  5. Welcome back to the thread of the only french team who won the Champions League, l’OM ! History and glory days... Olympique de Marseille was founded by René Dufaure de Montmirail, a French sports official, in 1892 as an omnisport club. Known as Sporting Club, US Phocéenne and Football Club de Marseille in the first five years after their foundation, the club adopted the name Olympique de Marseille in 1899 in honour of the anniversary of Marseille's founding by Greeks from Phocaea some 25 centuries earlier, with the name Olympique, coming from ancient Olympic Games. The first period of Olympique de Marseille's domination of the French League started in the early 1970s under Marcel Leclerc's presidency (1965–1972). His ambition allowed Marseille to return to the First division in 1965–66. They went on to win the Coupe de France in 1969 as well as the First division in 1971 with a record of 44 goals by Josip Skoblar, helped by Roger Magnusson. The arrival of Georges Carnus and Bernard Bosquier from Saint-Étienne helped them to win the Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France in 1972. Marseille played in the European Cup in 1971–72 and 1972–73, but were knocked-out by Ajax of Johan Cruyff and Juventus, respectively. However, success was not to last. Marcel Leclerc was forced to leave the club on 19 July 1972. The President was a stubborn man, and he threatened the whole league by threatening to withdraw his professional team from Ligue 1 because the federation refused to accept three foreign players in one team (Leclerc wanted to acquire the Hungarian star Zoltán Varga but he had already the maximum number of two foreigners in his team). But Marseille decided, instead of following Leclerc against the league, to fire him.[4] Then followed an era of crisis, with Marseille only winning a Coupe de France in 1976 and being relegated to the second division, where they played with a bunch of young local players: the Minots who allowed the team to return to First division in 1984. Éric Di Meco was one of them. On 12 April 1986, Bernard Tapie became president, thanks to Marseille mayor Gaston Defferre, and promptly built the greatest team ever seen in France. His first signings were Karl-Heinz Forster and Alain Giresse, who were bought after the 1986 FIFA World Cup. Tapie signed a large number of highly regarded players over the next few years in his pursuit of the European Cup, such as Jean-Pierre Papin, Chris Waddle, Klaus Allofs, Enzo Francescoli, Abedi Pelé, Didier Deschamps, Basile Boli, Marcel Desailly, Rudi Völler and Eric Cantona as well as appointing high-profile coaches like Franz Beckenbauer, Gérard Gili and Raymond Goethals. Between 1989 and 1992, Olympique de Marseille won four league titles in a row and the French Cup. The highlight of the club's history is winning the new format Champions League in 1993. Basile Boli scored the only goal against Italy's Milan in the final held in Munich's Olympic Stadium. That triumph was the first time ever for a French club and it made Didier Deschamps and Fabien Barthez the youngest captain and goalkeeper, respectively, to capture the title. This triumph, however, was followed by a decade of decline. In 1994, due to financial irregularities and a match fixing scandal involving then president Bernard Tapie, they suffered enforced relegation to the second division, where Marseille stayed two years before returning to the First division. Moreover, they lost their 1992–93 Division 1 title and the right to play in the UEFA Champions League 1993-94, the 1993 European Super Cup and the 1993 Intercontinental Cup. Marseille returned to the top flight in 1996 with backing from Adidas's owner Robert Louis-Dreyfus. He chose Rolland Courbis as coach, signed Fabrizio Ravanelli, Laurent Blanc, and Andreas Köpke, and Marseille finished 11th for his return. For the 1998–99 season, the team celebrated their centenary and built a team of stars: Robert Pirès, Florian Maurice, and Christophe Dugarry, culminating in a second-place finish in the French championship, behind Bordeaux and an appearance in the UEFA Cup Final in 1999, losing to Parma. Courbis left the team in November 1999 after a poor start to the season. The closest Marseille got to another trophy was when they reached the UEFA Cup Final in 2004, impressively beating Dnipro, Internazionale, Liverpool, and Newcastle United along the way. But they were beaten in the final by newly crowned Spanish champions Valencia and once again fans were forced to continue waiting for the next trophy to come along. In 2005, Marseille succeeded in winning the Intertoto Cup, beating the likes of Lazio and Deportivo de La Coruña in doing so, and earning another shot at the UEFA Cup. The club struggled in the 2011–12 season, going to the bottom of the Ligue 1 table after six matches. Nevertheless, Marseille rebounded, winning 3–0 against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, as well as a 3–0 success over rivals PSG in November of that year. Marseille ended 2011 with a good sequence, also qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League for the second season running. In February 2012, Marseille embarked on 13 games without victory, but rallied to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time since winning the competition in 1993. Despite an indifferent club form, OM lost to eventual finalists Bayern Munich, and slumped to an overall tenth-place finish in Ligue 1. However, the club retained the Coupe de la Ligue for the third year running, beating Lyon 1–0 in the Final. In the summer of 2012, Deschamps resigned, and later taking on the France job. Elie Baup took over, leading the club to a surprising second-place finish in the 2012–13 season despite selling multiple key players, including Loïc Rémy, César Azpilicueta and Stéphane Mbia. Marseille returned to the Champions League, spending close to €40 million on the likes of Dimitri Payet, Florian Thauvin and Giannelli Imbula. The club were top of the table at the end of August 2013, but OM proceeded to lose all six games in Europe, suffering the ignominy of becoming the first French team, and the biggest European team to date, to have picked up zero points in a Champions League group stage. Baup was sacked on 7 December 2013, following the 1–0 defeat to Nantes at Stade Velodrome. He was replaced on an interim basis by Jose Anigo. In Anigo's brief tenure, OM went out of the two cups, and struggled, leading to continued protests and jeers by fans. The club finished sixth in the 2014 season, missing out on an important European competition place for the first time in ten years. Anigo left the club soon after, taking on an ambassadorial/scouting role in North Africa, his first post outside of the city for more than four decades. Modern days... We had a tough time with Margarita Louis Dreyfus last days at the club... No money to spend, selling our top players every year, no trophies on our shelves A new era has come with american new owner Frank Mccourt, who definitely wants to give Marseille a boost in order to be successful again which is the club D.N.A !! Stadium If you take in charge Marseille you will discover the wonderful Stade Velodrome, fully renovated in 2014, you now have a breath taking place of 67.000 fans which are going to help you to win ! It's obviously the biggest stadium available for a French Ligue 1 team so far, but you will have to be good enough to fill all the empty seats that the stadium used to have in the last years...and Marseille fans are really tough to convince so be smart ! Your facilities are also excellent, and will need few improvements OM CHAMPIONS PROJECT Marseille just got a new boss Mr Franck McCourt, american bilionnaire, which already came with his ideas and a project "OM CHAMPIONS PROJECT" The aim for him is to be on the top 3 in the league, which means in France Champions League football, In order to achieve these goals Marseille's boss pumped some significant money last winter bringing back home Payet, Evra and some young bolld like Sanson for more than 40M€, which was a huge improvment for the squad The backroom staff had been improved as well with the likes of Zubizareta joining the club as D.O.F New boss and new President all together Rivals As you are a playing a successful club, you'll obviously have plenty of rivals, in the south of France you'll have derbies against AS Monaco and OGCN, Olympique Lyonnais, but the main thing is Paris Saint Germain !! That's the game you MUST not lose ! Would you stop our 14 games streak without a single victory against PSG in any competitions ?? Kit Why Marseille ? Because you now have a boss who wants to give Marseille a great boost and will give you money for that !! Because your last victory against PSG was in 2011 !! Because you have to stop PSG dominance !! Because your stadium is the most beautiful in Ligue 1 Because the challenge is huge in France as you have top teams around and you're a sleeping giant !! Because you need and have to bring back another Champions League on our shelves !! Link for last year thread ALLEZ L'OM
  6. First off, I started a career mode with Liverpool, I spent about 4 seasons before I got sacked. Later on, I accepted Monaco's offer and I have spent about five seasons managing Monaco. I just concluded the fifth season, and there's this strange bug that started obstructing the progress of the game. Counting from the month of June where it updates player career stats and also process the club's finances, a bug suddenly pops up as it quits the game. And on the home screen it says, "Unfortunately FMM18 has stopped." I've tried restarting my phone plus clearing cache, yet the problem remains. I don't know if this can be rectified, but I think it would be my last time playing this game if it eventually happens that there is no solution to solve this problem. I don't want to clear the game data because I do not want to lose the current career mode with Monaco. I mean what's the essence doing that? That is suppose to be the joy/fun we derived from the game. Have you for once encountered such bug? Were you able to solve it and continue your game? Please reply and help a soul, thanks...

  8. I'm Andy by name, and I have always been a fan of football manager (mobile version). I've been playing this game for about 4 years now, and I believe the game is matured enough for proper updates. After purchasing the latest FM mobile, I noticed there wasn't much difference from the previous version. In fact, I still prefer playing the 2017 version. I don't know how possible it is to get these updates in the future, but I would suggest my opinion on it. I don't see myself wasting my funds in the future for something that is unsatisfying. While playing the FM mobile 2018, I noticed some issues/updates which I thought you guys could work out about the game. Sometimes transfers don't get through even after agreements with both a player and a club. However, I only experienced this when I tried selling some of my players. The others went well, but one didn't go through as expected. I always received a message via inbox that the transfer of Sinclair can now be completed, but in the message there isn't any option to confirm the sale. The worst part is that the message kept coming repeatedly, I tried transfer listing him again but no clubs were bidding, I checked the player's status and it says (Looking forward to joining Westham). It has been like this for 2 seasons now, please if it could be fixed I would appreciate the developers effort on that. SUGGESTED UPDATES: 1. There should be more media interactions, just like there are match conferences/interviews in real world football with coaches and key players giving their views on few questions, this is how it is in real world football. As a coach, I would like to also comment on players of other teams, and other coaches should be able to do so at my players as well. Much fun could be added when these features are included. 2. It feels boring when playing a game like this without sound. At least when a player scores, there's suppose to be a celebrating sound. This should also apply when my team wins a final or league. There should be congratulatory sound when you beat your toughest rival, it should also apply after a victory on a semifinal match. If I could make a suggestion towards that, I think the popular champions league music should be added plus a celebrating chant when a team wins the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE cup, while every other competitions can have a normal celebrating sound. 3. The developers should also add the most valuable/richest/best teams roaster at every season/year. There should be national teams ranking just like the FIFA world ranking. Lastly, I wanna comment on some common complaints made by some fans, I've seen many people complaining about how difficult the game was to them and thereby rating down FM. To me, the harder the game the sweeter the fun. If the game was too easy for them, they all would still complain. It feels so nice looking for a solution to a difficult problem, that's where most of the fun lies upon. I once felt like them when I had difficulty winning matches, I understood that there were factors responsible for that. I took my time to try different tactics and also tried some players with a different role, and at last it worked out for me for that season! I started winning matches once again. What's more, even in real world football, bigger teams do get beaten by smaller teams at times, most especially when the bigger teams have some problems, like injuries, player morales, fatigue etc. So I don't see any reason why people complain about the game being difficult. Y'all also forgot you once fault/blame Mourinho, Guardiola, Wenger, Conte etc, over some disappointing results they had at a time. Unfortunately, this is how it is with those coaches. It isn't easy as they have to scrutinized their formations, tactics and squads to get the best of them. Some others do complained about getting sacked by the board, I'm fully in support of the board. They have some requirements given to the manager for the season, and if the manager fails to get them what they want, then it shouldn't be any deal getting them sacked. I want the board to be more strict, although sometimes there should be considerations if maybe the manager deserves a second chance. I really hope the developers see this and give in to my epistle on FM mobile. Looking forward to a better update. Regards, Andy...
  9. I’ve been playing this FM18 save for 4 seasons now and I’ve never once had this problem. Every time I save the game I get the pop up message “Football Manager 2018 18.2.2f1055984 has stopped working.” Which results in the program closing. The crash only ever happens when I save the game. In terms of custom graphics/logos, graphics driver, virus protection etc nothing has changed from the 4 previous seasons I’ve been able to complete. It gives me the opportunity to run debug diagnostics in VS but after letting it debug for 35 mins last night nothing came back.
  10. Hi Guys, I am trying to locate the weaker foot of players who are described as having a "Very Good" left foot and also a "Very Good" right foot. In the past I use to believe if a player had Very Good on both his left and right foot, it meant he had a 20 rating for left and his right foot. I have recently found out this is not true. The only way I know how to check this is to use the in game editor, but I don't have the in game editor enabled on all of my save games, so I am not sure how to find this out in the ones without the editor. For example if you look at Neymar he has a Very Good right & left foot. So I assumed he had 20 20 on both feet until when I recently checked him it said 20 right foot and 15 left foot (Don't quote me on that but I'm sure it it didn't say 20 20). So now that I know this, my question is: In a game where you do not have the in game editor, how to you find out which is the players weaker foot when the game describes both as Very Good.
  11. Hi, I have been playing fm 18, and im currently in the year 2020. However, I recently began to have problems with the game suddenly crashing at certain points. It was random at first, but I have now reached a point where I cannot progress after 31st August 2020 without it crashing. I play on a MAC, and I had used editor data within the game, but it had been fine until this point. Is there any way that I could be helped with this? Any help would be appreciated as I have put quite a bit of time into the game and I dont want to start again haha. Ps. I have also cleared the cache and followed some other solutions and still the same thing.
  12. Hey all, 1. Story Having watched, as a Turkish fan of Fenerbahçe, the misery of Beşiktaş against Bayern München with one man down getting tarnished, I instantly fell in love with attacking mentality of Bayern München there. Whenever somebody would arrive at byline, at least 5 options would call out for the ball in the box, effectively rendering any kind of defence useless - 5-0 was a score quite fortunate for Beşiktaş that terrible night, if you ask me. Therefore, hating 4-3-3 plague's guts that took over the football scene for more than a decade now, I wondered if I could emulate Bayern's offensive capabilities to some extent and came up with the tactic of the following layout (I am in no way any belief that I could emulate Bayern, they just inspired me that night): It is an offensive tactic that scores for fun enabling me to scoop the Eredivisie title with the humble squad of my all-time favorites, Vitesse, 3 games to be played before the end of the season. It would actually be decided with 4 matches left however I acted stupid enough to create pressure on them the rookie squad that crumbled under and got defeated 3-2 to relegation zone contenders. Anyway, crowning was delayed for only one match. 2. Strengths The tactic relies on high tempo with very few meters among blocks, recycling possession as quicker as it can in its default shape and executing direct passes, breaking up any defense so far (scored 6 away from home at Anfield, conceding 8 in the process too). I made some tweaks here and there to conclude on the roles and duties as well as player-specific instructions and am very eager to know how 4-4-2 Atta, Turk! would work out for you guys. For a quick reference, below are the Team Instructions: The tactic possesses ability to score because (1) your wide midfielders can make through balls or receive FB crosses to score (2) any one of your Strikers can drag and stretch the defence to create a chance for his partner (3) a foxy defender can mortar a direct or a diagonal ball for your pacey DLF or, if close enough, his more static AF partner. 3. Weaknesses The very same blade the tactic wields. 2 strikers. Since the defensive line is high up the pitch and players love to spread around the field although it is a Normal width I am using, I have happened to see that when your opponent uses a 2-Strikers formation, consider keeping your defenders a bit deeper and taking down the width down a notch so that FB's can act as bolstering forces against marauding attackers as you try to fend them off. But remember that those two tweaks add to your creative abilities so try to keep a balance by changing it back and forth during the game i.e. if opponent is not overwhelming you (yet), keep default instructions until you score a few and then act accordingly etc. This part of the tactic still might need contributions though - I would love to hear your "hey, popsicle, I did this and it gave me 34 clean sheets a season" kind of modifications. 4. Choice of Players First and foremost, your Center Backs should be athletes. If you have to choose between two CBs one of which is a slower guy with better attributes and a swift one with less desirable ones, go for the latter. This tactic does not claim to be the stalwart bus of Mourinho. I would suggest Wide Midfielders possessing enough Vision to spot out the right choice between a Striker moving into a channel or an overlapping Full Back. They do not necessarily have to be explosive guys though. Keep a pair of hardworking Central Midfielders that can tackle. If they know how to move into channels and kick the ball with some technique, even better. I am a huge fan of Alejandro Chumacero in that regard. Make sure your DLF is pacey and has enough balance since he will be receiving balls comparably deeper and will need to rush it forward. If you have a Jardel or a Ruud Van Nistelrooy, like Tim Matavz I have, that you love watching him score loads, he is your primal choice of the Advanced Forward. Although I have used Saber Khalifa who is very quick, in matches where I saw that Matavz was wasting too many fastbreak opportunities due to his sluggish build. 5. Opposition Instructions, Tactical Briefing and Other Crabs I am not a fan of OIs although I am not convinced that my stance is a rightful one. Since I want my Assistant Manager to take over tactical briefing, tactic may end up with OIs anyway. Watch and tinker. If you somehow fall short in a game, you can always gung-ho your squad to claw back. The tactic has a huge hunger for risk so Overload does not turn things upside down for you, if it doesn't work. 6. Training Overload Tactics team and match training pre-season and keep at it until your guys can play your mindset blindfolded. Then switch to Defensive Positioning for Match Training and Team Cohesion for Team Training to reap unity awards. Remember, the tactic is a very fluid one and it acts like an amoeba slushing its innards as necessary to move around rather than three or more blocks of specialized platoons going back and forth. I also would advise on getting Full Backs who like getting forward whenever possible. 7. Download Grabby grabby. Please give this a shot and tell me how it pans out with your team. Sorry for any obscurity or inaccuracy with the messages I tried to deliver. Thank you. "Peace at home, peace in the world"

  15. I recently bought FM18 and the folder for it, which is in supposed to be in /documents/sports interactive/ FM 18/ is not there. I have played the game and did a few months into a save, yet, it isn't there. Any thoughts on the issue?
  16. Game keeps crashing on the same date on my save. It happens while simulating. it always crashes at the same date. I have uploaded my save file to ftp-public@ftp.sipgames.com. the save file name is liverpool.3.fm i dont have any face packs or logo packs installed. i have not had any crashes before, it started 15.12.2017
  17. I'm a big fan of Football Manager, I started playing at FM2014 and have owned all PC and Mobile versions since. I'm just gonna be giving my suggestions for PC only. 1) An improved engine - I feel that a new or improved version of the current engine is needed for better graphic fidelity and smoother / more natural looking animations. Don't get me wrong, animations were an improvement here, but graphics weren't so much of an improvement. 2) More types of tweets - I tend to see a lot of the same tweets, word for word, on the social media feed. I think there needs to be A LOT more variation just so it doesn't get old so quick. 3) More social media - I think the inclusion of the twitter style feed was super cool and would like to see another one maybe in similar fashion to instagram. Here is an example for how his could work: Manchester United sign a player like Kasper Dolberg. Too announce the signing a picture is posted of him holding or wearing the Man United kit and there's a little caption and hashtag or two. Then the player would also post something like this, as well as the league, and maybe fans too. 4) More User Friendly UI - I don't have many problems with the current way it is but I would like to see a redesigned UI that just flows better and is simpler to use. The current UI can be difficult to figure out for new players even with the hint system. 5) Licensing - I know it is expensive, but I need more than Everton and Watford licensed when I drop 60 USD on the game. 6) Better training system - Maybe something kinda like Fifa introduced in Fifa 16 except instead of 5 players, you can do the whole team. An example: You can watch the training, it would take 2-5 minutes. All players do the training they are set to do as well as a generalized team training. After it is done, you can view a training report and see which players had a good session, bad session, got hurt, improved, or worsened, etc. If you don't want to watch the training, a simulate button or automatic button or something should be there. 7) Better youth system - Growing youth players can be super super difficult. I'm not sure exactly what needs to be done to improve this but I do feel it could use a change. This is all I could think of for now. If you've got any ideas, post them.
  18. Replacement transfer targets: For example you could set someone as a ''Replacement Transfer Target'' for a specific player already in your squad. If that player leaves your team, the player you chose as replacement will automatically become a Transfer Target.
  19. Hello fellas, I'm Roy, new owner at FM Blog. I don't know if I'm allowed to post a link to my site or not on here, so if it is against the rules I apologise and mods do make the necessary changes. Anyways, I would like to share with you my FM18 Wonderkids list. I've compiled more than 800 potential potential world-class players and good first team players. To make it on the list, players need to have Potential Ability of at least 150, and can't be older than 20 years of age at the start of the game. Some of the already have the wonderkid status whilst others will obtain the same as the game progresses. You can also see the asking price of their current parent club at which they are willing to sell the player. Here is the biggest Football Manager 2018 Wonderkids shortlist. Any feedback much appreciated. Roy
  20. Hi guys, just a quick question. In previous versions of FM I could start a season and the real life league fixture list would be in my game. I have tried starting a game on this FM with Manchester United, but their league fixtures are not the same as in real life. I did not tick the box "Do not use real fixtures" in the settings page. Has this feature been removed? Or am I doing something wrong?
  21. Normally I see these types of players in teams of nations not loaded into my game. However sometimes I see then in my youth teams when I do not have enough youth players in the squad. I don't mind that much when I see these types of players in my youth squad because at least they are players who can be offered contracts. But sometimes I see these players in other teams and they are not buyable for me. I can't offer them a contract, offer the team money for him, offer to take him on loan, scout him. I feel like the only thing I can do is look at him and that is it. Below is a picture of a database player I recently came across. https://i.imgur.com/ycsRVwJ.jpg Only just made the game it is still July 2017 and I don't have England added as a nation. Now I see this database player playing in Tottenham. Another thing I hate about Database players is that they can even represent their national team. And I think to myself imagine if one of these Database players scored a winning goal in the World Cup. I would most probably just re load the game as I would be annoyed that a fake player in my eyes is creating history in my game. I would much rather just see a real player or Regen make history. I don't mind seeing regens in the game as they can be bought or loaned by teams. However these types of database players almost appear as ghosts. In the past years of me playing FM I have tried everything I can think of to start a game with none of these database players. I tried both ticking and unticking the box that says something like "fill teams with personnel that may not have enough at start of game". I also tried including every single nation in the game as playable and still I saw Database players. I only want 2 types of players. Real players and Regen players. Sorry about the rant but this has annoyed me for years since I started playing football manager. So if any of you know, Is it possible for me to start a game without any Database players?
  22. Can i play saved games in football manager 2018 and load it in football manager touch 2018 for ios? Thanks
  23. Been having an issue on my FM18 save. When I click on teams that I assume are in my database the game freezes and I have to close the game to get it to work. I've looked on the bug forum and can't find anything relating to this. Any suggestions on what it could be or how to solve it? The team are usually lower league teams or teams with a low reputation. For instance any teams below the Vanarama National League North or South.
