  1. Do you guys feel that transfers and transfer budgets in FM 2019 is more realistic to today's real world crazy transfer spending? Like are majority of the big clubs in your game splurging huge amounts of money on star players?

    [Discussion] World Cup Year Transfers

    This suggestion is based on something I saw in the transfer news that Inter Milan are specifically seeking permanent and loan moves for players needing first-team football or major league exposure with just half a season to go until the World Cup, such as Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge, Borussia Dortmund's Andre Schürrle, and Jiangsu Suning's Ramires. It strikes me that, first of all, it wouldn't be too difficult to replicate the real-world concerns of players going into a World Cup season, and especially going into the January window of that year. So, I should imagine that it would be possible to increase the likelihood of the "wants to leave for first-team football" thing, or to add, for example, a "wants to play more regularly to earn an international call-up" or "wants to leave to earn a World Cup call-up" in a major championship year, especially for those players recently dropped. Also, in the summer, similar to the "too many players in my position" thing, a player could approach a manager with a concern or seeking a promise about game time in such a year. Might there also be some way to incorporate this tendency to seek loan moves for out of favour players - even those without concerns, unhappiness or transfer requests - into a club's transfer strategy, as seems to be the case at Inter Milan? As is often the case with bigger clubs interesting your players, it could be that clubs offering a loan move and regular football in a World Cup year would cause the player unrest. For me, this would seem an ideal addition to the frequent - and often otherwise useless - news articles about international selection. Something along the lines of: "Out of favour [player] has not been picked by [international manager] since [date], and will surely be concerned that he may now miss out on the World Cup unless he can force his way into [club manager]'s plans for [current club]. [Interested club] have been linked with a loan move in recent times and could offer [player] the chance to play his way back into [international manager]'s plans with just [months] to go until the World Cup in [country]." A long post for quite a minor detail, but I think it'd be a measure that would help to replicate the real-world pressures of a World Cup year, and add to the hype and build-up surrounding a World Cup year, rather than it just occurring at the end of the season as though it's an unspectacular event. All improvements and suggestions welcome!
  3. What is the point in the discard list currently, other than stopping an agent recommending that player? I would like the option to remove all players from a search if I have added them to the discard list already. For example, I am searching for a midfielder who is on the loan list, and Stephen Ireland is in my discard list. However he shows up in my options for midfielders who are listed for loan. If there was an option to remove these players in the filters it would just make scouting that little bit less tiresome. Great game so far though. Really enjoying it.

I've included this point in a larger post about overall improvements needed to in the area of transfers, but I want to highlight it here as this is the #1 issue I have with Football Manager and, though this has been an unrealistic and frustrating sticking point for years, it seems it STILL has not been addressed in FM19 despite being very simple and straightforward. You have always been able to agree to transfers outside of the transfer window, and they are simply implemented on the first day it opens again. However, for some reason you aren't able to preemptively arrange loan deals the same way. There doesn't seem to be any reasoning behind this, and it's incredibly restrictive of your transfer strategy, especially as a smaller club that relies heavily on loans. I often have to decide between signing outright a mediocre player or loaning a younger kid at a comparable level from a larger club, but that leaves me with the choice of either securing the older guy now or having to just sit around riskily waiting and hoping a loan could materialize later because it cannot be preplanned for. This causes me to miss out on a lot of business for no real reason. As far as I can tell, the top leagues had the below number of loan deals prearranged on or before the day the window opened.   5. there have been complaints on the forum about player and team unhappiness after a refusal of a transfer, mostly about having to release players or having many players unhappy with the manager. i, on the other hand, am on the opposite view, and i believe it is too easy to keep your players ,both happy and at the club. i think adding a "willingness to release players" column at the information page (near "domestic players bias" and "loyalty to players") will give the players more teeth, or making it possible for them to have "the same level of teeth" while shifting some of the damage they cause from the squad harmony aspect to the transfer and signings front. fighting with players over your willingness to allow them to leave when they notify you of their interests to leave will build you a notorious reputation as a manager who "locks up" players. players will be less likely to renew contracts if they feel they might want to leave in, say, two years. players from other clubs will be more reluctant to sign for your team (their agent might mention their refusal reason as "he fears he will not be able to advance in his career should a he get a tempting offer") or will insist on very low release clauses. a player might complain to the media about his will to leave, which will make your attempts to sign players at the same time much more difficult, at least until the story settles down. if the player manages to get other managers, and players who play, or have played, for you, to criticize you, your situation will become even worse. at the end, keeping unhappy players because you are waiting for a better offer or because you want to keep good players means taking a risk that they will leave for free and that you'll have trouble replacing them. implanting this feature will allow, even though i think it is unnecessary, reducing team reaction and support of a player wanting to leave while making sure they do not apply less pressure at you.

    More autonomy for Director of Football

    I know, this is late but I still hope to find some support on this one. When playing, sometimes, I feel, that the game would benefit from a challenge when a coach has limited functionalty in transfer field. Have in mind Liverpool commitee or Galiani era in Milan. So I think it would be intetresting if a player could make DoF a main man in conducting tranfers. In my perception it might look like this: When in a need of a certain player, you can enter a task, as you do for a scouting team - a request for what kind of player you need and DoF would come back to you with a list of options for your approval (or Just buy one like Bonucci was fed to Montella). So DoFs would need to have more broad set of stats and even character traits inside the game. This can as well be hardcoded in a certain club's philosophy, for instance, when you take Roma's offer you know, that you won't have any influence on transfers. This might add a pretty tough challenge to FM and make coaching even more realistic. Will be curious to know your opinions on this one.

  8. Would really appreciate if someone has an answer to my question, have been playing FM for years and still not sure if there's an option for this. Is there a way to receive transfer activity or bids that other clubs are making for top players? Maybe these players have been transfer listed or unhappy so many clubs are making bids for them. Can I get inbox notifs or have one of my scout inform me? I feel that many times I lose the chance to join the bidding war for top players because I don't know and it's too late.

    Sign staff at end of contract or season

    It would be a great little feature if you could sign staff members with a contract start date at the start of the next season, just like you can with players. When you have a current staff member with an expiring contract in a role while you're at your maximum allowed for that role you can't at the moment not pro-actively hire his replacement without firing the guy you want to replace when he accepts his contract offer. It feels hugely disrespectful if you have to fire a guy who has worked 20+ years at the club a few days before he officially retires because you've hired his successor slightly in advance.
  11. Hi, When I offer a player to clubs, on his contract page it then says that clubs have made offers but I never actually receive the offers so I can’t sell the player. I need to bring some money in so that I can increase my wage budget but this is making it so I can’t do that.

Typical situation: I transfer list a player, and then I may instantly receive a few transfer offers, like that: Problem is, they're (extremely) often identical, no matter how complex (and private) they are. Why does this happen? It's quite unrealistic. Should be more variety in offers and they shouldn't pop up immediately. Or "AI" teams don't scout at all? And, FM19 trend, offers are mostly non-negotiable. Non only for listed players. Sometimes I receive a non-negotiable offer, decline it and they make a slightly better NON-NEGOTIABLE offer again. It may continue for a while.
  13. It always frustrates me when a real life manager has made terrible signings that you can't sell on in the first window (+ sometimes struggle in Jan!)... Can SI give an option to start from the final day of the previous season before any signings have been made? + Give you the opportunity to hang on to players with expiring contracts?... Would be an interesting challenge especially when you're taking over promoted/relegated clubs and/or clubs that need a big squad overhaul - and when real-life manager made a ludicrous and expensive deadline day signing that you can't get rid of... (Fellaini to Utd, Konchesky to Liverpool, Torres to Chelsea, Andy Carroll to Liverpool, etc)...
  14. Hi Guys, I’ve encountered a problem where I can’t change how I filter my player search. So it’s stuck on age. Ive loaded an older save and that is stuck on search by position. I started a new game and that was stuck on value. Any ideas?
  15. Hi guys, So i have recently started an arsenal save, and am going into my second season with Arsenal, with about 60mil in the transfer budget. At the moment I need a striker to replace auba, who is amazing, but in the next year or two, I fear will downgrade drastically. So what I need is a striker who has his same characteristics, fast, and good at finishing, but ideally someone young. At the moment I am torn between getting Werner, or giving Eddie Nketiah a go upfront, so any help or ideas are welcome! (Also suggestions for fullbacks that develop well within 2 years would be good as well!)
  16. Hi guys, I am into my second year of my man city save and I want to get isco from real Madrid. However they are not willing to do business with me and isco have a release clause of 600 million. Does that mean it is impossible to get him as the game only let me bid for 300 million max?
  17. *** Disclaimer*** First and foremost as always, I unfortunately feel the need to inform anybody that reads this that this isn't a rant or a flaming post. All of my posts are meant to foster discussion. Sometimes, sadly the community turns against one another. Secondly, since I discovered FM, I've had nothing but success at it... The first few versions I lucked into it and everything past that has been about applying real world tactics within the confines of the definitions of Football Manager. I would presume that it's wide spread knowledge that club and manager reputation is considered to be broken by most users. A user can win league, cup, and Champions League title year after year only to see their reputation barely increase and in some cases even drop. This has been observed by users playing in leagues with low reputations as well as users playing in leagues such as the EPL. The reason that this is an issue for most players is that reputation has been programmed such a far-reaching impact on the game. It affects sponsorship money, the level of player you're able to attract, transfer and contract fees (incoming and outgoing), etc. This is effectively shown here Football Manager Reputation Experiment . In this three part experiment, the user gives non-league side Halifax the maximum reputation in the game while dropping Arsenal's reputation to the lowest possible. An overview of the impact is that Arsenal were forced to sell a large majority of their starting players during the first three transfer windows while being unable to bring any player in. Over the course of four seasons they became a Euro Cup tier side. Meanwhile, Halifax stormed up the leagues and made a fair amount of money while doing it. But what's particularly of note for my point is that in four years, Arsenal went from a reputation of 1 (the lowest you can possibly have) to about 5500 (about three stars). That's a massive jump in a relatively short amount of time for a side that lost most of it's well-known players, staff, and only qualified for the Euro Cup here and there. I say massive relative to how a user-controlled team's reputation seems to work. Again, despite user's signing or developing some of the world's most renowned players, winning the biggest competitions in successive years, taking on big names in pre-season setups, the reputation never jumps that quickly in that amount of time. So the question becomes about if there are mechanics in play to artificially influence a user-controlled team's reputation. It would seem that there's a strong possibility that this is true and it would make sense. Many users become bored after they feel that they can buy any regen and basically plug and play. So it would make sense that if users can achieve unrealistic success with minnow clubs, perhaps the developers felt that having a more "realistic" reputation system would lead to a degraded challenge and experience. Basically, by having the AI team's reputation be more dynamic, it allows for a continued and varied challenge for the user over the course of a save. What are your thoughts on this?

    Interaction with DoF

    I sometimes play with the settings that the Director of Football is in charge of contract renewals and transfers, as I think that's quite a bit how it really is "out there", at least a lot of places. But then I'd like to be able to talk to my DoF, to get a sort of agreement on what players to buy (and also, to sell). If I arrive at a new club, with a DoF, and I plan to play a certain style or formation, then I think it would be appropriate to have a discussion with the DoF, so that I could tell him what kind of players I believe we need to aquire. As it is now, suddenly he's gone and bought two LBs (one who's also a CB, but still), and brought in another on loan, while we had one in the squad already, who was capable of playing first team, full time. (I know I have the option of rejecting these transfers before they're completed, but that's not the point) On the other side of the transfer sector, I'd like to talk with him about the squad, and agreeing on who in the first team squad we could offload (instead of going through each player and setting him to the "unwanted list", this could be part of a "pre-season meeting" between the DoF and myself). In those cases where I arrive at a club, and a DoF's in place, the realistic thing would be to have him in charge of transfers, but as Head Coach, I presume I'm entitled to have my say in what kind of players he should try to acquire, instead of him just going on a "shopping spree" all by himself. Of course, there could (should/would) be the odd player he brings in, who I'd strongly disagree with, but the main "transfer plan" should be laid between us. Thoughts? -M

    Transfer Issues

    Hi, I love the FM Mobile game, however there seems to be a bug with the game, at least there is with mine and it's really annoying. Sometimes the transfers mess up. For example I placed a bid for Joshua Onomah of Tottenham a couple of seasons ago in the game, I'm still unable to place any more bids for him because it still says my bid is pending despite it being 2 seasons ago. This has happened a number of times now and I'm unsure of anything i can do. It happens both with permanent transfers and Loans. Regards Sean McNally upport. [JME6OY-K92L]
  20. One of our youth prospects is currently playing for Bristol City on Football Manager 2017 despite playing for Stourport (on loan from Kidderminster Harriers) in real life. A bit annoying as he's probably the best prospect we currently have at the club.

  22. Hi all, I’ve had the game since it came out and was hoping for resolution to this before now. My problem all stems from the transfer engine. It doesnt work. Heres the examples; Jean Michael Gradel. £20m pound player. I get 3 bids all the same amount, £46m. I accept all 3...nothing happens. The negotiation stage doesn’t work properly either, all 3 teams to continue to make the same increase to their offer... £9 for a mobile game that clearly hasn’t been tested properly! I think you are taking the mickey out of us really. Get it sorted or refund us some money for having to test your game for you. It’s nowhere near good enough.
  23. Hi, Me and my friend started a Serbian league game with Crvena Zvezda and Partizan. We have a problem - our teams playing very well and our players getting notes higher than 7.2 after one season (I reached CL quarter-final with Partizan; he won the league and reached quarter-final of EL). In the winter transfer window we had no transfer offers from other teams, in the summer window it was the same. It's pretty weird since I have played many games on the previous version (before the db update) and after good season I could sell players for 2-5x of their value now there are NO OFFERS even if I offer them to other clubs. I get like offers for 3 players for half of their very low value (low compared to their skill, but I'm aware it's because of the Serbian league) What's the cause of that? I've got a save where I'm into the January transfer window and I cannot sell or loan out any players as when it asks me to complete the transfer, I select Yes but the same request for confirmation appears the next day. I've continued for a number of days but still had the same issue, and this is the same for when I've cancelled the transfer and then tried again. I've also made sure I'm using the latest update / version. I'm using Android 7.1.1
  25. I'm currently playing with Feyenoord, and a big part of making it big with a team at this level is buying and selling players; reinvesting the money and building that way. I can't do this whilst not being able to extract worthwhile value from my sales. See below, for example: Romero is the top scorer in the Eredivisie, valued at £11m; 21, with great stats and I'm being offered £14m - after add-ons - for him in a second bid. Is anybody else having this kind of issue? If I can't get good value, I'll try and wait until I can, but then the players get unhappy and I'm stuck between a rock-and-a-hard-place. I really love this save, and the game for that matter, but this is making it unplayable. Hope somebody can give me some advice.
