Hi all, First, I wish you a terrific holiday period and merry Christmas! Hope all is well Second, would really appreciate some advice on the tactics I am running with my Chelsea squad in the '20-'21 season. I'm trying to achieve a 4-2-4 tactic that has at its core (1) an aggressive defensive style, with a high level of pressing/closing down, (2) on offense, creative attacking play with multiple goalscoring threats. To that end, and with the help of Chelsea's significant financial resources , I've stocked my offense with what I consider to be a fairly potent force: Insigne, Dybala, Pulisic, and Asensio. It's a fairly effective tactic, but my squad launches a significant amount of long shots. Our offense shoots more than anyone in the league, and yet with a mediocre shots on target %, I feel like we still have room to grow. I've attached my tactic, the TIs, and screenshots from a recent game. Any ideas as to how to fix this? Given my formation, I don't feel like my attackers should be isolated or desperate to shoot, and yet sometimes these guys will throw up outrageous shots (see Asensio's try in the screenshot, when he clearly had passing options available). A few ideas I've thought of include (1) slowing down the pace (but don't feel like I should have to), (2) adding the "Shoot less" PI - but that seems overly heavy-handed, (3) Would moving Dybala to a striker role help? Thank you for any help here!
I am playing FM18 beta for Manchester United. In Super Cup vs Real Madrid I tried to be solid at the back, but it didn't work - I conceded 19 shots (7 on target), while my team only managed 7 shots (4 on target). I tried save/load multiple times with different tactics and every time they manage almost 20 shots. The possession is always ~30% for me and ~70% Real. Any advice on how to keep Real to fewer shots is appreciated. I would love to emulate real life Mourinho and string of clean sheets. I tried these two tactics, both pretty much same result. I tried moving mentality between Counter and Standard. I tried changing team shape from fluid to flexible to structured. Any ideas appreciated! Here is the analysis from the game played mostly with first tactics. I actually won 1-0 but didn't like how it went.
