    New U.S. Pyramid

    Hi all. I want to create a new US Pyramid with PRO/REL. 1) MLS ---> 32 teams, 2 conferences/groups; 2) USL Championship ---> 32 teams, 2 conferences/groups; 3) USL League 1 ---> 32 teams, 2 conferences/groups; 4) USL League 2 ---> 32 teams, 2 conferences/groups; 5) NPSL ---> 32 teams, 2 conferences/groups; 6) 6th Tier (I don't know this) ---> 32 teams, 2 conferences/groups; 7) 7th Tier (I don't know this) ---> 64 teams, 2 conferences/groups - NOT PLAYABLE. Last year, I did this but PRO/REL didn't work well between MLS and USL Championship (former USL): infact, USL team affiliated with MLS team couldn't promote to MLS (or qualify to Playoff to MLS), in all other tiers PRO/REL worked perfectly. Anyone was able to fix it in the past?

    Dynamic relegation thread

    I decided to share my knowlege about this. Its one of oldest problem on FM. This problem driving me crazy for many years and i finally found solution. Some basic knowlege about advanced editor is needed here so dont waste your time if you dont know basics. Let me first introduce you to the problem for people who doesnt know. Imagine top division (we will call this division #1) with 18 teams. 4 teams from this division are relegated to second division (division #2). Division #2 is divisions with 4 regional divisions (north, east, west ,south)-16 teams each. In every regional league of division #2 we have 1 promoted team and thats ok - 4 relegated and 4 promoted. In every regional league of division #2 we have 3 relegated teams to their regional lower divisions. Eveyrthing seems ok so far because number of relegated and promoted teams is ok and we will get validation in editor. Problem is happening when relegated teams from division #1 are not equally relegated to their regional divisions. Ideal combination is when we have 1 relegated team from every region and game relegate them to right division. When that number is not equall we have problem. For example: - 2 relegated teams are from north - 1 relegated team is from east - 1 relegated team isfrom west - 0 relegated teams are from south. In this case (or similar cases) game will move 1 team from north to south regional league just to fill the gap and to get exact number of teams for that division. In real life this is solved in different way. For example- let use north regional division with relegated teams in example from above. We have 16 teams in league. 1 promoted. 3 relegated-3 promoted from lower divisions 2 relegated from division #1. Total number of teams is 17 now. It means one more team need to be relegated for every relegated team from division #1. -If 1 team is relegated from division #1 then number of relegated teams is 3 -If 2 teams is relegated from division #1 then number of relegated teams is 4 -If 3 teams is relegated from division #1 then number of relegated teams is 5 -If 4 teams is relegated from division #1 then number of relegated teams is 6 nowever we can have this situation also: -If 0 teams is relegated from division #1 then number of relegated teams is 2 This means only 2 teams are relegated 100%. 4 teams above these 2 can be relegated and they are in like we like to say "relegation zone". Now i come to the solution. I made some hidden stages in my file to determine what teams are relegated based on number of relegated teams from higher division. One of these stages is called "relegation zone" and this stage name can be seen in stage rules page (teams on positions 11-14 are qualified for that stage) just like when we qualify teams for relegation playoff. I will try to explain every step and i will use screenshots to make easier for you to understand this. First we need to make some changes to database. We need to make 4 (in this case is 4) secondary divisions (just add empty competition, set nation and make it extinct). We will call them north secondary, east secondary, west secondary and south secondary. Now we will add teams to this secondary division but in section "teams (secondary division). For all teams from north we will set "north secondary" as secondary divsion. For east = east secondary and so on. You understand this part. We will not add secondary divisions as competitions in system-they are here only to help with sorting teams regionaly. Now we can make system. Stage 0 Its regular league stage with just some adjustments to relegation settings As you can see number of relegated teams 2. Min 2 max 6. 4 teams are qualified for relegation zone - its stage 1 Stage 1 - Relegation zone Its league stage with 4-8 teams. We will set requirements like this. -stage 0 of this competion - because we need to use teams from 11 to 14. - stage 0 of division #1 - because we need to use relegated teams from this competition Under "teams" section we will make main settings. Using our secondary divsions and "ignore teams" option we will exclude all teams from south, west and east (because we set this for North regional division #2) After we exlude teams from unwanted regions we will add relegated teams from division #1 but game will add only teams from North (if there is any) because we exluded all other regions. We will give these teams seeding 4. (will explain this when i get to league sorting rules) Now we will add teams from our league stage 0- teams qualified to relegation zone and we will use this order: Seedings go from 3 to 0. League stage settings will be like this: as you can see we will use "team seeding" as sorting rule. With this setting our league table will look like this: 1. relegated team from division #1 2. relegated team from division #1 (we have 2 because 2 teams from North are relegated in our example-remember? ) 3. team from position 11 4. team from position 12 5. team from position 13 6. team from position 14 We will add 4 teams to "top playoff" called "decider". and we will set league fate for that 4 "top playoff" teams. This way top 4 teams will get "no fate" fate in stage 0 and in our case this means: 1. relegated team from division #1 nothing happens because fate is only for stage 0 of this competition 2. relegated team from division #1 nothing happens because fate is only for stage 0 of this competition 3. team from position 11 team is safe from relegation 4. team from position 12 team is safe from relegation --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- this is imaginary relegation line 5. team from position 13 6. team from position 14 Now we will add stage 2. Stage 2 - Decider Stage 2 is league stage with 2-6 teams. Requirements: Teams section: -teams from position 15 and 16 - those teams are already relegated but we need them to fill number of teams in stage. -qualified teams from stage 1 but we excluded those teams with "ignore teams" option because we dont need them. Those teams are already secure from relegation. -all stage teams - but without first 4 because we excluded them in previous line This way we will get only teams bellow our imaginary relegation line. League settings: we will qualify top 6 teams (max number of teams) to top playoff (without stage set) we will set fate actions for "top playoff" teams this way we will set "relegated" fate for teams on position 13 and 14 (teams bellow our relegation line). Mission complete!!! This are settings for league with basic relegation and promotion system. We can have promotion/relegation playoffs and this need more complicated system. I will explain this in next update. Hope you understand everything - sorry for possible mistakes- english is not my first language and this will be difficult to explain even on my native serbian language. Cheers THIS WORKS ONLY WHEN LEAGUES ARE ACTIVE AND LOADED IN GAME

    Fate Actions Problem

    Hi there, I hope someone can help me with my problem. I'm creating the lower divisions of Bavaria, Germany. In the relegation-playoffs between the 9th division (Kreisklasse or KK) and the 10th division (A-Klasse or AK) I have some problems with fates. So for understanding... there are 4 Divisions of Kreisklasse and 6 Divisions of A-Klasse. Each Kreisklasse has 2 directly relegated teams and 1 relegation-playoff team. Each Champion of the A-Klasses is promoted directly and the 6 second placed teams are qualified to promotion playoffs. In the first round of the playoffs the 4 qualified Kreisklasse teams are playing against another Kreisklasse team, for example: KK 1 vs. KK 2 and KK 3 vs. KK 4 So the winners of this 2 games are staying in the Kreisklasse, the 2 losers are qualified to the second round, where they face up against one of the 6 A-Klasse teams. another example: First Round... KK 1 vs. KK 2 = Winner KK1, Loser KK2, so KK1 avoid Relegation and KK2 must go through the second round. KK 3 vs. KK 4 = Winner KK3, Loser KK4, so KK3 avoid Relegation and KK4 must go through the second round. Second Round... KK2 vs. AK1, KK4 vs. AK2, AK3 vs. AK4 and AK5 vs. AK6 The winners of the second round are promoted/avoid relegation and the losers are relegated/failed promotion. Fate Actions are set for every possibility. So far everything seems fine. But ingame the next season won't start and in the pre-game editor test i see that one winner of first round is always relegated too and in the second round it seems messed up too... mostly 2 teams from AK, who's playing against are both promoted, obviously one of them shouldn't. Is it important in which order the Fate Actions are?

    Fallen Giants thread

    A few years back, there was a thread dedicated to saves where big teams went down. I have an FMT save where St Ettienne and Lille have both gone down 1st season. I always found these saves interesting if anyone else fancies it.
  6. This is a purely fictional mod, there are no real current American or Canadian teams present in the database. Also full disclosure, I'm British, so forgive any cultural mistakes. The italic text below is fictional background story to give some context to the database. It's a bit far-fetched, but given it's describing something that never happened I figured it kind of had to be. Read it or don't, that's up to you. Makes it more interesting though The year is 1869. The era of the steam train is well under way, cutting journey times into tiny fractions of what they were only decades earlier, and a new import has made its way across the Atlantic: football. British immigrants with fond memories of watching and playing organised, semi-professional football under the authority of the newly-formed English Football Association start their own, new teams in the cities and townships of America. Unlike our own universe, the sport takes off immediately, with American audiences quickly forming loyal and intense attachments to teams representing their local areas and businesses. Football quickly becomes the most popular sport in America, and by the turn of the century there are over 200 clubs playing the professional game across 14 large and varying regions. The number of professional and semi-professional clubs continues to grow well into the 20th century, despite two years pause between 1916 and 1918, and in 1932 a record attendance of 174,883 is set for the final of the US Cup between Manhatten Borough and Cleveland United at Hammond Road, Chicago IL, with a whopping $400,000 up for grabs. Cleveland come out on top in a narrow 2-1 win, with captain Harry Biggs scoring a dramatic 88th minute winner in front of the 70,000 ecstatic United fans. The invasion of Pearl Harbour in 1941 and the subsequent entry of the United States into World War Two grounds the professional game until 1946. After the war, football continues to grow, and a number of official regions begin to merge due to shorter travel times. On June 5th, 1958, the AFA holds a vote in Milwaukee, WI, on the matter of forming America's first national league, with advancements in air travel over the course of the previous two decades allowing teams to make much longer trips. Two of the ten board members vote against the motion, citing jet lag concerns and low numbers of travelling fans, but the majority vote to go ahead, and the National Division 1 is formed. The move proves to be a great success, with millions upon millions of expectant fans tuning into their wireless each Saturday afternoon to listen to their teams playing far-off cities in the hopes of a win. The average attendance to a Division 1 game in 1960 is 84,233. The radio advertising industry swells, and within 5 years a second national division is formed. The explosion of television expands the market yet further, and by 1980 there are four major national divisions, with a tree of increasingly regional professional and semi-professional leagues below them. Further alterations to the football pyramid in 1989, 1996 and most recently in 2009, have now left us with 7 national divisions, with a competitive and complex pyramid of regional divisions beneath these, and a wealth of major and minor cups and shields. The US National Team are the favourites for the 2018 World Cup, and the 2016-17 domestic season saw yet another record average attendance of 112,988. Sound interesting? This is the plan: This is not a simple database edit, it is to be a fully-packaged mod containing a comprehensive custom database and a set of fictional kits and logos to be put into your graphics folder. It is my aim to give each fictional team a real identity, with real depth. It is to be a long-term project which I can hopefully port over to future iterations of FM. No fields will be left blank, so here are some of the things you can expect to have been covered: All the usual data - rep, morale, status, ownership, rivals, attendance, season tickets, finances etc Home/Away/Third Kit Logo Last 5 years league history Records Bespoke stadium with location/local-culture-based name and unique capacity/expansion capacity I plan to add roughly 1,200 teams over 50-60 leagues with full promotion and relegation. The top 7 will be national (might lower this to 6), with a regional pyramid below. Clubs will be almost all professional from levels 1-8, and largely semi-professional with the ocassional amataeur team below. Each division will have at least 2 automatic promotions spots, with four more teams qualifying for an English-style playoff. Relegation will be decided by a combination of automatic relegation and relegation playoffs. Given the larger population of the US compared to England, there will be a less significant gap in attendance, finance, ability etc between tiers. Tier 2 for example will still have huge teams from major cities with 80k+ attendances. Tier 4 roughly 30k attendances, Tier 7 perhaps 10k. I plan to create a team for every city in this list (and major cities will have multiple): https://www.biggestuscities.com/ If your hometown/city is not on this list and you'd like it to have a team in the database, feel free to comment below and I'll add it in. Beware though, if it's a very small town you'll be stuck with a poor amateur club in the lowest reaches Edit: I can add you as a player too. If there is sufficient interest in this I'll aim to have a playable 'BETA' of just the top division by December 10th, with the rest being rolled out in stages/updates.
  7. Hi there, As the 16/17 season has/is coming to a close, I was wondering if it would be possible to somehow start a new save (beginning summer 2016) and use the editor to set who will get promoted and relegated in the first season. Reasoning behind this is so that for the 17/18 season, Newcastle, Brighton etc. will be in the EPL. I am aware i can just change the teams around in the editor, but that would then mean every players contract in the game would be a year out as I'm bringing the game forward by a year and the ages of the players would be incorrect. In a nut shell, I want to set pre-game who will get promoted and relegated from each division. Cheers.

    Removing Relegation/Promotion

    Hello, everyone! I am looking at creating a database with no pro/rel for Europe's top 5 leagues (England, Spain, Germany, Italy, France). I got bored of the typical teams in the typical leagues and therefore I have put different teams into different leagues. I would like to get rid of pro/rel to keep the keeps in the division they are assigned too instead of having 3 Championship teams enter into my new Prem. I am hoping to do this without creating five new leagues. Let me know if anyone has any ideas! Thanks
  9. In the FM17 pre-game editor, I've found a way from blocking specific teams from promotion, but not making specific teams exempt from relegation. Is this possible, if yes, how do I do it?
