  1. This brilliant MC has been played at DC by my assistant every game for almost a year he went from awkward to natural in a year which is amazing but I would never play him there cause of his height of just 166CM and multiple other reasons Anyway just wanted to share this and see if anyone else has had a similar experience
  2. Why does the "Position/Role/Duty" training field keep resetting? I've seen this happen repeatedly. As my most recent example, I have a central midfielder that I've been retraining as a left-back for about 18 months. A few days ago (ingame days) I noticed his P/R/D had reset to Central Midfielder. I changed it back to LB:Full Back:Attack, and continued with the game, then just checked again and it has reset to Central Midfielder again. I've checked my Staff Responsibilities and I am responsible for both General Training and Individual Training for my first team squad. Why won't it stick with the training I've given him?
  3. I have a general opinion that when players play continously at a position with same players, then they tend to form a partnership with them. Yet, in my team there are just two partnerships (bw CB and bw DMs) made even after 2/3 of the season has passed (I play Barnsley in Premier Division, FA Cup and Euro Cup as well) and I have been using the same tactic for a while now. Maybe there's some training which helps building partnership. Also how does it benefit the team like better cohesion or something?
  4. In real life, lots of players are often utilised in new positions that Football Manager doesn't think they could ever be re-trained to play as: E.g. - Zinchenko and Delph becoming Left Back's - Lahm becoming a world class DM - Silva and De Bruyne becoming central midfielders (from CAM / Wingers) - Mandzukic becoming a great wide Target Man - Deulofeu becoming an effective striker It would be great to be able to re-train players to new positions if they have existing attributes that match these positions E.g. Lucas Digne / Leighton Baines - In real life, they both have great composure, technique, vision, passing - all attributes that could easily allow them to be retrained as a central / defensive midfield playmaker. Eg. Tom Davies - In real life lacks technical stats, but has good defensive mental stats (anticipation, positioning, workrate, teamwork etc). Based on his best mental attributes, he could be retrained as a holding midfield player rather than BTB Midfielder. (Obviously not retraining Messi to become a Centre Back as his attributes don't match that of a great CB, but his attributes may match those of an advanced playmaker for example). Timeframe wise as well, currently it takes too long for a player to be retrained, and often the end result is ineffective if they are not already at "Accomplished". This could be accelerated by training, match practice, training intensity etc and individual work on those attributes necessary for the role. You could even add some interaction with the player on convincing them of the new role to begin with, saying this is where you see their best position, convincing them when they complain about it during training. You could even add fan interaction to it, frustration that they feel the player is being utilised incorrectly.
  5. Current system of tactical familiarity and position training has certain problems making the game less realistic. Lets suggest some examples you can jump the examples and to my suggestion at the end ============================================================================================================================ 1. the manager plays a tactic with 2 central midfielders MCR is BWM (ball winning midfielder) and MCL is BBM (box to box midfielder) you set player A as BWM and B as BBM and play throughout the season on day A is injured and you only have backup for BBM so you put B into BWM role although B has never been trained as BWM role and never played as BWM, his familiarity is 100% Even if B is fully familiar with the team tactic and is trained as MC, role for BWM and BBM is different, and B should (in real life) suffer minor (not large, but minor) penalties in familiarity if untrained in the specific role 2. more radical example A new player C, 16 yeas old is recruited and his position is striker. The manager sees that he would play better as midfielder, and retrains him as MC. 10 years have passed. he is now a regular fist team midfielder, who didn't play as striker for more than 8 years One day the team is out of strikers, and the manager puts C into striker position. since he is "natural" in striker position and has 100% familiarity with team tactic (as MC), he receives no penalty although he has never played as striker for a long time. 3. Player D enters the team by transfer. He is a well trained right back. The manager is sad because he can only play natural as DR, and is 'ineffectual' for WBR. The team tactic uses an WBR, so the player is almost useless for months until he is trained with WBR role. Although it is quite a similar role the familiarity of the role is '0' unless position training is done. (I don't believe 20 RB with 0 WBR is possible in real life, as WB and FB is closely related, A FB player should be able to play WB role only with adequate 'tactical familiarity training', not full 'retraining') ================================================================== Therefore, I suggest that position training value is discarded, and integrated with individual training familiarity into a new concept, which i would call "RF(role familiarity)" RF is meant to replace current individual tactical familiarity scale and is a concept that shows how the player is familiar with 'his current position and role within the tactic' If the player's role is changed without tactical changes, the RF of the player will decrease depending on how much different the position and role is from his original one (example: minor = MC BBM -> MC BWM, RWB -> LWB should also be minor if the tactic is symmetrical (of course the player will have a separate problem with preferred foot) medium = things like MC -> AMC, AMR -> WBR (MC BWM -> DM BWM should have less penalty than MC BBM -> DM DLP, as the role is more similar) extreme = DC -> ST) If the team tactic is changed, the RF of player will also decrease, just like current tactical familiarity. But it should depend on how much 'he' needs to act differently. Changes in tactic with the defenders motion will have most effect defenders, some effect on midfielders (they will interact with defenders often), and least effect on strikers. The decrease in RF by role and tactic changes should be affected by versatility. RF for a certain role should decrease over time if untrained and unused for a long time, like match sharpness (but much slower) so that being a striker 10 years ago will not make him familiar to that role now.
  6. Hi all. I don't understand how to make a player more accomplished in his position. I retrain them in the new position I want them to learn and play them in that role and it never changes, even with young and gifted players. For example, Pulisic is only 'competent' as an right sided inside forward attack, meaning he only has half a circle in the display. I want that to grow but nothing happens. I kind of understand you can't make a player natural but surely they can become accomplished? It's doing my loaf in! Grateful for ideas!
  7. after playing for 2 years on new position with specific training, still at competent level...
  8. Hi ! I'm writing from France ! Sorry for my bad english ! Infortunately, I've suffered a lot of crash dumps when I tried to change a player's position while my team was playing a game. Thanks for helping ! assert_fm.exe_20161227092441_1.dmp assert_steam.exe_20161225214204_1.dmp
  9. It probably hasn't changed in the last couple of release but I'm playing FM17 so that's the one I want to ask about I'm getting the usual complaints about my players being overloaded with training, even when in some cases their overall individual training is listed as "medium". I was just wondering, does setting the "position training" option to whatever the generic "playing position" option is removal player training altogether for the particular player? I always try to train every player in the position that they are playing or that I'd prefer them to play or if I'm retraining them. Sometimes that position training just happens to be the same as the "playing position". Therefore is it worth changing it or does that just add extra unnecessary training stress on the players? Thanks in advance for any thoughts or suggestions! Nathan
