  1. I think this might be my first ever tactics upload and I've been a member on here for a good few years. As the title suggests this is a rock solid 4-4-2 for any level of football but I'm using it in the 10th level of English football. Your board probably won't give you any awards for entertainment but in terms of grinding out results they won't have much to complain about. Link below Rock Solid LLM 4-4-2.fmf The main principle behind this tactic was simplicity. My players are dreadful. My PF(a) has finishing of 4. Yes, 4. He's currently the division's top scorer with 18 goals from 18 games. The fullbacks stay back to protect the flanks. The RM is a winger with terrible dribbling so I've got him staying deep and tucking in but still utilising his decent crossing. He links quite nicely with the BBM who links the play and arrives late into the box. All of my BWM's have tackling of under 5 so when I tell you that we have the best defence in the league by far that tells you that this tactic is pretty decent. We win the ball and it usually goes straight over the top for the DF(d) to act as a pivot or it goes long and the PF(a) goes one on one with the keeper. His 25% conversion rate would be a disaster if we didn't create so many chances. Our other main approach is to get it out to the left wing where he gets forward quickly and combines with the two strikers. None of my midfield have more than 1 goal so this tactic is heavily weighted towards the strikers getting the goals. As often happens adjustments are needed. If you find yourself not breaking through (first of all, remain patient) I tend to go one of two ways. If we're getting into dangerous areas but getting outnumbered then I change my fullbacks to Support. If we're not able to get out of our half or the ball just keeps coming back then I move from Standard mentality to Positive mentality. If you're playing against a narrow side then also Go Wider (only if you're not having any luck), I also use this TI if the opposition has a man sent off. I start all games on Standard. I've found that that works well against all opponents. You can drop back to Cautious mentality if you're ahead and approaching half time or trying to see out a result at the end of a game, I do. the only PI's I'm using are Cross from Deep, Cross More and Sit Narrower for the Right midfielder. I'm not using OI's. You can if you want to but be careful, don't overdo it. If the opposition have a playmaker that's causing me problems then occasionally I'll press him harder but I prefer not to do that. In terms of what to look for in your players, I'll say it again, my squad is dreadful. That said, you want centre backs that are strong and can jump. Positioning is a must for all of your defenders. Your fullbacks need to be defenders first. If they have a little acceleration then all the better. In midfield you want acceleration, pace and dribbling for your left winger. Passing, Vision and crossing for the RM would be preferable. He doesn't need to be quick or good at dribbling. Your box to box works best if he can pick a pass and hit a long shot but failing that just someone who has stamina, teamwork and workrate. Your BWM would work best with good positioning and tackling but mine don't (unfortunately) so just play your most aggressive midfielder here. for your DF(d) you want your strongest striker here and preferably someone that has first touch. Your PF(a) just needs pace and acceleration. Dribbling, Finishing, Composure.etc are a bonus. As I've said my PF(a) couldn't finish his dinner let alone a 1 v 1. Something to bare in mind when looking over these results (League only) is that we were predicted to finish 17th or there abouts. Try it and let me know what you think.
  2. Welcome to The Non-League thread A lot of FM-players is starting from the bottom and trying to build a dynasty. This is for the hardworking, passionate and dedicated people who aren't afraid of getting their hands dirty. It is a lot of sunshine stories about non-league players who climbed to the top tiers, but do you got what it takes? Non-League football describes football leagues played outside the top leagues of a country. Usually it describes leagues which are not fully professional. The term is primarily used for football in England, where it describes football played at a level below that of the Premier League (20 clubs) and the three divisions of the English Football League (EFL; 72 clubs). The term non-League was commonly used well before 1992 when the top football clubs in England all belonged to The Football League (from 2016, the EFL); all clubs who were not a part of The Football League were therefore 'non-League' clubs. The term can be confusing as the vast majority of non-league football clubs in England play in a type of league. Currently, a non-League team would be any club playing in the National League and below and therefore would not play in the EFL Cup. We already got a Salford thread but I think it's time for a more general thread of the beloved National league and below.
  3. Dear SEGA, in many videos I've seen non-league mods in the game. So, why not make those 7th and 8th tier teams in England playable? Looking forward to hearing from you in the very near future, Ian Thompson
  4. The Mission Take a club from the 9th level in the English pyramid all the way to the Premier League. The Manager The Club NORTH GREENFORD UNITED As you can see, the board expectation is fairly ambitious considering we're predicted to finish smack bang in the middle of the table. I'll have to be smart from the outset to upset the odds. The Squad It's not much to write home about. In fact when you dig deeper its even worse than that. A new sitter in midfield is a must and some cover in that area is pretty urgent too. We have 1p available in wage budget. Yes, you read that right. One Pence. The budget is £201 and we're spending £200. Luckily we're semi-pro and I'll probably be able to bring in some players on non-contracts and possibly a couple on loan. I'll still have to be careful with the money situation though, don't want to get a reputation as a club wrecker. We don't have an affiliate club and its not something that I am that interested in but if things get really bad I might have to bite the bullet and see whats out there. Our best player is this guy: I'll probably be playing him as a number 10 in a 4-4-1-1. This is a very rough draft of a tactic. I've given it very little thought at all at this stage and just stuck my best players in their best positions and where possible tried to give them their best duties and roles. This will not only change over pre-season, this will be a work in progress throughout the save. I think that'll be it for the first post, sorry for the length. First time I've tried my hand at this. Hope it goes well.
  5. Long time until FM2019 but thought I'd drop this in now seeing as it occurs to me. I play LLM almost exclusively (Conference National all the way down to level 9). Because the crowd sounds are designed for grounds like the Nou Camp and AlianzArena I either have to put up with the sound of 90,000 screaming fans whilst the attendance is actually 16 people and a dog or I have to turn the sounds off. My suggestion, then, is as follows... Scaleable crowd sound fx. it doesn't have to be extensive - empty (just pitch sounds), tiny (a few voices getting lost in the blowy outdoors), small (the chatter of a couple of hundred people echoing off a tinny sounding stand), medium (a few thousands people cheering, singing and oohing and aahing in a ground), large (a full modern stadium of people) and huge (The Maracanã, sounding as only it can sound). The ability to turn off the crowd but keep the pitch sounds on (ball being kicked, ref's whistle.etc) A, perhaps, more achievable alternative. It isn't a massive thing but it would enable me to make use of the sound fx in a way I haven't been able to before.
  6. Hello, my fellow managers! I have a challenge for you! If any of you are familiar with the create-a-club mode on FM, you create a club based of a real life club in any playable division, you can remove the players, add new players, or create your own players, etc. So, my challenge includes the following details: Starting age: Less than or equal to 30 years of age Starting Reputation: Sunday League Reputation Setting: Vanarama South (or Lower if Possible) Objectives: Rise to the Premier League as fast as mathematically possible! Once in Premier League, Win at least 20 times Champions League: 15 times Carabao Cup or League Cup: 10 times FA Cup: 15 times Europa League Community Shield Club World Cup Next is International Tournaments: The national team you will manage is England. You have to win all international tournaments available to England! After that, you may manage any international team you want! Now, let us get into some restrictions: The In-Game Editor is allowed! All other unlockables, such as the "place on the board" or sugar daddy are not allowed! Players to create: you should have 2 starting 11's, including 3 goalkeepers and 3 strikers. The starting 11 will be a combination of players that are world-class in both current and potential ability and play in these positions: Goalkeeper, then Full-Back(only one player on either flank!), Center-Back, Midfielder, Attacking Midfielder, and Striker(1 player in each), the rest of this team will have 3 star ability and potential. Then a rotation goalkeeper from the UK besides England (e.g. Northern Ireland) above the age of 30 and 3 1/2 star ability will be added. (Optional) Create an 18-year-old striker with a current ability of 3 1/2 stars and a potential ability of 4 1/2, nationality must be besides England! Now the '"second team" will be comprised of 11 all English players with the lowest current ability possible, and with the highest potential ability possible! Pick one attribute from each category to make 15+: Technical, Mental, and Physical! Last Detail: Players must be let go or sold by the time they turn 30, except for your "second team" of all English players, KEEP THEM AT THE CLUB AT ALL COSTS!
  7. So hello and Welcome to my new save; I was waiting for a database to play outside of the Vanarama National North/South and here we are starting off a career with a football team not far from where i live. Bamber Bridge. What are they famous for? Well they did host the Czech Republic in a friendly before Euro 96 and got stuffed but hey; it's a claim to fame. The stadium they play in was originally called Irongate; but has since changed to the Sir Tom Finney Stadium a few seasons back. They are a good team to watch; and have started quite well in the league this season. But with the likes of Julio Arca's South Shields; can we actually get promoted this season after appearing in 2 playoff finals in the past 4 seasons and losing both of them. Next Update: Meet the squad and Analysis of pre-season
  8. Introduction Thanks for clicking! Welcome to my first career update thread. I have been playing FM for years and have enjoyed the success and despair that the game brings, now I will be documenting this in this thread for you all to enjoy. I will be managing in the Vanarama National North, I always tend to play in the lower leagues as I prefer watching them then the top leagues such as the Premier League. I will be managing one of my local teams - Spennymoor, Blyth Spartans are located closer however I have managed them in the past so I thought it would be more interesting to try somebody else. The Club The club were founded in 2005, so are a very young club. This is due to the merging of two clubs: Evenwood Town and Spennymoor United, who folded a year before the formation of what was to become Spennymoor Town. The Moors began their steady climb through the ranks as they finished eighth in the Northern Premier League Division Two and were promoted the following year. Finishes of 12th and 4th came in the 2007/08 and 2008/09 season before three back-to-back 1st place finishes, however the club were never promoted due to losing in the playoffs each time. The following season they dropped to second but in the 2013/14 season finally found their luck and were promoted to the Northern Premier League, where they would go up in the play-offs after a 1-0 win against Stourbridge last season. The promotion meant Spennymoor reached their highest position in the footballing pyramid of any of the three clubs from the town. Facilities The Brewery Field (above) has always been the home of Spennymoor, whether that be United or Town. It has undergone a lot of changes within recent years, such as improved floodlights as the previous ones had stood there for over fourty years. Dugouts, a player tunnel and a clubhouse were all created, the latter replaced the old clubhouse which was burnt down on Christmas Day in 2003. Spennymoor's biggest attendance at Brewery Field came in February 2013 when over 2,400 flocked to watch the club take on local rivals Darlington in the Northern Premier Division Two: the clubs will meet again this season. Squad The squad is very balanced in terms of ability, there are few standout players with a few exceptions. Bradley Fewster will be a key player for us this season, the young striker was released by Middlesbrough in the summer after loan spells to York and Hartlepool in the previous two campaigns and will be expected to score a few goals in the upcoming campaign. Jamie Chandler is another player that excites me, he joined the club last season after five years at Gateshead despite making 26 appearances in his final season. He is a born-leader and will be the key man in the middle of the park. Finally is Rob Ramshaw who is similar to Chandler having played for Darlington before making the switch to Gateshead, where he made 64 appearances in two seasons prior to joining last Summer. Finances We are definitely in a healthy position for a club at this level, as soon as we don't spend ridiculous amounts of money there will be nothing to worry about on this front. At the same time, we will accept any offers for a player with a fee, as at this level you can't really afford to be rejecting offers with a good figure. We will also be avoiding signing too many players and won't be offering wages of over £350 and also will be looking to limit the amount of players we offer figures of around £250-300 to. Game Setup I have loaded the leagues the game recommended me to and to the lowest playable leagues. These include: England, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Spain and Wales. I hope you enjoy the thread! Cheers, Scott.
  9. Hello, I don't know if it's just in my game, but it seems that the third qualifying round in the FA Cup has been done away with - meaning we start with the fourth qualifying round. Anyone else noticed this? It might not sound much, but it does mean that when taking over some National League South/North sides, you won't even have an FA Cup campaign in that season. I've noticed this for some of the newer NLS/NLN teams, like Hungerford. It also seems to mean that no lower non-league clubs will be in the FA Cup, which is a shame as it's fun being drawn against obscure teams. Anyone got any observations on this? Cheers!
  10. Hey there guys not sure if this is the right part of the forum I should be posting in, I'm in need of some advice from below the Conference North/South please?. I've done this save before since FM13/14 but it's been harder since I've played below my home town team Stockport County.
