  1. York City, Premier league, in Europe, Extensive Youth Recruitment, Exceptional Junior Coaching, Excellent Youth Facilities, Huw Jennings Resolute HOYD, Under 18 Manager, Assistant, 2 coaches, 2 Lower League Youth Intake Affiliates Currently Spawning 1/2 to 1 1/2⭐️ ability max And Spawning 1/2 to 4 ⭐️ potential Reloading on intake day to test it. Should I not be yielding any ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ current ability? Like surely the boxes I’ve ticked I should have a desirable intake after 15-20 reloads?
  2. Aye guys, I asked an earlier question about what new team to start with, and have decided to managed in a south american team, 'most likley from argentina or brazil'. I am not a huge expert in these league, so I would appreciate help on some topics. 1) What team should I start with-I would prefer one with alot of youth prospects 2) Some very cheap young players- as to my knowledge, teams in south america dont have a great starting budget 3)Just any tips-as I normally manage a big club in Europe, so any tip would be great Cheers!
  3. This is something that bothers me most about FM. value of the player should depend on their performance, not solely on potential. I see players who play less than 10 games for their team, with an average of under 6.70, and they get sold for millions and millions of pounds. Other players get sold for 2-5m pounds, even though their performance that season was over a 7.20. It's true that potential does play a role in the transfermarket (i.e. Martial to Utd) but I think performance matters just as much if not more. Another thing that should change depending on performance is player potential. if a players potential and current ability are 132, but that player has been putting in great performance on the pitch, I think that his current ability and potential should go up. & for players with the same potential but with 6.40 avg performance, the potential & current ability should go down. I think this would make the game a lot more realistic.
  4. I often like to switch young players' potentials from the fixed integer to the corresponding random integer range to add variability to my game saves (so I don't know which players are future stars as I do with the default database), but I found the 30 digit range to be a bit too broad in many cases. For players with very little professional experience, that broad of a range is suitable since it is hard to know how good a player can be until he's actually played some at the professional level. But for young players who have actually played some professionally but can still develop a fair amount (e.g. the Marcus Rashfords of the world), I think a range of, say, 150-180 is just too large. To give an example, sometimes I think a range of 165-180 is the most realistic for players who clearly have the potential to be good players in top leagues (165+) and may become world class players (~180), but not likely to be just decent (~150) or total world-beaters (~190). Regardless of the scenario, it would be much better if the editor allowed us to set the min and max to whatever values we deem appropriate. It would enable a lot more flexibility for those of us who like messing around in the editor, and it doesn't seem like a particularly difficult feature to implement in a database, either. I think the easiest solution would be to change the editor interface to have two fill in boxes that allow you to specify the minimum number and maximum number of the range. --- I know this is a stretch, but I think it would be even more awesome if the editor allowed us to set weights to the range of PA values. For example, we could set a player's PA range to be 165-180, but weight the random number generator to skew towards the 165 or 180 end, or just the mean of the range. This could be implemented in the editor by having another drop down option with three options: a skewed left, skewed right, and non-skewed normal distribution over the specified range (the lower and upper limits being the third standard deviatIon). Ideally, you could also set the mean of the skewed curves.

    Bergwijn potential bug?

I started a FM18 save with PSV as I always do,and Steven Bergwijn was supposed to be a wonderkid with 5* potential and have man united, chelsea etc. interested in him,but instead he is a 2,5* potential with Sunderland (lol) interested in buying him.Anyone else has that bug on him or any other youngster?
  6. I don't know if this belongs in this forum, but I need help. I recently acquired a regen with 197 PA. It's a 17 year old Colombian midfielder. I honestly don't know what to do, since he's got good physicals already and has 15 dribbling, 15 first touch, 12 finishing. I was wondering whether I can train him to become a forward (currently not within his positions). What would you guys do with him?
  7. Hi all Need help. Looking for a new club to manage but have a few pre requisites, those being..... - a club outside of the top league, ideally 3rd or 4th - squad with youth / decent average age - squad with potential for players to progress up the leagues - decent youth / training setup I want to take the team up through the leagues. I'm open to suggestions in regards to what leagues, preferably in Europe though but will listen to other options. Apologies if this is posted in the wrong place, I didn't think we had a what team to manage thread this year?!
  8. For some time now, the scouting of potential ability has been far too precise IMO, particularly for younger players with less game experience. This translates to forward thinking FM players just scouting the hell out of young players and buying guaranteed future stars for pennies on the dollar in terms of their actual value. This is an incredibly OP strategy since developing players to their PAs is a pretty sure thing (this is an issue I've critiqued in another PA-related thread). I mean, think if this was the case in real life: if you knew a 16-18 year old player had the guaranteed potential to become world class if only given enough playing time, pretty much every big club would come running looking to purchase them and so his price would more closely reflect that of a world class player, albeit less since there is still risk of setbacks and time needed for development. I mean, sometimes this is indeed the case in FM, but I'd argue that they are often under-priced given the relatively unambiguous PA and certainty of growth. Nonetheless, this isn't how it works in real life at all. Even the best scouts and coaches can't predict who is going to be world class and who isn't. Sure, some of the more precocious players have expectations of future greatness, but even then there is a lot of variability as to which players actually realize that potential. Hence, why there are still players who become busts and many unknown players go on to be world class. So, what would a more realistic, challenging system look like? I think the solution is to have a system where scouting of PA is far less precise in general, and the degree of precision be more a function of age and game experience (which can be viewed by scouts) than it is now. This would mean that scouting young players only gives a very crude approximation of their potential; and that approximation can be only be honed gradually as a player grows (both in age and ability) and/or plays more games that can be scouted (the more competitive the game, the better). As a player matures and starts to reach that potential through professional experience, then you might be able to hone in on a more accurate PA assessment, perhaps within a star or so. This contrasts with the current system where you can predict within a star whether a player will be a 4-5 star player pretty much from the time he enters the game. That's just not how it works in real life and it results in abuse. The final result would be that it becomes very hard to just pluck young, world class talent, and attempts at doing so would result in far more "busts" than the current system (where that is pretty rare). At the end of the day, the focus should be on developing (or scouting) a player's CA, with only a vague idea of their true potential. This more shrouded PA scouting system would allow for young players with low initial CA and high PA to be "discovered" or just be late-bloomers, and inversely players with high initial CA and lower PA might have high expectations but ultimately become relative busts. That is ideally how the system would work, at least until they scrap the hard PA cap for a more flexible, organic growth system (my personal wish). P.S. if anyone suggests good ideas, tweaks, or refinements to this concept, I'll try my best to add them to this initial post (with credit, of course) for a more convenient, summarized view. I know it's easy for good discussion and fleshed out ideas to become buried deep in threads.
  9. looking for the new Cristiano Ronaldo at LW. Any suggestions for young potential players????
  10. I have a request regarding the potential ability of players in FM. For those who aren't aware, currently a player's PA can be one value (eg 175), or it can be a range between 30 (eg 150-180). I believe that the PA range of a player should be completely customisable. This could be most effective when used judging the PA of raw prospects between the ages of 16-18. As such players are largely unknown, it is very hard to judge the potential of them realistically. Every year, many young players especially at top academies burst onto the scene, who were mostly unheard of previously. For this example, let's assume that a young player at a top academy has a PA of -8, (130-160). This would most likely make them a mid-level premier league player. Surely it would be more realistic to have a larger PA range, such as 130-180. This would mean that the players potential is more variable between different saves, increasing the 'unknown factor'. Along with many other members of the community, I prefer nurturing and developing newgens to real players. This is because it is impossible to develop them to a high level when they have such low/small PA ranges. This idea would mean you can never know for sure how good your youth players at the beginning of the game can become, and are forced to at least give them a shot and keep an eye on them, rather than discarding them on first viewing. Now, an example for slightly older players. If Phillipe Coutinho has a CA of 158, and a PA of 175, this is the same in every save. However, no one knows for sure whether he will reach this potential, or even exceed it, therefore I think a range is more realistic in this case. Saying this, surely a PA range of 30 is too much? Perhaps Coutinho could have a smaller range of 165-183, or something similar to that. This could also be useful for older players too. Robert Lewandowski is 27, can we be sure he has reached his peak yet? I believe his CA and PA in the current database is 178. This means that the game thinks Lewandowski will 100% not improve any further at all. There is surely a chance that he will improve, even if it is very slightly. This would mean his PA could be 178-184 or even 178-182. These are perhaps not the best examples, however I hope you have a good understanding of this idea. This may not make a huge difference on an individual basis, however if this is implemented correctly I believe it could help the game become far more realistic. Would love to hear your thoughts.
  11. I know you can use -7 (110-140), -8 (130-160), -95 (160-190), etc., but can you also use numbers that aren't divisible by 5 and 10? For example -73 (116-146), -86 (142-172), etc.?
