  1. Well, we are now heading into the ninth year of this challenge. It has been an incredible six years around here with some great stories, clubs, and players. Rlipscombe, Iacovone and Myself are looking forward to another great year. This challenge is similar to dafuge's, Gundo's & others, starting with a previously unplayable club and taking them all the way to a National Title and then on to the European Champions League. With a variety of leagues, styles of play, different rules, and many different locations for your clubs there can be a lot of variety throughout the thread, a great atmosphere and fun with all our users. Special credit to Duccio for the logo atop this years challenge. General Challenge Info Possible Countries France | Germany | Italy | Netherlands | Portugal | Russia | Spain | Turkey League Rules Top Divisions France | Germany | Italy | Netherlands | Portugal | Russia | Spain | Turkey 2nd Divisions France | Germany | Italy | Netherlands | Portugal | Russia | Spain | Turkey 3rd Divisions France | Germany | Italy | Portugal | Spain | Turkey League Reset Dates June 20th - France, Germany, Russia & Turkey June 30th - Portugal & Italy July 7th - Netherlands July 10th - Spain The Rules A) Game Set-up 1) Load One Nation Only (All Available Divisions within your nation) 2) Your choice of Database Size (Large Recommended) 3) NO Edited Databases of any kind 4) Customising Database You can add players to the database up to a limit of 100,000 in total - Change for people wanting more variety in their DB Suggested Adds Players from Top Clubs/Top Divisions (Europe or All Continents) - This increases the challenge at Continental Level Players Based in your Nation - This can add up to 50% more players to your game Players Based in your Region (Central Europe/East Europe/UK & Ireland) - This can add extra players likely to join your club There will be a file correcting the club/competition names, I will advise use of this. NO other additional customising is allowed. 5) Attribute Masking should be Enabled (In FM17 this means UNTICKED) 6) Disable Ingame Editor (Please do this) 7) Optional Ticks Add Key Staff (This will give you a Scout, Physio & Ass Man by generating them if your club is without) Add Players in Playable Nations (This will ensure all clubs have a minimum number of players, generating them if needed) The extra levels of detail that you can change while in the game are up to you, as they shouldn't make a difference. B) Steps in the Game 1) Add an unemployed manager, you will not use this man to manage your club. I like "Unemployed Man or Holiday Man" 2) Go on holiday until the reset date of your chosen nation (Should take about an hour) TIP - Changing Detail Level to None will make it go faster. (Remember to change it back afterwards) TIP - Saving on the day before this date may give you a better choice of teams by reloading the game then going on holiday for one day, I would strongly recommend trying this. 3) Add a new manager - Use yourself, or a created character to help build a story line a) Personal Details - Your Choice b) Tracksuit vs Trainer - Your Choice c) Past Experience lowest Possible (Generally Sunday League) d) Coaching Licenses lowest Possible (None) e) Other options are up to you TIP - If you add the language of your country of choice it will make it easier at the beginning TIP - Training now includes you at some level depending on your abilities. 4) Choose to take over any club which has been promoted to the bottom playable league of your nation. TIP - Easiest way in FM17 to see this is on the "Season Review" screen, showing the "Promoted Clubs" TIP - You can confirm your club by checking the Domestic History's page for not being at this level since start of game 5) Retire your unemployed manager. 6) Manage your club to National Title & European Champions League Victory 7) Completing the 'Big' Euro Challenge. C) Signing of Players 1) You must be able to scout them TIP - You don't actually have to scout them, just be able to TIP - You can check your scouting range on the Scouting page 2) Alternatively (If you can't scout them), you must bring them on a trial first 3) You are able to sign anyone sent to you via Agent Offer TIP - Make sure you screenshot the Agent offer 4) In later versions you can get your DoF to find players, he will bring in players not in Scouting Range, these are also allowed. TIP - Grab a screenshot of your DoF signing them D) Posting 1) Player naming is allowed. (This is a warning for those of you who do not wish to see this) 2) Discussion of tactics is allowed. (This is another warning for those of you who do not wish to see this) Expected Updates We have minimum expectations when it comes to a first up post and also in the end of season updates. The Bold pages are necessary for everyone, the others are some suggestions that will get others interested in your posts and following your club. All other screenshots are welcome and encouraged, but we please ask that the majority are posted as links, because lots of pictures can make the page very slow to load. First Post: Domestic Leagues History (Club) Profile (Manager) Overview (Club) Squad (Club) End of Season Updates: Transfers (Club) - This is so we can see the ins & outs League Table (Competition) Squad (Club) Information (Manager) Profile (Manager) Information (Club) Profile (Players) I will show some examples of updates down below in the next posts so you can see some of the stuff previously posted. Progress of your club should be documented using this thread, we want to hear the story of your club all the way through. Please keep us updated, even if you are doing badly. If you title your end of season report in bold this makes it easier to identify. Everyone will be supportive, and really get into your game if you give more detail, I also provide a list of some previous star players that may have become household names in this thread. E) Other If you are Sacked You can Restart from the beginning or; Continue your game and pick a new club (Under Same Rules) at the end of the next season or; Add another Big Euro League/Remove Current League, holiday a whole season and continue You can still only have one nation running at a time Once the league becomes active you MUST holiday a full season The club must be one of those unplayable from the beginning No Restrictions on Parent or Feeder Clubs International Management allowed from FM14 forwards (But you cannot start as an International Manager) The use of any external utilities and editors (Such as Genie Scout or FMM) are prohibited. As of FM14 there are also unlockables, these are also prohibited, please don't use them. It would be appreciated if you also ticked the box at the start which prevents the use of the ingame editor. How to Post a Screenshot 1) While in FM, press the 'Prt Sc' button (usually next to F12 on your keyboard). 2) Open an image editing program such as Paint and paste the image 3) Save the file as a JPEG or PNG 4) Upload the image to an image hosting website such as Photobucket or Imageshack 5) Post the direct Url to the image here. Alternatively using ALT + F9 in game saves a screenshot to your user data folder. (You can also edit this in the shortcuts options) The LLR Motivational Finally I would like to wish everyone taking on this challenge the best of luck on a long and hard journey to managerial success! The atmosphere and contribution in this thread has always been excellent, long may it continue. As core members for every year, LLR, rlipscombe, Iacovone and PRDH would like to add that we are here to help for the new challengers and hope everybody that participates contributes considerably to the thread. There is nothing better than getting immersed not only in your own game but providing the encouragement to other people's attempts too. Remember we are all fighting the same battle - to defeat the AI (and uncover fabulous newgens!) - therefore it goes without saying that any form of cheating will be severely chastised. Don't do it! We have had an incident in the past, lets not see it again - it spoils the challenge for the hard workers in here. Note: All the screenshots etc are from when I last ran the challenge in 2015, so I will do my best to update them in the coming week, but this is it for now.
  2. "Against All Odds - Les Bleus et Blancs" Almost everyone knows the name Dunkirk. A fishing village a few miles away from the Belgian border, it has a long, colorful history. Jean Bart, the corsair, used the town as a base of operations during the reign of Louis XIV. and at various times throughout history it was ruled, conquered, and conquered again by the Counts of Flanders, the French, Burgundian's, the Hapsburg's, the Habsburg Netherlands, and Hapsburg Spain. In an Interesting side note during the 'Western Schism' of 1378, English supporters of Pope Urban VI disembarked in the town capturing it and flooding the surrounding estates. It took King Charles VI of France with his army in hand to drive them away, but the town and surrounding areas were greatly devestated. Historians argue to this day whether or not this was the first recorded case of English "Hooliganism". Well, not really, but you have to admit, a historical case could be made.... Most people know the name Dunkirk because of the retreat of the BEF and many French soldiers from it's shores. Football addicts know of Dunkirk because it was the town, and USL Dunkerque was the team, Jean-Marc Bosman tried moving to. RFC Lieges demand for a transfer fee quashed the move, Bosman sued, and in 1995 the European Court of Justice agreed with Bosman, leading to a major change in the structure of European Football. Now, Wikipedia and FM do not agree on the clubs history. Wiki says they were founded in 1919, and have never played higher than League 2. In 1929 they made it to the semi finals of the Coupe de France, and made the quarters in '30, '37, '68 and '71. FM has them being founded in 1954 with French CFA-A and CFA trophy's. Either way, they've been around for quite some time, and have not have a lot of success. I'm going to try and take them from the Championnat de France National, thru Domino's Ligue 2, and into Ligue 1, and once there, be competitive. While playing in the Eurocups and the like are part of the journey, they are not the goal. Thanks for Reading and Following! Jellico73
  3. Hi. I want to allow reserve teams in France to be promoted from CFA, but I'm facing problems. After dealing with a lot of them by myself, I stuck with another one. It says that there are "not enough teams in CFA", (50 or smth out of 72, I didn't edit it), but the gap is supposed to be filled with the reserve teams of professional clubs of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2. It actually is the way the game fills CFA sub-divisions if you don't edit it. And it's the way I want it to be. I create new rules of nation in advanced editor and I have to choose the unified division type of league first and then male it sub-divisional to be able to pick CFA as the basis for sub-divisions, not CFA-A, CFA_B, etc (since it's CFA that contains clubs, not regional. The editor only allows leagues than do NOT contain any clubs, be the basis of sub-divisional leagues. screenshot related) https://pp.userapi .com/c638629/v638629579/3ec0c/2xO5GlFrAhQ.jpg Maybe somebody on here can help me with that, and/or with understanding the way the editor works (why is it okay for the original data base and rules to have not enough teams for CFA and is not okay when you edit it). so I can avoid facing errors in the editor and/or making mistakes if I make ones there. Or, maybe somebody even has made such an update, although I haven't managed to find one. And I've been searching for anything similar to it for a couple of years. P.S. I don't believe that spanish B-club system is effective since it's very separate (separate staff, little team control, etc), so I don't consider this option. I have FM 2013 russian on steam. I use the default database in the editor. I couldn't attach any files, so I'm leaving link to the .bak and, xml files (just delete the space between google and .com). https://drive.google .com/open?id=0BxM2OR4_0ksOYi03cXZhYlFIZGs https://drive.google .com/open?id=0BxM2OR4_0ksOMFJOOXdnZ3c2MU0 Feel free to ask for any more details if you need.
  4. The Return Of The Lions

Football Club Sochaux-Montbéliard The Return of the Lions Having recently finished an AC Milan game that ended up with a treble winning season alongside title wins for both the under 20 and under 18 sides, I decided to begin a new adventure. Having been inspired by the recent uptake in French Saves posted here and elsewhere I wanted to begin my own. So I selected Sochaux due to their excellent youth facilities and the potential to grow the team into a real force. The academy has produced several notable talents, such as Yannick Stopyra, El-Hadji Diouf, Jérémy Ménez, Bernard Genghini and Benoît Pedretti, among others. The club currently plays in the Ligue 2 in the French Set up and play their football at the 20,005 seater Stade Auguste Bonal. Sochaux are nicknamed 'Les Lionceaux' which translates as 'The Lion Cubs'. Save Objectives - Focus on developing academy players - A 'Moneyball' Transfer Policy, buy low sell high - Gain Promotion into Ligue 1 - Over time continue to improve our facilities and bring in the best coaches available Current Squad This is the our current squad after I promoted a few of our more promising talents into the first team. A very much French squad bar the odd exception and I'll look to try and keep a French core to the side as we progress. Given the French colonial links I plan on attempting to Scout Africa for youth prospects which will hopefully lend itself to our buy low sell high project! Finances We start with a healthy 12m in the balance. This is due to the real life take over of Sochaux by a Hong Kong based Company however the board don't appear to be willing to splash any cash just yet, giving me £0 transfer funds and a -5k a week wage budget! I'll be looking to evaluate the squad and see where we can cut any wastage in order to get the wage budget under control. Prospects Below are a list of players currently at the club who I believe could form the core of our squad for several years to come (should they not be sold that is!). Jeando Fuchs / Marcus Thuram / Emile Rzepecki / Gabin Lamboley / Maxence Lacroix Our main prospect is 18 year old Frenchman Jeando Fuchs. Fuchs is a ball winning midfielder however is quite versatile in that he can drop slightly deeper or play in the right back position. He already has interest from Spurs who have been monitoring his situation. For an 18 year old he already has good stats for his role and decent physicals. Hopefully he will develop for us and I will be playing him at every opportunity. Marcus Thuram also appears to have decent potential and I'll be looking to use him as the main man up top. His composure and finishing clearly need work but he has a decent level to build upon. Emile Rzepecki, Gabin Lamboley and Maxence Lacroix will be rotated through the side whilst also getting game time with the under 18/reserve squads. Formations Formation 1 Formation 2 These will be the two formations I'll look to be using throughout the season, I've used this style frequently in previous saves and had a moderate degree of success with it.
  5. [FM17]Basquet Case...

Taking a bit of a break from the Faroe Islands for a bit, off to do something different. Following an Athletic Club(themselves a fantastic team to play as) style Basque-only policy, but playing with a French-Basque club. Commonly known as Bayonne, the town they're from, they're far more well known for the rugby division of the club who are currently in the top division of the French rugby league. The bottom of the division, sadly, it seems they're a bit of a yo-yo team. Anyway, we're more concerned about football and here Bayonne start in the CFA2-Group H(5th level). Also a bit of a yo-yo team around the French lower leagues. Interestingly, their stadium is named after Didier Deschamps who's from the town, and played in Bayonne's youth team before moving on to Nantes youth team. It looks like quite a lovely town. This bloke is the best player at the club, suspiciously ranked as a targetman despite not being able to head the ball..... Already have some work put in on the staff. I did try picking up some young free agents, but the Spanish lads weren't interested in talking, as they wouldn't move countries for anything short of a full time pro deal, and we're semi pro. I mean, San Sebastien is about 40 minutes away, you could commute, hell Irun is about half that, you could cycle it. Here we go!
  6. Hey, I just wanted to know if anyone knew of teams which had new stadiums being built within the game? I know Tottenham have their new stadium being built by 2018-19 and play at Wembley. Just wanted to see if any other teams had a new stadium being built. Thanks!
  7. Massilia Rising

World football is built on rivalries. The biggest of these rivalries are the local derbies. Part of what makes the sport so special are these local matches pitting neighbour against neigbour. Look around the world and you will find a massive fixture pitting two local clubs against each other to determine who is the king of their city. However, in France we rarely if ever see 2 clubs from one city meeting in meaningful league matches. During WWII, the Vichy government in France reorganized the football league system along regional lines effectively forcing many city clubs to shut down. Since the fall of the Vichy government, the French league system has evolved into the kind of system we see elsewhere in Europe. Modern France also has some influence on the lack of local derbies in France. The French football system is one of the most heavily regulated in the world. Tight financial regulations mean that many clubs rely heavily on local city and regional councils for cash flow. Because of this it doesn't make sense for cities to support multiple teams who wouldn't be as successful as one single team who can rise to the top of the league. The 2000's have seen a rise of "second" clubs in large French cities being promoted into the higher reaches of the French league system. Red Star (Paris) is currently in Ligue 2, while the National (3rd division) has the likes of Paris FC, Lyon-La Duchere, and the subject of our series; Group Sportive Consolat from Marseille. Consolat is a small club located in the northern suburbs of Marseille. The won promotion to the Championnat National in 2014 after winning their group of the CFA. They play their matches at the tiny Stade La Martine which boasts a capacity of only 2,000 spectators. The club is currently semi-professional and competes in the Championnat National and the Coupe de France where they enter in the 5th round. My ultimate goal with this series is take Consolat to the top of French football. This means ultimately winning the Ligue 1 title. The hope is cement Consolat among the top tier of French football, competing consistently with PSG, Lyon, Monaco and of course Olympique de Marseille. I've set up the game with all the levels of France as playable, and with the top 2 divisions in England, Spain, Germany and Italy as view only. I don't use the game editor in any way, and the only additions to the game are the Real Names pack, and kit packs from Sortitoutsi. Our manager for this journey is Yassine Saadi, a 37-year old Frenchman born in Marseille who also hold Algerian citizenship. He has played in the regional leagues in the past, and holds a National A license. I hope you'll join me in this quest to bring Consolat to the top of Marseille, and of France.
  8. Hi everyone. That's my career update here in SI Forum, so I try one of most challenging things in FM: The Youth Challenge, and choose France, and used a DB to expand the French League at the tier 7 - the DHR. After one holiday season, choose a AS Brestoise for a team. Explain the team, please. AS Brestoise (Association Sportive Brestoise) has founded in August 5th, 1905 and they should have come to Ligue 1,the top french division. The best performance for the team history is the two quarter-final of French Cup, in the far season of 1932-33, and the season of 1962-63. The most important players for AS Brestoise history is Paul Le Guen (PSG player for almost eight years) and Corentin Martins, coach of Mauritania. Fine. And your stadium? They play in a Stade Menez Paul, with a capacity of 3.800 people, but only 150 seated. The Stade has founded in July 18th, 1933. The investment for the stadium it reached a value close to one million French francs. Too much money for that time. Ok, but what Brestoise? Brest have a one Ligue 2 team, the Stade Brestoise 29. They have some rivalry with our team. That's interesting grow up into the next seasons and took the place of most important in Brest. Other thing is the Bretagne region: They only have a three teams in Ligue 1: Guingamp, Lorient and Stade Rennais. In Ligue 2, only Stade Brestoise 29 and, after that, five teams in National (tier 4): Concarneau, Lorient B, Stade Plabennécois, Saint-Malo and Vitré. That's the only teams in the top four divisions in France. Very little. Right. And why a Youth Challenge in a Tier 7 (DHR)? I believe it is interesting to see the growth of the team and players when it is at a very low division. Moreover, my idea is to make the club grow , both structurally as well as the quality of it's players. Nice. What's your database? French Tier 7 (DHR) + Create players for the teams Patch: 15.3.2
