Is there anyway to get the actual correct grouping of the Champions League in FM 18? PS. I don't even have the correct premier league fixtures and I unticked "Use fake fixtures". I bought the game of off Steam. THANK YOU<>.
Hi all, I’ve just concluded a big season for my Cambridge United squad and thought I would post a little-write up given all the help I received on this forum. A little context on where I was can be found here: Long story short, in my 10 years or so with Cambridge United we have pulled up from the depths of league 2 to being a top-8 team in the Premier League. We’ve earned a few Europa League qualifications in the last few years, but I found a few gems on the transfer market this last season that I felt I could make a push for a Champions League qualification. I completely remade my tactics to suit the new team, and folks on this forum were kind enough to give me some really helpful tips when I struggled out of the gate in my first 2-3 matches. With my newly fixed tactic, the team roared back into form, reached 1st place in middle of the autumn, and before I knew it we were at the end of April. We are up 6 points on 2nd place Chelsea and Manchester United, and feeling good about the world! FM logic kicks in, and my boys proceed to lose 3-0 against Manchester United and then 2-0 against 20th place West Brom. We head into the last game of the season, an away match against Sheff. Wednesday, which happens to be (after West Brom won against us) the new last-placed team in the league. Things should still be looking good, except Chelsea and I are tied in the table now (they have won 2 straight), and we only have a 1 goal advantage. Game starts, and Chelsea takes an immediate 1-0 lead against Swansea back in London. My jaw drops at the table – we are tied with Chelsea on points, Goal differential, and goals scored….I don’t even know what the next sorting mechanism is, but Chelsea is currently winning the league as it stands. We power to a 2-0 lead against Sheffield, momentarily taking back first place in the table before seeing it dissolve again as Chelsea go up 3-0. In addition, Sheffield score one against us so we are only up 2-1. I could not believe what was happening! My savior is named Gerard Smith. My striker decided to put the whole Cambridge nation on his back and scored a brace in the second half, and with another goal we finished 5-1 in Sheffield. The league was ours - what a victory! Many thanks for all the help as I put together the tactic. Brilliant advice from @lemeuresnew @WhyMe @OrientTillIDie @summatsupeer @Bigpapa42 @Tajerio (apologies if I’ve missed anyone!), led to my best season in FM yet. Really appreciate the help!
So I've decided to start a Leicester save - I know its late - and this is kinda a Career Update thread but I'm focusing more on tactics = good results, not buy players = good results. My goal is to win the Premier League by 2026. Set the clock ticking.... now! I think we've all realised (Claudio Ranieri included) that Leicester's reputation has shot up following their shock title win in the 2015-16 season. So sitting back, defending tight and hitting teams on the counter with Vardy and Musa, is no longer an option against the mid table sides. Leicester are now expected to beat the mid table sides 3 or 4 nil.
