  1. I first played with Athletic Bilbao (Los Leones) in FM11 and then again in FM15 so I wanted to return to managing a club I am very fond of. I managed to win trophies in FM11 but not the league but in FM15 I landed the league title after a few seasons in charge which I still hold as one of my greatest achievements in FM as I had to beat a Real Madrid team (managed by Brendan Rogers!) who were at the peak of their powers with Ronaldo and hammering teams most weeks. I won my first 10 games of the season and so did they; there was barely any room for error but in the 2nd half of the season I managed to open a small gap which I was able to hold on to (including an incredibly nervy draw against Real). I also wanted to try for the first time to post regular updates about my progress so I hope you will follow and I hope others will want to try Athletic Bilbao and get some tips from my progress. If you don't already know, Athletic Bilbao have an almost unique transfer policy of only selecting Basque players; the Basque region is a relatively small region in the north of Spain and over the border into France with a population just over 2m people. Athletic relaxed their policy to also include players who have had their footballing education in the Basque region hence the increase of non-Spanish nationalities playing for Athletic in the last 15-20 years. This means in FM you can buy Spanish 16 year olds and they will become Basque, gaining their homegrown status at Bilbao. Other notable Basque clubs include fierce rivals Real Sociedad from San Sebastian, Osasuna from Pamplona, Alaves from Vitoria-Gasteiz; Eibar and then a number of smaller clubs many of which are affiliated to Athletic such as Barakaldo, Cultural Durango, Portugalete and Sestao River. The only other notable town is Irun who play home to Real Union. The only French Basque club of note is Aviron Bayonnais who are famed for producing Didier Deschamps (the stadium is named after him) and more recently Aymeric Laporte who Athletic sold to Man City for £50m. They unfortunately play in the French Championnat National 3, a league not playable in FM (I would love to do a save where I made Aviron Bayonnais a big club in France to increase the quality of the pool of Basque players before moving on to Athletic). Taking on Athletic in FM basically means you will be trusting in youth and the good thing is that the facilities and youth recruitment are exceptional. The sale of players in recent seasons such as Kepa to Chelsea and the aforementioned Laporte to Man City have meant that Athletic have a more than healthy financial situation as they can rarely go and spend big to replace (although they did manage to land Inigo Martinez for a big fee from Real Sociedad to replace Laporte). Unfortunately, you will have to brace yourself every time the transfer window opens and big clubs come knocking for your best players. There are a number of notable and some World Class Basque footballers to keep an eye on playing in other countries as well as in Spain. I already mentioned Laporte (DC) and Kepa (GK) who play in the PL but there is also Ander Herrera (MC), Cesar Azpilicueta (DRC), Nacho Monreal (DL) and Fernando Llorente (CF). Ex Bilbao player Javi Martinez (DC/DM) at Bayern and Antoine Griezmann who is playing at Atletico and Odriozola (DR) at Real. Mikel Merino and Mikel Oyarzabal at rivals Real Sociedad also present excellent transfer targets. There is also Uruguayan Giorgian De Arrascaeta playing at Cruzeiro. (Recognising Basque names will probably become a skill e.g. Mikel is typically Basque; Xabi (as in Alonso) instead of Xavi and then also a lot of Ks, Zs and TXs). Right then, I am of course playing FM2019 and this is only my 2nd save as I don't get as much chance to play as I used to (so I have no idea how I'm finding the time to write about it). In real life, this season has been a struggle for Athletic, flirting with relegation before pulling up to mid-table since sacking their manager so I am expecting a tough ride with the loss of star keeper, Kepa and an ageing striker in Aritz Aduriz who, at 37, is defying the ravages of time. Goals are therefore hard to come by but they do have some very capable attacking players such as Iker Munain, Inaki Williams, Raul Garcia and Markel Susaeta. I settled on my squad of 25 as follows and will predominantly play 4231 and 433 (with DM), I should also note that when playing FM, I always disable the first transfer window as I like the game to start as in real life: Goalkeepers: Herrerin, Simon and Remiro Right backs: Lekue, Capa, De Marcos Left backs: Yuri, Balenziaga, Ganea Centre backs: Martinez, Yeray, Nunez and San Jose Midfielders: Iturraspe, Dani Garcia, Rico, Benat Attacking Midfielders: Raul Garcia, Unai Lopez Left Wingers: Muniain and Cordoba Right Wingers: Williams and Susaeta Strikers: Aduriz and Villalibre My first thoughts of the squad are that it is a little imbalanced with 3 left backs although Yuri and Ganea are versatile as is De Marcos at RB who can play pretty much anywhere in midfield and I will use him there when needed. San Jose and Iturraspe represent good options at DM and Raul Garcia and Williams will provide alternatives at Centre Forward. Herrerin is the senior keeper but begins injured so I will go with Remiro and give chances to Unai Simon who has big potential. Unai Nunez also has significant potential at CB so I will give him chances but Martinez and Yeray will most likely be my first choice CB partnership with Mikel San Jose offering competition. Rico is getting on and will be a back-up and Dani Garcia is decent (and I do love a box to box midfielder) but with determination of 6, he is a concern. Benat in midfield is a must for his creativity and he will most likely be partnered with Iturraspe. Raul Garcia will be first choice at AMC but Unai Lopez will be given chances (he was a star for me in FM15 but he hasn't developed to be quite as good but still offers a good option here). Muniain is a shoe-in at LW with Cordoba as back up with good potential. Susaeta and Williams will fight it our for RW but I suspect Williams will be my first choice, although there will be other options including Williams up top or at LW with the option to play Muniain at AMC. Aduriz will be a target man up top and I will try to give Villalibre chances who pipped Guruzeta into my squad. I believe in the last couple of versions, Villalibre was a wonderkid but I guess he hasn't developed as much as expected but still represents a good option with good potential.
  2. After finally getting into this year's game, I have decided to have a go at managing in the lower leagues. I will take over at my local club Ashton United. I am currently in my 5th season at the club. After finishing in 6th, 7th, 10th and 12th in recent years, we currently find ourselves in the playoff places. I hope to make it third time lucky and win promotion this season via the playoffs. It will be up to my Director of Football to sign first team players and renew their contracts.
  3. Hey all! I bet you are ALL planning your saves for the next year. This year I am going to try doing a two-manager save. I want to manage 2 bottom league clubs from different countries, grow them to Champions League top dogs, and have the two clubs to interact. The two teams will hopefully be Bragança from Portugal, and Hereford from England. In FM 2017 and FM 2018 I won the Champions League and World Club Championship several times with Bragança. in FM 2019 I did the same with Hereford. Can I do it with both in the same save? And what about when they are both competing in the same final? Either way, I win! If you are interested to know, I never used the Editor or Mods of any sort. Just plain vanilla and following the game as it is. If you want to have a look at the saves I still have them and would be happy to upload them for any FM17 / 18 / 19 players out there to enjoy. Let me know if you'd like to hear about how the two-manager goes, and I'll make a thread for it What are your save ideas?
  4. Football Manager 2016-2018 - How to Locate or Move your User Data Location I've made a slight change to the guide this year to make it easier to update in the future, the content in it now applies to each version since Football Manger 2016 you just need to change the year for the version you are using in the instructions and follow any specific instructions for that version. Since Football Manager 2016 your User Data Location is no longer listed or editable from within the game. And since Football Manager 2017 the Touch Mode is a separate entry in your Steam Game Library so the instructions are slightly different depending on which mode of Football Manager you are using since FM2017. Thankfully Football Manager 2018 hasn't made any changes to this, so these instructions are the same as last years with just the game year changing. This guide is split into two parts; 1. How to Locate Your User Data Location - If you only want to add custom content to your game or want access to your save game this is the guide you want. Football Manager 2016-18 - How to Locate your Default User Data Location Football Manager Touch 2017-18 - How to Locate Your Default User Data Location 2. How to Change Your User Data Location - If you want to move your user data location to a different part of your computer then you need to read this part of the guide as well. Football Manager 2016-18 - How to Change your User Data Location Football Manager Touch 2017-18 - How to Change your User Data Location
  5. Hi I cannot start a new game in England, that is i can only choose from teams in league two and below. It doesn't matter if I start in quick setup or advanced setup, i simply get the error "Man Utd cannot be selected. Please select another team.". I also don't have an option to apply for the Man Utd job when start unemployed. Nor can i select any Premier league team in the unemployed option when i try the add manager option. I've chosen England, Italy, Spain, German, Portugal, Argentina and Brazil as playable. I have tried to uninstall/reinstall from Steam and Control Panel, both didn't resolve the issue of not being able to select Man Utd. I have also ensured "all" has been selected under manageable teams. Any thing else i should be looking at? Thanks Lyzerge (aka Jide)
  6. So I have an update for portuguese lower leagues. I only have 2 bugs that i am not able to solve. The first one is how do I put odd teams in the same group (for example there is a division where are 11 teams in one group and 9 on another)? The second i am guessing that is more complicated. There is no title champion registered on manager history, how can i solve that? (just to clarified, the competition regists the champions team correctly) I leave my updated, you can check the bugs, this 2 bugs you can see on 2 divisao de santarem thanks for the help _FMPT Distritais V4.12_.fmf
  7. Hello everyone, I'd need to know if it's possible to play FM2019 Mobile in Versus Mode, or if it can be possible in one of the next versions of the game. Thank you everybody, and enjoy FM!
  8. Re-vamping the whole Welsh football league system but when testing new rules the database is pulling through the teams twice? "Require maximum of 16 teams for Welsh Premiership, found 32" I've had a nose around and can't work out whats been ticked/un-ticked thats causing this. Any and all advice welcome. 9. I'm relatively new to Football Manager and have (for now) set all training to be handled by my Assistant Manager. So..I bought a player who is excellent at the Complete Forward Role (Bright Green), I only use this role in my tactic. Anyway 2 months later he's now yellow for this role, I look closer only to discover he's being trained for the Deep Lying Forward Role, a closer look at all my players reveals all are being trained for different roles. Can anyone explain this, is it normal? My tactic is set to Primary Trained Tactic. I just wish there was a way to set individual roles in training without my assistant manager handing over the reigns to all training.....
  10. WHY PLYMOUTH?? Plymouth Argyle are my local team as I am from near by Cornwall. It was the first team I went to a stadium to see, I was a season ticket holder for a couple of years when they were in The Championship which seems an age ago now though! The club has had a tough time of it since then suffering relegation's, financial issues etc but has stabilised the last couple of years and won Promotion back to League 1 in 2017 and made a late dash from nowhere for last season's Play-Off's but just missed out. I hope to get Plymouth back to The Championship asap, the funds are tight compared to most of League 1 but the club does finally have a stable bank balance so long term finances shouldn't be too bad, Want to also try and keep as much as the real life squad around for the first 6 months/season if possible and build from there.
  11. Hi there, I'm currently using NEUB skin and as you can see below , it is very hard to read the words for my press conferences due to a combination of a light background and light inbox. Appreciate if someone can help to fix this!
  12. Hi, I would like to buy FM2019, so I would like to know if my mac meets requirements. macOS Sierra MacBook Air (Early 2014) Processor - 1.4GHz Intel Core i5 (Turbo Boost up to 2.7GHz) Memory - 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Graphics - Intel HD Graphics 5000 Thanks in advance, Kimi
  13. I'd like to start by thanking Graaa, the mad genius behind this custom USA database from FM15. This edit includes a lot of his work on the Extended Club World Cup that was part of that file alongside the changes I made, and I'm only posting it because he's posted that he's not continuing that mod or updating it for FM16 (welp, now FM18) but left its details as fair use for others, and I thought the idea was too awesome to let it vanish - as someone who plays a lot in the Americas I really liked the option of being able to take my team onto a bigger stage than the CONCACAF Champions League could provide. But enough biography. This database edit replaces all club continental competitions and the Club World Cup with three worldwide club tournaments: the FIFA Champions League, World League, and Youth League. All domestic leagues are left untouched and will run alongside the intercontinental tournaments: fancy midweek trips to Argentina to play Boca between your league matches? I BET YOU DO. The FIFA Champions League and World League are senior-level tournaments that mostly work how you expect: Champions League has better competition and better payouts (though the difference between the two isn't as derisory as in real life), finish high enough in your domestic league or win your major domestic cup and you get a ticket (if your league of choice doesn't use a single table or has some other continental qualification shenanigans, it SHOULD work properly depending on how SI or your database modder of choice coded that specific league, but I can't be certain. There are qualifiers, and a group stage, and a knockout stage, and Big Fancy Neutral Site Finals. There is also a FIFA Youth League that uses a similar format and replaces the Viareggio Tournament or whatever it is called for people that aren't using the Susie Real Name fixes, that pits elite U18 teams against each other - I couldn't get the editor to choose exactly the teams that qualified for the CL, the way the UEFA Youth League does, but the idea is the same. Downloads: A beta version of this mod that MOSTLY works in the FM19 beta (the FIFA Youth League does not work but everything else appears to) is available as an attachment to this post. Since it was created using the FM18 editor, it will also work in FM18, and includes some experimental bugfixes and changes I've made since the last release of the FM18 version. Details in this post. The FM18 version of the mod is available on the Steam Workshop, and also as an attachment to this post. The FM17 version of the mod is available on the Steam Workshop and also as an attachment to this post, but will most likely no longer be updated. The FM16 version of the mod is also on the Steam Workshop, but will most likely no longer be updated. If you need more details, they're below. Let me know if there are any bugs or if you have any suggestions, and otherwise have fun! Qualifiers: The number of spots is fixed, unfortunately (even the advanced editor won't let me do otherwise), and laid out as follows in the FM18 version: 1 automatic CL group stage spot, 3 spots for the 4th qualifying round, 2 spots and the domestic cup winner for the 3rd qualifying round: Spain, England, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Portugal, France, Argentina, Russia 1 automatic CL group stage spot, 2 spots for the 4th qualifying round, 2 spots and the domestic cup winner for the 3rd qualifying round: Mexico, Netherlands, Uruguay, Belgium, Colombia, Chile, Croatia, USA, Switzerland, Ecuador, Poland, Czech Republic, Ivory Coast, Austria, Turkey, South Korea, Japan, Sweden, Ukraine, Denmark, Romania, Wales, Australia 1 spot for the 4th qualifying round, 2 spots and the domestic cup winner for the 2nd qualifying round: Bosnia, Paraguay, Algeria, Ghana, Scotland, Greece, Tunisia, Slovakia, Cameroon, Egypt, Ireland, Norway, Serbia, Iceland, Iran, Nigeria, Venezuela, Slovenia, Northern Ireland, Peru, Albania, South Africa, Israel 2 spots and the domestic cup winner for the 2nd qualifying round: Finland, Bulgaria, Bolivia, Zambia, Morocco, Cyprus, Hungary, Armenia, Estonia 2 spots in the 1st qualifying round: Senegal, Montenegro, Burkina Faso, Honduras, Mali, Lithuania, Angola, Costa Rica, Macedonia, Latvia, Georgia, DR Congo, Congo, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Belarus, Iraq, Togo, Cape Verde, Jamaica, Guinea, Bahrain, New Zealand, Trinidad and Tobago, China, Sudan, El Salvador, Uzbekistan, Oman, Moldova, North Korea, Kuwait, Benin, Guatemala, Uganda, Canada, Syria, Faroe Islands, Mozambique, Equatorial Guinea, Jordan, Cuba, Malta, Lebanon, UAE, Panama, India 1 spot in the 1st qualifying round: All other FIFA members (in other words: all other countries in the DB except defunct, disputed, or the following: Bonaire, Martinique, Reunion, St. Pierre and Miquelon, Zanzibar, Micronesia, Kiribati, French Guiana, Sint Maarten, Mayotte, Northern Mariana Islands, Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, Wallis and Futuna Islands, Tuvalu). Note: The FM17 version has the same qualifiers. FM16 is missing Gibraltar and Kosovo. There are no automatic group stage qualifiers in the FM16 version, and the qualifying rounds are structured slightly differently. Details are on the FM16 version's workshop page. Format Details: The Champions League has four qualifying rounds, with two-legged fixtures starting in July. All CL qualifiers are seeded into these rounds depending on how high they finished and which league they qualified from or won the domestic cup in, as above. The 96 winners in the 4th qualifying round (August) go to the CL group stage along with the 32 automatic qualifiers, the losers go to the WL group stage. Each group stage features groups of 4 (so six games each). CL plays on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, WL on Thursdays, from September through December. CL: 32 groups of 4, the top 2 in each group qualify for the knockout rounds starting in February. WL: The 24 group winners and the 8 best second-place finishers qualify for the knockout rounds starting in February, along with the 32 third-place finishers from the CL. Everything goes as you'd expect from there. Note: in the FM17 version, the CL group winners qualify for the knockout rounds and the second-place finisher falls into the WL. in the FM16 version, the qualifying rounds start in June instead of July, both competitions use 24 groups of 4, qualify the group winners directly to the knockouts, and put the 24 second-place finishers and top 8 third-place finishers into 2 playoff rounds consisting of single neutral-site games in December - the eight teams that get through that join the group winners in the knockouts. Prize Money (all amounts in Euros) CL Qualifying Phase: 1st round: 75k 2nd round: 150k 3rd round: 250k 4th round: 400k CL Group Stage (WL pays about half this amount) 20M for all Group Stage participants, 1.5M per victory, 750k per draw CL Knockout Rounds (WL pays about half this amount): 7M for all knockout round participants, + 4M for reaching second knockout round + 6M for reaching QF + 10M for reaching SF + 20M for winning final or 15M for losing final Known Issues The various continental awards disappear because there are no longer any active competitions attached to those continents. I don't think this is something I can change but I would be happy to be proven wrong. The world player awards function as normal (Lionel Messi still wins them for ten years straight.) (FM17 version only) Having the Belgian, Bulgarian or Danish league active appears to cause a crash when they try to schedule their European Place Playoffs. I'm still trying to figure out how to address this. Oddly enough, the Dutch European Place Playoffs work just fine (except that they seem to assign the wrong teams to the wrong seeds, ugh). 14. I usually use other people's tactics but after seeing my own might Ipswich Town rip into Reading a couple of weeks ago I was inspired to recreate that style of play in FM2019. First of all, this is very high energy, you will need players with high team work, work rate and fitness at FB, midfield and up front. The aim is to press the opposition into mistakes and create chances. I was using another tactic from here (unstoppable attacking) and another from Sigames (Quantum) which were pretty successful, but since I switched to my new tactic for the West Brom match I've been blowing teams away! Ipswich are predicted to finish 20th and have the 6th lowest budget in the division. It's okay to tweak player roles to suit your squad but keep the nature of the players role the same e.g. a deep lying playmaker set on defend can take on the role of the centre midfielder on defend. I would leave the pressing forwards alone though as their instructions and role are key to winning the ball high into enemy territory. Finally, be prepared to rotate, especially your fullbacks who cover acres of distance! Team talks I always encourage unless we're losing at half time. I never use opposition instructions. All the best, hope it helps some of you. 4-3-3 Blitzkreig.fmf
  15. I have 2 pcs one desktop and one laptop, both have the most up-to-date drivers and windows 10 updates. And i can save to steam cloud but i can't load the game on the other pc. I've tried to delete de game and save it again. but it doesn't work. Can you help me guys please? Thanks
  16. Someone can help me change check and ball icon to white ?
  17. Hi, Beasides majority people think this is a worst editor, I think the opposite. In this Editor already did various things that can't be done in FM2019, like youth leagues and simpler relegation between national competitions and regional. Still I have some problems to solve, dont know if it because editor or my lack of skills. The first problem is the same in two different divisions. In Portugal there is regional leagues, like all others countries, no region have connect to other, so the relagation and promotion is betwen divisions from same region. Divisiao de Honra de Viseu (Viseu Honor Division) is the Firts Division from Viseu region. There is 3 relegations, no problem. 1ª Divisão de Viseu (Viseu 1 Division) is the Second Division from Viseu region. In here sould be 3 promotions but editor doesn't recognize the third promotion. This division is divided in 2 groups, winner of wich is promoted without any problems and play each other for the title from this division. Second classified from each group plays a playoff to fight for third promotion and here is the problem. The same happen in Leiria region, between Divisao de Honra de Leiria (Leiria Honor Division) and 1ª Divisao de Leiria (Leiria First Division). The second problem is the same in three different competitions. In Portugal there is also regional cups, some are simple elimination rounds, other have stage groups and then elimination rounds. Castelo Branco Cup, Ribatejo Cup and Portalegre Cup are the problem. Castelo Branco Cup is 2 groups to get the best two teams to elimination round. Ribatejo Cup is 8 groups also to get the best two teams from each group to the eighths Portalegre Cup is a league to qualify the best 4 teams to elimination round. The problem is that theses competitions never start. I have another regional cup with group stages (Setubal Cup) and guess what? You guess right, works with no problems. As you can see all other competition works. The file that is sent to someone try to help have the problems, if you want to try only the cup problem i can sent other file without the relegation problem, an alternative division with only two promotions between Leiria and Viseu divisions. Thanks for all the help. ps. the file takes a bit to unload. FMPT Distritais V0.38.fmf
  18. Summary: the graphical attributes of the players are very small, and the goalkeepers' are even impossible to see! Description of Issue: I play FM for a long time and I am used to evaluate the players through the graphical attributes since the beggining. However this has been impossible in FM2019 because I can barely see the graphs and in the goalkeepers interface is even impossible. I have some add-ons like faces and logos but this is not the problem because it already happened before I add these and also in the demo version. I have already unninstalled and re-installed the game, I have verified the files integrity and nothing changed. I really need your help because this is really important for me to play FM. Files Uploaded: I have attached two example photos of what I described. As you can see the player graphical attributes are small but the goalkeepers' are even smaller.
  19. Hello, I have the following problem: I use a customized database from the FM2016 edition. It is currently stored in the "editor data" folder of FM2018. I tried to load it with the FM2019 editor once I copied it into the "edit data" folder of this edition... and the file can not be found. How can i fix it? Programs like "Football Manager Resource Archive" do recognize it. The file is also available in the FM2018 editor. The FM2019 editor opens the folder, but it is empty. Thanks for the help
  20. I'm playing an online career with a couple of friends and the owner of the game can't play for the next weeks, so we would like to transfer the save file to one of the other accounts. Anyone has any idea how it can be done? Thank you

  22. Hi I make this kit for my save but away kit does not appear in the game and i dont understand why
  23. Welcome to the new and improved Football Manager Skins and Graphics Installation Guide. This guide will show you how to install the most common types of graphics (faces, logos, kits) and skins correctly into Football Manager. I've tweaked the format this year to try and make it as simple as possible. First note that these instructions only apply to the Steam version of the game (whether it's a boxed copy, a CD-Key or purchased through Steam) and the instructions are generally the same regardless of your OS or whether it is the Full Mode or Touch Version you are playing and any differences will be noted in the instructions. Please note you are advised as always to run a virus scan on any file downloaded from the internet. Sports Interactive or SEGA have no control over third party content and as such third party downloads are used at your own risk. It is also advisable to read any instructions on the download page for the content you are installing (or found in the readme that comes with the download) as they may contain any extra instructions that are specific to that file. This is especially important for multi-part mega-packs that may need to be extracted in a certain order. Next follow one of the following links depending on what you are trying to add to the game: How To Install Graphics (this includes kits, faces, logos and trophies). How To Install Skins. How To Install Other Stuff. How To Transfer Files from a Previous Version. How To Add Graphics you have created.
