  1. The sole purpose of this fie is to expand the US/Canadian experience for Football Manager as close to real life as reasonably possible. And if I do say so myself, I believe this file is the most realistic USA expansion for any version of Football Manager. There are a lot of different ways to enjoy this DB file. Take over your local NPSL or USL2 club (like my Emerald Force SC). Start with at the youth level, including the MLS academy teams. Do a Caleb Porter and build a college powerhouse before taking on the professional game. You can even make like Marc Dos Santos and start in one of the Canadian leagues (including the new Canadian Premier League). Or, just start in MLS while the pyramid below helps develop players for your dynasty. USA: Major League Soccer: All default rules are still in place (salary cap, allocation money, contract types, All-Star Game, Drafts, etc). Beckham's Inter Miami and Nashville SC join the league in 2020, as they do by default. In 2021, Austin FC and Charlotte enter. The Charlotte MLS franchise has not announced their branding so I have just “promoted” Charlotte Independence from the USL Championship. In 2022 Saint Louis FC and Sacramento join to give MLS 30 teams. All of this expansion is consistent with real life. In my testing, the actual occurrence of the expansion drafts at the end of the 2020 and 2021 seasons are hit-and-miss. Sometimes they occur, sometimes they don’t. I can’t nail down why. Could be something to do with hard-coding. Also, I was able to get Austin FC to mimic the FM Parent Club-MLS Academy relationship using Chivas USA from the database, but Charlotte Independence, Saint Louis FC, and Sacramento Republic will not be able to sign Academy players like the rest of the league. United Soccer League Championship: The league plays in 2019 with the same 36 teams from real life. In 2020, Nashville SC leaves the league to join MLS. In 2020, Ottawa Fury and Fresno FC leave the league, as they have both folded. San Diego Loyal SC and Miami FC join in 2020. I have also rebranded Bethlehem Steel FC (Philadelphia Union II), Swope Park Rangers (Sporting Kansas City II), and Tulsa Roughnecks FC (FC Tulsa), as in real life. In 2021, Charlotte Independence moves to MLS, while Queensboro FC and Oakland Stompers join the league. 2022 sees Saint Louis FC and Sacramento Republic join MLS, while Rhode Island, FC Buffalo, Des Moines Menace, and Chicago join USLC. United Soccer League One: Lansing Ignite FC departs after 2019, and Inter Miami II, New England II, Union Omaha all join in 2020 and Rochester begins play in 2021. National Independent Soccer Association: This league forced me to make some tough calls. The league only plays in the fall of 2019 with the same 8 teams that began play in real life. However, Philadelphia Fury plays all of their matches (they forfeited the season after their first game). They will leave the league along with Atlanta SC (Folded) and Miami FC (USL Championship) starting in 2020. Chattanooga FC, Detroit City FC, and the Michigan Stars join for Spring 2020. NISA plays a Fall-Spring schedule, but this impossible to recreate properly when the other leagues play a Spring-Fall schedule. So I’ve formatted the league to have Spring and Fall seasons (each with a playoff), with an overall championship in the winter rather than the summer. NCAA: All 209 teams and 24 conferences are included. Set up to mimic real life as much as FM will allow. 21 of 24 conferences have tournaments, with all 24 conference champions gaining automatic bids to the NCAA Championship Tournament. Players selected for the MLS Superdraft will come from the NCAA. US Soccer Development Academy: This is where newgens are generated in USA in FM. Activating the division means that the youngsters will get meaningful matches. This league matches real life as much as possible, but in reality the league runs on a fall-spring schedule and FM doesn't allow one division in a nation to run fall-spring if the rest of the leagues run spring-fall. Also now included is the Generation Adidas Cup, giving MLS Academy teams competition against each other and foreign youth squads. United Soccer League Two: Setup to reflect real life for all 2019-2020 changes. National Premier Soccer League: I am taking a hiatus on supporting the NPSL. This league, in my experience, takes away more from the game experience than it contributes. I can’t make the clubs function as they should do real life, and many of the clubs don’t even add staff or players anyway. So at least for now, there is no NPSL in the game. CANADA: SI has released an official version of the CPL. When I tried to add to the Canadian structure it threw the Concacaf competitions out of whack, so I decided not to mess with the Canadian league structure this year. I’d recommend SI’s DLC or yellowsweatygorilla’s file if you’re looking for added depth. Concacaf: Domestic Leagues: I have added the following central America and Caribbean leagues: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, and Puerto Rico. I have also added the CFU Club Championship competitions, however, because I have left the Concacaf League and Concacaf Champions League as default, winning the CFU championships will not automatically qualify you for continental play as in real life. UNCAF Interclub Cup: Revival of this club competition for the 6 non-Mexico Central American nations. ADDITIONAL COMPETITIONS: These competitions are revivals of defunct competitions or modifications to enhance the FM20 MLS game experience. Copa Sudamericana: I have updated this file so that the finalists from the Concacaf Champions League qualify for the second round of the Copa Sudamericana. This used to be happen in real life and there has been some discussion to revive this so I set it up with this file. Pan-Pacific Championship: I revived this preseason tournament where the champions of MLS, the A-League (Australia), K-League (South Korea), and the J.League (Japan) compete in a one-off knockout tournament. International Champions Cup: Adjusted this competition so that MLS sends in an entry. INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS: USA January Camp: This adds the annual USA National Team January Camp, that culminates with one or two friendlies. It actually even seems to work as it does in real life with the focus being on domestic players. Pan-American Games: This is a U22 competition to help national teams from North and South America prepare for the Olympics. Copa Nuevo Mundo: Patterned after the Copa America Centennario (2016). It's a joint CONMEBOL-CONCACAF international tournament that takes place every four years in the USA. Not a real life competition. ADDITIONAL FILES: I've included a zip that includes some data files. There is a file which gives some of the Lower Level clubs in the USA their managers to start the game. There is also a file that adjusts the USA transfer preferences to make them more realistic. KNOWN ISSUES: As stated, it is unfortunately impossible replicate the MLS-Academy relationship with teams that are not hard-coded to have it. So Charlotte, Saint Louis FC, and Sacramento Republic will not be able to sign teams from their Academies as they should. Also, it is possible that the MLS Expansion Drafts following the 2020 and 2021 seasons may not occur. In my testing, they usually do happen but occasionally they do not. -Some USL2 clubs won't fill their squads. Some teams will always have only gray players. I've tried different things, but for now there seems to be no way around this. My guess as to why this is the case would be because in FM, clubs in the USA do not develop new players. All new domestic American players come through the Academy system whereas clubs in other countries' have a yearly youth intake. I can't say for sure why some semi-pro clubs don't just go sign free players, but I'd say it's related to the unique US youth system in FM. -Professional clubs from USL Championship and the Division 3 competitions will sign players from the NCAA and Academy leagues. I have done what I can to minimize this phenomenon, but it is unfortunately unavoidable and unrealistic. The somewhat good news is that it will happen less frequently as the game progresses after the professional clubs have filled their squads. Here are the specifics: UNITED STATES Major League Soccer: All default rules are still in place (salary cap, allocation money, contract types, All-Star Game, Drafts, etc). In 2019, as by default, FC Cincinnati joins the league (as is the case in real life). Expansion draft still occurs. The big addition here is the 2020 expansion where Beckham's Inter Miami franchise joins the league along with Nashville, as is happening in real life. Some liberty was taken with the Nashville franchise, as they have not announced their branding yet. I simply "promoted" Nashville SC from USL Championship. The teams join the league as normal, however the expansion draft for 2020 does not seem to take place. FM obviously realizes that expansion is happening because it shows on the calendar, however it never actually occurs as it does for the 2019 expansion. It's apparently a hard-coding issue. Also included is the recently announced changes to the playoffs, starting in 2019. Seven teams from each conference now qualify for a chance to win the MLS Cup, up from six. (*3.17 CHANGE NOTE - I have now included a version of the file that sets all playable clubs in the USA to "Professional". This is not entirely accurate, but it does seem to help overcome the hard-coding issues that make it difficult to sign players at the lower levels). United Soccer League Championship: The league plays in 2018 with the same 33 teams from real life. In 2019, FC Cincinnati leaves the league to join MLS. Penn FC, Richmond Kickers, and Toronto FC II "relegate" to USL One. Austin Bold FC, Birmingham Legion FC, El Paso Locomotive, Hartford Athletic, Loudoun United FC, Memphis 901 FC, and New Mexico United all join the league for the 36 real life teams for 2019. In 2020, Chicago and Oakland join for 38. The 7 expansion clubs can be chose from USL League One at the beginning of the game. United Soccer League One: The league does not schedule any matches in 2018, however you can choose the clubs which do not play in other leagues at the beginning of the game (Chattanooga Red Wolves, Forward Madison, Greenville Triumph, Lansing Ignite, North Texas SC, Orlando City B, and the Rochester Rhinos) It also starts with the 7 expansion teams that join USL in 2019 so you can start with one of them and build the squad. League begins play in 2019. NPSL Pro: Does not schedule any matches for 2018 or 2019 and begins play in 2020. You can pick Cal United, Cal FC, or Oakland Roots in the beginning. In 2019, the NPSL Founders Cup generates with the 11 teams set to play in the NPSL Pro Division competing in the same format as it is set to in real life. National Independent Soccer Association - This league begins play in 2019. In real life the NISA will run on a Fall-Spring calendar, but this cannot be done in the FM editor when the rest of the nation runs on a Spring-Fall calendar. NCAA: All 209 teams and 24 conferences are included. Chattanooga FC, Detroit City, Miami FC, Miami United, Milwaukee Torrent, New York Cosmos, FC Arizona, and ASC San Diego all play in NPSL in 2018 before moving to NPSL Pro in 2019. CANADA: Canadian Premier League: Now that I know all of the rules, I have been able to recreate the CPL as it will function in real life. The league plays a 10-match Spring Season, an 18-match Fall (Autumn) Season, with the winner of each plays for the overall championship. If one team wins both the Spring and the Fall, the team with the second best record overall plays in the two-legged league championship. My file will record the winners of each half of the season, and the overall champion. I have also gotten the squad rules as close as I could to the real life rules (23 players, 7 foreign player maximum, and at least three U21 domestic players in the squad). Second Division: League1 Ontario and the PLSQ are recreated as close as possible to real life, including league cups. Third Division: Pacific Coast Soccer League, Canadian Soccer League, and the CSL Second Division. Canadian Championship: Is set to function as in real life. The six teams that participated in the tournament in 2018, with the CPL teams joining the other six real life teams in the 2019 edition. Starting in 2020 the L1O and PLSQ champions join the 7 CPL teams, the Ottawa Fury, and the 3 Canadian teams from MLS in the correct format. ADDITIONAL FILES FOR THE CONCACAF CLUB COMPETITIONS: Apparently modifying MLS in the editor causes the default CONCACAF Champions League to go haywire, so I rebuilt it. It functions better with the CONCACAF League and CFU Club Championship competitions which I also rebuilt. If you do not include these files with my USA-Canada expansion, the Champions League will not select the proper teams. For the Concacaf League and the Concacaf Champions League to function properly, you will need to drop the Mexico and Costa Rica leagues files into the "editor files" folder. These competitions have been modified to ensure that the correct clubs qualify for continental play. -Competitions included: CONCACAF Champions League, CONCACAF League, Leagues Cup GRAPHICS FILE: Also included is a graphics file which contains logos for all American and Canadian teams. It also includes kits for all US teams and the CPL teams. Screenshots: KNOWN ISSUES: -For whatever reason, the expansion draft does not happen for the 2020 or 2021 expansions. As best as I can tell, this is a hard-coding issue pertaining to MLS expansion. The expansion draft does still occur for FC Cincinnati. -Some NPSL and USL2 clubs won't fill their squads. That deal ended when CONCACAF changed the format of the Champions League and started scheduling matches in the fall when the Sudamericana was played. Now that the Champions League has returned to playing all of their matches in the spring, there has been some discussion of allowing North American teams in the Sudamericana again. I remember playing in Sudamericana with the older versions of FM and it was a lot of fun, so I built this file that sends the CONCACAF Champions League winners and runner-up to the Sudamericana. Pan-Pacific Championship - This revives a now-defunct preseason friendly competition that used to pit the champions of MLS Cup against the champions of Australia, Japan, and South Korea in a one-leg knockout competition. There is a third place match so two matches are guaranteed. International Champions Cup - This recreates the summer friendly competition that is played mostly in the United States in real life. This version plays the entire competition in the US and adds the MLS Supporters Shield champion as well as the Libertadores champion, who has been invited in the past. These are actually updates on claasen's files from the past (so I will remove them if he so wishes but he has apparently taken a break from the scene and did not update these himself so I went ahead and did it). USA January Camp - When I managed the US national team it always bugged me that I couldn't schedule friendlies in January because in real life they hold a camp for the domestic players (and guys who play in Spring-Fall leagues like Scandinavia). So I created this file to add the camp. The US will play two matches against nations chosen randomly from a list of countries that have played against in January in the past. Pan American Games - This is a real life youth competition for U22 teams from North and South America. It helps to prepare the national team programs for Olympic Qualifying. Central American & Caribbean Games - Real life U21 competition for Latin American national teams (No USA or Canada) Central American Games - U20 Championship for the 7 Central American Nations: Copa Nuevo Mundo - In 2016 the USA hosted the Copa America. After the tournament was a huge success, there was talk about creating a new competition held every four years for the top national teams from CONCACAF and CONMEBOL. This is is that competition. I call it the Copa Nuevo Mundo (Cup of the New World). It consists of 16 teams (8 from CONCACAF, 8 from CONMEBOL) held every four years in the United States.   8. Something for FM2020 to consider might be offering a 'start your own franchise' option in the MLS. Get to build a team from scratch. Can be achieved via Data Editor already but for many users they wouldn't know what to do. This would be an awesome addition.

When deciding upon my first serious MLS save, I knew there was only one team for me - one that won the MLS Cup in only their 2nd year of existence whilst setting records for player goalscoring, attendance, and eventually making the most expensive sale in MLS history. Playing in the largest ground in MLS, Mercedes-Benz Stadium. I will be playing from the 2018 season onwards, not 2019 when they have already had success, so the squads will reflect this. I never use first window transfer budgets either. I'll also try to explain (or show my attempt at understanding) MLS' various contract and transfer rules. I've switched my game to U.S. English and salaries to annual, in USD$ too.
  10. I've decided to start a save in the good old US of A . But i'm torn between the two New York Clubs so I'v decided what better way to decide then let this community decide. Below I'll post the two clubs simply upvote the one you think I should manage whoever has the most votes by this time next week (23/11) will be the team I will go with. As a side part too I will also take on the management of the National Team. After failing to qualify for the World Cup in the summer the Star and Stripes are at one of the lowest times in recent history but with some great young talent starting blossom such as Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie and Timothy Weah, the dawn's early light might just continue to be a glorious day. So if you can vote below also any tips on the MLS much appreciated.
  11. I know, horrible pun, but basically, this is a really good fictional team from Richmond, Kentucky called "Richmond Wild" that I had a random dream about, and they were really good. So yeah. In the dream, they were an op Barcelona styled academy youth team located in Richmond (the best we have here is Javanon, Lexington FC, Chivas Lexington, and Kings Hammer). So that's really it. They have really good youth stats (20 to be exact) and the only reason I'm doing this is in FM19, there aren't any players that usually come from the state of Kentucky, so it would be nice for a change. The game generates wonderkids for the team, but the catch is you have to win the MLS or U.S. Cup in your first season (I think, there might be a lot of problems, so please tell me if there are any problems. (I am a noob at skinning and stuff). (Also, yes, I know, it is an Arizona Coyotes logo, but that was the same logo that was on the club's kits in the dream).
  12. I love playing in the MLS. With that being said, without the USL being active it is very difficult to keep your prospects training and fit. They only get gets during friendlies or US Open Cup. Can you please allow the MLS to increase the cap space as the years go by. It would be neat to see that if in 20 years, you can get it on the level of Europe's big leagues. Only way we can do that is if the league gains prestige and is allowed more money per team.
  13. When playing as an MLS Club it is annoying to see these long lists of players your club has rights to and not knowing basic Information about them. All it gives is a name. To find out anything about him you have to use the search bar and then scout. You club should have them on some sort of searchable shortlist. This would be invaluable at end of season especially before the Draft. Also annoying when AI controlled team wants to trade for his rights and then you find out you could have used him for your team because he is better than player drafted or Transferred from Europe.

I want to create a new US Pyramid with PRO/REL. 1) MLS ---> 32 teams, 2 conferences/groups; 2) USL Championship ---> 32 teams, 2 conferences/groups; 3) USL League 1 ---> 32 teams, 2 conferences/groups; 4) USL League 2 ---> 32 teams, 2 conferences/groups; 5) NPSL ---> 32 teams, 2 conferences/groups; 6) 6th Tier (I don't know this) ---> 32 teams, 2 conferences/groups; 7) 7th Tier (I don't know this) ---> 64 teams, 2 conferences/groups - NOT PLAYABLE. Last year, I did this but PRO/REL didn't work well between MLS and USL Championship (former USL): infact, USL team affiliated with MLS team couldn't promote to MLS (or qualify to Playoff to MLS), in all other tiers PRO/REL worked perfectly. Anyone was able to fix it in the past?
  15. Hi, so I just started a save with a bunch of leagues loaded from approx 14 nations. I started unemployed however I wasn't too interested in starting right at the bottom so I gave myself good experience to give me more control of the type of job I can take. And well, about 2 months in, the LAFC job became available, since they are a brand new team I decided to apply. I got the job but they gave the me option to wait until the start of the next season before I actually take over, so I took that option. So prior to me taking over, I thought I'd take a look at the league rules and stuff for MLS, and it looked very overwhelming, I know barely nothing about MLS and I notice some drafts and various transfer windows and hell knows what else. Basically I'm seeking advice and tips for the MLS from anyone who is actually familiar with how the league works, because I'm very confused lol. Any little information you have would be greatly appreciated!

Hi guys I've come across something a bit strange when playing as an MLS club for the first time: I've got a player who wants to join me, offer been accepted by his club, then his agent pops up (on the contract promises screen) and says "My client is extremely interested in joining the club in general, but he feels that the club will fail to meet his contract demands." It then gives me no option to commence contract talks or even to make promises to the player. Just FYI - I've got £11.25k worth of space in my salary cap, and I scouted the player several times previously, his demands were estimated at £4.8k - £6.75k - so comfortably under that. There are no current restrictions imposed by my board, and although I don't have a DP slot available, the maximum wage I can offer a Backup player is £12.25k. What is the reason for this message, and is there anything I can do to influence this?

This file is the FM realization of the dream of all the American soccer Pro/Rel advocates. It assumes that the USSF opens the pyramid for a system of promotion of relegation. Have you ever wanted to take control of your local amateur side, like the Knoxville Force, and try to beat your archrivals and win the league? That’s what this file is for. As much as possible with the limitations of the editor, we have tried to recreate a real life FM experience for the unique structure of the sport in the United States. All-in-all, there are over 600 playable teams in 8 levels of competition. Major League Soccer - This file adds Los Angeles FC and David Beckham’s Miami franchise (Inter Miami) to the 2017 expansion. Also added are MLS Rivalry competitions for NYRB-NYFC, LA Galaxy v. LAFC, and Orlando City v. Inter Miami. Each conference will send its champion, along with 24 at-large qualifiers, to the NCAA Division I Championship tournament to compete the national title. The MLS SuperDraft will draw players from the NCAA, as in real life, so MLS clubs can scout for future talent. Premier Development League - The PDL is set up as in real life, with 10 divisions that feed a 22-team championship tournament. The teams play a 14-match schedule during the summer. National Premier Soccer League - Also set up as in real life with 4 Regions divided into “conferences”. The four region winners advance to compete for the NPSL Championship. The teams play a 12-match summer schedule. United States Soccer Development Academy - The USSDA is divided into 7 Divisions. In all, 32 teams qualify for the USSDA Championship tournament. This is as close to how it functions in real life as possible, with the only difference being the schedule. It is impossible to run the league on a Fall-Spring calendar, so it runs a 30-match schedule on a Spring-Fall calendar. All MLS clubs have academies in the league, so if you manage in MLS you can see potential prospects from you academy. USASA Amateur Leagues - Six of the more prominent amateur leagues in the US have been included. If you use a file that includes created competitions and/or clubs, then it will affect the graphics download and they will not work properly. Furthermore, if you use a file that fixes the names of competitions, then you will probably need to manually adjust it so that it doesn’t alter the names of the competitions in this file.   21. After the discovery of the fantastic @Uncle_Sam 's Pro/Rel custom database I have been inspired to start a new game in North America. I think there's loads of potential for North America to become a world soccer superpower, and I think a lot of people want promotion and relegation to create a more competitive league pyramid. It would certainly make things much more interesting and I for one would be much more interested in the MLS etc. So - I've loaded the American, Canadian and Mexican leagues, and started unemployed with no badges or experience. I will accept the first job i'm offered - let's hope i get offered one..! The aim - work my way up through the divisions and try to see as much of this great part of the world as I can.

I hade 3 players on that contract sold one and suddenly lost the spot along with the player:S Do anyone know how to get a new DP spot? Can you buy a slot? trade a spot with a different MLS team?   23. I've been thinking about trying my hand at a MLS 'franchise' but I understand their rules are vastly different to the norm of European clubs. Has anyone managed an MLS club in game or does anyone have any knowledge that'll help me out? The most I know is that it's split in to two halves and it has been nicknamed the 'Football Retirement Home' after many stars go there to end their career.

Re: Tactical Challenge #3 - Strikerless by herne79 "The Challenge Using any team you like (create your own club if you want to) create a successful* tactical system which does not use a "striker" ie., nobody placed at either the STC, STCL or SCTR positions in the Tactics Creator. * By successful, you should aim to at least meet (ideally exceed) both your start of season media prediction and your Board's expectations. " This started out as a much smaller write up that was going to be part of that thread but it sprawled and I feel like it could make more sense as its own thread. So here is my take on creating a strikerless tactic. The Team NYCFC - New Yorks newest and technically only team! Yes, I'm taking on this challenge in MLS. I chose NYCFC and MLS because of it being a league that has rules restricting the players I can have, making the tactic more important. As well I thought the makeup of the team suited a strikerless system so that made them my choice. The Players There are a few key players that are going to make a strikerless tactic work. First among them is world cup winner David Villa. He will be the "striker" in this system. His goalscoring ability will be crucial, but also his technical and creative ability. He might not have the most amazing playmaking attributes, but at an MLS level, it is quite good. Another key player for the team and for this tactic is Maxi Moralez. The Argentine is the most creative player on the team and will be able to play in the midfield and be 2nd on the depth chart behind Villa for the "striker" role. The Tactic The tactic takes influence from herne79's own tactic for the challenge but in a much different league and with a different team. This tactic seeks to create by having forward running midfielders getting past the "striker" into dangerous areas, and by having the "striker" enter the box unseen and pounce. the differences between my tactic and herne79's are in the tempo and action I think. herne79's tactic was set up to counter-attack and take down larger foes. however with NYCFC that wasn't going to work as we are one of the larger teams in MLS with a high reputation and expectation. So I needed to find a way to take that idea herne79 implemented and apply it to my team. This is what I first came up with. Control - I wanted to and knew that the team would need to take charge of games and be more attacking to take on opponents who would sit back and look to frustrate me, so I opted for a control mentality to make the team naturally play quicker and having a more attacking mentality. Fluid - I wanted the team to be broadly split between to units, the attacking one consisting of the front 5 and a defensive one consisting of the back 5, this was to ensure we wouldn't be caught out on the counter and to bring balance to a team that was going to have a lot of attacking duties. Team Instructions - The team was going to play out of the back, moving the ball upfield purposefully not hopelessly, and work the ball to the dangerous players on our side. That instruction coincided well with work into box, as we don't have any height in our offence and wanted us to work the ball into good goal-scoring areas, not hopeless crosses and wasteful shots from distance. The last attacking TI was, pass into space, this was added to help exploit the space the created by the "striker" coming off the line and creating space. The only defensive TI was close down more because I prefer my defences to be more proactive. Player Roles/PI's - GK - (D) - Distribute to Centre Backs Rb - Wb (s) Cb (both) - CD (D) Lb - Fb (s) - Get further forward DM - BWM (D) RM - IW (A) - Sit Narrower, Roam from Position CM - CM (s) - Get further Forward, Roam from position CM - CM (A) - Move into Channels, Roam from Position LM - W (A) AM - Treq Expectations - My team was predicted to do well this season, predicted to finish 3rd overall and win the Eastern Conference. despite being predicted to do so well, none of my team was considered to be the best in the league at their position, and the team (like most MLS teams) lacked depth in defence. Pre-Season During Pre-Season I used the tactic above and it went fairly ok. We lost our first match despite domination possession. The rest of pre-season got better though, despite some bad performances by reserve players costing us many goals conceded, I felt confident going into the first game of the season. So the first game of the season came as quite the shock... Beginning of the Season - The first game of the season was against Orlando City SC. I was feeling Confident off the back of pre-season and felt that we could take on a new look OCSC who were without Kaka after he retired and had a lot of new players, and we were predicted to win the game quite easily despite being away from home. The Actual result was not to my liking though We lost 1-0 off a goal from a corner and were not able to generate any offence the entire match, achieving only 1 shot on goal and only 41% possession. Something was not going right. The next few matches didn't go much better. We were alright defensively but our offence was not clicking at all. we won 3 out of 5 and drew the other 2 so nothing was dire, but I knew the team could do better, and that 2 of those wins was down to my team having better players than the opposition, not due to the tactic. I knew changes were needed. Adjustments - I noticed during the analysis of my matches that my left winger (Rodney Wallace) was receiving many more passes and having way more touches than my two keys players, Villa and Moralez. Almost at times, he was having as many touches as the two of them combined. Now, this would be great if I wanted a tactic with flying wingers sending crosses into big goalscoring strikers. But this tactic didn't have a striker so something needed to change there. first changes came to the left side of midfield. I switched Wallace from a W(a) to a WM(a) with the PI to dribble more as he is very good at beating his man, and to roam from position. The next change was to Moralez, switching him from a CM(a) to a MEZ(a). This allows him more creative freedom and has better link up play with the Left mid. That was all for positional changes but TI changes were needed as well. The TI's needed to be reworked to make the team better at breaking down opponents and to better utilise our key players. Thus I added exploit the middle, to focus the play through the centre where Villa and Moralez are. I also got rid of play out of defence to hasten our passing and make us more direct, and added low crossing since we had no height in our attack. To the defensive ti's i added tighter marking to force more turnovers and to stop the oppositing being able to pass through us. All these additions really helped quick off a great run for the team and we started scoring. For a closer look into that, we will look at my 4-1 win over Columbus Crew SC.
  25. Hi all, I've ended up with the dreaded "X has not finished in time for season update day", and I've not got a satisfactory work around for it. I'm at my wit's end and would be absolutely indebted to anyone who could help me figure this out. Like most of us, I've put an enormous amount of time into creating this DB. 400+ clubs and stadiums and 8 levels. MLS seems to be the thing holding it back. It's a 26 team league split into groups, with the top four in in each moving into playoffs. From there it's a 2leg semi then a 1 leg conf. final and league final. 41 dates in total, which seems more than manageable, but nothing seems to work. I've added and deleted dates, moved the update day to and fro, shortened the playoffs, extended and shortened the regular season, gone into the advanced rules for several different leagues to try and match settings, and still nothing. I'm wondering if it's a problem with the stages; I've separated the two conferences so that they have their own playoff brackets, and then the winners meet in the final. I'm wondering if the editor can't figure out that once the final is done that the league is done, or I haven't figured out a way to tell it to do that. I'm hoping to keep the playoff format listed above but will scrap it if there's no fix; I just thought I'd see if the community has any tips or more experienced insight. Thanks.
