. Manager of the Update A few good candidates this week, but it goes too… Leo Dodge, Tottenham. Theo Stigarakis and Sirus Lannock have both done very well, guiding their teams to positions way above expectations, but haven’t been truly outstanding. Zach Machios has also had a good month seeing Portsmouth into fourth place in the Premiership and having good results in Europe. However Dodge just shades him as he sits third in the Premiership above teams such as Liverpool and Man United, and is still unbeaten in the UEFA Cup. canvey!!
Update 5 – canvey!! Years: 0, Months: 5, Days: 146 There have been a number of sackings this month. Sadly, they were all in the second tiers of the relevant countries. However, Maz Armley and David Machine were two of many managers edging their way towards that, while Liverpool boss Jeremy English has fought his way away with an unbeaten month including a 2-0 away victory at Rangers and a 1-0 victory in the League Cup, usurping their rivals in a visit to Goodison Park. Armley’s Racing produced two spectacular victories this month, including a 5-0 win over Czechs Slovan Liberec in the UEFA Cup. However, a couple of losses in his league campaign leaves the Englishman stuck in 15th position. David Machine’s Athletic, meanwhile won only one league game this month, although they followed up a 1-1 draw at home to Espanyol with a 2-0 cup victory at home to Espanyol. However, this was little saving grace and the Australian finds himself out of that tournament on a 2-3 aggregate. All of the English Big Four had troubles this month, although it was arguably Manchester United who had the least amount of them. Maurice Jobson guided his Red Devils team to a 3-0 victory over Celtic in the Champions League, a 4-0 victory over Watford in the League Cup and a 5-0 victory over lowly Wigan in the league. However, the Rwandan was unable to successfully leave the Emirates, where Tom Smith’s Arsenal won 2-1 with an Edwin van der Sar dismissal. A saving grace for Jobson may be that in tomorrow’s League Cup Quarter Final, they are at home to the London club. Smith, however, was not without his own problems. He promptly dismissed Steve McClaren’s FC Twente when they visited in the Champions League, but were pegged back 2-2 by a resilient Everton, and a trip to Craven Cottage didn’t go to plan, where they were handed a 0-2 defeat. Yet not even Tim Aubel, manager of Fulham, had a perfect month, as Portsmouth, with their flagging manager Zach Machios, visited London, and triumphed with a 3-1 victory, scoring in the 22nd, 26th and 28th minute. Fulham were also knocked out of the League Cup on penalties after a 2-2 draw at Molineux. However, the victory over Arsenal as well as wins over West Ham and Blackburn put Aubel in a Secure position. And despite his win over Fulham, Machios is still Very Insecure with his club sitting in 18th place. They were on the other side of that Fulham scoreline against Blackburn while Pompey lost 1-2 to Manchester United and Brucie Bonus’s West Brom. Clark Aitken’s Roma were finally trumped this month, leaving Juventus, and their female manager Lisa Jeffries, the only side without a loss in Serie A. In fact, it was a trip to the Old Lady’s (that’s not Jeffries I’m talking about) ground that terminated the sixteen-game winning streak. Yet Roma continue their success, remaining first, and Canadian Aitken is masterminding 3-0 wins in the Champions League, over Rangers and over Cool Manager’s Atlético Madrid. Juventus, meanwhile, sitting five points behind, fell to a strong display in Lyon, and were held to a draw by dafuge’s Torino. Despite this, dafuge’s side lie 17th in Serie A, as the Juventus game was the only one they didn’t lose this month. In the Spanish Cup this month, Barcelona, managed by Haowan Madridstas, won 7-0 over opponents Real Unión to progress on a 9-0 aggregate. They also beat Jellybean Man’s Numancia 4-0 while losing 0-1 to Real Madrid. However, Man is said to be Very Secure after preserving his team in the top half of the table, bringing some good results such as a 4-1 triumph over Saul Goode’s Osasuna, yet losing in the Cup to Second Division Zaragoza. Despite being 19th in the League, Goode is said to be Stable, but he won only one game this month, over Cristobal Blanco’s Recreativo, although he squeaked through the cup on penalties. Blanco’s side are in 16th, and the Peruvian shipped eight goals in three games yet has progressed in the cup where he will face bottom-placed Getafe, managed by Englishman Joe Seddon. There were five relevant casualties in the English League Cup Fourth Round, and three Championship sides have made it to the Quarter Final, with one guaranteed to reach the Final Four. Whoopy Dee’s West Ham lost 1-3 to Liam Ferguson’s Manchester City, perhaps a contributing factor in the second-nationality New Zealander’s Very Insecure position, accompanied with his occupation of 19th place in the Premier League. Andre da Conceiçao’s Chelsea outclassed Bolton in a 5-1 victory, which leads to Arnold J. Rimmer’s description as ‘Insecure’. Wanderers struggled this month, losing also 1-3 to bottom-placed Wigan, yet they pulled back some form at the end of the month to beat Manchester City 2-1. Chelsea, meanwhile, lie in 8th place after defeats to Tottenham and Newcastle, although the Portuguese manager’s side beat both PSV and CJR Cluj 2-1 in the Champions League. James Salter’s Reggina saw an unbeaten month this November in Serie A, a welcome turnabout that puts them into 15th spot. While their results were far from sensational, in amongst them were 2-1 victories over Napoli, Torino and Da Hoover Man’s Sampdoria, who sit in 8th despite three loses this month: one to Reggina, of course, but also one to Cardio Vascular’s Genoa and to Ben Cee’s Inter. Inter lie in 3rd place, but not even they were free from imperfections. Despite a 4-0 Champions League triumph over Galatasaray, they lost in the same competition to Portugal’s Sporting CP, and also in a league trip to Theo Stigarakis’s Catania. Genoa lie in 7th but have had an indifferent month, and face a trip to Juventus in the Italian Cup for their very next match. Back to sunny Spain now and Lawrence Lazewski’s Valencia top the form charts without a loss this month. This includes a 4-0 home victory over Murcia in the Spanish Cup and a trip to Austria where a 3-0 win was upsetting for Salzburg. A 4-0 win over Recreativo was another highlight. Real Madrid, managed by Lucas Volman, were also unbeaten, including a 2-0 demolition of their opponents in Donetsk, a 5-0 Cup win over Fuerteventura, resulting in an 8-0 aggregate, and a 3-0 win over Maz Armley’s Racing. Two Spanish teams found themselves unable to win, but Sirus Lannock’s Málaga accumulated four draws whereas Getafe saw themselves to only two. In terms of other sides without wins, in England there weren’t any, but Leo Dodge’s Tottenham came close to not losing, yet fell 0-2 in a difficult game at Anfield. Some highlights for the Englishman this month include wins over Chelsea and a 4-1 conquest of Manchester City, yet they were held 1-1 by sc Heerenveen in the UEFA Cup. Regardless, the 46-year-old came third in the Manager of the Month award and is coming third in the league too. Like Tottenham, Mark Cator’s Aston Villa only lost the one game this month, yet theirs was to Hull and they also found difficulty in a trip to the home ground of Jack Browne, leaving disappointed after Sevilla won 2-0. Cator is currently Very Insecure. In the UEFA Cup, Neji Hyuuga’s Deportivo are the first relevant side to qualify for the next round, completing their qualification just two games in after a 2-1 win over Austria Wien this month. Will de Mote’s A.C. Milan have also won both European games after winning 3-1 over Liam Ferguson’s Manchester City at the City of Manchester Stadium, and Lawrence Lazewski’s Valencia also have six points, while Udinese, under the reins of Tyler Burrows, sit just inside the qualification spots by virtue of their goal difference. In the Champions League, however, all English sides have qualified for the knockout round with one game to play, but Villarreal, managed by Lars Tommersen, are fighting it out with Bordeaux for their qualification, while Ben Taylor’s Fiorentina are trying to overcome Celtic. Juventus need to overtake Spartak Moscow while only one team is definitely out, with Cool Manager’s Atlético Madrid in contention with Rangers for third place and a UEFA Cup spot. Next month brings a number of things for our managers. There’s always the promise of more league action, while European group stages reach their conclusion. For those in Italy there is the First Round of the Cup whereas there is, of course, Christmas, Natale or Navidad. However, will the gifts of any of the managers be a P45? We’ll see. Manager of the Update There were a number of strong candidates for Manager of the Update this month, not least because of the defeats handed to the Big Four. However the winner is; Leo Dodge, Tottenham By virtue of the fact that he’s not won it yet. Lawrence Lazewski at Valencia came close, and would have won it if not for a 2-2 draw against Numancia. However, I felt it unfair to punish Leo Dodge for losing a difficult game to Liverpool, and also looked at their performances in relation to their league expectations, with Lazewski four places above the prediction and Dodge six. Other claimants were Lisa Jeffries at Juventus who had an unbeaten league month yet lost in Lyon, and Lucas Volman at Real Madrid, with Jeremy English also a top contender. Ridleys
Update 5 - Ridleys Years: 0, Months: 5, Days: 146 Things are heating up in the competition this month, with some managers exceeding expectations like Bolton’s Arnold J. Rimmer for example, who is now regarded as Very Secure as he has guided his club in to a European position for the time being in 7th place. There are also managers performing below par, especially Liverpool boss Jeremy English who has now gone 9 games in all competitions without a win, and fans of the club were embarrassed by Maurice Jobson’s Manchester United after a 6-1 win for the Red Devils. Things are also going badly for Joe Gleeson at Espanyol, who was expecting a mid-table position at the very least at the beginning of the season. His side sit at the bottom of La Liga and remain the only team to not reach double figures in points so far. Unsurprisingly both Jeremy English and Joe Gleeson are Precarious at their respective clubs. In Italy things aren’t going quite to plan for Chievo and their Brazilian manager Mathias Brunckhorst. Despite having won only one of their 14 games so far and picking up only four points I was surprised to see that that the Chievo boss is still labelled as Stable by his team. The same applies for Stoke manager Fréderico Canvey who is also regarded as Stable by his club despite being the only team in the Premiership to still be in single figures and are five points adrift at the bottom of the league. On the other hand things are going very well for Arnold J. Rimmer of Bolton who has led his team to a very respectable 7th position for the time being. Last month's Manager of the Update winner (and two time winner overall) Bryan McGuinness, manager of Everton, has had another solid month and still sit in a Champions League position. Tottenham and their manager Leo Dodge join Everton in a Champions League position. Everton are in 3rd place and Tottenham are in 2nd, joint on points with Andre da Conceiçao at Chelsea. Both teams also top their groups in the UEFA Cup. Osasuna’s Saul Goode is surprising everyone in La Liga as his team are exceeding all expectations and find themselves in the top half of the table. If they keep their form going they may sneak a European place for next season! Mr Goode is Very Secure at his club. Catania are the surprise team in this years Serie A. Their manager Theo Stigarakis has surprised everybody so far by taking his team in to 8th position with only one defeat in their last seven league games, including wins against Lord Weeman’s Napoli, Mikey Twigge’s Palermo and Da Hoover Man’s Sampdoria who are all performing below par and find themselves below Catania in the league. Ben Cee’s Inter are the only team in the competition still unbeaten.Over in Spain the top two teams are Lucas Volman’s Real Madrid and Haowan Madridstas’s Barcelona who are already six points clear of 3rd place Atlético Madrid, managed by Cool Manager. Barcelona are top of the table on 33 points with Real Madrid on 32 points, followed by Atlético Madrid on 26 points and Jack Browne’s Sevilla on 25 points. There have been no real surprises in the Champions League, with all but one of the English, Italian and Spanish teams on track for qualification to the knockout stages. Roma’s Clark Aitken has drawn all five of his Champions League matches so far and are in 3rd in their group, behind Zenit. Real Madrid have already qualified from that group. Villarreal, managed by Lars Tommersen, have not had the best of form in the league recently, but their form has been magnificent in Europe, playing five games in their group and winning all five, including two wins against Liverpool. Female manager Lisa Jeffries has also been celebrating good form in the Champions League, remaining unbeaten with her club Juventus and qualifying along with Tom Smith’s Arsenal. In the UEFA Cup it has been very smooth for the five English teams in the competition, as four of them top their respective groups. One of these teams is Zach Machios’s Portsmouth who won their group comfortably. Mark Cator’s Aston Villa also won their group with relative ease. Maz Armley is struggling in Europe and is not doing well in the league either. 19th in the league and on the brink of being knocked out of Europe will not go down well with the Racing supporters. Shazad Ali’s Newcastle pulled off a shock 2-0 win against Liverpool’s under-pressure manager Jeremy English in the League Cup. There were also wins for Aston Villa who beat Manchester United, Bolton who beat Tottenham on penalties and Arsenal who beat Liam Ferguson’s ManchesterCity 1-0. Portsmouth overcame their Championship opponents Burnley after extra time, Everton who thrashed Brucie Bonus’s West Brom 4-1 and Robert Boyle’s Blackburn were lucky to come out with a 1-0 win against Sheffield United. The draw for the FA Cup 3rd Round has also been drawn with three all-premiership clashes. Martin Bojangles’s Hull play away at Arsenal, Aston Villa are at home to Middlesbrough managed by Ricky Nakano and West Brom will be playing Tottenham at home. In Spain, Jellybean Man’s Numancia were the only La Liga team not to progress through to the next round of the Spanish Cup. They were defeated 1-0 on aggregate by Las Palmas. Las Palmas have been drawn against Joe Seddon’s Getafe for the next round. Manager of the Update My manager of the update has to go to; Theo Stigarakis, Catania An Impressive month for Theo Stigarakis, with wins against Napoli and Palermo along the way. It’s also been another good month for Ben Cee at Inter who tops Serie A after another unbeaten month. Zach Machios was also a contender after qualifying with ease from the UEFA Cup Group Stages.
