  1. Hi guys, I'm after some thoughts on how to best set up my individual scouts before and after the newgen dates. I understand that I can find a list of all Youth Intakes through the World - Transfers tab, and then I can scout every single player at each intake date. However this is time consuming and also difficult with a small team of scouts as there can be hundreds of players coming through at each date. Obviously the AI will be able to identify the best newgens earlier than me, so I'm looking for some advice on how to stop missing out on the best young talent that comes through each season. A few years ago on FM, I found it easier to bring in quality 16/17 years old and build a strong unit from U18 age group up to the seniors. Though I do think it is better now that maybe less are coming through and/or they are more difficult to identify, i'm currently playing a save where I am aiming to bring through a new 'Class of 92' 'Pep's Barca' etc.... Thanks for the help in advance. I know many of us love the scouting part of the game and i'm sure plenty have some useful tips to pass on...

When you, as a club-manager in Football Manager, decide that you want to develop your next first-team players through your youth academy, you only have little influence on the type of players your youth academy will actually 'produce'. Of course, you can hire a certain head of youth development with a certain character, so that your club's newgens will be influenced by his character. And through money-investments in the youth academy you can make sure that the quality of your newgens increases. But what I really miss in Football Manager is the possibility to have influence as a club(manager) on the type of newgens you produce in terms of existing football qualities. I'll take a real life example to explain this a bit further: in real life football, the development of a youth-academy player begins very early. And in his years at the club until the moment a talent joins the u19's, a player's football qualities have been 'shaped' by the football philosophy of a club. Take for example a youth player of Ajax or Barcelona. Both clubs pay great attention to the type of football the first team plays. And both clubs want to produce youth players which fit perfectly in that type of football. Both clubs demand their youth to play dominant, possession based, intelligent football. Taking this Ajax and Barcelona philosophies back to Football Manager, it would be very realistic that both clubs would produce quality newgens who fit the type of football the club wants to play. Newgens who are technically very gifted, intelligent en quick. But at the moment in my savegame in 2021/2022, it only takes a quick peek at the respective youth players of barcelona and ajax to notice that their is nothing like a philosophy at both clubs that influences the type of youthplayers they produce. Even worse: Barcelona and Ajax, clubs who play possession football no mather what and also teach their youthplayers this, produce newgens with a technique of 5 and 6! In real life, this would be impossible because players with 5 or 6 for technique just don't fit the ajax/barcelona playing style and therefor they would be dropped out of the youth academy far before they would reach the u-19's squad. In short: at the moment, I think it is absolutely unrealistic in Football Manager that a club (and the manager/hoyd of the club) has zero influence on the type of newgens that come through their youth academy. In real life, every club that takes their youth academy REALLY SERIOUS and invests big amounts of money in their youngest players will have a type of player that will be produced by the club. I think it would be fantastic to be able in Football Manager to have more influence on the player qualities of a club's newgens, because only when this happens you will be able to really produce a clubphilosophy through the whole club, like for example Ajax and Barcelona in real life do. I think it would be fantastic if you can opt in a boardroommeeting/staffroommeeting for youthplayers who are good at possession football, or youthplayers who have great phisique, or name a other quality that you want your newgens to be good at in the first place. This would really improve the way you can influence a club's philosophy when the boards demands you to play 'attacking football', yet nowadays you just have to pray that there will be newgens who fit that kind of play. (English isn't my normal language, so I hope I'm not confusing you guys with my vague descriptions. I hope my suggestion is clear for all of you who are interested)
  3. Good day everyone, I'm not sure if this belongs here or in the General Discussion Forum but - well, here we are. Suppose you create a brand new competition in the Editor (whether it's an 8th tier in England to add to the existing tree or a division in an entirely new league structure) and fill it with clubs but don't populate the club with any players. Instead you rely on the game to add players to playable clubs. Which factors then determine the (current) ability of those generated players? I assume league reputation factors in but, based on the players I've seen generated, it might be based mainly on Competition Level. Then again I assume a Latvian 3rd level division will have a lower average player ability than, say, a Spanish 4th level division. Is there a quantitative rule? Or at least a semi-quantitative guideline? Thanks in advance for any helpful replies!
  4. Just a quick question Has anybody else noticed these seemingly "pre-loaded" youth players who are free agents and on their history have no previous clubs. What are these guys for and is their really a way of finding the best ones without some-kind of scouting tool. Thanks.

  6. Hello Everybody! A Sweeper Keeper is an essential part of my current tactic , he's got to be comfortable with the ball at his feet. I've got Mile Svilar who is doing an awesome job, but I need a backup SK. Currently I'm in my 8th season, I'm looking for a SK newgen every year, all over the world, but I just could not find any! All of the newgen keepers passing and first touch attributes are between 1 and 3.... I understand that Sweeper Keepers are rare, I don't expect a SK to be as good as Neuer, but I think I should be able to find at least a competent SK newgen with passing and first touch attributes closer to 10 than 0.... Has anybody encountered newgen Sweeper Keepers, or is it something the game misses?

What's the experiment about: -A comparison in the attributes "Consistency" and "Important Matches", so to check if they do increase (or decrease) after some years, in both real players and newgens. The comparisons will be performed with the help of Genie Scout. Feel free to make suggestions as to what else could be compared. Requirements: -A long-term save, having being saved in a 5/10/15/20 year period, for example: Save A=2016, Save B=2021, Save C=2026, Save D=2031, etc. (of course it doesn't have to be during a 5-year period, 6-7 years will do. And only a save in 2016 and a save in 2024 will still do) -Changes with the pre-game editor: No (at least not after the first save) -In-game Editor used: No (at least not after the first save) -Other Editors used: No (at least not after the first save) -Please inform me if you added or removed any leagues after setting up your database and what's the deal with the "Detail Level" in your save. Why am I doing this? An experiment was conducted here, which sort of proved that the "Important Matches" attribute doesn't improve as it should be. But, since it wasn't a detailed one, I want to do it again. Could someone share his long-term saves please?
  8. Obscure regens, being regens from countries less likely known for producing great regens, i.e. argentina/brazil do not qualify. It would be interesting to see what other people have gotten and where they had gotten them from and tips regarding obscure regens.
