Background Venezia F.C were first found in 1907, over the years the club would go on to be the biggest team in Venice, enjoying rivalries with Padova, Vicenza, Udinese and Verona among others. The club experienced arguably it’s best run over the early 1940’s, winning the Coppa Italia in 1941 season, boasting a squad that including future Il Grande Torino members Ezio Loik and Valentino Mazzola, one of the greatest Italian players of all time. Following their relegation to the Serie B in 2005 the club was declared bankrupt, following on the club would struggle to return to the higher echelons of Italian football, suffering bankruptcy twice more before the current iteration of Venezia F.C would come into being. In November 2015 the club was taken over by former Bologna president Joe Tacopina and financed by a group of American Investors would win promotion from the Serie D to enter the Serie C for the 16/17 Season. Squad The squad is ridiculously strong for the Serie C, the majority of players rated at Decent Serie B/Leading Serie C, one of the key issues with the team though is the high wage budget at 100k pw with finances predicted to spiral in the near future if promotion is not achieved. The standout player is Maurizio Domizzi who is still a brilliant player at the age of 36. His wages are a definite issue for the club, but he leads the backline and is definitely worth the short term as we chase promotion. Tactics The 4-2-4 is a bit of an experiment in trying out a new tactic for the Game this year, the main tactic is the 4-2-3-1 which essentially looks at dominating the games due to the talent of our squad and focuses primarily on ball retention as we play the game on our own terms. Transfers We mostly stuck to free loans this year Pierini and Diakhate are definite coups and both have genuine potential to be at least Serie A level players in the future. Bertoncini was a pick up to partner Domizzi in the backline and has the ability to play a key role for us next year if we get promoted as well. Giraudo, Bordin and Bertoli fill out the rest of our first team at LWB, AMC and RWB respectively, although none of them could be considered standout players. Pre-Season The start to the season wasn’t ideal, only picking up one win in our non-competitive fixtures, that friendly was also after the season had begun as well so not a key indicator that things were looking up at the time. We performed well enough in the Serie C Cup to make the Knockout Rounds League Results Contrary to our pre-season form we kicked off the season with a bang picking up wins in our first two games and 10/15 points from our first five fixtures. The result vs Bassano was a particular highlight as they were in 1st at the time and the win against our key rivals for Instant promotion this year (Parma) was also great for our confidence as the season got underway. The board expects instant promotion through winning the league, something we definitely should be capable of achieving at this stage. Whether our finances come back to bite us in the future is definitely something to consider. Cheers for Reading! I’ll aim to update at least once every few days
Hi, I am having an issue with Clubs in Serie C where almost all the club's financial value is estimated at £0 in the second season? I was just wondering what the work around is. The only source of income would be through sponsorship, gate receipts, player sales etc which I'd imagine has already been added to the database by S.I. and, individual club TV money for the season which is £200000 that I added via the advanced editor. All of the other leagues A,B and D are fine. It has just been serie C which as been a pain. Any ideas? Thanks.
