RIOTS OF ROME It has been over a year since the infamous Riots of Rome which seen the destruction to parts of the city not seen since the war torn days of the second World War. We seen both the beautiful and ugly side of the game which coincided in two months of mayhem that left an unprecedented amount of carnage in our beautiful capital. So when reports surfaced through an unofficial leak last month, people feared the worst, they battened down the hatches, boarding went up, the Government and Police were on the front foot once they received word and to everyone's credit who was involved originally they put a stop to what could have been. We know the saying that 'Rome wasn't built in a day', but now over 14 months on from those fateful days in May and June of 2025 we can say that it hasn't quite been rebuilt in year either there is still things to be done even now, so imagine if you will if events had of stirred up again. For me, I could not bear it again and so with everyone's blessing we will start this 6 part document detailing the events surrounding the Riots of Rome. – Italian Football had been steadily on the improve, from the days of corruption back in 2006 we embarked through the turmoil to see the crowds return to the game and Italian football climb the ranks once again and be well regarded for the most part. Juventus were taking the league by storm, 12 successive years of titles from 2011/12 to 2022/23 ended in 2023/24 season after some financial irregularity's seen the Italian game once again hit the front page in Europe. Thankfully it was an oversight from the club, but still they paid the price with expulsion from Europe's best competitions and someone looking deeply into their books. In truth Juventus had struggled in continental football, with Allegri and Conte at the helm they had taken trophy after trophy at home but their best effort in the Champions League was a Quarter final place where they lost to eventual winners Liverpool in 2021 but that is another story. With Juventus dotting the I's and crossing the T's so to speak, it seen the pack catch up and a renewed interest in Italian Football, with that teams like Internazionale, AS Roma, AC Milan, Lazio, Napoli, Fiorentina and Sampdoria were now likely contenders AC Milan had cleared house and Rafa Benitez came in February 2023, he had a 4 months to get to know the players and work on things and he had good results in the few months and had got them into 4th spot. Lazio has sacked their incumbent manager Alberto Bollini after poor results and had replaced him with Red Star FC manager Matt Panpardus. Sampdoria had brought in Faith Terim for Robert Donadoni and the rest of contenders seemed quite settled, that was off course with the exception of Napoli, a disagreement between the board and Pep Guardiola had seen the Spaniard leave at the end of the season despite a 6th place finish with some heavy injuries to key players it was considered a good result, however Ivan Lenko replaced Pep, he came with a good pedigree having won the Jupiler Pro league back to back with Club Brugge in Belgium so there was optimism as well. As we know the 2023/24 season proved the catalyst for change, AC Milan and Rafa Benitez were runaway winners by 21 points, Juventus slipped to 5th and clubs like AS Roma, Napoli, Sampdoria slipped to the lower tables, Genoa were the surprise packets finishing 4th, Inter 3rd and Lazio finished in 2nd. SS Lazio Roma is where the story starts and ends, so in Part 2 we will look at their season and start to see what lead to the Riots of Rome. -- Hi everyone, this will be a pretty short story, about 6 posts, I had a fun save with Lazio after starting with Red Star in the French league so thought I would write a quick short story as I lack the time or talent to write anything better
This is my first save on FM17 after playing around the market with a few teams to get familiar with the game. FINALLY... I have settled with Lazio which looks like a fantastic challenge. There is no European football to look forward to in the first season. I have set low expectations with the board - Quarter Final: Italian Cup & Europa League placed finish. This should ease some pressure off my back in my maiden season of the game. Ultimately, I've settled with 3 at the back, 2 wingbacks, 2 central midfielders, a lone striker and two attacking wingers. Given the limited resources at the club right now and the overall quality in the middle in terms of depth being greater than those out wide, it's going to be my primary formation: 5-2-3 Wide. Once Morrison, Cataldi and Kishna are back from their loan spells next summer, it should allow me more flexibility wide because there isn't much quality besides my starters in Balde Keita and Felipe Anderson - I PRAY they don't get injured. In terms of my other problems of depth, I'm lacking a CB that can really work with De Vrij, a top quality one but I have no funds for that so I've settled with the upcoming Dutch defender Wesley Hoedt (who was already called out as a weak link by the Palermo manager... )! Stefan Radu will be the third centre back. MATCHES: I haven't changed too much so far. I've promoted Bezziccheri who is a hot prospect and that is about it for the youth. I bought Florentin Pogba for a lowly £2.6m who will be used as cover/rotation for Hoedt primarily. At an even lower price was the transfer listed Luigi Sepe (1.2m) who will be Marchetti's understudy. A reliable cup keeper for a season or two, for sure. I want to upgrade him with Muslera of Galatasaray, who is a long term target. Lastly, as a seasoned veteran Raul Meireles for free with just an 8K p/w contract(!!) is a backup for Biglia probably. So yes, it's been a quiet transfer window besides a last minute bid from Man City (go away pls) for Biglia so he's slightly unsettled but they didn't come back with a third bid around £17m so phew. AUGUST MATCHES: Crotone; 1-1 Poor result against the recently promoted team. A clean sheet was the only silver lining. Immobile had a poor game in particular. Radu made a mistake which led to a penalty, but thankfully Marchetti saved the day after Milinkovic Savic scored in the 88th minute. Sampdoria; 2-1 (W) Savic scored again...! But it was Keita who had a POTM performance. He is my brightest prospect in the entire team and I would ideally like to keep him around for a long time as he becomes a great player. Palermo; 1-0 (L) Team was very wasteful and deserved to lose this one in all honesty. Concern was that Radu conceded the penalty again but it was costly this time in the 88th minute. Hope this isn't a recurring theme! I'll update this thread as I go on, but hopefully those of you that have read this enjoyed it. I don't know what to expect as a first timer here but thanks for reading if you got this far!
Hey guys lost a bit of passion for FM of late an fancied starting a new career in Italy, Had a look at various squads, Parma seemed to long a slog for me, Inter's team looked to strong and have always been an AC Milan fan since the 90's but there team is obviously pretty poor apart from the obvious youngsters but lacks balance in the squad, the other team I liked the look of was Lazio, They had a really good squad with some good potential players as well as players with a good CA but room for improvement and actually not as much as Milan. Wondered if anyone has played as these teams? what they were like, recommendations etc. ( I usually start with 1st window budgets suspended also. ) Lazio are predicted to finish 7th or 8th and Milan 5th but am confident of at least a top 4 finish 1st season with each either way
Hi! I am playing in Football Manager for so long but from one month I am learning the player functions. Currently i am playing Lazio with the squad I upload below. http://www29.zippyshare.com/v/H3WAm6IT/file.html http://www29.zippyshare.com/v/QSMBCqqK/file.html And my problem is with scoring the goals by forward. That's the main problem. Also, I'd like to have the role like Ozil in Arsenal, Isco in Real, Eriksen in Tottenham and the other ''best'' playmakers. I'd like to have one guy in front of the opponent's penalty box and the three guys (Wingers or Inside Forward) - in my Lazio it's Keita and Candreva, but Candreva is Winger/Attack and Keita is Inside Forward/Attack. Moreover, now i am trying to play with 2x Regista. Biglia is the main one, but Parolo was a long distance runner but i've decided to make him the second regista. This is in Polish language so i will translate you roles and functions below: GK-libero/ Defence - Rulli Complete Left Defender/attack (cause it's inside forward in front of him) - Radu 2x Ball playing Defender/ Defence - Glik and de Vrij Wing Back/attack (cause it's winger in front of him) - Basta/Cancelo 2x Regista - Biglia and Parolo and... the core problem Enganche/Advanced playmaker/Trequartista/False Forward? - for Canales IF/attack - Balde Keita Winger/Attack - Candreva and... Complete forward/ advanced forward/ poacher etc.. for the Striker - Milik
