  1. I would like you to post new ideas about FM. I think that our ideas can help SI and SEGA to make FM even better.
  2. Now i know that Fm09 does not exist, but assusing that it will which leagues or division would you like them to include in the game. My List as Follows Wales Second Division Argentina Third Division Latvia Faroe Islands or San Marino Ghana Cameroon Canada Nigeria Perhaps the English Lower levels but they could be view only as well as the highland League What do you think
  3. I'm presenting this as a question/remark. Some attributes shouldn't be influenced by a player's current ability, because they don't require the player to be top class to be able to have those attributes high. More precisely, I'm talking about physical attributes. Most people know Fábio Paim, a never-to-become portuguese football star, who was (and still is) a right winger. He was notable for his pace and technique. Nowadays, he is "dead", playing in the portuguese fourth level at Torreense, and his CA is adequate for a level 4 player. But why does that have to mean that his pace can't be more than 11? A portuguese data researcher said that in the editor he has 14 for pace, but due to his low CA, the game automatically decreases it to 11. With this, I'm not saying that Paim should have 14. He's fat and out of form, but this was an illustrative example. Now, Usain Bolt said that we would like to try pro football. If he did try, and if he was really bad, then what, he had a low CA so his acceleration and pace had to decrase to values like 12??? I think that this can be applied to most physical attributes, like pace, acceleration, strength, jumping, stamina and natural fitness. I'm saying this because I think that this auto-adjusting made by the editor may affect some players in the lower leagues, and maybe they are even very accurate in the editor, but then that gets lost in the game.
  4. In my career game I have noticed that Tottenham are about to move into the originally named "Tottenham Stadium", Chelsea into "Zola Park". Both I think unlikely. Not many new stadiums are named after players or clubs. Perhaps we could have a new field in the database of areas/districts in cities. Take the case of my team Southampton. We moved from The Dell back to our roots in the St Marys area of the city. So perhaps within the database each club could have districts/areas of the city they are in listed for potential stadium names. For example City = Southampton Districts = St Marys, Bitterne Park, Weston, Northam, Millbrook, Woolston, St Denys, Bevois Valley, Portswood, Shirley, Lordshill, Sholing, Harefield, Freemantle, Swaythling, Bassett, Coxford Then for any new future stadium for Southampton you mights get a name using these sub areas. I'd be far happier with the game naming a new stadium with these district names than having a Le Tissier Park stadium. Obviously for towns/cities with more than one team you have to choose suitable district for each club, i.e. spilt Manchester/Liverpool/London/Birmingham into main areas for each club. It would be like the club relocated to a different area of the city and would be a nice touch I think
  5. Now there is a large proportion of people who enjoy the wham, bam, thankyou maam approach to playing FM. They want to jump in quickly have some fun, play a couple of season with their favourite team and be done. Also, as we know, there is a large section of the community who enjoy long career games. Whether it's with one club or spanning a host of different clubs and international positions. I feel very strongly that there is not enough emphasis on these sort of career games. There is very little in terms of tracking your career, rewarding your successes and penalising the failures. Each season with the same club, each new job with the same manager, carries over such little relevance to what you've played already that it's like starting a new game each time, I really think there's a huge scope for development in this area that would make me (and I'm sure many other) very happy. The best we have at the moment is what is available in the Manager Overview section, which really is just a log of certain events, most of which have little to no baring to anything that happens in game. A few idea that I feel would help: 1. Favoured Personnel I really think this great idea needs to be implemented correctly. At the moment it seems very half-done and is basically the biggest indictation that we have had a successful saved game. It's not a complicated request, but if I've taken Witton Albion to 40 years of Premiership trophies, I expect to be a legend, even after I've left the club. I also expect to be on a lot of players and staffs favourite personnel list. Expanding the idea even further would be the opportunity to comment on your previous clubs affairs in the same way that current legends comment on your transfers/big games. 2. Expansion of relationship with other Managers Feels you two could be friends/Has a fairly poor opinion of you just doesn't cut the mustard as far as immersion goes. There should be rivalries (possibly leading to new club rivalries as a result), proper friendships, more mind-games, more taunting, more rants, more praise, more respect. It's all part of the media circus that the nation knows and loves about the modern game, and it really should be included. 3. A simple "Achievements" screen Achievements that show what you did and who you did it with (i.e. "Won 3 Champions Cups with Manchester City") and those achievements are referred too in other sections of the game. There is currently some limited parts of this, again it's something that I think could be expanded quite a bit. Press conferences before a final with the media asking "Are you looking forward to winning the 4th Champions cup of your career?" etc. 4. A career confidence bar Expanded on in another thread, but as well as the current confidence bars that reset each season, have a set that relate to your career as a whole with your current club. Players, competitions, successes and failures. 5. Manager stats/attributes I'm my own manager, how I play the game is totally different to my mates and there should be some attributes and stats that relate to that. The ones that exist currently again seem half-implemented and don't seem to work correctly (e.g. preferred marking style ont he personal screen). I would love to see a set of number than breaks down what I'm like as a manager, I'd like number to say that I'm a wheeler and dealer in the transfer market, I please the media and I'm quite angry in the dressing room. I also want it to show what my current favourite formation is as well as playing style. I think it would be fantastic if these attributes and stats related to other game content too. Media/Other Manager comments about me and my personality and my preferred playing style. This is in already in a very limited fashion and could be expanded on. 6. The Manager dot! I want to show on the sidelines during games and my players run over and hug me when they score if they like me! Number 1 is a must have for me, I need some sense of recorded achievement to really make me feel like I'm enjoying the game. I don't think many of the above would require too much effort vs the reward they would give to the players in terms of immersion and sense of achievement.
  6. Is there any talk of SI introducing legacy statistics into the game - those being the statistics and probably a visible player profile for players long-since retired? I'm sure I'm not alone in enjoying 20+ year games when many of our favourite players have retired and we've no record of their careers besides an entry in the club's record books. I sometimes miss players' retirements having not kept track of their careers and I'd enjoy being able to go back and see how their career panned out, where they ended up spending their playing days and whether or not they achieved greatness. I suspect it's implementation would be best as a regular player profile (probably sans photo, season stats, transfer status et al., including solely his club history and seasonal performances). I understand the memory implications such a move would have so would it not be feasible to have this as an in-game option (Remember All, Remember [Nation] or Remember [Club]). Possibly even an option which kept the records solely of players who had enjoyed a tenure under your stewardship. I remember muted talk of such a feature several years ago and I can't help but feel it'd be one of those relatively minor additions which goes a long way to further immersing the manager in the virtual world.
  7. Just a small idea really. The ability to specialise a training regime for a player towards one particular attribute has been a good addition to FM 2011 I'm sure most would agree- my suggestion would be to have the ability to improve a specific coaches attribute so that you can develop the coaches abilities and influence their growth. Thoughts?
  8. This'll probably get lost in amongst the FM12 feedback, but hey-ho. I was reading a pre-match interview with York manager Gary Mills. He was asked who would replace a suspended player, and he basically hedged his bets and said it was down to who impressed him in training. This got me thinking, we get this question a lot in FM press conferences, but we can only name a player, or say "none of the below". We can't say "I haven't decided yet". So that needs sorting. But that led me to a broader thought, namely the real-life influence of training performance on match selection. Managers often talk about players earning their place on the training ground, about how players maybe do well in training but don't convert that to match-day performance, etc. But we don't really have this link. That should change. We should be able to see how our players have been doing. Not a measure of improvement, but a measure of attitude. So, on the Team Selection screen, I'd like a little visual indicator of how players have done in training over the past week. Doesn't have to be flashy, just a little green plus/red minus, or nothing if there's no real notable effort. But I'd also have AM feedback messages in specific scenarios. This could then draw training, team selection, and press conferences together. I'll illustrate. Scenario 1 David McGurk is suspended for York. So, you get the PC question, will you be using Daniel Parslow or Chris Smith to replace him? You say, haven't decided, it's for them to impress me in training. The Friday before the match, maybe you get a message from your AM saying Parslow has looked particularly sharp and motivated in training this week. So, now you have a decision to make. And if you still choose Smith over Parslow, maybe Parslow gets unhappy at your favouritism (depending on his professionalism etc). Scenario 2 After a poor performance, you are asked the PC question about whether you'll make changes for the next match. Now, in addition to the "rash to make decisions" and "one or two changes..." options we have currently, we also get a "We'll see how the players respond in training" option. Again, Friday comes round, you get a message from your AM. These players have looked really motivated. These players haven't. Again, you have choices to make. And choices have consequences. Scenario 3 Week-in, week-out, one of your younger players is getting a little green plus for his training performances. But, you haven't picked him. You think he's still too young perhaps. This would potentially have consequences. The player gets upset. Wonders why you are ignoring him. Thinks he needs to leave. So you have something to manage, a decision to make. Let me know what you think.
  9. Think this could do with some changes. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a decent thing to put it, but could be tweaked. As I understand it, either you accept and they go, or you refuse and the player stays. At least I've never had a transfer go through when I've refused it (I'm looking at you Joe Cole, I'm not paying you 60 grand to play for Blackburn!) What I'd like to see, is the ability to call the players bluff. Refuse, and then occasionally have the result where a player will sheepishly back down and go through with the transfer, or perhaps lessen their demands. Also, point out to the player that you'll simply stick them in the reserves for the rest of their contract, which will ruin their career(which would be quite a threat to ambitious players), or other similar threats. Thoughts?
  10. I posted this on the tactics board but didnt get any reaction to it so I thought i'd put up here. I still love classic tactics, but I do like the way the TC tactics are set up and how the shouts work. The problem I have is that it is almost forcing you to play within SI way of playing the game. What I am proposing is for us to be able to set up shouts and tactical systems in the same manner as the TC. For example. The TC has 5 strategies and when changed the tactcical settings are automtically adjusted, these amounts are preset by SI. These same settings/options should be available for the classic tactics users, where instead of the automatic changes we specify the individual strategies. Basically it is a more convenient way of saving say 3 or 4 tactics (which is what most classic tactics creators will have). These should all be saved under 1 tactic and available via shouts just as the TC strategies are. So when we change to an attcking stategy via a shout it is basically loading a saved tactic. Going a step further we should be able to set up our own shouts. Just like the TC tactics but instead of SI determining what values these shouts change we should be able to tailor them to our own unique needs. We could possibly even link them or set up a macro. So I could set up a shout that pushed my defensive line up by 7 clicks, but drops my DCs Mentality to say 5. This sort of flexibility would be brilliant, Im sure im not alone when I consistantly find myslef make the same sort of changes when certain scenarios appear. A shout for these scenarios would be brilliant. I know it can all be done under the normal tactical view, but I think it would be a good way of streamlining the tactical set up, especially for us classic users. At the very minimum, something as simple as a keyboard shortcut to load a pre defined tactic would also be massively helpful. As good as the TC is, I just hope us Classic users dont get left behind!
  11. 1. Player Testimonials We're all had players at clubs that become part of the furniture. It would be a nice way to honour them and send them off properly by offering them a testimonial at the end of their retirement season. They would keep the gate receipts so it wouldn't be a money-spinner, but a bunch of old players could come out of retirement for one more game, and people listed as "favoured personnel" would turn up and play. Might be fun, and definitely realistic. Shouldn't be a hard one to implement either! 2. More "Guff" on Matchday I'm sure this is something SI are already working on, but I'd love to see a bit more of the cosmetic guff happening on the pitch. Goal celebrations where the player leaps into the crowd and gets mobbed, 20-player punch ups, managers and other people on the touchline screaming and shouting, cameramen etc. You know, clutter. It may not matter to some people but it's stuff like that which gives you more of a connection to the players and the game engine and makes it seem more like watching a real match. Also it would be hilarious to see players ripping off their shirts and diving into the crowd before getting booked. Most of this isn't going to require huge amount of coding and research since they're just animations or static graphics. 3. A "Match of the Day" style condensed highlight reel The best action from the weekends games. At the end of the weekend of regular fixtures, or on a Thursday evening, the game generates a highlights package of great goals and moments from games. If you're an obsessive nerd (ahem) you can see what the other teams are up to without having to watch through and entire "key highlights" replay of a match. This way, you can just watch all the goals. Just a thought.
  12. FM11 has, in my opinion, improved the transfer and negotiation side of the game no end. Before it was robotic, unrealistic and fairly tedious. That, of course, doesn't mean that there aren't improvements that could be made, and below are several of ideas - some which I have seen mentioned before, others not - which I'd love to see introduced into a future game - FM13 is probably the most realistic, if they are not already planned for FM12. Interaction This is the weakest part of the system, in my eyes. As it stands, we offer a player (or agent, although as a lower league club I am yet to meet one of them) a contract, and they tell us what we need to improve to make the offer more reasonable and to tempt them to accept. The issue with this is that we seem to be talked at, rather than talked to. Whilst player interaction is now a conversation style (of which I'm not a huge fan but it is an improvement), the transfer negotiation remains a one-sided conversation. To improve this, I'd like to see the ability to explain your offer to a player. I'll use an example to make it easier to understand. Peter Power is a 23 year old striker who you are signing for £8mil from a mid-table team, whilst you are a top team. He wants £50,000 a week and a 2 year contract, whereas you believe he should be on £30,000 a week and want him on a 5 year contract. If you 'negotiate' to this, however, it's likely he'll only slightly bring down his demands (if at all) and will almost definitely not accept your new offer. What I'd like to see here is the ability to tell Peter Power why you think your offer of £30,000 is reasonable (perhaps a selection of options, like those given when responding to a transfer offer, would be appropriate) and why you'd prefer he signs a 5 year contract. Even if he doesn't accept your first offer, it may make it easier to tempt him to lower his demands a bit. There are so many times that this would be appropriate - explaining to a young player why he should be on a lower wage and a longer contract, telling an older player why they are only offered a 'Rotation' squad status or even explaining that financial difficulties are the reason that you can't offer what they really want. I'd say it's pretty unlikely that this doesn't happen in real life (at Arsenal, for example, I'd imagine Arsene Wenger tells players who are over 30 that they will only be offered a 1 year deal [although this seems to be relaxed now]), and think it would be a great addition to the game. Promises/Clauses Something else that I believe often happens in real life is that promises are given to players in order to tempt them to sign a new contract or join the club. Recently, Steve Morison has joined Norwich City from Millwall, after signing a new deal in January. He told the press that he was told, when he signed the contract, he was told he would be able to leave in the summer if he wanted. Similarly, Joe Lewis and Craig Mackail-Smith at Peterborough were promised they could leave after a year if they played for Peterborough for a year in League One. In FM, we don't have the option to do this - as far as a player knows, when he signs a contract he will have to stay until the end of the contract. There are two ways I'd like to see this introduced - firstly, there could be several new 'release clauses' made available to us - things such as 'can leave to a bigger club after two years' or 'can leave to one of his favourite clubs' would allow more realism as, as unfortunate as it I find it being a Watford fan, there are clubs in real life which do effectively act as 'stepping stones' for players to move on to bigger clubs. Alternatively, there could be a 'promises' section in contract negotiation rather than a legal clause in a contract, which if it is not met could lead to a fall in morale or a fall-out with the manager. Both of these would allow the transfer system, particularly in lower leagues, to work more realistically - I'd imagine there aren't many instances in real life where a lower league club would refuse to let a young player move up the leagues if they got a good offer for him (such as Carl Jenkinson who has just joined Arsenal from Charlton - the chairman said it would not be fair to refuse him a move as he has always supported Arsenal). Similarly, I'd imagine it's fairly common that a player joins a club with the agreement that he would be able to move on soon. It could also be introduced for current players - you could promise that they could leave a year after relegation, much like Peterborough did this year. Another clause that I'd like would see included (although it would take a lot more work, I'd imagine) is the percentage of money earned by a player in sponsorship/advertising that the club gets - this is often done in real life and although it would be lengthy to put into the game (and actually, may not be allowed to be included due to existing sponsorships) it would be great if it could be added. Short-Term Contracts This is one which has come up again and again over the years but, as far as I know, is yet to be introduced. So many players now (especially older players) are joining clubs on a one, two or three month contract, either to stay fit themselves or to help a club when there are many injuries. Many free agents also do this in lower leagues - they are signed up to a contract on official terms but a short enough contract that both the club and player are not tied down, allowing flexibility. It effectively acts as a trial in which a player can play league and cup games rather than friendlies/reserve matches, and a fair few players have been signed up onto longer term deals after a short-term contract. This would work well with the previous two ideas - the interaction would allow an explanation of why the player is being signed (such as provide short term cover) and a promise could be made (for example, if he plays 10+ games he will automatically trigger a contract extension, perhaps on better terms) Whilst I'm not a programmer, I can't see that it could need too much work to introduce and would be a great addition in my eyes. Player Exchanges There are two extra options that would help to improve the player exchanges in FM. Firstly, I'd like to be offered the choice of a selection of players from a certain club which I could start negotiations with in return for the player I am selling. Barcelona have obviously been looking to sign Cesc Fabregas recently, and I've seen in the press that Arsenal would be offered the choice of a large selection of Barcelona's players plus cash in return for Fabregas. Whilst this is almost definitely press speculation (I can't see Barcelona letting the likes of Pedro, Busquets or Alves go), it would be a welcome addition into FM, purely adding a larger selection of options in the negotiation stage of the game. Also, and can link in with the above ideas, allowing loans to become part of the negotiation for players would be fantastic. I'm aware that, in real life, loans are rarely arranged in a transfer agreement - whilst Leeds may sign a player on loan from Liverpool after selling a player to them, they may be separate deals. The best way of implementing this in the game, though, would be to be able to offer a player to a club on loan rather than for a permanent transfer. Whilst this may not completely reflect real life, sometimes simplicity should take preference and it would be a more convenient way of dealing with loan deals being part of the transfer. If SI would prefer to implement it a different way, a transfer clause stating that 'Leeds Utd may choose a player from Liverpool to take on a loan deal' or similar may work. This would leave the game open to bugs, in my opinion, with Leeds asking for Steven Gerrard or Fernando Torres (oh wait...) on loan, where ideally they would ask for someone like Dani Pacheco or Jack Robinson. However, if they were keen to reflect real life rather than choose a easier (for both implementation and usage) then this, I believe, would be the best way available. Lastly, when offering or asking for a player to be involved in a transfer, there should be some indication of whether or not the player would be interested in joining you or the other team. So many times I have almost bought a player, only for the deal to fall through thanks to my player refusing their contract offer. Scouts could be involved in this, or even an opportunity to choose a different player if one turned down the deal. ------------------------------------------------------ Right, I'm going to leave it there for now because I don't want a lengthy post to scare people off reading. If you have any criticisms or agree with what I've written above, please post in the thread to say so - your comments could help to give SI some vital ideas for future games. Also, if you've got a completely different idea that you'd like to see in the game with regards to transfers and contracts, post below - thanks!
  13. Hello, I have had this idea for a while and wondered how to contact SI about it. It seems this forum is the best place. Hopefully the moderators on here are quite influencial. - I welcome feedback from other users on here too. I currently play the iPad version (which I know is quite minimal compared to the full version), but I played FM2010 and ealier on my Mac/PC. As you will all know, recently there has been the ability to choose your experience level (eg, ex-footballer, etc). I have a great idea for future games, where you could 'absorb' the existing manager of a team when you start the game. By this I mean you have the option to become an existing manager (Mourinho/Sir Alex/etc), with their experience/player relationships/reputation. With the managers mentioned it could make the game easier in a way, but it would add a new dynamic to player signings/board interaction/media/etc instead of having to build it up (I know some of the fun of the game is building up this reputation, but it would be optional, so if you don't like it you don't have to use it. But I bet most people would like to try it out). Taking it to the next level the same could apply for recently retired players (Paul Scholes comes to mind although he is unlikely to go into management). Perhaps you could 'absorb' a recently retired player, keeping their relationships and reputation from before management, and take them into management. Please let me know your thoughts. I am quite confident this would be an interesting addition to the game.
  14. I love FM and have always have done, however this one thing annoys me to the extreme ...there's no way (I don't think) of comparing the passing stats between teams and players. You can see completion .. but I'd love to see on match analysis, how many passes the team has made without having to add it all together. Also on the team stats on the league, you can't see anything like this. It frustrates me because I love my teams and players to keep the ball and I'd love to see stats for how many passes my team make/complete as well as individuals compared to others in the division. A thank you, quick, simple addition!
